general problems of the 2016 Chrysler 200 - part 2

Car suddenly died in traffic and wouldn't start back. Car has 66k miles. After getting a jump we got car home and hooked battery to a charger. Next time I went to drive it it died again and I was able to get it started back but the instrument panel blinks on and off and all of the warning lights start going on and off. Currently unable to drive it because it will just die while driving and with instrument panel blinking it doesn't show accurate speed. Please recall this car before it kills someone!.

My car started turning off as I was trying to drive about 3 weeks ago, I was told to go to a nearby dealership which I did instead of the dealership changing my oil they gave me two quarts of oil. As of today 7-23-19 my vehicle is back at the dealership where I purchased it back in 11-2018 because they are not able to tell me what's wrong with my vehicle which is northland Chrysler in oak park, mi.

Stop and go traffic for about 20 mins, once I entered the intersection the vehicle completely stopped without warning. I could not locate the emergency release to place the vehicle in neutral. Car sat in the intersection got 1. 5 hours.

The transmission will change gear unexpectedly. Cause my car to jerk shake and unusual long delay to accelerate at times even rev high while prolonged delay before accelerating. This has caused multiple situations that made the safety of driving this vehicle unpredictable and a hazard for me and other motorist.

I've been into the service department over 6 times for the same issues. This car is so unsafe to drive. I believe this is a transmission issue. My car creates a very hard jerking when switching gears or speeding up. It also shakes when the air conditioning is on and I am only getting about 15 mi to the gallon when it should be 27. I've left multiple complaints since I have had this vehicle, worked with the device department, worked with Chrysler and the situation and safety concern is still not rectified. Please look into this. It's my only transportation and I would like to keep myself, my 3 babies, and other drivers safe. Thank you!.

Car will not start, put foot down on break and press the ignition and nothing happens with the engine. All lights, radio, screens turn on but not the engine. I have tested the batter, alternator, and starter and all are good. If I wait the car will start again just fine later. Can was parked after driving to work in the morning this happens in the afternoon.

My Chrysler 200 started shifting really hard and as you're driving down the road you can feel it jerking. I called the Chrysler dealership that is local to me took it in they only drove at 3 miles and decided there was nothing wrong with it except for a software update. I paid $132 for a labor charge for a software update that never fix the problem. Took it back 2 days later they can't diagnose it with spark plug issues. Paid $160 for spark plugs and labor just to have the same problem. They still after a week later have no idea what is wrong with my car. Just wondering what kind of technicians actually work for Chrysler.

2016 Chrysler 200s with just over 27,000 miles started on fire due to as of yet undetermined cause, 1000 miles after being inspected by 2 dealerships, and about 2000 miles after oil change and inspection by a third dealership. The car was declared total loss by state farm insurance. (claim 228365z08, mike o'brien) the car was listed in well maintained condition at the time of loss. At this time state farm has been told by there corporate that no further investigation as to cause will be conducted. The fire happened on the side of 275n near eureka road exit on 9 April 2019. My wife melissa our 8 year old daughter lily, and my mother-in law were in the vehicle ag the time of the fire. (michigan state police metro south post #22, report #22-3445-19) -oil changed at suburban Chrysler in novi before leaving for the approximately 1000 mile trip and week in FL. -during stay, the car smelled hot so she took it to sunset Chrysler (florida reg: mv-01277) in sarasota, FL. Personnel at dealership were rude, and told her her car's state of cleanliness was causing the smell. -my wife needed to drive home in a couple of days and was still concerned. One thing that I had her check was coolant which was low and had not been noticed by sunset. She then took the car to a second dealership (douglas Jeep Chrysler Dodge ram, FL reg: mv-43329) for inspection. Douglas, while more polite, conducted coolant system and other checks, but determined there was no issue with the vehicle. The service department guaranteed my wife that the vehicle was safe to drive back to michigan and even went on to say that they would not let an unsafe vehicle leave the shop. -that same night I contacted Chrysler who initiated their own investigation. (58355399)fca refused to comment on the source of the fire or to honor the warranty on the car.

Engine was rebuilt/parts replaced within 6 weeks of owing the vehicle. Vehicle was returned again for sudden shock when exceeding 45 mph while driving. Today 3/20/19 was informed airbag is defective but not covered under warranty. Vehicle is skipping again at 45+ mph.

My car have been given me problems for about 6months. Engine light is on. Car keep cutting off in the middle of traffic. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer, I know six times before my factory warranty ran out, and they could never fix it. Took it today and they told me my warranty is out, and now I have to start doing random work to it to find out what's wrong. The employee of Chrysler checked the car to see if it was as giving a code for what is wrong. She said it was not showing a code. The waited until warranty ran out, to make me pay for it. Tl - the contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while his girlfriend was driving an unknown speed and the engine seized and the gear shift seized. The vehicle was taken to sandy sansing Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (64348 us-90, milton, FL 32570. 850-623-6866) who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the battery had failed, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000. Jc.

Parking brake will spontaneously engage while driving on city street going less than 15mph. Check turns on but no codes and will not turn off. Biggest issue lately is that car does not recognize key fab. Batteries have been changed and neither key fab is recognized. Car can be started, get out and get back in and fab is jot recognized. Has left me stranded many times. Then when go back, it suddenly works.

The car will shut off while driving. Especially when making a right or left turn, the car will shut off in traffic. This definitely can cause a safety issue on the highway, in which it have shut off on me.

I was making a turn the other day and my engine stopped. The center monitor on my dashboard told me to put the car in park and restart the engine.

Vehicle sounds as if it wants to shut off when standing idle sometimes and even sometimes as I'm slowing down. And recently took a road trip had trouble with cruise control as if it was accelerating on it's on or getting stuck. I checked my VIN number and found no particular recalls specific to the VIN. However, I received an email that the Chrysler 200 itself had recalls relating to electrical, steering and overall safety of the vehicle. The problems I've been having seem to be closely related to those specified in recall.

Several complaints to repair issue with acceleration and deceleration on vehicle. Randomly the vehicle will hesitate to accelerate from a stationary position. Engine, motor mounts and transmission have been replaced and issue remains. Vehicle will also hesitate to start causing me to have to try again to start the vehicle. Battery has had to be replaced twice.

While in motion my car has stopped running on 5 different times, 3 out of the 5 times I was in crusie control driving on the hwy when I lost all control. The other 2 times was in town at a low speed. Car is on but wont go any where, its stuck in drive the alarms and several lights on the dash come on rpm will rum up to about 2000 but still wont do anything else. Transmission has been shifting hard and driving hard, quite a bit had it serviced 3times, transmission had to be replaced there was a hole in it that came from internal. Air bag wiring harnas had to be replaced as well, head light harnest had to be replaced due to wires were shorting out my battery, igintion had to be replaced as well due to the wiring and program.

Since I've bought the car, upon accelerating, stopping, pretty much doing any driving the car will bubble under and jerk as if you're manually switching shifts. It has only gotten worse over the 2 years I've owned this car and no one can seem to help because there's no "code" that finds the problem. My car also, will lock the wheel while I'm driving, lock the brake and gas and turn completely off as if the battery died and I can't put the car in neutral or anything since it is locked. This has almost caused my to be in multiple vehicle crashes. The car is now shaking and still having a bubbly feel under the car as if it's having a hard time starting up while I'm driving.

Was making a left turn going between 15 to 20 mph and the vehicle just died out in the turning process. Was able to restart the vehicle after 3 attempts.

Vehicle has a hard time changing gears. When speeding up vehicle jerks hard and makes loud noice in tranmission area. Passengers have noticed how it struggles to change gears. Have taken into to dealer but they say they can not replicate problem. It also seems to surge randomly when coming to a stop. Afraid I'll hit car in front of me. Also dealer not able to repair.

Car has shut down at least 4 to 5 times while driving on city streets luckily. There has been numerous complaints by other Chrysler 200 owners about the same problem but yet there has been no resolution.

Purchased car brand new may 2016 September 2016 driving on a city street my car turners off with a flashing shift in to park on the dash board. December 2016 2nd time doing the shift into park upon entering highway 16 steering wheel locks up making it difficult to move out of harms way to shift into park. February same incident on highway 16 right before merging on to interstate 5 south. Car doesn't restart when pressing engine start. I have to sit for 5-6 minutes before car turns on and the. Drive until it attempts again. I e taking it to the dealer they don't see the problem after resetting the computer and getting an oil change car still turns off while driving. I've taking it back on may 2017 car still doing the shift into park locking wheel and turning engine off. After being with the dealer again not only does it shift into park it's now over heating. I bought the car as the first owner with 10 miles.

Purchased my car new iit has been about 8 months while entering they highway the car completely shut off on me as the gear panel flashed p first an airbag failure light came on then emergency brake light then tire pressure the wheel did not lock up I was able to coast over to the side of the highway because there was heavy traffic which is likely what saved me from being hit all warning lights went off after 30 seconds expect now the engine light was on I was able to start the car again and go home I have since taken the car in and they could not find nor repeat the problem at the dealer if it wasn't for heavy highway traffic I would have been injured or died.

Sudden loss of engine when making hard turns the car completely dies out and locks my steering and puts the car into a full break lock this leads to me having to try to start my car multiple times this is very dangerous considering this could be fatal when it does out I've had problems with this car and have brought it in multiple times with no fix.

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. While operating the vehicle, the engine suddenly shut off and the vehicle would not immediately restart. The vehicle was towed to allen samuels Chrysler (1639 highway 45 byp, jackson, TN), but the cause of the failure was unable to be determined. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 31,000.

Doing 25 mph car engine just stopped had to drift to side of road put car in park and restart.

A few times pulling out into the traffic the car would fail to accelerate properly almost causing an accident. Also, some times while driving the car seems as if its dying or loosing power. It is also rattling when I crank it up. The other thing is that the transmission while accelerating seems to take a while to switch gears and then the car jerks really hard when it finally shift gears. I've taken it in to the dealership and they just said that they checked it and cant find anything wrong but that they have had similar complaints but that "its just the fact that the car is a 4 cylinder. " it's very scary pulling out into traffic.

As I travel down the highway going about 50 to 60 mile an hour sometime the car jake's real hard into gear and also when I come to a complete stop and take off again going about 5 to 10 mph it shifts hard again.

My car will die while driving or puts itself in neutral while on the hwy. We have almost been in 5 or more accidents becasue the car behind us has no idea my car has stopped while going 65 mph and car just dies. We have been in touch with the dealer they have tried fixing this car at least 5 times as of now we have has their rental for car for over 35 days my vehicle has 19,000 we bought it brand new. Also would like to go on record if anything happens to me or my children because of this defect I gave the dealership many chances to fix they have even called someone from out of town to fix and I'm still waiting I do not want to die or get injured due to this problem also the problem started at 306 miles and has not been fixed yet.
