Instrument cluster goes out , speedometer and all gauges just quit working and you have no way of knowing what speed you are traveling.
The interior vents stopped working and would only go to 3 max on the dial. That was 1000 dollars to repair. The rpm gauge went out next, now the speedometer stopped working and the battery doesn't hold a charge. I have had this car for two years and it is beginning to cost a lot for repairs. I had to buy a battery and am repairing the gauges at $600. These are all new parts. I feel at this point someone needs to look into this complaint. Most people aren't repairing the speedometer because it is so costly, but I think this is a hazard. . Read more...

No gas on freeway. And battery out caused a crash. Chevy dealership refuses to help although there is a recall for other chevy products with similar problems. Chevy service department offers nothing and refuses to help or acknowledge anything wrong. This is a safety problem I am not the only one having this problem. Please help force gm to recall the instrument cluster panel.
Rpm gauge failed, then the oil gauge and now the battery gauge. Why won't they have a formal recall and Chevrolet pay for it? they did have a bulletin but the Trailblazer was not included. I would like them to pay for it?.

Chevy 2004 Trailblazer speedometer cluster fails, resulting in incorrect readings on the speedometer and oil pressure gauges.
I have an 04 Trailblazer with only 43000 miles that has developed an obvious recurring problem with the gauge cluster failing and reading inaccurately. I realize that investigations have showed no deaths or injuries due to this failure however does it not produce and increased safety risk and should be recalled? what is being done to correct this besides owners having to shell out over $500 for the repair?.
The instrument cluster failed in my 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Not only did the tach and speedometer not work, they both registered the wrong information. At times, the speedometer would be reading 25 mph when the vehicle was actually going around 55-60 mph. If you can remember that they are wrong, it does not cause too much trouble, but can you imagine if someone who doesn't drive the vehicle too often, say a spouse, and they head into a sharp curve with a warning sign posted at 25mph, and they look at the speedometer for verification, and forget that it is wrong. This is especially dangerous at night, when it is harder to judge your speed. General motors refuses to acknowledge the engineering flaw on their vehicles. There are literally hundreds of people who have experienced this problem. As a retired law enforcement officer in one of the the largest counties in north carolina, I feel qualified to make the statement that this is an extremely dangerous defect and should prompt action by the NHTSA to force gm to repair these defective products at no charge. Instead gm is making a lot of money off their customers for the repairs. From what I can tell, about $500 per vehicle. The speedometers go out around 40-50 k miles.
I was driving down the road when my speedometer continued to rise even when I stopped. I have a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. There are hundreds of people in various forums with the same problem and Chevrolet has yet to recall or fix the problem. They know that the problem is with the instrument cluster failing but still will not pay to have it fixed in the Trailblazer. The other trucks and SUV's have been found with the same problem and Chevrolet is paying for them but not the Trailblazer. I will need to pay $450 for a new instrument panel to fix the problem. I currently do not have a working speedometer.
The instrument cluster went out on my 04 chevy Trailblazer which I purchased new at around 40k. Chevy will do nothing to help and in the meantime I have no speedometer, tachometer, or gas gauge.
Most dashboard gauges failed on the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Total loss of fuel gauge, amp gauge, temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge. In addition to these failures odometer did not work properly. Also, other driver information computer items did not function. Abs, parking brake and battery lights illuminated. After a while of driving all dashboard functions returned to normal. This has happened several times in the past few days.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the speedometer failed intermittently. While parked, the speedometer read 120 mph. The dealer stated that the instrument cluster failed. The failure mileage was 22,000 and current mileage was 27,000. Updated 02-14-08.
Since 2007 my instrument panel cluster of my 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer (which I purchased brand new in 2004 from dealership) goes on and off some days it works and some days it does not. I could be driving down the road and all of the lights on the dash and gauges go out. I am unsure at times how much gas is in my car and just have to estimate and fill the tank. I attempted to have the dealership help me out because I purchased an extended warranty but they were bought out by another dealer. I wrote to Chevrolet and they refused to help me out. I am unable to pay the $700 to $800 they have quoted me to pay to have it fixed. There are several other vehicles with this problem so it should be recalled by Chevrolet. I feel this is a safety issue because all of the lights go out sometimes at night so I have refrained from driving at night very much.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Beginning in January of 2007, the gas gauge failed on the instrument panel, which prevented the contact from knowing the amount of fuel in the vehicle. Soon afterwards, the speedometer began to malfunction and began displaying inaccurate readings. The vehicle has not been repaired, but arrangements are being made. The current mileage was 84,585 and failure mileage was 73,068.
