2 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

Very strong gasoline smell! the whole garage and entrance to my kitchen strongly smelled of gasoline one morning when I went out to take my children to school. I took it in immediately and the stealership informed me that the fuel tank filler neck had broken loose from the tank and the fuel pressure regulator and seals were leaking, the exact same problem that gm had a recall on for the Trailblazer ext. I notified gm about the issue asking for any help at all with the situation, but since my Trailblazer was not under the recall they were unable to do anyting for me. It is a sad day when peoples lives are being threatened by poorly designed vehicles all in the name of making a buck. You can go on line all day long and find the same complaints from gm customers experiencing the same problem I am. With the publicity they've had in the news lately and the current lawsuits against them, we all know how gm feels about helping people who have bought their defective products. They would just as soon sweep the problem under the rug while innocent people die because of their dishonesty. Would someone with enough power and $$$ please step up and force them to take responsibility for the problems they have created?.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/13/2014

Cluster gauges are going out. The speedometer quick working a few years ago and is intermittent at best on a daily basis. It either indicates a lesser or greater speed than actual or just falls to point straight down. I have been using a mounted gps to indicate speed. Initial repair cost estimates were $500+ for the parts since they will only replace the entire gauge cluster. With labor, the estimate was in excess of $800. Fuel gauge is now inoperative or intermittent. When I fill the tank, the fuel gauge reads way past the full line. Having to rely of the ¿fuel to empty and the ¿fuel used computer information along with the the trip meter to estimate fuel. Received another estimate for a mechanic to pull the gauge cluster and rebuild each individual gauge motor for an estimate of $500. Based upon the number similar complaints on this same thing, this appears to be a manufacturing defect that needs to be corrected by gm.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/11/2013

Bought used, mileage indicated above. The fuel gauge was showing an approximate proper amount at 1/4 tank. On first fuel up, full, the fuel gauge went to show "empty". It stayed like this for an approx. 1/4 tank, then went to the actual fuel amount. This occurred for about the next 5 fill ups, then the fuel gauge would not work at all. . . . Always showing empty. This has caused me running out of fuel twice, luckily I was able to stop vehicle safely, both times I was in moderate to heavy traffic. I have found no recalls, but many complaints! what's up with this! I have lost trust in chevy for not fixing an obvious factory problem!.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/10/2013

My fuel gauge reads empty after I fill the tank with fuel. After driving some duration of time the tank will only read a quarter of a tank full. I find this to be a hazard because I travel for long distance trips and you are unable to get an accurate reading of the amount of fuel that is in your tank. I have read this to be an issue on multiple different websites with the same make and model and I believe that GMC should offer to pay full price and fix the issue because it appears to be a defect.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/01/2013

Gas gauge registers empty regardless of amount of gasoline in tank.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/16/2012

The vehicle had a very strong smell of gasoline inside the SUV and also outside and when I stopped on road fuel was pouring out of it and I got so frightened that it would catch fire. My fuel tank guage went from a full tank to less than a half tank of gas in a matter of minutes and the SUV was sluggish and felt weird. I took the SUV immediately to my car repair place and they dismantled the gas tank and found the fuel module to have a hole in it and is corroded. I looked online and there is a NHTSA action number of pe07013 on it and I found hundreds of complaints about this online and I am very upset as this repair is going to cost me close to a thousand dollars and I am a disabled american veteran and this amount of money is very hard for me to come up with. Also the SUV was very unsafe and if I continued to drive it I am sure it would have went up in flames. My SUV is at levines auto repair garage in new windsor NY 12553 and their number is 845-219-5508 . I want to know what my rights are as to this matter. Thank you. 8 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/25/2012

I was refueling on gas, when I started that truck back up, my fuel indicator light came on stating that the truck was empty of fuel. Now mind you I just placed $44. 50 into the gas tank which at the time the gas pump click to let me know the tank was full of fuel. It took about 2 days for the fuel indicator to show the correct amount of fuel in the truck. Now ever time I fill up the fuel indicator light states it is empty after turning the truck back on and off on the fourth time then the indicator light will shut off and fuel gauge will show that correct amount of gas.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/21/2012

Was smelling gas inside and outside of car. Upon inspection discovered the gas tank is leaking. Reading recalls discovered gm is only replacing tanks on vehicles made at certain factories and only in certain geographical areas. With the amount of vehicles affected gm should have to replace them all without discrimination. This vehicle has been nothing but a money pit for me and has been the worse car I ever owned based on repairs required to keep it going.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/08/2012

I just gased the Chevrolet Trailblazer and was driving down the road and we could smell gas did not think much of it because we just got gas then the check engine light came on it was a po442 code evaporative emission control small leak detected so I have been smelling gas off and on and keep getting the po442 code. So I go buy a vent valve solenoid and put it on clear the code I notice gas around the intake pipe on the gas tank so I take a closer look and its broke half way around the filler neck and this is a recall on certain VIN #s but mine is not included in this recall I think it should be when you are dealing with fuel and the amount of fuel that can leak out this can be a fire hazard for sure I think gm needs to step up and take care of this problem on all vehicles that have this problem instead of picking an choosing certain VIN #s.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

I went to gas station and filled up my gas tank. When I left the gas station, my fuel light was on showing my gas tank was empty. Over the next several months, the gas gage would go up and down and not show the correct amount of gas. Now, it always shows empty with the gas light on. This is an issue not knowing how much gas I have at any time.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/19/2011

The Trailblazer stalled while in traffic. The car's gas gauge did not report the correct amount of fuel in the tank. The gauge went out permanently a short time later.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/17/2011

A week ago, my gas guage light came on like normal indicating I needed fuel. I filled up my gas tank. When I started my engine, the gas guage light was still on and the gas guage indicated empty. In fact, it showed less gas than prior to the fill-up. Over the week, the gas guage appeared to correct itself. However, I again filled my gas tank yesterday because my gas guage indicator was on. Once again, the light remained on after filling my tank and the guage showed less gas than prior to fill up. I am very concerned about this as I could easily run out of gas without realizing I needed fuel. I will be making a trip to parris island, SC in August to see my daughter graduate from the us marine corps basic training program. That is a 16 hour drive, one way. If I cannot guage the amount of fuel I have for the trip, my family could be stranded in the middle of nowhere. I heard about the possible recall due to this investigation; therefore, I have not tried to repair or replace the vehicle at this point.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/18/2011

I own a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer with about 87000 miles on it. Recently the fuel gauge has been showing empty upon starting with the low fuel light being on. As you drive sometimes the gauge will show the amount of fuel in the tank and sometimes it varies and is all over the place making it impossible to determine how much fuel you have left. I am making it a habit to monitor my miles so as to not run out of fuel. No accidents or injuries have occurred related to this issue, it is just a nuisance at this time. I haven't had it repaired as it involves replacing the fuel pump/sending unit at an estimated cost of $800. This is just an fyi type thing to show you that many of these type vehicles have this issue. Thank you for your time.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/23/2011

Problems with my 2005 chevy Trailblazer started with a series of engine lights, misfiring and stalling at low speeds and upon acceleration. My thermostat has been replaced numerous amount of times . I do preventative maintenance to keep my car in good working condition. I'm a single parent I need my car. My entire dashboard stopped working after getting stuck on and off. The fuel gauge was last to go 3 days ago. I fill up my tank it still reads empty with the light. My tailgate door the latch locks up. I manually have to move to latch so it closes. My doors sticking when the car is unlocked and it hard to get out the locks don't unlatch the first time. My car is very nice until u get in it to see everything is malfunctioning. I guess my speed, gas level and that's not cool. I been going through these same problems since 2011 and it's 2014. The fuel gauge was the last to go recently. When I fill up my tank it still reads empty with the indicator light. My repair was $565 we thought it was exhaust leak and had to replace the entire manifold it was cracked. . . I absolutely can't afford anything else and I need tires. Please help I'm furious. . When you purchase a vehicle you expect it to last. That doesn't. My mechanics have been the same since day one and have given me every discount and warranty . I want my vehicle repaired I can't physically cause this type of damage . It's internal and not my fault. I have never had a car with this temperament . I have had 4 cars previous to this one and they lasted through the years until I decided to change cars. Everyone has the same problems with their vehicle as I do . How is that possible? manufacturers should value quality not quantity. I have every single document to verify this as well as my mechanics. I would like my vehicle repaired and to be reimbursed.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Fuel gauge indicator remains illuminated after filling with fuel. The gauge and message bar indicated that there is low fuel no matter how full the tank is. As a result, I have to use the trip meter and assume that I need to fill up at around 250 miles. I have run out of gas twice even before that amount of miles. I have called my local dealer and Chevrolet corporate but they will not take responsibility for repairs and state that the vehicle is out of warranty. This is absolutely a manufacturers defect. The failure mileage was 50,000 and current mileage is 60,000.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/15/2010

I own a 2004 chevy Trailblazer. I purchased it used from a dealer in December of 2010. I notice since I have owned it that there is something wrong with the gas gauge. It will show a decent amount of gas in the tank then by the time I get out of my driveway it is showing empty. It will go up and down all the time. I know I am not out of gas, because I make sure to put gas in every day because I am not sure what is in the tank because of this problem. I was going to take it to a machanic to have them look at it and fix the problem. Since seeing that an investigation is being done for the same exact problem, I decided to write here first. I am requesting that the years investigated also included 2004, since it is the same problem that is being investigated by your agency.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

The gas/fuel gage does not show correct amount of fuel in the tank. It show very little gas ( and mileage available) when the gas tank is full. Or it show no gas at all - and the "low fuel " light comes on even if the tank was just filled up.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/10/2010

Chevrolet Trailblazer (2006) fuel gage does not work. Gives no indication of amount of fuel in tank.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/06/2010

I have a 2005 Trailblazer LS. My fuel guage is reading incurrectly, despite filling my tank full with gas the dial goes back to empty. The dial on the guage moves some times but mostly either remains on empty and nevers read the correct amount of gas. This has happened to me before about 3 years ago while I had my extended warranty, not to mention my friend had the same issue with her Trailblazer and gave the whole truck back. Needless to say I have family and the last thing I need to happen is to run out of gas because I can't tell how much gas is in my truck.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

I have a 2007 chevy Trailblazer that has issues with the gas gauge reading. My gas gauge all of sudden stopped registering the amount of full in the tank at around 60,000 miles. It would show empty when I had just filled it up full. Now my gas gauge always shows empty and this in turn also makes the check engine light come on all the time. I have to fill up every 300 miles just to make sure I don't run out of gas. When I talked to the local dealership they said it was the fuel sensor in the tank but gm hadn't recalled it. I searched all over the internet and found this to be a problem with my year Trailblazer. Many others have experienced the same problem. I have not repaired it because it was over $700. It seems to me that if this is a problem with 2005-2007 Trailblazers that gm would do something about it. I know there are far more people out there who haven't complained.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/20/2010

The gas gauge began to malfunction, indicating that the tank was empty when it was not or inaccurately measuring the amount of fuel. This also triggers the engine light to go on and now happens consistently when the vehicle is turned on. The vehicle has 60,000 miles and the part was replaced for $530.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/01/2009

My 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer has a defective fuel sensor. The fuel gauge constantly stays yellow - indicating empty - regardless of actual fuel level, causing me to use only my tripometer to gauge the amount of mileage I have left on a tank of fuel. It also causes the engine light to come on whenever I fill up. As my vehicle is out of warranty, the repair would cost approximately $1000 to fix an issue that I'm finding out is a prevalent issue with the several gm products - with no recourse through Chevrolet.

24 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

Gas gage, shoes it has a different amount of gas. . When turned off it can say its at 1/2 a tank, then when the engine is on it showes that car has 1 1/2 tanks of gas. Its not consistent and I always have to guess how much gas is in the car. Also the check light is always on. The gas tank has issues too.

25 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/01/2009

Gas gauge on 2006 chevy Trailblazer faulty. Does not show correct amount of gas in tank. I notified gm saying I did not think it was right for the gauge to be bad already because it was only a 2006 vehicle. I was given the run around and they basically said they would not fix it.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/26/2009

I own a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext and the fuel gauge never registers the correct amount of fuel. It always fluctuates between empty and 3/4 full even after filling the tank completely. I have had this problem for at least one month now and the repairs will be at least $500. 00 to complete. . Read more...

27 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/01/2008

The gas tank ball sensor is defective and causes the environmental light to go on. The fuel tank always shows that its empty and can lead to people being stranded due to unknown amounts of fuel in the tank.
