259 problems related to instrument panel have been reported for the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2004 chevy Trailblazer. Instrument cluster (speedometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, rpm gauge) inop. Gauges consistently don't work. Speedometer can be off 10 ,20 or 70 mph. Tremendously unsafe. From research, gm knows about this widespread problem. Almost runover by a truck on the interstate. Thought I was going 65 mph on a dark, deserted stretch of highway. Was actually going 35 mph.
I have a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. For the past year the speedometer has run amok. I can be traveling at 30, 50, etc. Mph and the needle ranges from 20 mph over the speed limit and at times surpassed the 120 mph mark on the dial. Can you help? thanks.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the instrument panel became inoperable and he was unable to determine how much gasoline was in the vehicle or how fast and slow it was traveling. The dealer advised the contact to replace the cluster panel at his own expense. The manufacturer was not notified nor was the vehicle repaired. The current mileage was 130,000. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was unavailable.
2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer speed cluster problem.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While at a stop light, the contact noticed the speedometer was providing a speed reading of 60 mph. The reading of the other gauges on the instrument panel also fluctuated erratically. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. Kmj.
Yesterday my speedometer needle started jumping between numbers rather than moving smoothly. Today it stopped working completely, it stayed below the 0 and wouldn't register the speed at all. I stopped at a chevy dealership on the way into work and was told the instrument cluster had to be replaced at my cost of about $400. Driving away from the dealership the speedometer started moving slowly (I was going around 55 mph but the speedometer showed 15 - 20 mph. ) when I got to work I ran an internet search and found that this is a recall for chevy trucks but not for Trailblazers. Also found numerous complaint sites with consumers reporting the exact same issue (model year and mileage varied. ) obviously this is a widespread issue and should be addressed by a recall from gm. This presents a safety hazard as most consumers don't have the money for the repair cost so they aren't fixing the faulty speedometers which could lead to accidents and fatalities.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the entire instrument panel was reading inaccurately. The dealer was not made aware of the failure, but the manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 39,000 and the current mileage was 47,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 70 mph the instrument panel stopped functioning. The speedometer did not display the speed that the vehicle was traveling. The fuel gauge also did not display the correct amount of fuel in the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be repaired. The dealer stated that the contact had to pay the repair costs. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics or repairs. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000. Kmj.
The speedometer on my 2004 Trailblazer is broken, it does not go below 90mpg, so 90 is my new 0. This just happened and from looking into it is very common. This is very costly to fix and a safety hazard and should be a recall. Gm had recalls on it's other SUV's for the same issue.
The gauges on my 2004 did not work the tachometer I see there are many complaints for this,. I want to have it fixed before the speedometer stops working too.
I was driving down the highway and looked at my speedometer and it said I was going 80 miles an hour and I noticed all the other cars were passing me! I then noticed my speedometer continuing to rise until it went to 120 mph! I knew I wasn't going that fast. Sometimes it works if I shut the truck off and on until it gets to 0 mph but then it only works for a short period of time and goes crazy again.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the instrumental panel gauges, including the speedometer and the odometer, failed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnosis of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current was unknown.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact was driving at an unknown speed when he noticed all of the gauges on the instrumental panel were displaying improper readings. The failure was constant yet the vehicle was not taken to be examined for the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 63,000.
Speedometer quit working while I was driving. I had slowed down because the speed limit slowed and the speedometer just stayed at the same speed. We pulled over and stopped and it stayed at 60. We turned the car off and then started it again. The speedometer did not move. It has now been over a week and has stayed at 80 and does not go back to zero.
Was driving and my speedometer started acting up. . . . Giving wrong readings and saying I was going 80 mph when I was stopped all together. No it is permanently stuck on my 2004 Trailblazer.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact noticed that the tachometer began moving erratically while driving 10 mph and then it stopped functioning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the dashboard cluster assembly. The failure mileage was 17008 and the current mileage was 17185.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving 70 mph the contact noticed that the speedometer increased from 70 mph to 120 mph. Although the speedometer read 120 mph the vehicle was not traveling at that speed. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer regarding the instrument panel and they stated that it needed to be replaced. The contact has reviewed concerns regarding the instrument cluster for his year make and model and since there was a related recall, the manufacturer should be responsible for the repairs. The failure mileage was 42,397. Updated 3/16/10 the consumer was informed his vehicle was not included in the recall, because the instrument cluster panel was made by another manufacturer. Updated 06/11/10.
I also just had to replace the cluster for my instrument panel in my 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. I find it very interesting, the number of cars that are having the same failure as I have had at approximately the same time.
I was drving down the road and the speedometer stopped working while the truck was in motion. It went from 60 mph to the needle going all the way past 120 and pointing down at the odometer. My speed did not change during all this.
I have encountered a problem with the speedometer not working properly or not working at all in some cases. I was going about 60 to 65 mph when the speedometer was reading over 100mph now the speedometer is not working, there has been report that other Trailblazer were doing the same, there should be an recall on this.
My 2004 chevy Trailblazer oil, gas and battery gauges have all stopped working. When I turn on my heated seats they smell like they're burning!! I have read 100's of complaints of similar stories with same problems. We need a recall, it is not safe!!!!!.
My 2004 chevy Trailblazer oil, gas, speedometer and battery gauges stopped working and my heated seats smell like they're burning when turned on.
2004 chevy Trailblazers instrument panel isn't working properly. The rpm gauge fluctuates and often doesn't work which seems to cause the speedometer to respond slowly. I have heard from others with the same issue that eventually the speedometer will quit as will the gas gauge, oil gauge, etc. This is a potential hazard that has not been recalled by chevy. Other models of the same year have been recalled, but not the Trailblazer.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving 55 mph the contact noticed that the speedometer was no longer working properly. He stated that he could no longer tell what speed the vehicle was traveling. The failure had occurred for almost a year. The vehicle was not taken to an authorized dealer for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000 and the current mileage was 86,000.
Jan 13, 2010 I started my 2004 chevy Trailblazer and the entire instrument panel was not working. There has been no accident, fire, flood or any other thing that would have caused this to happen. I do not feel I can safely drive my vehicle and am not aware of any recalls even though I have found hundreds of other similar complaints of the same problem.
While driving my 2004 chevy Trailblazer home from work about 3 months ago I noticed my speedometer reading at 0, however I was driving approx. 30 miles per hour at the time. I accelerated to check to see if that would make the speedometer move above 0, but it stayed at 0. I informed my spouse of this speedometer misread and he attributed it to the cold weather. My spouse thought that the speedometer would return to normal once the weather warmed up. Well, the temperature warmed to 65 degrees and once again my speedometer continued to malfunction and read below 0, while driving. My husband has also noticed that the speedometer wasn't working while he was driving. They speedometer just stops working sometimes without warning. Two weeks ago my family and I started out on a 180 mile highway trip and within 20 miles from my home the speedometer just started descending to below 0 while I was driving on the highway and it remained there for the entire trip!!!!! I feel that this is a very hazardous situation and these vehicles should be recalled. After finding numerous other chevy owners experiencing the same problem, it frustrates me to think that chevy does not feel that this isn't important enough or serious enough to correct this problem at their expense!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is my only vehicle and I depend on the safety of this vehicle to transport my family which includes a 3yr. Old and 13yr. Old every day to school and daycare. And furthermore, I should not have to worry about getting a speeding ticket because I am unaware of my actual speed. I shouldn't have to alter my travel plans in fear of getting pulled over on the highway for this speedometer malfunctioning either. Please recall these vehicles immediately.
Instrument panel - complete failure while vehicle was in service. Was driving down i95 near richmond va and the speedometer did not decrease in speed while I was slowing down. When I accelerated the speedometer would increase and would not drop. The speedometer final reached 120mph. Safety issue as one is unable to know what speed one is traveling which could have led to an accident. Took vehicle to GMC / Buick / Cadillac dealer in athens GA. Took one week to get a replacement cluster box. Cost of repair $401. 50. Contacted gm.
The speedometer has quit working properly in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer with 71,000 miles. It is impossible to know the rate of speed of the vehicle while driving. The repair has not been made yet.
I have a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The instrument panel only works intermittently. I have checked the internet and this seems to be one of the most numerous complaints. I feel as if this present a safety hazard. Since this is your job to protect the public from defective automobiles I feel you should investigate this matter. Thank you. Randall saltink.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. He stated that the instrument panel would intermittently fail. He verified that the speedometer and fuel level indicator would not read properly. There were also other random warning lights that would illuminate sporadically. The dealer stated that the vehicle could be repaired at the owners expense. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 63,500. Updated 05/13/10.
Tachometer and speedometer on my 2004 chevy Trailblazer do not work. Problem started intermittently at approximately 60,000 miles. Initially the problem only occurred after using cruise control. However, the vehicle now has over 70,000 miles and both gauges do not work at all. Vehicle hasn ever been in any accident to cause this issue. Speedometer dial now reads past 120 mph even when car is stopped. Fuel gauge also has recently started to fail.
This issue needs to be addressed, my speedometer and trans meter on left of speedometer started showing my Chevrolet speed was 80 miles an hour even in park. Then while I drive it will move to 100 miles an hour while I'm driving 35, and it moves up and down depending on my speed. Some times it will work other times it will not show the correct speed, or acceleration on trans meter to the left of speedometer. I have went online and seen 1000's of people saying the same thing at the same miles of the Chevrolet. 70,000-90,000 most are around 80,000. Shouldn't this have been recalled years ago? and why have this issue been ignored for so long?.
The tachometer needle points straight down and does not respond to engine speed. According to information online, the problem will progress to the other gauges inside the instrument panel of my vehicle. It will be a safety issue when the speedometer stops working. Gm has made repairs for some models but not the Trailblazer.
The speedometer goes off most of the time you can turn of vehicle then just keep clicking and it will go back to 0 sometimes you star driving and it will go start acting up again and sometimes it stays the way it should be. I think this is a safety hazard you don't know if it is working properly or not and you really don't know the speed which you are traveling. I have request at many places to fix the problem but have been told over and over again that I may spend the money to replace the cluster which is what is causing this problem but it would probably do the same thing. From there knowledge of this problem there are many of these with this problem and I am told if I replace it the other that I replace it with would probably do the same thing. So I am just wondering how can this company get away with letting this problem exist. This is a very unsafe issue and if I cant resolve this I am going to have to trade in for another form of transportation. Please help me with this issue I have kids and a grandchild that depend on this car for transportation and I want them to be safe all the time not just sometimes when the cluster wants to work.
