In July 06' I bought and installed a wix brand #33183, plastic body, gasoline line filter on my 02' chevy Venture. In the spring of 08' I found that it was leaking gasoline on the floor of my garage. I believe a leak had developed in the plastic body. I contacted wix in April 08' and turned over the filter for evaluation. I have yet to receive a report back after numerous inquiries.

the consumer is a canadian resident. When the consumer exited the vehicle, he smelled gasoline. The consumer had the engine turned off and inspected underneath the vehicle and discovered fuel was pouring from the gas connection pipe that goes into the tank. The sealant was plastic as well as the tank. The consumer immediately drove to a local GMC dealer about two to three kilometers away and spoke to a mechanic there regarding the matter. The mechanic inspected the leak and noted this was a common problem and the sealant connector had broken or cracked allowing a fuel leak. There was no guard whatsoever around this connector piece. The vehicle originally had a full tank and at this time it was half full when the consumer arrived at the GMC dealership. The consumer was concerned about a potential ignition source for the leak. The dealership has ordered a new gas tank for which the consumer has to pay for because gm notes this was something other than a safety defect. The consumer is concerned the same plastic fittings are going to be replaced on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 37,000 kilometers, current kilometers is 37,000 as well. The vehicle was purchased new.

At morning start up I smelled gas. Checked under van and saw puddle of gas in middle. Took van to chev. Dealer and found gas line leaking. Leak is only about 18 inches away from catalytic converter. If wind was bowling just right a fire could start. This is 1998 chev. Venture with 13000 miles. This is the forth time I have heard of this problem.

A major gasoline leak was caused by corrosion of the high-pressure fuel line along the underbody of my 1999 Chevrolet Venture Mini-van (mileage 80k). I lost about 10 gallons of gas in going about 30 miles, and maybe was lucky not to have suffered a fire or explosion. The chevy dealer, in grass lake michigan, replaced the fuel line for $602. Including labor. I have saved all of the old parts.

I purchased a 2000 Chevrolet Venture van this past Aug. 2003, (mil. 57,900 );at a local dealership. This Nov. 2003,it developed a severe gas line leakage. Taking it in for a check of the source,it was found to have a pressure line gas leak(the line rusted in the engine ompartment,by the drivers side fenderwell. This situation in my opinion is a fire hazard!!!! this vehicle is almost new!!!!!!!!the van now has only 58,312 miles on it.
Consumer states that fuel line was dripping gas over the engine. Dealer notified.
About one month after installation, replacement fuel filter started leaking. My wife noticed gasoline smell in garage but didn't take any action and pulled out of the garage and started to her destination. About 3 miles into her trip, she ran out of gas. Tow truck driver discovered leaky fuel filter located under the car, just under the driver's seat. Evidently when car was running gasoline was being sprayed on to the ground, as evidenced by discolored strip on my driveway, about 18 inches wide. Car was towed to dealership, which claimed replacement part was defective. Called gm customer service to get explanation for why part failed, but they were unable to provide any help. I feel that this failure represented the most serious type of safety problem. The vehicle could have caught fire at any time, especially with gasoline being sprayed under relatively high pressure by the rear fuel pump. This type of failure should never occur. Gm was unwilling to provide my any type of feedback other than I should trust them, that they would investigate this failure and that it should never happen again. Given the potential risk from this failure, I felt their response was totally inadequate.
Gas odor, gas is pouring out, dealer replaced fuel filter. Did not help.
While driving the consumer smelled gas fumes. Parked the car ,came back later and saw a big puddle of gasoline under the vehicle, then with a stong smell. Dealer has been notified.
