4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/27/2020

The gas gauge shows empty even after the tank is filled. Other 2005 Trailblazer models have had a recall on this issue regarding the gas gauge and sensor but my model did not. It also causes the check engine light to come on after putting fuel in the gas tank. The gas gauge shows empty at all times ( when your moving, and stationary). Not accurately knowing how much gas is the vehicle can cause you to stall out while on city streets or on the highway driving 60 mph.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

As you come to a complete stop or go under 5 mph, the vehicle's oil gauge will go all the way down. Once you accelerate, the oil gauge goes back to normal. When pumping gas into the vehicle, the gas pump will reset as if the gas tank is full but the gauge shows it's half empty.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/09/2020

Gas gauge doesn't work. Needle on e and light stays on. Person I bought it from reports broken when she bought it used. I trip mileage to o when I get gas. Then by # of gallons I put in I estimate how many miles I think I can travel. It's not always possible to keep tank filled.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/16/2019

The gas gauge quit working! I just put 50. 00 dollars in my gas tank and drove 12 miles to get my three grandchildren. We were on the freeway going 64 miles per hr in the fast lane. I had to immediately get over three lanes to get off the freeway but only made it to the slow lane. I had to call 911 because it was a very dangerous situation. I almost got hit eight times waiting for the state trooper to get to me so he could push us out of harms way with his patrol car. I can't believe this wasn't a recall! this is a big safety issue please do something about this.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/25/2018

Fuel tank levels not accurate. Yellow light warning when tank is near full capacity . Happens all of the time now. .

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

In 2018 we were having a fuel pressure issue and discovered that the icv had cracked around the gas tank. When I researched the issue I found there was a special coverage warranty for the issue and called the nearest chevy dealership. They told me that the coverage had expired a month earlier and they wouldn't honor the coverage but if we wanted the car fixed it would be over$1000. We're not the first owner of the vehicle and im sure that's why I never received the notice of the special coverage. Considering this is an issue with the fuel tank and I have children in my car, I'm not understanding why this special coverage expired in the first place. People buy used cars all the time and if the dealership didn't catch it before selling the car it's unfair to put the expense on the new owner when it's a defect caused by the manufacturer's choice in unreliable parts.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/15/2018

I have a heavy fuel runoff , from my fuel tank. Even if the engine is only ran for a minute. Also, my headlights go out whenever they feel like doing so,while driving.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/28/2018

Erratic fuel gauge. Fluctuates constantly between full and empty. This occurs whether the vehicle is in motion or at a stop. Whether the tank is full or partial does not matter. Cannot rely on gas gauge any longer. Could cause a stall while in motion which would be a serious safety concern. There are thousands of complaints regarding this matter all over the internet. A recall should be put in place. Before someone dies.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

The whole instrument cluster does not work anymore, does not let me know how fast I'm going or how much fuel I have, oil pressure gauge doesn't work, temperature gauge doesn't work. . . Why hasn't this been recalled? this is very dangerous, considering I have 4 kids that are constantly in the car with me and I have no idea what is going on with my vehicle?? and it also tells me that my fuel level is low, even after I fill my tank. This seems like a very common problem in these vehicles, why has it not been considered a safety issue????.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

I can't tell if my tank is full or empty.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 08/05/2017

The gas sensor in my gas tank is faulty. Chevrolet admitted to this by offering a partial coverage on the repair but now that program has ended. I️ am forced to pay for this repair in its entirety to the tune of $1,000. Chevy has acknowledged the problem and expired the program to help cover the cost to replace their defective part. ?.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/24/2017

My wife called me from work complaining of strong gas smell, after looking around and under vehicle found nothing looked again when we brought it home ,but left it running this time and gas is pouring out from rusted fittings on top of the tank.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

The fuel level sensor is a very common problem. The tank is filled full but it will always read empty. I already have a refurbished cluster so it will not be the cluster's fault. Gm needs to recall the fuel level sensor to be fixed to avoid accidents on the road.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/12/2017

The gas gauge is not working and the fuel light stays on even when the tank is full of gas. Vehicle was stationary at a gas station when fuel gauge malfunctioned.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/10/2017

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact noticed an odor of fuel coming from the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage and VIN were not available.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/18/2017

Fuel gauge sensor not working properly. When fueling up, the gas gauge falls to 0, after turning the vehicle on and the low fuel sensor light comes on and dings. After a few miles the gauge goes to 1/4 of a tank indicating there is gas, but not indicative of actually what is in the tank. I have tried to reset my tripometer every time I fuel up, and then stop at the gas station and refuel every 240 miles. However this past weekend I ran out of fuel and the vehicle came to a stop on a major highway. I know now that this is also unreliable and will make it a point to stop at every 200 miles.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/16/2017

Vehicle was serviced for a faulty fuel level float sensor, which was registering that there was no fuel in the gas tank when the tank was full. 7 days later, while driving on a busy freeway, all of the gauges on the gauge cluster started spinning out of control and the vehicle lost complete power while driving 65 mph. I had to merege across 4 lanes on the freeway in heavy traffic and nearly got run over. No power to the engine at all - it just died while I was driving. Of course, onstar and the Chevrolet dealer that performed all of the service on the vehicle were no help. While waiting for onstar, my vehicle was towed off the freeway.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/27/2016

My 2005 chevy Trailblazer ext is leaking gas from the gas tank underneath the vehicle when the SUV is running.

25 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/21/2016

Let me begin with stating that my 2004 Trailblazer has had its service engine soon (ses) light on for well over a year due to a large evap leak (code p0455). As a result, I have taken it to two mechanics, had the purge solenoid valve replaced twice, had a plethora of smoke tests and all other tests done, with no resolve. I received a letter from gm (dated a year before) just a couple weeks ago stating that "some 2004 model year Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles may contain a fuel tank inlet check valve (icv) that could fracture. . A fractured icv could allow fuel vapors to pass through and droplets of fuel to accumulate on the side of the fuel tank". The letter goes on to describe that gm will repair the icv if the condition occurs within 15 years the vehicle was originally placed in service or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. My Trailblazer has been in service for 12 years, however I just passed 155,000 miles. Had I been notified around the time the letter was supposed to arrive, I could have easily taken my Trailblazer to the dealership and had this repair done with no qualms. However, because I have passed the 150,000 mile mark, gm refuses to cover this repair. This is extremely upsetting considering the obvious safety risk presented with "droplets of fuel accumulating on the side of the fuel tank". When speaking to a gm representative this morning, I was told to take my car to a dealership and this would be an out-of-pocket expense. Considering the safety issue, I want my Trailblazer to be repaired and covered by gm as it should be for all Trailblazer and envoy owners with this problem.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/07/2016

Error code indicates a problem with the evap system. Won't pass state emission test. Cant diagnose further because of a gas leak at the gas tank filler hose connection to the gas tank. Notified by mechanic that they replaced tanks up to 150,000 miles but my truck is 185,000.

27 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/10/2016

Fuel gauge was on 1/2 tank. I went to the gas station to fill it up and all of a sudden the gauge meter went to the left and read "empty" and the low fuel light came on even though I had a full tank of gas. I restarted the truck and the fuel gauge meter still read low (less than a 1/4 tank), it eventually returned the to the 1/2 gauge/meter mark. Car was stationery at the gas station at time of the incident, then I eventually drove off at low speed.

28 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. When the vehicle was started, a strong odor of fuel was present. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a failure with the fuel tank. The vehicle was kept at the dealer for four weeks. The dealer stated that the part needed to repair the vehicle was not available and needed to be ordered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,500.

29 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Cannot put gas in tank because of back pressure.

30 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/18/2016

My vehicle is in the gm special coverage adjustment program number 07099 and is under the gm spl coverage pgm update 14423. I was notified that the icv could fracture and create an 'engine service soon' light. That light was activated in February. I took it in, it's the icv. They said they'd replace the fuel tank as soon as they could get parts. They still don't have the replacement -- and say it could be may or June. Meanwhile the 'check engine' light could be on for icv -- or it could be another problem. With dripping fuel out in the open, it's a safety hazard -can't be used on a trip and can't be sold/traded as it's defective.

31 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/15/2016

When I fill the fuel tank, the fuel gauge shows empty and the low fuel light comes on and the low fuel alarm will ding. Sometimes the gauge will go up and then back down. Sometimes, the gauge will show correctly but you are never sure. This occurs when moving or sitting on a slope or on flat ground.

32 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/29/2016

On December 7th, 2015 I took my 2002 chevy tailblazer to lee partyka Chevrolet after recieving a letter that stated after 10 years the gas tank on these vehicles go bad and get leaks in them. A week later they called me and stated that they could not fix my vehicle and neither did they have a gas tank to replace it with and that I needed to pick up my truck and return the rental car. Lee partyka made it clear to general motors that the car was unsafe to drive necause of the gas leak so today on February qst they told me that car was ok too drive and lee partyka said again its not safe to drive and gsve me a loaner from there dealership. I have gotten no help or understanding from general motors I feel this os there problem. Now they say they cant fix the tank or replace it til may if they find a tank. And they wont continue to accomodate me with a rental vehicle so for me to just put $5 worth of gas in it anddrive it when lee partyka again said it is unsafe. Stationary.

33 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

I went to the gas station and filled up my tank. I started my car and the gauge was not at the fill line. The gauge just bounced up and down and then went below the empty mark making the chime go off and the car red "fuel is low". This was on a secondary city street.

34 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/19/2016

#1. On 2 occasions last week, my Trailblazer suddenly lost most of its power, and the engine light reduced engine power came on! I pulled over, cut the car off, then restarted it, and was able to drive home. #2. The seat belts on the front passenger and rear right sides lock up tightly the moment you buckle up. It locks up so tightly that you cannot move if you wanted. These problems showed while driving on miami streets. #3. On 2 or 3 occasions a strong smell of gasoline came into the car while driving. The smell seemed to be coming from inside the back of the car, but I was unable to locate any gasoline back there. On another occasion, I smelled gas outside in the area of gas tank.

35 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/18/2016

Fuel tank has tiny crack at the where the tank is welded together and gasonilne and or gasoline vapors leak out causing the check engine light to come on. Gm has issued special coverage warranty for vehicles that have up to150,000 miles or 15yrs old whichever comes first. Vehicle has 160,000 miles on it and they will not pay for repairs that should actually be a recall since it is a safety issue that is affecting millions of vehicles.
