Equipment Problems of Chevrolet Tahoe - part 2

I have taken this vehicle two times to the dealers that sell Chevrolet. The first time it was there for 5 hours and nothing was done and the second time the service agent said there was no recall on this vehicle when obviously there is one.

The hvac blend/mode door actuator has melted, causing a fire hazard.

Audible warnings for turn signals, blind spot monitoring and lane monitoring periodically quits along with all sound from radio and bluetooth system. Haptic feedback on lane change seems to not function at this time as well. Warning lights function. This has occurred 7 times since oct 22 2024 when the vehicle was purchased. Mfg has been unable to repair.

The brake vacuum pump is bad. It was hooked up to solious and that's the codes it's throwing. Out of no where while driving on the highway my brake pedal became very stiff and difficult to push down. I could barely stop in time off the exit. Now when the truck is in drive it doesn't even move. When you do go u have to put all your might into pressing the brake down to stop. Even then the pedal won't go down. Very dangerous especially since I had my [xxx] daughter with me. Very scary situation. I looked up recall for VIN but I have 0. Which is weird because there's a recall on 2016 chevy Tahoes for this exact symptoms and part. Now I did go to [xxx] and found a recall under my VIN and also a warranty for this part under my VIN. Why doesn't it list a recall for me information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Purchased March 2022 late October 2024-motor and a/c condenser had to be replaced November 2024- thermostat had to be replaced due to fan constanly running and draining the battery February 2025- thermostat line popped off and had to be replaced may 2025-current- back at dealership due to engine ticking, cylinder 4 misfire code, emissions code, purge valve canister code and transmission issue (according to mychevy app).

My husband had an accident on 8/10/24 where adverse driver ran a red light at high speeds and struck this vehicle he was while driving impacting front end and both sides of car and airbags failed to deploy! he sustained a permanent disabling injury to his left shoulder.

Dash board is cracking around passanger side air bag and above instrument panel. Could shatter into pieces upon air bag deployment sending shards of dashboard flying. Could lacerate air bags. Gm is aware of the problem but failed to recall vehicles from 2007 to 2013 silverado, Tahoe,and suburban.

First: wiper motor stopped working, so it would not spray washer fluid to clean front or rear windows. Multiple people have had the same issue, only way to fix was replace second: rear heat stopped working, dealership said we were the 5th Tahoe in the last 2 weeks with the same issue. The "lines needed blown out" was what they said the fix was.

What failed: main radio. Safety concerns: gm sent an over the air update to car around July 5, 2024 and the update broke the whole radio system to my car. I now have no access to onstar, bluetooth for phone safety, maps, blinkers on side mirrors, radio etc. Dealer mentioned it is a very common problem with this particular gm product and the over the air update to cars. When I asked to turn this feature off so it doesn't happen again it is not an option. The Chevrolet dealer and a sound system specialist has inspected vehicle. Sound system specialist said this part may only be replaced by the dealer as it is the high end radio system. There was no warning of the update happening. The car was in great condition until this update was pushed through in the middle of the day. Now I am being quoted $2000 to fix it with no guarantee that it wont happen again.

My dash is cracked and rattles really bad when driving and sounds like pieces breaking, when I hit bumps in road you can see the dash move and bounce and poses a safety risk if in an accident and airbags go off the pressure can further break dash and send pieces of sharp plastic in the faces of passengers, there is thousands of complaints online and social media about the dashes of chevy and GMC trucks and suvs cracking and in several cases totally breaking apart into pieces due to the faulty cheap materials used to make these dashes. This is a potetial serious and lethal defect if in an a accident and these pieces of plastic go flying into people like shrapnel.

I was driving to work today and I heard what sounded like an explosion, so I stopped and pulled to the side of the road and checked everything and I seen that the sunroof glass was broken, I have only ever used the sunroof twice and that was to see if it was working. My safety and others on the road were at risk because if I would have had the sunroof sliding shade open the glass would have fell on my head or in my face. Also anyone driving behind me I'm sure the glass flew on their vehicle and could caused an accident. I got to work and called the local Chevrolet dealership in town and they said there were no recalls for this problem, but yet I looked it up under GMC forums and there has been other people saying it happened to them, especially the same year and make and model. My vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance yet, I reached out to the Chevrolet dealership and they said there was nothing they could do to help because there were no recalls on my vehicle, so I asked the girl in the service department who was higher then her and could help me because I did nothing wrong and did not feel that I should have to pay to fix this problem. She then gave me customer care contact information and I am waiting for a response. There were no warnings or symptoms or any messages on the dash, my sunroof glass just exploded without any warnings.

The touch screen glitches. While traveling depending on maps I can't safely drive and follow the screen.

The radio, the vehicle will just completely shut down, and stop in the middle of driving. The vehicle has been to repair person, who can't seem to find out what is happening. I have not taken it to a chevy dealership this time, nothing has been inspected by police or insurance. No crash has happened, yet!!!!!! just before the engine would cut off, the stabilitrack would light up, but that is because of no steering during the time the engine shut down. It take the vehicle about 3 seconds to 1 minute for the vehicle reset and restart. This is very dangerous because I could get into an accident. The mechanic I took my SUV to couldn't find a code to repair the issue. There is definitely something wrong with my SUV.

The vehicles have a serious defect that causes the air conditioning systems to crack and leak refrigerant, lose pressure, and fail to function properly to provide cooled air into the vehicles. These failures lead owners and lessees to incur significant costs for repair, often successive repairs as the repaired parts prove defective as well. As summer temperatures in many regions soar into triple digits, this leaves escalade, sierra, suburban, Tahoe, silverado, sierra and yukon owners with vehicles they say are undriveable due to concerns about child, pet, and driver safety. I would hope gm will cover this ac problem since I am just outside of my certified warranty and have kept up with all maintenance requirements per manual. I am not a happy customer here, definitely deters me from buying another chevy/GMC if gm does not cover the cost under warranty. Per link below you have to constantly contact gm to argue this common problem to get them to agree to cover it. I had it diagnosed by hoselton fairport NY last Tuesday, they wanted $400 just to touch my ac to start the diagnosis and to put a $40 can of freon in it. It didn’t hold after 3 days. The a/c compressor on my 2019 Tahoe with 60,000 miles no longer works. It will not blow cold air out and was not discovered until it was super hot outside. This should not be happening to a vehicle that I've had less than 5 years and with the average amount of miles on. Since bumper to bumper warranty is now only 3years or 36,000 miles it is also out of warranty, leaving me to fix on my own dime. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than myself. There were no warning lamps or messages or symptoms prior.

Water is leaking through my back hatch on the left side(passenger side) the roof is wet and staining with water spots.

One day I was driving normal and my engine light and two other lights came on. It dropped my speed under 30mph and I couldn't pass the gas. It said reduced engine power, service stabilitrak and service traction. I immediately took it to auto zone then placed it in the shop at the dealership. They had my truck for almost 2 months and finally said they fixed it. It ran ok for a month or so. I was so scared to drive because it does it randomly. Boom it happen again now im frustrated because what is the problem. Called shop they said bring it back they will have a new person look at it. They had it for a month again. Paid more money. Then boom a month later the same thing. So at this point im calling no one is answering they ignored me so I called the customer service on the truck to complain. I had to get rentals and everything with the same problem it is over a year later. No answer and nobody called back nothing. I parked my truck for months and yesterday June 24th the lights came on again. I have heard alot of my friends and family say they have a chevy vehicle and they did/do the same thing.

The Tahoe has this error that comes up on the dash "trailer brake system" and it doesn't stop. It keeps coming up and it is hard to drive with the constant beeping.

Message on car states: service door latch system first, the driver door stopped locking and latching. Then, days later the rear doors also stopped locking. The dealership is recommending to replace the door latches on the inside of the door and it is very expensive.

Appears the roof failed after rain storm on 3/1/24, was moving car to different parking space and heard water that was running / moving in the roof and doors of car. The water then started pouring out through all upper seat belt slots, the ac vents in the roof, the lights in the roof. Water also poured out of the upper-forward electronic panel where the rear set and lift gate control buttons are located. Water was also coming out at the drivers foot area, rear seats side panels, the water coming from these places was falling onto the dash, radio, phone battery charger, seat belt reels, seats, carpets, between the seats and doors, rear trunk area. Safety is at risk due to possible electrical damage. Car holding weather and turning to a mold health hazard. Damage to seatbelts. , inheritor lights, ventilation system. Water and moisture into car onto seats, carpets etc can grown mold spores causing health hazards.

Exhaust leaks in to the cab. This has happened on several Chevrolet Tahoe police package vehicle models that we have. The paint is failing on the car. I have extensive research on it and it appears this is a big issue over the years 2015-19. There is no recall on this yet. I called the chevy 1(800) number and they told me to file a complaint to you guys.

When I started car I got service messages for side detection system, tire monitor system, safety restraint system, front camera system, trailer break system and theft deterrent system. Each one gave option to dismiss. When I would dismiss the messages would come back. When I was driving, all the things on dash, mph, oil, battery etc all stayed on zero. Super dangerous and I could have died!!!!!!. No blinker sound.

This is a stark contrast to my previous six Chevrolets, all of which allowed hands-free phone calls and navigation functionalities via bluetooth without requiring an additional subscription. I have contacted two Chevrolet dealerships, spoken with numerous employees, and reached out to onstar, spending a total of nearly two hours on the phone attempting to resolve this issue. Unfortunately, no solution has been found. My primary concern is safety. Manually operating my phone while driving is unacceptable, and in some states illegal, putting myself and others at risk. Additionally, the lack of hands-free navigation significantly detracts from the convenience and value of the vehicle. Driving down a street we heard a loud boom almost sounded like something exploded we looked around but saw nothing. Then started hearing noises from the sunroof sure enough it had exploded not cracked and it is smashed outwardly not in therefore not something that hit it or caused impact from the outside in. We researched it and seems to be a known ongoing issue. Very dangerous as it is happening more and more. It definitely startled us and could have been a scary situation if we had been on the highway. Also dangerous if that glass falls on you while driving.

I took my vehicle into sunset Chevrolet in sumner washington, in November of 2022 and had them complete the takata air bag recall on the vehicle. I drove it for a few months and put it in storage. Since the recall the dash is now cracked where the dealer replaced the passenger airbag recall. It was not cracked prior to the replacement. I have talked to the dealer and they are saying they will not cover this. This is a hazard issue and can cause additional shrapnel to come flying at you if the vehicle is involved in an accident. The vehicle was stored in the garage and not driven. The dealer won't even examine the vehicle to see if the bolts were inadvertently overtightened on the technicians side. This is not right and this is something that should be covered. The vehicle has about 88k miles on it. My dash was not cracked at the time of the repair and now it is. This is not right to put me at more risk than what I was at prior to the recall. I read that the takata airbag recall stated to repair the cracked dashes. Mine cracked after gm performed the recall. This is a hazard and is something that should be taken care of. I am disabled individual.

There is a trailer brake warning that comes up alot! even more when it is raining or cold out . It beeps continuously, can’t see the speed I am going because it’s always flashing trailer brake warning. When I dismiss the message it pops on again and again. I have read up on this very common issue , alot of people are having with the trailer brake system warning. It makes the radio system even go crazy . And me crazy! constantly hearing the beeping over and over .

Vehicles radio changes channels randomly and information system changes functions from radio to handsfree phone, to directional map, to radio again randomly.
