2010 chevy Traverse lost power steering while being driven by son. Initial failure occurred at street speeds. The car could be steered without power but it was difficult at low speeds. Dealer was informed of sounds when the vehicle had less than 100,000 miles but nothing was done. The car currently has 133,000 miles (2-3 years after sounds reported to dealer).
Chevrolet Traverse assisted power steering intermittently I will lose power steering while making low speed turns. Even though a 2010 Traverse is on the 14329a recall, my VIN isn't on the recall.
Our 2010 Chevrolet Traverse will lose power steering when making hard turns and/or turning at low speeds. The vehicle has been in motion nearly every time when this happens. We have lost all power steering when turning even on five lane highways, crossing very busy highways. We have never experienced this with a vehicle before this one. We are reporting it today, but we have experienced this sudden loss of power steering several times with our Traverse. This is a safety issue, and general motors needs to do something about it.
When you turn a corner, park in a parking spot, back up the power steering goes out. Anytime you turn the wheel the power steering goes out. It will cost over $2,000. 00 to fix this issue. I have never had a vehicle lose power steering when you turn the wheel. I do not believe my vehicle is an isolated incident.
While driving lost all power steering. Dealer said the pump was to be recalled but the pump cased the rack and pinion to fail why is not covered under warranty with a cost of rougly $1200.
When traveling at low speed and attempting to make a turn I lose all power steering. Very difficult to keep control of the car. Problem lasts for about 3 seconds but very unnerving.
At low speed or while try to park vehicle would lose power steering in vehicle. Changed the power steering fluid problem remained. Have taken the vehicle to the gm dealer told the steering gear needed to be replaced.
Loses power steering at very low speeds such as turning into parking spaces. Almost impossible to turn steering wheel. Power resumes when you accelerate.
When attempting to pass (at a normal speed & situation) accelerator sticks & continues speeding up until I slammed on brakes(which didn't stop me) & pulled the accelerator up at the same time, this has now occurred 5 times over the last 7 months, it is terrifying when it happens, I have 3 kids in the vehicle with me most of the time, then today when it happened right after it started working properly I lost power steering when I apply my brakes!! not impressed with this vehicle right now!.
My Traverse loses power steering at low speeds. When pulling into or out of a parking spot there is no power steering. Also occurs when turning to make a u turn when at low rpm. This started in July 2013 and has been getting worse. I have taken to the dealer 3 times without any confirmed diagnose. The lack of power steering makes it very difficult to maueuver in parking lots or parking garages. They noted a small leak on the rack and pinion but do not believe that it is related to the power steering problem at low speeds. The steering works great at speeds higher then 30mph.
Driving at low speeds while turning it becomes very difficult to turn. Lose power steering.
At slow speeds, you lose power steering when trying to park in parking spots, turning curves, and turning off onto other streets. Very dangerous driving when you are expecting to turn and can't turn because of the power steering failure. This should be looked into before someone in injuried or even killed. This does not occur all the time, but occurs too often when you least expect it. I've just purchased vehicle and did not know about the problem until after I had the vehicle about a week.
At low speeds, the power steering fails. When turning into parking spots or trying to make turns onto other streets or roads, you lose all power steering making it diffucult to turn. I just recently bought the vehicle and didn't notice the problem until about a week later. It does not occur all the time, but too often when you least expect it.
Vehicle loses power steering assist at low vehicle and engine speed, such as pulling into parking space or driveway. Occurs infrequently and without warning. Local dealer looked at it and cannot replicate problem. Is safety issue as an unsuspecting driver could lose control and hit another vehicle or person.
Lost power steering, took vehicle to dealer for repair but to this day it is still occurring this problem is so dangerous that I can't see how gm wouldn't recall to repair so I've been waiting because of the expense associated. It's just a matter of time before someone is killed from this nationwide problem.
