Speedometer stuck at 0 mph even when vehicle was in motion on highway.
I have the same problem that an earlier blogger as, all my gauges are stuck, the speedometer is stuck, the oil gauge stuck, gas gauge stuck, I think gm needs to take control of their problem and correct it, not just say it's not a problem they will not fix. There needs to be a recall for this problem pin the Trailblazer trucks.
The electrical system on my 2004 Trailblazer ext is not operating properly. The tachometer doesn't register, nor does the battery gauge and uncertain if the reading on the oil gauge is accurate. The fuel gauge is not operable, the needle is either pass e(empty) or pass f (full), I'm constantly re-fueling for fear of running out of gas. When first starting the engine, the speed indicator might register correctly, but then it falls below 0 mph while traveling speeds of 35 to 55 mph and other times it may indicate speeds in excess of 100 mph. Problems with the speedometer first started in June 2012 , I used a gps to keep track of traveling speed. Afterwards, the other gauges started to malfunction. No parts have been repaired or replaced. Very concerned about safety issues, as I occasionally transport my grandchildren to appointments. Has Chevrolet made any amendments to correct these problems? assistance needed please.
One day when I was driving I stopped my vehicle and the speedometer read 60 mph at a standstill. As I continued to accelerate it increased until it reached well past 120 mph. Each time the vehicle is stopped the speedometer sometimes goes back but never to 0. The rpm does not function at all, and not sure when that stopped working. The speedometer did fix itself and then started again a month later. The second time is when the problem started with the rpm not functioning. I have seen multiple incidents with people complaining of these same issues and have saved the issues. I contacted the dealer and they are stating that this is not a manufacturers defect and stated it is $300 to replace a "internal fault in the dash cluster. " this is what I was told by someone in the service department at a Chevrolet dealership.
Speedometer and tach works erratically. Speedometer works approx. 25% of the time.
While driving on the freeway with my family the speedometer and tach stopped working. We have been calling gm to find a solution with no results. I have come to realize that I am one of many with this same issue with their 2004 Trailblazer. We cannot understand how gm can say that this is not a safety issue when this puts our children and families in danger when ever they are in a vehicle that is not producing accurate feedback concerning our speed and performance of the vehicle.
In December 2011 my rpm gauge stop working. I did some research and found that there are several complaints about the same problem with the 2004 chevy Trailblazer. Then, on December 7,2012 my speedometer stop working and now all the other gauges are starting to malfunction. There are recalls on this same problems for 2005 and 2006 Trailblazers. Gm didn't issue a recall on the 2004 chevy Trailblazers. I filed a compliant with the attorney general's office against general motors. A representative from general motors called and said there was not anything that they could do, because the vehicle has met its life expectancies. They will not doing anything because my vehicle is over 100,000 miles. He basically told me that once the vehicle reaches 100,000 miles that general motors does not stand behind their product.
Instrument panel stopped working. First the tachometer - then the speedometer.
Switches for the power window and heated driver's seat on driver's door panel stopped working. Heater for driver's seat turns on, on its own and cannot be controlled with the switch. While the heater for driver's seat is on, the instrument panel flickers. The heater for driver's seat turns on and off, on its own and each time it comes on, the instrument panel flickers.
Speedometer does not register proper speed. Reads at 0 mph when going 65mph or any other mph for that matter. At no time is the speedometer ever accurate.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While parked, the contact noticed that the gauges on the instrument panel would not function. The failure would recur intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing but was unable to diagnose the failure because the gauges were functioning at the time of testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 29,279.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the instrument panel gauges were providing faulty readings. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis or repairs and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not the repaired. The failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was 119,000. Kmj.
My instrument panel on my 2004 Trailblazer is slowly not functioning. It started off with my tachometer and now my gas guage not working. My vehicle has not been neglected and is serviced when needed. The guages are not working now on a daily basis. I have yet to replace the part due to cost and also because many people are having the same issue that I am having.
On 1/23/2011 I was on a trip, 77 miles from home, when my 2004 chevy Trailblazer's instrument panel went crazy. I thought my engine would blow because the rpm guage went off the charts, then wouldn't read anything. Then my speedometer did the same. I had no idea how fast I was going, on the interstate. I was worried, so I moved to the left lane, and stayed behind the slower traffic to be safe. When I got home, I stopped at my local chevy dealership where I was told that almost every Trailblazer over 80,000 miles is having the same issues. The problem could be my instrument pannel computer, or one of everal bad modules. The can does not show any error code, so the cost to repair ranges from $600 to over $1500 depending on how long it takes your repair person to find the problem. After my diagnosis I was angry, I am tired of repairing items on this car. I went online to see if it was rare, or if anyone else had the problem, and an exact reair. On one website alone aboutautomobile. Com I found over 1,300 Trailblazer owners with the same problem. After further reasurch I have found almost 19,000 Trailblazer complaints about the same problem. I do believe that all Trailblazers will have this issue, and that gm should fix it, with a recall repair. I have sent complaints to gm, but no response has been given.
The speedometer gauge went down to 0, while I was on the freeway traveling at 65 mph. This has happened frequently since it first started happening----and it will work for awhile--and then stop. On average, I would say this has happened at least 6 to 10 times a year in the past 3 years. My speedometer currently isn't working and hasn't worked for 2 months. Why isn't there a recall on this?.
Speedometer stuck/instrument panel on christmas day we were traveling to families house to celebrate the holidays. 1. 5 hours into the trip, the speedometer went crazy and was at 90 when we were going 65. Pulled over and when we stopped it increased to 120 mph. Since we had another 3. 5 hrs of our trip and it was unsure exactly what was wrong (since there were no dealership/service stations open), we turned around and went home. Nice christmas that we had, not. On Monday (the next day the dealership was open) I called to get an appt. And couldn't' get in until Tuesday. Went in Tuesday and of course charged me a diagnostic fee, when I could tell from searching the internet what was wrong (by now the speedometer was straight down between 0 and 120). 1. 5 hrs later the dealership tells me it is the instrument panel (surprise, surprise) and that they would have to order since they have none in stock. It would take 4-5 business days. The earliest we're looking at getting is next week, now 10 days past the day it happened. I asked the dealership for a loaner and they offered me enterprise rental for $40/day (my expense). They could offer me nothing else, sending me on my way. Ok, chevy. . . Since this is a huge problem, the least you could do is stock dealerships with the panels, especially since this is a large dealership. It is not safe to be driving around with no working speedometer. Did I mention this is also my vacation week. . . . Nice, being stuck at home cause you have an inoperable vehicle. Chevy needs to step up to the plate and make this right with their costumers. I have been a faithful owner since 1994. A $415 part/plus labor is ridiculous when there have been so many complaints, you need to recall this.
Speedometer has become very erratic. Shows too fast and other times shows to slow by from 5 to 30 mph. Very unsafe. Chevrolet dealer said been no problems need to come in and diagnosis. This has been occurring the hole month of December 2010, and now in Jan. 2011.
I own a 2004 chev Trailblazer lt. The guages on the instrument panel have begun to read intermittently. First, the gas guage would read 1/4 tank and I ran out of gas with my 2 year old grandson in the car on the interstate. I have aaa, but was 30 miles from the nearest provider, therefore we were stranded for 2 hours. Now the speedometer is will show that I am going 90 miles an hour when in fact I am only going 30 or 40. Next my oil guage and temp guage are reading up and down, giving me false readings that could be a true reading and the engine overheat or freeze up. I researched this issue and see that there are many similar.
Instrument cluster has quit working.
2004 chevy Trailblazer lt speedometer stopped working and rpm gauge is acting weird.
Driving 70 mph on the freeway. The speedometer on my 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer jumped up to 100 mph, then to 120 mph, then past 120 mph. When I came to a stopped and turned off the engine the speedometer reads 110 mph.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Upon starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that all of the gauges on the instrument panel were stuck on 0. When the contact turned the vehicle off and restarted it, it funtioned correctly. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop but the failure could not be diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000 and the current mileage was approximately 60,000.
Instrument panel gauges stopped working. Tachometer, speedometer, oil pressure and voltage gauge randomly stop working.
2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer instrument cluster not working. First the tachometer stopped, then speedometer and now other gauges quit. I have found many people have had the same problem and gm is doing nothing about the problem. If all cars from this series end up having to have their instrument cluster replaced there is a bigger problem with some factory defect and it should be taken care of by the manufacturer since the product they sold in the market has known defects. I have read how this problem has been known and reports have been filed with NHTSA for quite some time now and nothing is being done about it. I think someone should force the hand of gm to correct this problem.
This is not an accident complain. My speedometer is stuck all the way to the right. This has happened for a couple of weeks now. It does not move when I drive or park the car. The miles are being recorded, but I don't know if they are accurate. Lots of people have this problem. Seems to me that a recall should be done.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact believed he was driving approximately 45 mph when he noticed he was passing all of the other vehicles on the roadway. He then realized that the speedometer was displaying an improper reading. The failure persisted and progressively became worse. The vehicle was not taken to be examined for the cause of failure and was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 90,000.
Oil gauge on instrument panel stopped working in October 2010. In may 2011 now the tachometer and speedometer stopped working. I have read of many complaints on 2003 Trailblazer having this problem. I am experiencing the same issue and yet no recall. How is the speedometer malfunctioning not considered a safety recall when this appears to be consistent in chevy Trailblazers?.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the gauges on the instrument panel stopped working intermittently. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was sent and email but did not respond. The failure mileage was 86,000.
The instrument cluster on my Trailblazer has begun to fail. The tachometer, speedometer and temperature gauge are not always accurate. My vehicle is no longer under warranty and the dealer will charge to repair. After looking online a lot of people have had the same issue. Chevrolet has issued a recall for trucks with the same instrument cluster, but my vehicle is not covered for some reason even though it uses the same hardware.
I too am a reluctant owner of a 2004 chevy Trailblazer that constantly gets the irritating view of an instrument panel that has go haywire. Sometimes these things work and sometimes they do not. I don't believe I have one working gauge in my Trailblazer. It would be really gracious for those that are relying on our hard own dollars to give us a product worth spending on.
My voltmeter on the gauge cluster doesn't work. It appears to work when the car is started and jumps to 12-14 volts but slowly moves down to zero and stays there no matter what I do to try and make it move. If I do not know the voltage I am running I wont be able to quickly resolve any problems should there be any serious problem that would show through my voltmeter.
2004 chevy Trailblazer lt speedometer flicker.
On 8/18/2010 after visiting my grand dad at hospital, pulled out of packing garage and noticed my speedometer started working improperly. I was going maybe 30mph it read 115mph. I currently have 110,000.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving at approximately 60 mph he noticed the speedometer was displaying a speed of 25 mph. Intermittently the speedometer displays different speeds other than the speed the vehicle is actually traveling. The vehicle had not been taken to be examined for the cause of failure and it had not been repaired. He also mentioned that approximately 6 months ago the tachometer experienced the same failure in which it displayed improper readings. The vehicle had not been taken to be examined for this failure and had not been repaired. This failure continues to recur intermittently. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 91,000. Updated 11/02/10. Updated 11/19/10. The consumer also stated the tachometer did not work as well. Updated 12/02/10.
I have seen across many websites that the instrument panel on the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazers malfunction. Well, our vehicle is having the same issue. My mechanic says he has seen several similar problems and says it will cost about $600 to repair. He suggested contacting chevy, but I have seen that chevy is not interested in resolving the problem. I figured if they are getting enough complaints to the ntsb, maybe they will recall the equipment and I can get it properly repaired.
