36 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/23/2012

Leaving parking lot (& wanting to turn onto road) I applied my 2005 Trailblazer ext brakes. My foot & pedal went to floor with no brake at all. Thankfully no cars & going slow enough or I would have hit them. Instead of stopping at end of parking lot, I found myself entering road & seeing trees on other side of road coming up quickly. I grabbed the emergency brake lever. Scared me to death!!! vehicle then taken to repair shop. Shop owner report = hole rubbed in brake line close to driver firewall separating engine from seat area. He further said "been in business for 30+ years and had never seen this before. Seems like a huge design flaw. " rubbing on another line & pinhole there now - which would explain why my a/c was not working on driver side, but working on the pass side. How many other people had an accident? have another (?). . . If gm has known about a problem for yrs on several models: very well documented on internet by hundreds (if not thousands of owners) - why won't ntsaa make gm do something? problem = speed gauge, oil pressure gauge, & radio all of a sudden stop working one day. Then some days they all work, some days only 1 work, some days 2 work??? an equipment malfunction or computer glitch? happened about 75k miles on both my auto & my dad's 2005 chevy pickup. I live in se, he lives in ne. Two areas of us; yet each dealership wanted about $600. 00 to fix it. Called no help available!! searched internet for repair fix, & noticed tons of unhappy owners w/ same problem: gm would not help them pay for this problem - even though it's their equipment problem. Clearly it is a safety issue: no one can tell how fast actually going & led to many accidents & speeding tickets I'm sure! time ntsaa steps in don't you think? then have the brake/ac line rubbing issue - clearly a safety issue & I hope you do something! I still have the brake line.

37 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/15/2012

This was actually the second or third incident where the key got stuck in the ignition, blazer was in park the lights remained on so did the radio anything that is typically on during aux, but this was the beginning of a long problem that lead to me trading off. . The key gets stuck you can not remove it caused the battery to go bad, it would begin to happen often the service engine soon light would come on, the transmission would not shift above 3rd gear, also shortly after the purchase in sept of 2011 the speedometer stopped working. The blazer died 3 times gauges on dash would periodicly stop working. My service 4 wheel would come on randomly the key issue was the biggest problem but it was only a matter of time before other things went wrong. When the key would get stuck in the igintion as stated the transmission would not shift properly in the beginning the transmission would act out once you took it out of park it was noticeable but as the problem became worse it started happening driving down the highway I noticed once that I have successfully made it through 1-2-3 but never got out of 3. I should state that when the key was stuck I would have to manually shift through the first and second then put it into drive otherwise the car had no power because it would be stuck in the higher gear. Tried to contact the dealership as there was a recall on the dash for the 2003 model and they told us it wasnt a safety problem I do not understand how random loss of power and random car dying is not a safety issue, I have been watching the list of gm recalls and I have not seen much about the Trailblazers, and it bothers me that I am sure there are other issues like the ones that I had. On another note transmission related my neighbors just had to get rid of their Trailblazer 2006 for transmission problems.

38 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/10/2012

Fuel gauge reads empty after filling tank, won't reset itself after fueling. Back hatch lock is stuck in lock and has already been replaced once. Sometime when your setting still at a red light or just going slow in traffic, there seems to be a "surge" of power or fuel to where the vehicle lurches forward. When driving at night the lights will flicker or dim on there own.

39 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/01/2012

Fuel gauge stooped working.

40 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/03/2011

Like many other, my problem is with the instrument panel/cluster. My fuel gauge doesn't work and my speedometer is all over the place. . . Sometimes it seems to work fine, other times not at all, and sometimes it works but isn't accurate.

41 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 08/03/2011

Went to fill my 2007 chevy Trailblazer up with gas. Noticed the fuel gauge started floating from the "f" to the "e", even though I just filled the tank. It fluctuated for a couple days back and forth. Finally, it dropped to the "e" mark and that has where it has stayed since with the "low fuel light" on. I fill up at the gas station now and have to reset my mileage and keep an eye on it to know when to put more fuel in my tank. Since having to watch it this way, I have actually gotten out and driven out of gas in the middle of the road 3 different times. Because I don't always have enough money (being a single mother) to fill my tank up, so putting $20 in here and there, it makes it hard to keep up with the mileage to know when more gas is needed. I live on a fixed income and am disabled. So, between that and being a single mother, it's not exactly something I can afford to have fixed at the time considering I am still making payments on this vehicle. I have talked with several other people who own this type of vehicle who has the same problem. I honestly feel like this should be a recall. Customers who have spent their money paying thousands of dollars for a vehicle (mine was purchased new when I bought it) shouldn't have to pay for an issue that is apparently gm's fault. If it wasn't gm's fault, there wouldn't be so many people having the same issue. This is not a problem customer's could have prevented with "more responsible" driving. This is clearly a manufacturer defect. When I priced getting this problem fixed (at a local Chevrolet dealership), I was told that it would cost me $140. That this wasn't an actual recall, and that the cost of fixing it is $280 but I'd be responsible for half of that amount (hence the $140). Why should I have to pay for gm's problem??.

42 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/16/2011

Fuel gauge shows inaccurate levels of fuel. When fuel tank is full gauge shows empty and low fuel light comes on. Once some fuel is used out of tank gauge begins acting erratically, fluctuating between empty and full and anywhere in between. I have made no repairs as of yet as I am unable to cover the costs at the moment.

43 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/12/2011

My 2006 chevy Trailblazer LS has a faulty fuel sensor. I have been given quotes for the repairs between $800-$1300 to fix! this is [xxx]! I can't believe that I have to pay for gm's faulty part! this is dangerous! the gauge read I had 1/4 of a tank of fuel left. I stalled out on the highway, I managed to coast, safely, to the emergency lane. Now my gauge doesn't even read there is fuel present, remaining on empty all of the time. Some time the check engine light is on, other times it is not. I refuel every 250 miles, to stay safe. What are you and gm waiting for? someone to die? there is an entire internet site dedicated to the complaints of people who are having the exact same problem. You can not turn a blind eye to this! please call for a mandatory recall! there have been no deaths or injuries or crashes in my car because of this, but rest assured. . . Read more...

44 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/25/2011

I am having multiple instrument cluster problems on my 2004 chevy Trailblazer. They have done recalls on every type of chevy truck but the Trailblazer. Why not the Trailblazer as well? I have been reading forums after forums and complaints about the same thing and gm refuses to do anything about it. This needs fixed otherwise there may be fatal accidents by engines blowing up from the oil psi gauge not working properly and so on.

45 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/10/2011

My car has only 54000 miles on it and the instrument panel is shot. The dealer wants $600 to fix it. My speedometer, oil pressure , and gas gauge only work maybe 10% of the time. It is just terrible that I have to pay for this out of my own pocket when this is obviously a detective part. If this would have happened at 120,000miles I would not have been upset. That's normal wear and tear. Outrageous. I feel taken advantage of.

46 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/03/2011

I bought my vehicle at a dealership in 2010. I do not remember the exact date but it started having problems shortly after. The first thing that happened was all my gauges stopped working except my speedometer. In 2012 I was driving and at two different occasions within a day apart, while I was turning into a parking lot or gas station, my vehicle would shut off. I took it to auto zone to have one of those free tests done and nothing was showing up as abnormal. Around 2013 my vehicle started making a real high pitch squealing sound during start up and while driving. I took my car into since it needed a new water pump and they said that the high pitch sound could be fixed but wasn't a safety concern. In 2014 just a few months ago, again I was pulling into a gas station and my vehicle turned off. I was able to turn it back on and have enough time to pull into a spot before it shut off again. This time it wouldn't start my keys were stuck in the ignition and it could not be jump started. After taping the battery the keys came out of the ignition. It starts now but none of the electrical inside the vehicle works. At this point it's not drivable because of the temperature outside and the fact that I can't roll down my windows and the air blows only hot. The stereo doesn't work, the seats to move forward and back do not work. The back brake lights work but the tail lights while driving do not work. The front headlights work.

47 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/30/2010

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer with what appears to be a faulty gas gauge. The gas gauge suddenly stopped working in late-2010 and now remains on 'e' most of the time, regardless of how much gas is in the tank. Although infrequent, the needle has at times began to jump from 'e' to in between a 1/4-1/2 tank. The consequences of this failure are that I have to closely monitor my mileage at all times, reset the mileage each time I refill my gas tank, and notify any persons other than myself that drive my vehicle that the gas gauge does not function properly. Nothing has been done to correct the failure as the part is quite expensive, I do not feel a gas gauge should break so easily on a 2005 vehicle, and I am hoping the vehicle will eventually be recalled for this specific piece of equipment as I know several other people having a Chevrolet Trailblazer who have encountered this same problem.

48 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/10/2010

Speedometer, gas, and tach gauge stopped working, would work some and then gradually stop working all together, speedometer gets stuck on approx 20mph or 120mph, gas gauge off meter.

49 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

This is in addition to complaint 10410347. After purchasing 2005 chev. Trailblazer (joyce Buick, mansfield, ohio) noticed instrument cluster gauges fluctuating and making strange noise. My mechanic adivse take to dealer for faulty system, since was still under warranty (3 mo. Warranty). They replaced the instrument cluster cable, still not operating properly, discovered after reading owners manual that gas gauge should always register at gas level, not return to empty when turning off ignition. Now the gas gauge is not function properly as reported in previous complaint. At purchase noticed ac not cooling, joyce Buick added coolant and supposedly performed dye test prior to taking possession, reported no leak in sept. 2010. By April/may 2011 ac not working again. Found leak and replaced hose that runs to back of vehicle, (pre-existing condition. ) I feel that this vehicle was not properly serviced prior to re-sale. Some conditions covered under 3 mo. Warranty or pre-existing condition and now more issues continue to arise after warranty has expired, ie gas gauge not properly registering fuel level and the instrument cluster gauges still fluctuating. Researched and understand could be some motor relating to instrument cluster.

50 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 08/26/2010

None of the dashboard instrument gauges are working in my 2003 chevy Trailblazer. It began with the speedometer not working properly. It wouldn't work at times then it would suddenly start working and then the needle wouldn't go all the way down to zero and it would start at 10 or 15. I got a ticket once because the trooper said I was going about 70mph & the gauge was reading 60mph. The other gauges began to go out one at a time.

51 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

All electronic gauges within the instrument cluster failed at random times and very frequently, leading to the clusters' current state, which is all gauges are non-operational (dead). Hazardous condition caused due to speedometer failure. Chevy replaced the instrument cluster two times while under 36/36 mfg warranty. Chevy refuses to replace current instrument cluster since 36/36 has passed.

52 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

Instrument cluster panel completely gone crazy. All gauges are out of control. I am not able to tell my speed and some of the lights come in in the panel while the truck is off. Have to disconnect the battery to make sure the thing will not catch fire. . This issue really needs to be investigated due to a possible fire hazzard.

53 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/31/2010

Instrument panel/ speed odometer no longer works, first incident happened March of 2010. As of 12/2013 the voltage meter, rpm gauge, speed odometer have completely stopped working.

54 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

All of my gauges on my dashboard completely turn off and then randomly turn back on. It is very dangerous to drive around with no speedometer, gas gauge, olil, battery, tachometer or odometer on. Then it all of a sudden will turn on. It needs to be recalled. I took it to a repair shop and they said it would cost around $500 if not more to have them take apart my dash and look and then possibly send it out to seeif it can be fi. Xed there are numerous people I have found online with this same problem with the same vehicle.

55 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/02/2010

2005 Trailblazer faulty fuel sensor. Fuel gauge reads empty all the time. Has not been repaired. Ip cluster replaced first at cost of $400. 00.

56 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

Bought 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer which operated fine until 2 yrs ago. First, the speedometer goes nuts, the needle registers faster speeds than car is going. Some days it would work, some days it would not. Now it points past 120 mph, directly downwards, stuck there and does not move at all. Sitting still in my driveway the speedometer shows its going over 120 mph. The gas gauge goes nuts next. The needle goes past full and back around to the gas pump icon and stays there. The tachometer followed suit doing the same thing and indicating rpms past the 9000 range and doesn’t settle back at zero with engine off. And now the temp gauge is showing 200 - 250 degrees when the engine is started. As far as I can tell the voltage and battery gauges are still showing normal readings - so far. Am I speeding, is my engine about to blow up, or am I going to run out of gas? I have no way of knowing if I am driving the speed limit or unknowingly speeding, no idea how much gas is in the tank, unaware that my engine is revving up into a dangerous range or about to blow up; or if my engine is dangerously overheating. I depend on the instrument cluster to alert me to those dangers. There should have been a recall on these failing instrument clusters a long time ago but although hundreds have complained gm says they won’t fix this issue on the Trailblazer. They don’t care that we Trailblazer owners must drive our vehicles without working instruments. This situation is dangerous.

57 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

When my mileage on my 2005 chevy Trailblazer was approximately 50,000, the fuel gauge suddenly stopped working and reads that there is an empty tank despite being filled to capacity. From my understanding, this is a systemic fault with the fuel sending unit in the 2005-06 chevy Trailblazer models that has the potential of putting consumers at great risk due to the potential of running out of gas on expressways, highways, etc. And, as a result of an unexpected loss of mobility, being unnecessarily subject to imminent personal harm from other vehicles. I have lodged a personal complaint with gm and understand that they are aware of this defect in the fuel sending unit as being a system problem, but have failed to issue any voluntary recall of the part. Due to the individual cost of approximately $800 for a consumer to procure this repair (which almost always seems to occur when these vehicles have surpassed 40,000 miles and are therefore outside of the warranty period), I believe it is very likely that a sufficient number of those consumers affected by this part failure, especially in the current economic climate, will be financially unable to afford the cost of repairing this defective part on their own and will, accordingly, be suject to unnecessary and substantial risk given the potential for them to find their vehicles out of gas without any warning whatsoever. Moreover, the potential for collisions due to the sudden deceleration or stranded vehicles on the roadways also poses a substantial threat to other drivers that is entirely unecessary and extremely dangerous.

58 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

Failure of the gauge cluster on a 2004 chevy Trailblazer currently with 59,300 miles. About June 2009 the tach continually read incorrectly. Dealer tried to mislead me to bring it in for a diagnosis at a cost of approx. $100 I told them its broke why should I pay for a diagnosis. I had read about the problem on -line at edmunds, com. ,my SUV had 41,000 to 42,000 miles on it. In July 2010 my gas gauge started to occasionally malfunction, now Jan. 2011 it is incorrect. In Nov. 2010 my charging gauge started malfunctioning. I also have since read online of the same problem on other similar year gm trucks ans SUV and they have recalls on them. Its just a matter of time for the speedometer gauge to read incorrectly. Please help, these malfunctions are not safe. .

59 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/07/2009

Purchased 11/24/2008 ~20k miles. Within 5months a whole host of issues started, the 1st being the fuel gauge not working by showing full & actually not (ran out of gas twice) and then showing empty after fillup. 1week later the engine light came on & the instrument panel stopped working. ~ one year later, Dec 2009 the speedometer fluctuated from working properly to ~50-55mph base instead of 0. After a few days, the speedometer did zero-out but then did not show any speed but stayed at 0. Along with the speedometer issue are the headlights dimming sporadically. All of the issues have continued on-off since. March 2012 the windshield reservoir started leaking/cracked. February 2013 had tuneup, brakes, and thermostat replaced and since then add front vents stopped working plus severe, sporadic, high idle - driving to work (metropolitan, downtown, capital of state-high rush hour) the high rev started and all I wanted was to get to workplace parking lot ~2miles. 2blcks fr pkg lot, I was braking at a left, dblturn light with the rev & brakes grabbingh/counteracting. I come to a full stop but my SUV revs to over 3rpms & I thought the trblzr would break free & crash into the cars in front of me! I have a "christine" car and hate the feeling of driving an unsafe vehicle that chevy won't recall/fix and I can't afford to buy anything else currently or get all these issues repaired. I place mine, my kids and passengers' lives & safety into jeopardy every time we get in to drive/ride. I only have 78k miles and 1yr of car pymnts left. I will never buy another chevy again and I was a diehard chevy and "buy american" consumer. This vehicle is a piece of junk. My next purchase will be any vehicle that is safe, whoever the manufacturer may be. Can anything be done to help???.

60 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/09/2009

First, fuel gauge, then the entire instrument panel stopped working.

61 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/15/2008

Gauge cluster inaccurately displays fuel level, oil pressure and temperature. Occurs daily.

62 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/13/2008

I have a 2004 chevy Trailblazer with about 79000 miles on it. The instrument cluster started being incorrect about a year and a half ago. At that time I was not aware of what the problem was and did not realize that this problem is so widespread among Trailblazer owners. The gauges stick. When this first started it was just the speedometer and the rpm gauge, but now its the mentioned gauges plus the fuel gauge. I have had a traffic stop and was given a warning for defective equipment. I would like to know why is there not a recall in place for the repair of this problem? I have been told that it has been brought in as a problem by a lot of owners and the cost is around $500. Please help with this issue that is clearly not an owner initiated problem but a defect in manufacturing. Thank you very much.

63 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/17/2007

I have a 2002 chev. Trailblazer and 2 weeks ago the speedometer went upside down- it is not telling me I am going over 100mph or it tells me im going 0-to nothing. The gauge is upside down and will cost over 500 to get if fixed this is a new vehicle I don't think this is fair- if it were a 95 model I wouldn't be surprised but how many vehicles loose a speedometer gauge over within a vehicle that new?.

64 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/18/2006

The problems started in 2006 and were very intermittent. There is an electrical issue with the instrument panel, lights, battery , and other unknown items. The dealer check the electrical system when it started, but could not find any problem. Sometimes, while driving at night the lights went off, and I would have to pull off the road, check any fuses and relays, and then they would come back on. The next electrical issue was with the speedometer, which on a trip across to florida it would be erratic and indicate I was traveling over 120 miles an hour when my gps said I was driving at 65. After the warranty expired I have had issues with replacing multiple batteries which go dead every 4 or 5 days depending on usage. After the speedometer stopped working, each other instrument panel item worked on and off. This includes the gas tank gauge, the ammeter, the temperature gauge, tachometer, and the oil pressure gauge. They all worked on and off for the next 3 years, and now none of these very important instrument panel gauges have worked for over 2 years. I wonder if the electronics that effect the air bags would work if I ever have an accident. I have replaced many batteries, I still have to charge each one every 4 or 5 days or I cannot start the truck. I have checked online and there are thousands of Trailblazer, and their related gm vehicles with the same problems. I hear that a recall was issued for the GMC-envoy which is the same related parts vehicle but there is not one for the Trailblazer? I am dealing with these issues and hoping for the recall that we all have been waiting for. Thank god I have a 97 Toyota camry that runs well. I wish mary barra would read this. I also have photos of the non-working instrument panel, and the 120mph speedometer.

65 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/27/2006

The gas gauge is not operating. It stopped working without any warning.

66 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/01/2006

Multiple gauges on the instrument panel stopped working. They include: fuel gauge, speedometer, voltmeter, and tachometer. The first to go out was the fuel gauge. Then speedometer, followed by the voltmeter and the tachometer about the same time. Chevy has fixed the fuel gauge issue by recall. But has not addressed the other gauges on the instrument panel.
