My vehicle is currently parked in my family's garage, as I am experiencing a strong gas smell. There is no visible leak, but I do not dare to transport my children in the vehicle until I can find what the gas smell is originating from.

After taking my vehicle in for yearly inspection my mechanic informed me that the alternator bearings are bad and that it needs immediate repair. I was informed that this is serious because the vehicle may give me problems at any time without warning. This is extremely unsettling to me because I have to have a vehicle I can depend on to drive my husband to an out of town hospital at any given moment, and drive on an extremely busy highway. (the schuykill expressway) my mechanic stated that this is very unusual because the vehicle had less than 30,000 miles and this doesn't usually till at least 100,000 miles. Another problem is the gas gauge has not worked for two years, again this is unsettling because of driving out of town at any time of day or night on a busy highway. General motors said they would pay half of the repair but why must I pay anything when it is apparent that the part they used was faulty.

Ran out of gas, because the fuel guage does not work properly.
Fuel sensor never gives correct reading causing me to run out of gas on 2 separate occasions, also the drivers side door control panel keeps going on and off only working some of the time and going in and out as I am driving.

Filled up the vehicle at the gas station and when vehicle was restarted fuel gauge was reading empty. Fuel gauge has since not functioned properly.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph the vehicle suddenly stalled without any warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who advised her that the gasoline sensor was not reading the fuel properly. The dealer also advised her that there was no oil in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
Nhtsa action number: dp10001 fuel gauge not working properly. Gauge will show empty when vehicle is full; gauge will show full when the vehicle is empty. The gauge indicator started fluxing between full, empty and levels in between. Now it typically stays at empty all the time regardless of the amount of fuel.
I was driving on the highway at 70mph when my engine suddenly cut. I lost power steering and breaks. Luckily, traffic was clear enough and an exit ramp was accessible; however, I had a very difficult time steering to the side and thought I was going to be unable to break. I was stranded on the off ramp for hours by myself in 40 degree weather and no heat. My gas guage has not worked for several months (see my first complaint 10408603). I have been guessing at amount of fuel by miles driven. I should have had at least 30 miles more of gas. Obviously, this is not a safe way to guage fuel level. It will cost $600 to have the fuel system fixed. Because this is an obvious problem with Trailblazers, I feel the company should issue a recall.
Gas gauge reads empty even after vehicle has been filled up. This problem has occurred for a year. Have ran out of gas on the freeway on 4 occassions.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated the fuel gauge was providing inaccurate fuel levels. The contact stated that when refueling, the fuel gauge would read accurately but would fail after several moments after driving. The dealer was contacted and advised that the fuel sensor failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
Everytime I would fill up the car, it would go to e with the light on and now it stays on empty. Can't tell how much GA is in it. It should be a Chevrolet recall since it is happening to a lot of Chevrolet owns.
Fuel guage not working properly.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel gauge malfunctioned due to a faulty fuel sensor and the contact was not able to read the correct fuel levels in the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and offered to cover fifty percent of the repair costs. The failure mileage was 105,000.
Went to get gas for my 2005 chevy Trailblazer. When I did I got back in the vehicle and started the car. The empty sensor for the gas dinged alerting me that I was almost out of gas and wouldn't go above the empty level. It now plays tricks ranging from full to empty at any given pointit can be full 1 time then go to 1/4 full then back up to full in 1 trip to the store. It appears this is a common issue from research on the internet.
My 2005 Trailblazer has begun to have several problems and in speaking to other chevy owners the same problems have been found in other models and years of chevy trucks and suvs. I'm very disappointed to see that chevy chooses not to recall, which is why I'll never purchase another Chevrolet. Beginning a few months ago my gauges began to be erratic. Starting with my speedometer sticking at zero and then later sticking at 60mph even while sitting still. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Next while sitting at traffice lights or stops signs my engine began to surge forward without applying the gas. When the vehicle surges the rpm gauge also jumps up. I already replaced one transmission at 50k miles and now since passing 100k miles have begun to have rough shifting again in my vehicle. I do not drive my vehicle in a rough manner, speed, or haul a trailer, so there is no reason to be going through transmissions. Now my fuel gauge has stopped working and I'm having to track my mileage with my odometer. I've never seen a vehicle with so many problems and no help offered from the maker. * tr.
Fuel gage when driving will show inaccurate gas level. Drops down to empty a lot after you pumped. Gas will fill up after pump on gage, but almost close to half when driving will go down and hit empty when gas is in vehicle.
I was driving home from work and started hearing the trucks undercarriage start to rattle and grind on the bumps of the road. I had a sudden loss of power on engine and it wouldnt respond to my pressing on the gas. I believed that I had gas in the truck because the gauge read half full and apparently I was out of gas. So I proceeded to pull into a gas station and as soon as we filled up, the truck would not start! I saw that my check engine light was on and had to ask for a jumpstart to get it started again. At another time and date again the truck went dead, I asked for a jumpstart and the vehicle would not respond. I now had to buy a new battery because the car damaged the original battery and now with the new battery installed my car starts but will not stay on without me pressing on the gas while in park gear. I believe something may be defective with the electrical gauges, fuel delivery system, and suspension.

I have a 2005 chevy Trailblazer the gas gauge has stopped working. It is always on empty even when I fill it up. I received a letter that gm would pay for half only if it had less than 100,000 miles on it. I have seen this is a constant problem but still no recall.
Noticed gasoline odors inside the vehicle on oct. 2011. Personal auto mechanic told me last week that there's a crack on the fuel fill neck area where the gas nozzle is inserted.
The gas gauge on the vehicle has stopped working. I called gm and they state that there is no recall even though this a common problem on this vehicle line. Gm needs to do a full recall and not only offer to pay for half of the repairs to the vehicle for this issue.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was inoperable and the speedometer was permanently stuck at 20 mph. In addition, the fuel warning light was constantly illuminated despite how much fuel was in the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected. The current mileage was 88,200 and the failure mileage was unknown. Updated 11/16/lj.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel sending unit was broken and causing the fuel gauge to provide a constant empty reading. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer sent a letter to the contact advising that there was special coverage for vehicle with 120,000 miles or less for a free repair. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance to the contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 189,000.
Actually the issue just started today and I got the letter from gm stating they installed a faulty fuel level sensor and are offering to pay 50% if we have it fixed at a chevy dealership. I looked on the internet and it sounds like a very common problem for Trailblazer owners. Sounds like chevy is just trying to do damage control with there 50% offer. I think its making things worse because they should issue a recall on this since they are admitting to the faulty sensor. What needs to happen for this to become a recall? thanks.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds the vehicle would stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they advised the contact that the evaporator vent failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Updated 10/12/11.
The gas gauge on my 2006 chevy Trailblazer no longer works it started fluctuating at about 109,000 miles now I'm at about 150,000 and it hasn't worked for months now. My wife has run out of gas twice now on the interstate at 4:00 in the morning going to work with semi trucks barreling down on her not knowing why she couldn't accelerate.
Fuel level sensor stopped working.
The fuel gauge stopped registering the correct level. It constantly shows empty and then goes erratically from empty to full. The check engine light also is on and will not go out. Chevy has mailed me a letter stating they will cover 50% of the cost of repair even though they now have almost 1 million vehicles with the same issue. And they wonder why americans purchase foreign (dependable) cars! gm needs to man up and and pay for the entire repair!!!!!.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that after refueling, the fuel gauge displayed a reading of empty and the no fuel indicator light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 99,000.
Chevrolet should be made to pay full price for the repair of the fuel sensor. Why should I have to pay half for replacing a faulty product. I purchased the vehicle for it to run perfectly. Since the problem we have twice been stuck on the road with no gas. Trying to estimate fuel consumption for our next fill up is ridiculous. I have heard of drivers running out of gas on the highway, a very dangerous situation.
Chevrolet Trailblazer 2006- gas gage- I filled up my car with gasoline two nights ago (8/30/11) and found as I went to leave for work this morning that my gas gage read I was on empty. After refilling 3 more gallons (until it was full) I found to my surprise that the gage still read empty. I have read all over this website and others that this is a huge problem. The new york times released an article stating that the national highway traffic safety administration had revealed general motors was under investigation on April 29th 2011 with the following statement “the agency said it had received 668 complaints, including 58 in which the consumer said the vehicle stalled when it ran out of gas, even though the gauge indicated that fuel remained. € this investigation started months ago and I would like an answer as to why all of us have been paying for these repairs out of our pockets, when there is clearly an issue with the vehicle.
The bearings on the alternator are wearing and need to be replaced, the vehicle only has 29,000 miles and according to my mechanic they should not be worn this early and should be replaced as soon as possible; this is definately a safety issue and a faulty part that I should not have to pay to have replaced. The fuel level indicator has stopped working over 2. 5 years ago. I did receive a letter saying that the part may wear out prematurely and they are willing to pay 50% of the replacement but if it wears out prematurely then the part is faulty and I should not have to pay to replace the part. The backup light panel is bad, I tried to replace the bulb but the problem lies with the panel, fauilty part again.
Everytime I fill up with fuel my fuel gauge reads empty, my gas light and check engine light come on. Once I drive about 50 miles and restart a time or two everything goes back to normal. It has been happening for a few months. From reading on trailvoy. Com it appears to be very common problem.
Filled by my 2007 chevy Trailblazer yesterday and the fuel gauge reads empty and the fuel light stays on. Took my vechicle to the dealer and was told that I missed the warranty by 3,000 miles and it will be almost $800 to repair. Have read online that hundreds of consumers are experiencing the same problem with the same type of vechicle from 2005-2007 so there is obviously a defect in the manufactuer. This needs to be looked into and handled, it is obvious the dealer needs to reacall these vechicles and correct the problem.
