I finally just received a safety recall letter from gm that the parts are now available to replace the passenger side airbag inflator in my vehicle. During the 14 years that gm has taken to respond to the safety problem my dashboard which is made from plastic has several cracks in it. I spoke with the local dealer and they informed me that they will replace the airbag inflator at no charge but will not be responsible for the dashboard which will break up and come out in pieces once removed due to deterioration and cracks. The cost for the dashboard parts is expected to exceed $1,100. 00. I then contacted the Chevrolet customer assistance center at 800-630-2438 and spoke to jecc which informed me that no, gm will not replace any other parts other than the airbag inflator. I don't understand how gm could be so complacent in delaying for 14 years the installation of this critical safety part which has put my passengers at risk of being impaled be metal shrapnel if in an accident. I also don't understand why after delaying the installation of this part for so long that they are not willing to replace all the necessary parts to make things right. I will be delaying the recall procedure due to the high cost of the repair and in the meantime trying not to carry any passengers. My father got a recall on his 2013 Ford edge a few years ago for the same issue and they replaced the entire dashboard with no questions asked and the dashboard was not even cracked. It was not even an issue. I would thank you if you could pass this on to any higher authorities at gm. It is not right that they do not stand behind their product or their customers safety.

Hi. My 2011 chevy Tahoe "service airbag" light is on. My VIN # is 1gnscbe0xbr196328. I found a recall for it on the chevy website but it says its recall incomplete, remedy not yet available. I believe they have failed to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. Date of recall: may 27,2016 manufacturer recall number 2049151 NHTSA recall number 16v381. Im just wondering if there is anything you can do to help? since my "service airbag" light is on now I feel very unsafe driving the vehicle as the recall states the following: the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. Separately and additionally, the dash has cracked all the way across the width of the vehicle. It is cracked on the cover to the airbag as well. There was no accident. It just cracked one day. A class action lawsuit has been filed and I have attached the pdf. Clearly this is a problem that is happening to alot of people. A cracked dashboard could compound the severity of a car crash and it could shatter into pieces upon airbag deployment and send shards of dashboard flying at both the driver and their passengers. Between the airbag recall and the dash cracking it is very unsafe to drive. Gm is unwilling to help me. Please let me know what immediate action can be taken so myself and my passengers are safe when I'm driving. Thanks!.

This vehicle was originally subject to NHTSA 16v383, over four years ago. The legal maneuvering by gm has prolonged this issue, further aging my airbag inflator. I am concerned that this daily driven vehicle is not safe for my family. I.
Emissions recall the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries.
Airbags will not inflate. Inflator keeps going and regulator does not stop.

My dashboard has cracked, unexpectedly (having only 76,000 miles) on my Tahoe ltz 2007. In my review and research of this issue I have seen a common trend with gm for these models. Among this trend, and incidentally from my research, they are all cracking in the same spots as mine. Above the driver's side instrument panel and the upper left corner of the passenger front airbag. In lieu of these these dashboard cracks, and combined with the existing recall that has no solution for fix- surrounding the takata inflators among the airbags, this becomes a serious safety hazard should there be an accident. The time to make corrections and fixes, not at the owner's or passengers' expense, is before an accident occurs. I would appreciate any advise or insight surrounding this matter. I do have photos on my phone for future documentation should it be needed. Your assistance is greatly appreciated in this matter. Please note, this Tahoe is well taken care of and has always been garaged. It's documented history and appearance attest to that fact.
Takata recall. My complaint is that I received a notice from my dealer/via onstar notifying me that I could now schedule replacement of the inflators. I made an appointment, but when I brought the vehicle in (which was the main reason I scheduled maintenance online) they said it wasn't ready for the fix and that the recall number was "not correct, not in their system". I verified thru NHTSA recall info that the recall number was in fact correct. I feel duped into bringing my car in and of course they then told me all sorts of items that should be looked at (over and above the factory maintenance schedule, e. G. , due to time vs. Mileage). So I feel that I and anyone else receiving these emails are getting taken advantage of. I replied to their email that I had scheduled the repair and no one cont.
Takata inflators: the recall has a date on it almost two years old and there is still no resolution to this issue. What happens if there is an accident and my air bag malfunctions while my family is in the car. This is not acceptable. There needs to be more accountability. This could cause a fatality that could be prevented if the company spent less time worrying about saving a dollar. If there is no resolution to this issue soon then I want chevy to buy my truck back.
Takata inflators: this recall has been in affect since 2016 and every dealership says there is no remedy to fix this problem. What is the hold up of getting this issue fixed? will it take more injuries or deaths to get things moving. I have a 3 yr old who sits behind me in the middle seat. If this inflator would happen to inflate and explode, we would both be injured and that won't sit to well with me knowing this recall started in 2016.

Takata inflators I went to national city, ron baker Chevrolet for this matter and dealer ship said there is no such thing as a recall didnt want to replace my airbags. Pretty much my vehicle I cant sell because of this I a vehicle defected.
Takata air inflators cannot get repaired. . . No remedy for defected part. . . . No incident at this time but I carry my precious grandchildren in my car on a daily routine. . .
Takata recall no one can answer my questions. Case reference: NHTSA 1153284 1. Gm had 2+ years to investigate the airbag they put in my vehicle. My question why NHTSA would allow them a time extension until the end of the year 2017. Their time to investigate was granted an extension by NHTSA as per my call to NHTSA 2. As the air bag on my car has never been deployed in the 10 years of ownership (contains original airbags installed in the gm janesville WI plant, never touched internally as the steering wheel has not been removed or the dashboard taken apart ). My question the tk holdings card states: "if your vehicle contains a defective or potentially defective airbag inflator and is under recall, contact your nearest dealership immediately to schedule a free repair. " when dealer was contacted, he is still waiting for gm to finish the investigation and can not replace the airbag under the recall. Which is true? will results happen before the December 27, 2017 date where I may be able to include myself as a "will suffer" (as I do not know the outcome of a accidental incident in advance of your 12/27/17 date to file a claim). Observation: this sounds like the classic case of the governmental left hand not knowing what the governmental right hand is doing! attention NHTSA: I think someone should call me as to completion of the recall that gm is dragging their feet over. 724-654-0270 no response to my inquiry confirms to me that you are just as much at fault as gm or takata in the perpetuation of this recall and/or investigation.
Takata inflators there is a recall on the airbags in my car but chevy has not made available a subsitute for my type of vehicle airbag yet? nothing has happened to my vehicle yet, but I would like to know when they will be replacing the airbag in my Tahoe to make it safe.
Takata airbags. I called wilmes chevy and was told that there were no parts available to replace the airbag or takata inflator. Also called wilmes superstore over a year ago and was told the same thing. What do I do next?.
Hi no one has been injured. I recieved post card with recall & class action information regarding the air bag inflators. I have called the dealer & they have told me they do not have the parts for repair.
Takata inflators. I was contacted several times over the past 2 years that my vehicle was part of the recall. Everytime I have contacted the dealer I was told there was be remedy it this time. It seems that gm is holding out in performing the recall on a large amount of their consumers. This hasent been fixed in a timely manner. They have had plenty of time to prepare and complete the recall they are just dragging it out. My wife and I are now stuck with a vehicle that could possibly cause bodily harm or death. We can't even sell the vehicle because of the open recall and without gm fixing the recall people don't want to purchase a vehicle that could possibly kill them. I would like to see that gm is held accountable and perform the recall as soon 🔜 as possible. And if for some reason they can't perform the recall as soon as possible they should have to pay retribution to those that are affected by this recall. Vehicles are very expensive and consumers work really hard to be able to purchase these vehicles. It is time to give the consumers that are affected by this recall something for their money.
2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. Consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair airbag inflator recall notice.
Takata inflator I received a recall notice for my 2007 chevy Tahoe's airbags last July. I had not heard a peep so I called the local dealers again and was told the same thing, there was no fix coming yet. I called gm and their pr person told me that they had tested 43000 airbags( not real on the road) and found no issues so they were going to request that the recall be recalled! I clearly stated that I live in a hot, humid area by the ocean and was concerned that the propellant in those takata air bags may be corrupted like those in other cars like my wife's Honda which was recently replaced. She said they would do nothing, to which I replied that I would not like to be one of the people that had to have shrapnel in me to provide more evidence of the need for replacements.

There is a serious safety risk which is not being addressed by my local chevy dealer. The propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. I have a three year old son and am in the process of trying to have another child. If I do get pregnant and the airbag deploys I could be killed along with my unborn child. This needs to be addressed immediately for the safety of myself and family.
My truck is selected for recall. . But letter says it's safe to drive. But the letter also explains what can happens if the air bags inflator may rupture during deployment causing serious or fatal injuries. Also the inflator can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. . Well it's summer time and that can happen if I have an accident. . Need my truck taken ASAP. .
Back in July 2016 I received a letter from gm stating that my Tahoe VIN is on the recall list for airbag inflators, ( gm recall 49151) until this date February 27 2017 they have not resolve the issue yet. My wife and my kids are in this vehicle almost everyday, I am afraid that something bad will happen to them regarding this unsolved recall.
No fix no resolve my vehicle the inflators takata air bag no receiving the secon recall notice my number recall is #49151.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated and a beeping noise was heard while driving. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called the john l sullivan roseville dealer and was informed to keep checking the GMC website for when the part becomes available. The manufacturer informed the contact that the inflator did not pose a safety risky and the air bags would probably never be repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall airbag inflator is taking too long. Gm sent an initial letter last year; July 2016. I am driving around in florida; hot and humid. Stress is building as new Tahoes are rolling off assembly lines, but no parts can be spared to fix an "over time" serious injury. I have 3 reference numbers; but no parts. Can u help?.
2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Consumer writes in regards to replacement air bag not available to repair front passenger airbag inflator recall notice. The consumer stated the dashboard is also cracked. Updated 06/06/2017.
Takata inflators: in July, 2016, Chevrolet's global vehicle safety vice president notified me of the recall, saying I would be notified "when there are parts available. " that was over a year ago. When I called my local dealer to inquire whether they had received the parts, they responded in the negative, and could not tell me when they might be available. I want the problem corrected now.
Takata inflators. It has now been over a year the airbag on my vehicle has still not been replaced. I was put on notice it could cause me harm yet no remeedy has been found. Clearly the airbag needs to be replaced so that my family is safe. Now I get notice that tk holdings has filed chapter 11 bankruptcy. What does this mean for me and my family and our safety. We now have a 40k vehicle that is not safe to drive and have no recourse? Chevrolet should be liable an required to replace my airbags so that I don't have to fear if I am in an accident the airbag may kill me or my passenger. What is being done to have the airbag replaced? every time I call the dealer they say there is nothing can be done I want this fixed now.
I was notified July 2016 by us mail that my vehicle is involved in gm recall 49152 for the passenger side takata airbag inflator. I have never recv'd any further communication from gm. I filed a complaint with NHTSA 4/10/19 (odi #11195391). I mailed requested docs to NHTSA 5/15/19. I have not heard back from anyone and the issue with the takata airbag inflator has not been addressed after 4 years of waiting for a remedy.
Received a safety recall from Chevrolet in June 2016 concerning defective takata airbag inflators. The recall stated I would be notified when parts are available to remedy the problem. It is now August 2019 and no one has contacted me about the recall. I am concerned about the safety of my family members.
Nhtsa has contacted me to say that my vehicle's tamara made air bag is part of a recall. I have been in contact with the dealership that services my vehicle. The dealership says they are still waiting for directions from general motors about what to replace or repair. This recall has been in effect for almost a year. Please make gm replace the inflators in my vehicle.
"takata recall" since 2016 recall remedy not available no parts. After long term exposure in hot and humid weather, the propellant degrades to a certain level and the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. For me, this is a battle for my life and it would put my family in jeopardy of theirs.
We got a letter from tk holding inc. Saying out airbag inflators are defective and they are filling got chapter 11 bankruptcy and I had a recall may 16 2016 the NHTSA # :16v383 and the manufacture #:2049152 I went to the dealership to get it straighten out but I never heard back from them.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact observed a fracture in the dashboard on the driver and passenger side, which could lead to potential air bag exposure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) for the passenger side air bag inflator. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Takata recall this entire recall reeks of a back office deal with gm and NHTSA. In one para gm states that " if the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. " yet the following sentence states " gm considers your vehicle safe to drive". You should put pressure on gm to fix this as opposed to srringing it out for ever. D a lundy.
