I bought this vehicle, thinking it was great. I tried driving it home, and never made it. I lost all power on the highway in front of the semi. In return I did not have brakes, I didn't have steering, all lights turned off, and to top it off it wouldn't start again. I've replaced the pcm, starter, alternator, the power distribution, all the fuses/relays, and here I am still spending hundreds of dollars to try to get my vehicle to work again, and it's not seeming possible. I have 2 kids and now once I get it started I must worry if it'll happen again. The car only has 120,000 miles on it. It's been very well kept. And now I've bought all these parts and paid all this money to have it repaired. And now I'm out of my other vehicle, and with the corona virus I am out of work, and have no way to keep spending money to fix it or find out the problem. The electric light was on I replaced throttle and sensor as well. That didn't fix it neither.
I had a recall to replace ignition switch, had it replaced and returned to shop and they told me that the starter is going out. Replaced starter and the ignition is doing what the recall stated. Sometimes it starts on acc and sometimes not at all. So I replaced the starter when it was the switch all along.
I had the ignition control module replaced in April 2016 due to recall. Today I am having the same problem with the vehicle not starting. When I turn the ignition to start position, there is a pause, and nothing happens. I have ruled out a new battery, starter, alternator faults. Research has narrowed it to the pcm, tipm, or the wireless ignition node. Have made an appointment with the Chrysler dealer to diagnose further. The vehicle was stationary in my driveway.
On April 7, 2015 I had trouble starting my car. I thought it was the starter and took the car to my local service station where my car "died". They evaluated the car and told me it was the key and wins component. On April 8, the service station manager called me to say that the local Chrysler dealership did not know when they would be able to get the part, so I rented a car. On April 17, I was advised to call Chrysler customer service. I now had a case number and was told my issue would be expedited but the part was not available in the USA. On April 27, I wrote to the president and vp of Chrysler corporation asking for their help. On may 6, I received a call from mike at corporate headquarters saying the part would be here on may 13 (it wasn't) and Chrysler would pay for my car rental (which they did). On may 26, I was told that the keys were in but not the wins component - that might not be ready until July. Later that day, my car was fixed !! but with Jeep parts. It cost me over $1200; the trunk doesn't open with the key; the tire light remains on at all times and the Chrysler part is still not available. And I may have to pay for the repair again once the right part comes in!!!.
When turning the key, starter would not work. Had car towed to shop . Starter was replaced, still not working. Doesn't sync with computer for turnover. Have to put foot on brake to start car.
So I was having starting issues with my car, it would start when it wanted to. . So I took my car to Chrysler on August 23rd, 2013 to have them diagnosis the issue, well they took a day to do that and called me and told me that it was the wireless module device and that it would take a week to come in and they would call me. A week passed and I had to call them, and that's when they told me that the wireless module device was on back order and that they weren't sure when the part would be in. . . 8 weeks later the part finally came and they added the part and it still wouldn't work, so they said they where going to have to another diagnosis test on it. . After that they called me and said that they would have to put a new starter and new wires on it because they wires were melted and they would have to change them out. Ok so they fixed that issue and then said if I have the same problem again I would need a new tipm module device. . A few weeks later I started having the same starting issues and now it getting worse. . . Chrysler wants me to pay another 1000. 00 to fix the tipm module device. . . . . I just read online about the law suite against Chrysler for that part for my year and model. .
