36 Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/01/2010

I own a 2005 chevy Trailblazer, the gas gauge no longer works after 45,000 miles. It is stuck on empty even after filling the tank. Once in awhile it moves up but never to show the correct amount of fuel in the tank.

37 Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/13/2010

Bought 2006 chevy Trailblazer ext used from the dealer in 2009 for commute to and from work. Upon reaching 63,000 miles began to have problems with fuel gauge reading half full them empty even after just having filled up the tank at the station. As a result check engine light activated and when it came time to inspect the vehicle no one at the local dealerships were willing to drop the gas tank and fix the problem so I could pass inspection. Penna state emissions would not pass the vehicle until the fuel system was repaired, hence cannot pass inspection. I will no longer use the vehicle on long trips where I have to guess how much gas I have in the tank, or take it on busy highways like 95 or 83 near washington close to where I live. Problem description seems to be consisent with this model year. While I was willing and able to pay for my repair the first time, it is not my responsibility to account for a shoddy product. Gm has already attempted to contact me and cover 50% of the repair via mail. This is an insult to my intelligence and I should not have to fork over one red cent to get this fixed given the massive amount of complaints about the same problem on the same vehicle. Ignition switch also failed at 60,000 miles. Yet another item I am finding is a recurring problem with this model, make and year.

38 Tank Mounting problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/09/2010

My 2004 chevy Trailblazer will not accept gasoline. I had a 1/4 tank left and went to a gas station. To my surprise the vehicle would not let me fill the tank. I was first told that the vent might be dirty then a cylinder in the gas tanks system might have failed. The mechanic found a bulletin that said I had to replace the fuel tank filler upper pipe and lower hose because of vapors filling up inside. I paid for gas that ended up all over the ground instead of in my tank. I called the dealer to find out that a bulletin is different then a recall so they were not entitled to pay for it. I purchased in 2009 and gm knows about it but will not recall it. What if it explodes in the gas station from the vapors. Who's fault would it be then. I had no idea and would never buy a chevy again. First I had a problem with the check engine light coming on when the gas cap was not put back on right and now I can't even get gas. What good is a vehicle if you can't use it. I am still paying for it. As soon as it paid for I will be trading it in. The dealer gave me a smo about a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. When I bought it had 62,500 miles already on it. Why should I pay for something they knew was a problem but won't recall. Please recall this vehicle. In reading the bulletins for this vehicle I found that there are problems with the electrical system, the air bags, the fuel system, the transmission, speedometer, etc. How many problems do you need for one vehicle or are they waiting for someone to get killed over it. The bulletin says that a small amount of fuel may spit back out. Well that is a lie. All the fuel in the 1/4 tank spilled out on the ground and I paid for the gas I could not get in the tank. Gm is no help, dealer is no help. The only one that was straight up with me was the mechanic. I am going to hate to see the bill for this one. My tax dollars at work. I agree why should we bail out the auto companies when they don't care what kind of vehicle they produce.

40 Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Fuel gauge does not work properly. It does not accurately indicate amount of gas in tank and fluctuates. Low fuel light comes on even when there is gas in the tank.

41 Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

Fuel gauge does not display amount of fuel in tank. Even when filling the tank with fuel, the gauge remains on empty.

42 Tank Mounting problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 11/06/2009

The service engine light was coming on and we had diagnostic done and was told that it was the gas cap. We replaced several time. Everytime I drove or rode in my vehicle I smelled gas and I would get a horrible headache. My husband took my vehicle to get an emission test done we were told the fuel tank was cracked at the neck and leaking gas. We had it repaired Nov 6, 2009 after we had been told of this. The shop that repaired my vehicle said they were shocked it had not caught on fire. There was evidence this had been going on for a while. Probably when we were told the gas cap was loose is when it started, and that had been over a year before.

43 Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/30/2009

Fuel gage shows full at times and empty at times. Hard to tell amount of gas in tank all the time. Problem started at 41,000 miles. 2005 GMC Trailblazer.

44 Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/27/2009

Fuel sensor on 2005 chevy Trailblazer going out for the past year. If vehicle was filled, it would go down to empty after several minutes then over the course of about 20 minutes go to the correct spot. Recently it just doesn't give you any clue as to the amount of fuel in the tank. There are pages and pages of people with the same complaints online, so it's not just my vehicle. This is a major safety issue if there are lots of 2005 chevy Trailblazers on the road without knowledge of how much fuel is in their cars. Please look into this, because chevy sure isn't!.

45 Tank Mounting problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 08/08/2009

My gas tank always reads empty and the fuel light is always on. Occasionally after a fill up, it will appear that I have a small amount of gas, but soon returns to empty. For the last 6 months or more I have had to reset my mileage trip gauge every time I fill up and watch the mileage so I don't run out of gas. This is extremely inconvenient. Also, one night about 2 weeks ago, my speedometer was reading 20 miles an hour more than the speed we were traveling. Even after we stopped completely, the gauge read 20 mph. The next day it was once again normal and has been since, but this was very strange.

46 Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/17/2009

I own a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The fuel gauge indicator remains illuminated no matter how much fuel is in the tank. As a result, my wife and I are never fully aware of the amount of gasoline left in the fuel tank. I believe it to be a defect as so many other people online is experiencing the same issues.

47 Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

I am having a problem with my fuel gauge or fuel pump. June 15-24 2009 I was putting gas into my vehicle every day because it was reading that my tank was empty. On June 24, I completely filled up my tank and the light remained on as if my tank was empty. The light remained on until the next day. As I was driving to work, the gauge moved up showing that I only had a 1/4 of a tank of gas. My gauge is giving me a false reading of the amount of gas I have in my tank and I now have to depend on the miles per trip to make sure I don't run out of gas.

48 Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/30/2009

2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The gas gauge has stopped working completely. This is a safety hazard because it is impossible to know how much gas is left in the gas tank. This is a danger as I could run out of gas while driving. Although I can use the odometr to "guess" about gas, it is not a definite measure of the amount of gasoline I have left. I know that this has been an issue with other Chevrolet suvs and trucks. I checked on fixing the problem but because the entire gas tank has to be pulled from the vehicle, it will cost approximately $800 to fix the problem. Because this appears to be a reoccuring problem with Chevrolet and GMC suvs and trucks, I believe that this is an issue that should be addressed by Chevrolet and GMC.

49 Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/12/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. After filling up the vehicle with fuel, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge failed and displayed that the tank was empty. The "low fuel" and check engine indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the contact must always write down the amount of gas he purchases in order to estimate when the vehicle needs to be refueled. The dealer stated that the fuel gauge sensor failed and would cost $400 to repair. The vehicle has not been repaired or inspected by a technician. The manufacturer stated that the failure was not covered under warranty; therefore, no compensation would be provided. The failure mileage was 48,000 and current mileage was 49,600.

50 Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

I ran out of gas on expressway on way home from work while gauge showed 1/4 tank. This happened again months later with tank showing just under 1/4 tank. Gauge around the time of first incident started bouncing around off and on at any reading while SUV was running. It would go from empty to 1/2 a tank and bounce around back and forth eventually stopping at a random amount. The gauge would go to empty when it was full until it was driven enough that I was down to around 3/4 of a tank then it would give the correct reading until guessing around 1/4 of a tank when the incidents happened with me running out of gas. A few months later the gauge completely quit working and has yet to work since then. I started researching online about the gauge and found multiple incidents with same year and make and many people stating they paid over $700 to have repairs done and multiple people stating they had it fail again. Since reading those remarks I have yet to have it repaired and have had to keep track of my mileage so that I don't run out of fuel again.

51 Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 09/29/2008

I own a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext and the fuel gauge never registers the correct amount of fuel. It always fluctuates between empty and 3/4 full even after filling the tank completely. I have had this problem for at least one month now and the repairs will be at least $500. 00 to complete. The problem is still occurring as I can not afford to replace the part at this time and hopefully no further problems will emerge in the meantime. I have been researching the problem over the internet to determine if others are having similar problems. This appears to be a trend that has been ongoing for a few years now. This would be a huge courtesy if the manufacturer would do a recall for this fuel sensor problem and avoid legal action as well as to continue upholding a great american legacy such that Chevrolet has built.

52 Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 05/21/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the fuel gauge did not indicate the accurate amount of fuel in the tank. The engine shut off several times because the gauge did not show that the fuel tank was empty. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the fuel sending unit was replaced. The current mileage was 82,169. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

53 Tank Mounting problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/25/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 40 mph on normal road conditions, the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off. In addition, the contact noticed a small amount of fuel leakage whenever the fuel tank was filled to capacity. The driver fills the fuel tank halfway in order to avoid leakage. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was related to a hole in the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a second opinion and the same failure was confirmed. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 75,000 and current mileage was 107,000.

54 Tank Mounting problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 10/10/2007

The fuel gauge does not accurately represent the true amount of gas in the tank. After talking with Chevrolet owners and doing research on this issue, it seems to be a common theme. The gas gauge indicates that the vehicle's gas tank is either empty after being recently filled or only slightly above the "e" on the gas gauge. It takes about two days or 12 statutory miles before the gas gauge begins to display an accurate reading, if that is even true! on 30 April 2008, during a family road trip, the gas gauge began to display that the gas tank was a quarter full after being filled. After driving another hour and a half, the gauge read empty and then went back to a quarter full. I guess Chevrolet doesn't care about the quality of their work, just its quantity of sales.

55 Tank Mounting problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 06/06/2007

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that over a year ago, she paid to have a new fuel tank installed in her vehicle. Two weeks ago, she began smelling gasoline again and took her vehicle to the dealer. The dealer stated that she needs another fuel tank. On June 18, 2007, the contact received a letter from the manufacturer stating that the fuel tanks are faulty on her make and model of vehicle. She called to schedule an appointment for repair and was told that she would have to pay for the repair first and get reimbursed afterwards. The purchase date and powertrain were unknown. The current mileage is 73,000 and failure mileage was 72,600.
