My hatch/liftgate doesn't stay open it shuts as soon as you let go. Even when you use the auto liftgate button it does the same thing it opens and then just shuts now this is a major safety hazard especially since I have two little boys. Also my power steering pump is not running.
I got a brand new power steering pump for the mechanic to change he told me he would change it and stop the leak because my steering wheel locked on me. However I was called the first time and was told the part was disinfecting then made me return the part for a new part because he said it was still leaking. I went to buywise got the new part he said he'll call when my car is ready. He called me told me my car was ready nomore leaking , literally the next day my car steering wheel locked up on the highway in danger of my life. As I call the mechanic and tell him I'm bringing my car back because he didn't do anything he tells me he'll look at it I get there he's telling me it's a leak. So you let me leave your shop knowing it was a leak because he just sent me for a new part because of the leak so he tries to tell me he gonna have to charge me again after I already paid him for the job and he didn't do anything I still have the same problem I almost got into a accident because he told me my car was ready to go and it wasnt. Instead of checking the problem he wants to charge me more after he already got over 500$ and he didn't do anything to the car. The place is called reliable auto center location 789 sanford Ave newark NJ 07106. I really want my refund for my money because I gave him over 500$ cash and he literally didn't do anything to my car and lied and said my car was ready and almost got me into a accident.
Drivers side 2nd row seat belt does not always stay latched. At 100,000 mi power steering pump went, month later lost control of steering, which turned out to be the rack. 15 months later the seals in the rack have blown out again. This is an expensive safety issue! the dealer did not see an issue as he listed 3 other makes that have the same problem. At $1400 per repair this should be a recall to keep my family safe! also informed one front strut has no oil and the other is leaking. My Chevrolet Traverse is a money pit. It is an automatic transmission that on an incline will continue to coast backwards until you either break or give it gas, this is from date of purchase.
There have been so many things wrong with car since we bought brand new in 2010 from the complete fuel system replaced to 3 entire brakes replaced, to transmission slipping, to tracktion stilbility control lights failing, to power steering pump , to faulty control box issues, replacement of window shield wiper motor, air conditioning/heating module. Most of this under warranity or not covered still at all in first 4 years of owning this car. Its literally a pile of junk. So many safety issues that gm wont list as a recall. People have been killed but still fail do anything. The dealer ship here in waldorf MD, to conceal what they did lately to my car in damaging the front shocks and struts wouldnt even get on the phone with a conference call with me instead refused to talk to me and also ban me from the dealership which leads to more suspicion that they are hiding the truth that they did something to damage my car. This is the only dealer in town too. This isn't the first complaint. Dont buy this car. Nothing but problems, a lemon.
After taking my vehicle in to have my oil replaced at the dealership, as I was leaving I began to experience trouble turning the steering wheel. Went to another dealership to have my vehicle looked at in route home, and was told the power steering pump and the wheel (pulley) may need to be replaced but to wait because they have over 80 2010 Traverse owners with the identical problem and gm is aware of this so lets hope soon this will be recalled to have fixed at no cost to me. It's been over two weeks and I have yet to read or hear about this issue being recalled for service repairs. I can't turn left or right at slow speeds or when parking without placing a hard strain on my back trying to turn the steering wheel. Please gm do something about this serious vehicle safety issue soon!! I can't even drive on the highway of fear this will cause me to crash and it is my only reliable transportation.
The steering rack on this vehicle went making it impossible to steer. This has been the case in many of these vehicles of this year. Prior years of this make and model have been recalled for the same issue but as of yet the 2010 has not. They replaced my steering pump and told me the rack was gone and would be 1700 to replace. The car cannot be driven as it is unsafe. The timing chain is also gone which is another issue with this make and model that Chevrolet is not dealing with. Although this does not render the vehicle unsafe it is overall a very badly designed vehicle. My major issue is the safety and read many many complaints on this make and model. I can no longer use the vehicle as it is unsafe to drive and a serious financial hardship. I bought this car in good faith according to the safety rating to transport my grandchildren and friends and it is now unsafe and unable to be driven. I am hoping for a recall of this vehicle as I have read that I am not the only one dealing with this situation. Thank you. Joan true.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the power steering rack and power steering pump need to be replaced. In addition, the check engine light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of issue. The failure was 75,827. Ad.
The vehicle experiences loss of power steering at low speeds. Chevrolet issued a special warranty for the power steering pump, however when taken to the dealer, the vehicle also had a cracked steering rack. A quick internet search showed that hundreds of other drivers are experiencing the same problem. Chevrolet is only offering to fix one component of a faulty steering system, leaving drivers to foot the bill for the other faulty parts.
I brought my 2010 chevy Traverse in to the dealer for repair work. I previously had received a service bulletin 14329a which was for a defective power steering pump. During the course of the service, the dealer let me know that due to the power steering pump being defective, the steering rack pump was also needing repair. Gm took care of the power steering pump but not the rack pump as the rack pump did not have a formal service bulletin out yet. It is disappointing to me that this would not be taken care of by gm as the power steering pump being defective caused the rack pump to also be. I would like to see a service bulletin come out on the steering rack pump as many, many others are in the same situation as myself.
My vehicle is just over 60,000 miles. It needs a new power steering pump (recalled) and now a new steering rack. The vehicle is very difficult to turn in parking lots and on the roads. I thought it just needed a power steering flush and so that was completed at 50,000 miles. That was after I had repaired a 700 engine coolant hose.
2010 chevy Traverse lt awd has developed a consistent whining noise while running. Chevy dealer investigated and says the steering rack needs to be replaced because it's leaking. Car makes unusual noise when turning and is sometimes hard to steer around corners. No mention of pump being involved. Cost estimate of $1500 to replace steering rack. Internet search revealed similar problems with many other 2010 Traverse vehicles. Still looking for additional info. Have not received any recall notice from gm and dealer says not covered. Repairs not done yet, investigating options.
Hard to steer at low speeds; thumping sound. On Nov 8, 2014 , I took the vehicle to burlington Chevrolet, however they stated it wasn't the power steering pump. They said it was the steering gear rack which will cost me about $1,600 plus tax (also includes flushing the line and wheel alignment). This is ridiculous. I've read similar common problems. This has to be related to the recent power steering pump issue letter that gm recently mailed (14329). I'm frustrated!.
For the last several weeks the power steering has been going out intermittently while driving at slow speeds. It is dangerous and scary. We finally had to get the power steering pump replaced yesterday. This seems to have corrected the problem.
In September of last year our 2010 chevy Traverse started getting hard to turn left or right and I have researched the problem and I can not afford 1200. 00 dollars to fix the problem which seems like it is the power steering pump. At this point we have no power steering about 90 % of the time. It is getting dangerous at this point and I don't know what we will do this winter if we start to slide we would be unable to steer fast enough to keep from wrecking. We need this car. Other than the steering, I love this car.
2010 Chevrolet Traverse. Consumer writes in regards to power steering pump malfunction. Also, the tire pressure monitoring system light illuminated. The dealer stated the tire pressure sensors needed to be replaced. However, the consumer decided to get a second opinion, and was informed there was nothing wrong with the sensors, the issue was the vehicle.
Occasional hard steering/loss of power steering during low speeds when maneuvering. In 01/2011 gm replaced steering gearbox due to leaking seals as a warranty item. Now this issue has come up and their answer is to replace the gearbox again, and they expect me to pay for it now that the extended warranty has expired. Had an independent ase certified mechanic check this out and he said he¿s seen the same issue 3 times at his shop. They¿ve been replacing the power steering pump. Contacted gm corporate customer case and now is going thru district level review.
Notchy feel to steering at lower speeds. . . 1-40mph. Dealer states that car needs new power steering pump. Looking at the complaints already logged this is an obvious problem.
Purchased car used 47011, a little over 2 wks "check engine"=fuel pump control module , next was seat assembly. & alternator. . . Whining. Engine noise reported, nothing done. . . No problems detected at time due to problem being "intermittent"! contacted gm exec office reported issues, got file number--no resolution! received special coverage letter from Chevrolet dated sept 2014 '#14329 @ power steering pump with extension of warranty coverage. Took vehicle to chev dealership for two recalls (14030 & 14187) and check power steering. . . Recalls handled, power steering pump replaced and installed new gear housing kit. One month later took back for state inspection, failed because now power steering rack leaking on both sides!!?! after reading several other similar accounts, I am convinced that the power steering pump and rack issues are contingent on the other. . . Also hefty amount for repair $1500-1900; which I am also very concerned may just be a temporary fix!! we desperately need help correcting this injustice in lieu of safety concerns and being duped while investing in american-made products. . . Please advise, research, and help us!! families and lives depend on it.
This is an update to my earlier complaint of intermittent sudden loss of power steering making turns at low speeds. I was able to reliably recreate the loss of power assist following this procedure: finding an empty lot, turn vehicle and hold at slow speed (under 10mph) and continue in complete circles. Eventually, power assist will kick off and making any turns will require significant effort. Bringing the vehicle to higher speeds (25-35 mph) appears to reset. My vehicle is currently in shop for replacement of power steering pump as this was the dealership service department's diagnosis even though I informed them of the ability to induce vehicle as described above. I will update this complaint if power steering replacement does not correct issue.
I have a 2010 Traverse. With in the last 3 months the steering has become a daily problem. When making turns from 25mph or less you loose control of the car. The steering will freeze up when it chooses. Sometimes it will happen at the start of a turn sending you straight toward on coming traffic!! we had it in for an oil change (may 2014) and asked the dealer to check the steering. Dealer said there was nothing wrong and the vehicle is fine. It still continues to occurrence on a daily basis. We don't have the money to bring it to the dealer to have the pump replaced. I'm looking for other options on how to repair/replace it the most economical way? until I have this problem resolved it will mostly be just an around the town vehicle do to the fear of it may happen while on the highway. I cant believe with this many complaints gm hasn't done anything to correct this problem. Its time for a recall.
I was driving my chevy Traverse on a main road when it started making a loud noise, steering wheel got very stiff and it was hard for me to steer. I immediately tried making a left turn in order to pull into a residential block and out of harms way. It was really hard for me to try to drive my vehicle and get both me and my child out of harms way. Thankfully, I was able to park it in a safe spot and out of the way of on coming traffic. If I wouldn't have reacted quickly and used all of my strength to try to steer the vehicle it could've turned into a tragic accident. I was very afraid for both me and my child. Gm/chevy should place an immediate recall on this before someone gets hurt. Now my truck is in the shop and I am looking at a cost of $2100 for a power steering pump. I bought this vehicle thinking it was a safe crossover for my family.
Power steering goes out intermittently, primarily at low speeds. The vehicle can not be controlled for low speed steering, pump has been checked and dealer said it is electronic but not certain.
While turning the vehicle at relatively low speeds (under 25 mph) the steering would suddenly lock up and become very hard to turn. The problem was somewhat intermittent creating a more dangerous situation as the steering wheel would be very hard to turn and suddenly get easier and then hard again causing over-compensation in mid turn. The problem was diagnosed as the "steering rack binding" and ultimately resulted in the replacement of the steering rack and the power steering pump.
Steering intermittently looses power causing steering wheel to jerk and making steering difficult. Vehicle then begins to veer out of lane. Power steering pump constantly "whines". Manufacturer contacted stated not covered by warranty. Through internet research this is an extremely common problem with the Traverse vehicle.
The 2010 Traverse first incident happened while driving cross country. The steering went out. You could not turn with out brute force. It was taken to a Chevrolet dealer ship and an new power steering pump was put on. Once back to our home town same problem happened. Took to our local Chevrolet dealer they replaced same power steering pump (dealership didn't charge for previous Chevrolet dealerships work). Third incident we almost hit a parked car and a building because the steering locked up and would not turn. Took back to our local Chevrolet dealership and the replaced more parts and the power steering pump again. And not to sound like a broken recorded but its back at the dealership for another power steering pump. There is no more trust in this vehicle. Someone's going to get hurt if they don't diagnose the problem.
Started with intermittent loss of power steering at low speeds making tight turns. Then noticed hesitant/jerky steering on the highway, with loud rattle in front end. As with all the others, got the run around from the local chev repair shop, and also with gm customer service - would not acknowledge or even talk about all the similar complaints. I got gm customer service to go good for most of the repair cost of installing a new power steering pump and steering gears. All after 3 trips to the repair shop, the first time they insisted I just needed a power steering flush - 2nd time they put in the pump, 3rd time finally "found" the leaky gear. Let's hope this holds out - drove good for the 40 mile trip home.
While driving, especially when going around a curve, turning to the left or right onto another street, turning into a parking lot or trying to park in a parking space, the steering wheel is very difficult to turn. At times, it is almost impossible to turn. I have contacted my gm dealership who tells me there has been no recalls for this problem and that my power-steering pump needs replacement. I am highly doubtful of that as this seems to be alot of 2010 chevy transverse owners complaints. Gm needs to step up and initiate a recall.
Complete loss of power steering at speeds less than 20 mph. My wife couldn't turn the wheel. Car was taken to the dealer and the power steering pump was replaced. Cost of $641. 84.
Just days after purchasing a used 2010 chevy Traverse with about 52,000 miles, the steering locked while sitting in the driveway. It took several attempts to get the steering wheel to work. Then in November the car began to make a loud screeching noise. It occurred during idling as well as during acceleration. Turning became more difficult and the noise corresponded to accelerating, turning and slowing down. It went to the chevy service station on 12/20/13. They replaced the power steering pump. I picked the car up on 12/24/13 and it sounded the same. I was told that it would get better in a few days after the air left the new pump. The car did not get better and continued to sound terrible. It was also shaking and was scary to drive in. It went back to the shop on 12/30/13. They have replaced the power steering rack, pin and hose so far. As of 1/8/13 they can not fix the car. The mechanics say they have been working with the gm hotline and are at a loss as to why it won't stop making the noise or driving correctly.
My 2010 Traverse has about 56,000 miles on it but for about the last 300-500 a humming noise has been coming from the steering column. It has gradually been getting worse and I had started noticing what I would describe as varying degrees of pressure needed to steer it. It would also occasionally have what I describe as a hiccup feel when I turn it once in awhile. Took into dealer to have it diagnosed and was told that new pump is needed. Also there were a couple of leaks coming from the various locations of the steering system. Quoted a replacement cost of $1653. Chevrolet, please fix this situation!.
Steering pump not functioning properly, hard to steer at low speeds. The dealership has told me I need a new one. Why is this happening? this should be a recall item. Mileage is not high enough for such an important item to give out. Occurred after a 5 hour trip.
Loss of power steering and intermittent locking /failure/ inability to turn the steering wheel at slow speeds. Difficulty turning into parking spaces - no power steering. Nearly missed my turn, heading directly at a road sign trying to make a right turn at approx 15 mph. Had to completely stop (in the middle of the road & oncoming traffic) to 'unlock' the wheel and complete my turn. This is a safety issue that should be corrected before someone gets hurt! took 2010 Traverse to chevy dealer - they said it was a 'common problem'. Just paid $700 to replace my power steering pump & hoping that fixes the problem. My car is only 3 years old! chevy should be ashamed. . .
I noticed my steering wheel stiffening during turns. I took my vehicle to the dealership & was told I needed to replace the steering gear and power steering pump. These repairs are not covered under my extended warranty & will cost $1,876. 31 to repair! the service advisor could not explain to me how the complete steering gear goes out on a vehicle w/52,000 miles on it! I am beyond angry, not to mention, I also feel violated. I have researched to see if other owners are having similar issues and there are hundreds of people with the exact same issues! these are not a coincidences! these parts are faulty & should be recalled and fixed at no cost!.
On the day of purchasing the vehicle, only seconds after signing the contract, I was told the vehicle could not be driven because of safety recalls. Had to wait three weeks before getting the vehicle I purchased, very nervous after that situation. Then after only having the vehicle approximately 8 months the power steering pump, water pump, and leaking hoses went out with over $1,500 in repairs. Three days after the second incident they called, after I brought the vehicle in for more business to get an oil change, tires rotated and a safety check, and they told me the tires were unsafe and they would not rotate the tires. They further stated that they would replace the tires for approximately $800. I am now on the fifth (5th) day without the family vehicle and very stressed. A 20 year veteran retired from the united states marines is asking for your support and assistance to make a bad deal right. Here is my statement on the last 9 months with dealing with prince Chevrolet of albany, 2701 ledo road, albany, GA 31707 and my breaking down lemon and vehicle. I am outraged that this is the type of customer service I am receiving from chevy and I want out of the contract. I no longer want anything to do with chevy or GMC. I hope to hear back from someone other than the local prince of albany staff, they are obviously giving me the run around. Thank you prince Chevrolet for not supporting your veterans and customers of georgia with the right service. A great way to show the example of the rich stealing from the poor. I am not rich enough or powerful enough to hold prince Chevrolet of albany, 2701 ledo road, albany, GA 31707 accountable but ask that someone assist me so I can just get back to a normal life and transport my family around safely.
Our 2010 chevy Traverse required an entirely new power steering system after 65k miles and 3 years. It required $2500 worth of repair; a pump, gear, hose, clamp, and fluid. Our car was one of 4 Traverses and 2 acadia's at century Chevrolet dealership requiring the exact same repair at the same time. Also, contacting other mechanic's in the area in an attempt to price compare, we were told this is a known design flaw in these vehicles within the auto repair industry which gm has yet to do anything about. The internet is rampant with a multitude of related stories of power steering issues in these vehicles. A recall should be required of gm to rectify this issue.
