Park to shift keeps popping up on dash while driving. Vehicle will not recognise when in park at times to allow vehicle to be shut off properly. The stability track warning pops up on dash now as well. The check emits comes on with codes for all going back to transmission control module system and when replaced spark plugs we found that the pcv (cam cvr to turbo) tube was cracked all the way through where the hard plastic meets metal on the part and had to replace it. This is all after multiple failed parts that had to be replaced dealing with the ac unit and it’s lines. Today is the second time in two weeks that the vehicle has been in operational mode in the middle of a foward motion driving at the time. Luckily this time I was in a housing area and not a major street or on the loop 360 when it decided to stop driving while in motion in drive.

Transmission shifts to a low gear and will not upshift causing the vehicle to only go about 10 mph @4,ooo rpm. Dealer says it is a solenoid in the transmission that has failed. Part is on limited distribution because of significant instances of this occurance. This is a dangeruos situation that could cause great peril. My vehicle has only 22,000 miles. This is very premature for this new of a vehicle.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the engine auto start-stop system engaged, and the esc warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving the following day, the vehicle failed to exceed 60 mph and gradually decelerated. The vehicle later failed to exceed 6 mph and failed to respond upon shifting to reverse(r). The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where several diagnostic tests were performed, and the dealer determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 23v172000 (power train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to cover half the cost of the repair. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

When I shift my car into park and turn off the engine, an error message appears-"shift to park. " although the dashboard displays that the vehicle is in park, the radio and lights remain active & I am unable to turn off my car. To resolve this issue, I must restart the car and cycle through park, reverse, or neutral before attempting to shift back into park again. It often takes multiple attempts to eliminate the error message. My Traverse is currently at the dealership, where I have been informed that it needs a new shifter, which is not covered under warranty. These vehicle is garage kept, one owner & has less than 32k miles on it- I have also discovered that this issue is recognized by gm, with numerous complaints documented on this site alone. Given that this is a widespread problem affecting many owners, it seems unreasonable for us to shoulder the expense of this repair.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated, jerked, and failed to respond on some occasions, requiring the vehicle to be turned off and restarted. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked significantly and almost stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had failed to respond upon shifting to reverse(r). The vehicle was taken to o'reilly’s auto parts; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact was informed that the diagnostic test confirmed that the vehicle was in drive(d), even though the gear shifter was in reverse(r). The dealer was notified of the failure and recommended a diagnostic test. The vehicle was taken to kenny wilson transmission, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the transmission throttle had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 158,000.
My vehicle has had the issue of putting the car in park and it says it is not it park, have to wiggle the gear shift around for it to recognize that the car is fully in park. Now the transmission will not go in to reverse. The r on the dashboard is blinking. Yes, it is available for inspection.
My 2024 chevy Traverse is leaking coolant within the radiator hose system. While driving on a busy interstate, the vehicle went into protective limp mode reducing acceleration, creating a dangerous situation for myself to manage. A check engine light did come on with the reduced acceleration notice. I am having to add coolant to the vehicle constantly to drive it. Parts on our national back order now due to the huge influx of others experiencing similar issues. Dealership has confirmed leak - however I’m told it is not covered until manufacturer warranty and can be costly to repair!.

Vechicle shudders during acceleration. Especially between 20 - 40 mph's. Checy dealership recommended transmission flush. Problem persists after transmission flush. Torque converter replacement suggested.
Purchased the car in August 2025 and have had into service 3 years for the same issues. When driving the car, the rpm will get "stuck" between 5-6 when only driving 20-30 mph. Once I slow down/brake, it will jump into a park effect, but still be in drive. The car has been inspected by chevy 3 times, but they can't get any fault code on the vehicle, so they can't "fix" the issue. This puts myself and my small children at risk because if it jumps into the park effect, while still in drive, I can not move and someone could rear-end me. I do have video evidence.
Transmission solenoid. Common. Needs to be reported. Its know as the week link to this vehicle. The manufacturer knows and there are many complaints. This vehicle needs to be recalled. Safety concern while driving.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to respond intermittently upon depression of the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to respond or responded slowly when releasing the gear shifter button intermittently. The gear shifter was easily moved to a different gear from unintended contact. While accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated to respond, jerked, and made an abnormal sound while the rpms were significantly elevated. The vehicle failed to respond upon shifting to reverse(r), and the gear shifter was sticky. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that there were fault codes found that were related to the transmission. An appointment was scheduled with the dealer for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

I am getting a shift to park error code on dashboard. The shifter gear is in park but the vehicle will not turn off. I have called the dealer several times and they are told the problem but eventually they hang up on me. There seems to be a class action suit out for the issue but no recall. I would like to see recall because this is a serious safety issue. One if the vehicle does not completely turn off and you are not aware of the issue then your battery can run out. If you are in a urban/remote area which I am no dealerships for about 50 miles away can be a serious problem being stranded on the I 15 freeway. When you put the vehicle in park sometimes it pops out of gear too. There were no previous warnings prior to the shift to park dash indicator. I am not a rich person. My vehicle just has over 72,000 miles. This should be covered by a recall. Please help.
Vibrations/shaking when driving. Took vehicle to a mechanic and the entire transmission needs to be replaced. I researched online and this is a common issue for the 2018 model. There where several transmission related recalls but my vehicle was not included in any of the recalls.
I purchased a 2019 chevy Traverse brand new off the lot as single owner and kept up with maintenance. The transmission just went out while I was on the highway and abruptly begin reducing speed and I was unable to accelerate. This was dangerous as no warning lights came on prior to this happening to warn that there were any engine issues. This could have caused an accident on the highway due to me not having control to accelerate and vehicle DE-accelerated without warning. Also the passenger seat belt stop working and would not click. There was a shift to park warning that kept coming up on the car about 1. 5 years ago that should be a recall as the car would not go off when turned off. The radio and lights in the vehicle would continue to run while the engine was off. I am concerned about all of the issue with this car that makes me question the quality and build of this vehicle. The first 4 years this vehicle was great and then all of a sudden it begin to breakdown in parts. The dealership confirmed all of these things and I asked if warranties were on these items and it was not.
Shift to park errors over multiple years, shutter when accelerating. Now pressure control solenoid code vehicle will not go in reverse or shift out of first gear. Transmission needs replacement. This is my family vehicle, I have 3 small children and it has turned off at stop lights etc. My families safety has been jeopardized many times driving this vehicle, especially the last time in particular. The vehicle stopped engaging in reverse and then in first would accelarate by itself on the way home from my 8 year olds baseball game.
I had my upper radiator hose leaking coolant after only owning this brand new vehicle about a year and half. Has less then 20,000 miles on it. I was able to get it into a chevy dealer and they confirmed the leak. Seems the original part was defective. Was told I could take it home and drive it until the part came in(no eta on that) but to monitor the levels of coolant. Within two days I had a huge puddle of coolant in my driveway and had to bring it back to the dealer immediately. Thankfully I had coolant on hand and was able to refill the reservoir to make it to the dealer. This is a big concern because this is my wife’s car that she uses primarily to transport our two young children around. Thankfully she didn’t get stranded somewhere.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while in park, there was an alarm beeping. The message “shift to park” was displayed. Additionally, the tpms warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.
Shift to park. Unable to turn the car off even though the car is in park. This was previously fixed in 10/24 and started up in 10/25 a few days after the 1yr warranty. I reached out to the dealership that repaired it in 2024 and was told that I would have to pay for the service as the part is not covered under the powertrain warranty. I reached out to gm for assistance and that was a lost cause. I was told that the repairs will only last 1 to 2 yrs, so this appears that it will be a temporary fix. My car has about 55000 miles on it. To know that I may possibly have to continue to get this fixed, I feel like this should be considered a lemon and they should refund me for the cost of the vehicle or give me another car. Gm knows that the shift to park is an ongoing issue with this year, make, model and have failed to issue a recall.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after reversing out of the driveway and shifting into drive(d), the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle made an abnormal sound, as if the transmission and engine had detached and fell onto the road. The contact had only driven forward approximately 30-feet when the rear wheels locked up. The contact shifted to park(p) and waited for a while. When the vehicle was shifted into drive(d), the contact was unable to accelerate above 10 mph. The vehicle was driven in limp mode to the local dealer. The contact stated that the check engine warning illuminated close by the dealer. The contact stated that the dealer was located approximately 1. 9 miles away from the residence. The contact stated that the dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and assigned a case advisor to the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Continue to get a shift to park error when car is in park, not allowing me to turn off and creating an unsafe situation.
I noticed that there was oil on the bottom of the transmission. I took it to a mechanic and he said that it was the rear crankshaft oil seal. He replaced it and a month later, it seems to be doing it again. I have instances where it will be in drive and I will hit the gas but it doesn't go anywhere.
Receiving a persistent “shift to park” message, after the car has been placed in park. This causes an inability to turn off my engine completely and is draining my battery. As a temp fix, I've had to wiggle the shifter many times, turn the car on and off, place the car from park into drive many times to get the car to realize it's in park. Scheduled with the dealership and referenced the TSB that was issued for this specific safety issue (in writing). Brought the car in for the repair and the technician and intake person were both aware of this major problem and have seen other chevy's with the same issue. Repair is $809. 00 for a shifter assembly. [xxx] - [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I have a shift to park issue and gm wants $800 to repair the problem.
My car has twice been fixed with this shift to park message and now it is in the shop once again to be fixed!! and this has also had the torque converter fixed twice now. And it is still doing the same issues. This needs to be something that chevy is replacing. I am a single mother and can’t afford all these problems and yet I keep having to make a car payment and get these things fixed.
Shift to park warning comes on every time I put my car into park. I can give the gear shift a hard tap so it can go into park and my car will turn off. I feel like after a period of tapping the great shift it will turn into a bigger problem.
Each time I drive the vehicle, the transmission has a shudder to where it almost stops pulling. To me, this could cause an accident due to it failing when in heavy traffic. These transmission issues on these vehicles need to be recalled and corrected before someone gets hurt or possibly killed.
Maf sensor went bad on my 18 to Traverse. I was told not to change the sensor that it was the manifold. Two days later I'm being told that my transmission is bad. I am in process now if getting it rebuilt. Needless to say I'm out a lot of money.
I’ve had this vehicle for about a year or less the car ran fine with minor problems that come with having a vehicle. Up until last week the car never showed any signs of a failing transmission, it went from running fine to shuttering and suddenly I wasn’t able to reverse. The check engine light never came on, I’ve did all my routine checks and more with the dealership I bought it from and was never told anything when the vehicle was brought in for inspections.
We bought a 2019 chevy Traverse high country in 2018. Oct 2021-Jan 2022 chevy held the car to put a new transmission in, at no cost to us, with no explanation, no paperwork. Now we are in September 2025 and the car needs another transmission. In oct 2021 I was accelerating through an intersection and the car stopped in the middle of the intersection, it was terrifying. Luckily people around me realized the situation and help me get the car to safety. I had my two children in the car under 3. Fast forward to sept 2025, I am merging on the highway accelerating and my car is slowing down. I had the car towed to a dealership and the transmission has gone into self protect mode, identifying a gear shift problem between gears 3-4. Three transmissions in a car from end 2018-sept 2025.
Around 65,000 miles I started to get a "shift to park" message when I tried to turn off the engine. The car was already in park. This is continuing to happen. I see that it has been an issue on this model since 2016. There needs to be a recall on this issue. You need to be able to turn off your car. Service bulletins have been sent out but no recall.
When car is parked and tried to turn off it’s giving me a “shift to park” and it won’t turn off the car. I changed gears to try and take it off park and then put back in park and same message and it would not turn off car. After multiple attempts it finally turned it off.
I purchased a 2018 chevy Traverse with 6 miles on it. I keep my vehicle in mint condition and maintenance as needed and required. Recently in the past few months my car has been bucking when shifting gear engages in an automatic transmission. I took to dealership, and they stated it was the torque converter, and my vehicle has exactly 20,270 miles only. Not even passed the 36,000 marks but over 36 months. I bought an extended warranty thru dealership which now sending someone to dealership to verify that this is infact a torque problem which were found 2017 and 2019 but not 2018 is hard to believe. They will be keeping it for 7 days and already had a recall for 2017 and 2019 so are they stating it only occurred in those years, and they fix the 2017 but then it skipped 2018 and jumped to 2019. Why have I not received any recalls since I buy most of the GMC vehicles and lived in the same home for 35 years. Its awfully strange that I never receive any recalls when I owned silverado truck, savana high top van with special needs lift, pontiac torrent, chevy Traverse. The warning lane change or the blindspot warning shut off too. Was told to wash the window on the front and on the camera back and did not clear the sensors. Was told to check transmission fluid and it was fine and I do oil changes since my dad taught us every 2500 -3000 depending on driving and if only little mileage check it anyway monthly with the dip stick. Like I stated I keep my car in mint condition and safety is number one issue in family due to the special needs son riding in it.
