2006 Chrysler 300 touring 3. 5l v6 engine. Car has intermittent stall at slow speeds or at complete stop. Sometimes feels like it stumbles, other times it dies suddenly and unable to tell the engine shut down. I have to put car in park and completely switch the ignition fully off and turn back on to start position. When it stalls while rolling, I have to brake and bring car to full stop, with no power steering, and go through the same start procedure. No trouble codes are generated, and no check engine light indicator illuminated. Car usually starts right up, but sometimes I have to keep cranking starter, stumbles to catch as if starving for fuel. A/c was on first two times but also happens with a/c off. Research online reveals an open recall for the fuel tank on the 300c model with a 5. 7l or 6. 4l engine. Problems described on the 300c model are nearly identical to what my 300 touring is experiencing. Pcm replacement does not correct problem. Some noticed it happening only with a full tank. Stopgap measure is to only fill no more than 3/4 tank. I am currently testing this idea. The safety issue is significant and twofold; three times I have had one other adult and two children in the car. While stalled at a major intersection traffic signal trying to restart the engine, other vehicles approached from the rear at 50-55 mph. A rear end collision with children in the back seat would likely be fatal. Secondly, during a stall event while the car is moving, it is extremely difficult to steer the vehicle to a safe place, and braking takes significant pedal pressure once power assist bleeds off. This is a serious concern and obvious collision hazard, as I may not be able to stop or steer to a safe location or avoid a hazard. I had the car at the dealer for over three weeks in July 2024 and they were unable to duplicate the issue. Their answer was to drive car until it happens more frequently. This is unacceptable. No other solution or repair was provided.

When gas tank is filled with more that 3/4 of a tank of gas, fumes are very strong within the vehicle and around it. This continues until the gas tank has less than 3/4 of a tank of gas. There is a recall for the evap canister on my year, make and model. . . But my VIN is not included.
Unknown - recall open has no remedy for months now.

While driving my child to school a short while ago today, my car accelerated on its own and would not brake. I was attempting to stop for an upcoming red light. The car accelerated without me pressing the gas and the brakes went completely out. I was able to avoid a collision. This lasted for under 1 minute, then suddenly the car decelerated and I was then able to brake.

This will be my 3rd time having this damn cheap ass plastic oil filter/cooler housing replaced and this will be 2nd time having done less than a 2yr time-frame. . . But this time; after getting the oil changed at walmart today, my car was about to catch on fire from majority of the oil was running done on the passenger side of the car where the transmission sits and burning off of the hot ass catalytic converter! it's damn shame that Chrysler/mopar had more than enough complaints about this well known catastrophic issue and won't take any accountability for it. . . That's why dorman #926-959 and a few more companies had at least stepped up to the plate and created an better version, of the oil filter cooler housing. . Read more...

Main fuel pump and accompanied electrical connect. The fuel pump and electrical wiring harness is available upon request. My safety was at risk due to a faulty electrical connection inside the fuel tank. My vehicle made a loud hmming sound at a stop sign, upon continuing forward the vehicle shut off randomly. Upon inspection, the fuel was not sending to the engine. We bought a new fuel pump and replaced at the side of the road. When inspecting the oem fuel pump and accompanied electrical connection, we noticed over heated wiring and melts plastic inside the fuel tank on the underside of the fuel pump, as well as burnt connections on the outside of the fuel tank on the tip side of the fuel pump. We have pictures to support. No warning signs, signals, or lights were present at the time of failure. When purchasing new fuel pump, there were no instructions for replacement of electrical connections. The only indication we found as to what was happening was through public forums online, showing the electrical wiring was faulty and needed replacing with the alternative wiring harness due to wiring (hot wire, b+) being located too close to the grounding wiring causing it to burn amd/or arch creating a problem with which could cause fire and explosion. No information was readily available nor have we received any information on potential catastrophic injury or failure.
My backup camera works when it wants to mostly not at all. It just flickers when I put the car in reverse. I really need it because of the blind spots. Also since the fuel issue was recalled and fixed my car smells like it's not burning the gas properly. In other words I can smell fumes.

Engine constantly leaking coolant from multiple areas on the engine. Have had to constantly get it repaired at least once a month. Also have had constant cylinder misfires, fuel injector system keeps going bad.

The vehicle's lcd screen has become delaminated which causes the control of the radio, air conditioning, navigation, and other features controlled by the "radio" portion of the car to become dysfunctional. The car will randomly beep, change air temperatures, start navigation, cause the loss of hands-free communication. This is a safety hazard as it causes the driver to be distracted in order to attend to the incessant beeping and issues related to ac/heat, navigation or radio (volume, etc. ). My fuel gage is now not operating correctly. I have filled the tank up over 3 times and it only shows 3/4 of a tank.

There is a hairline crack on top of the fuel pump plastic housing cause leak on top of the housing. Fuel vapor in ac present as well as inside and outside the car. This could be a potential fire hazard and I have read many forums in which many other owners of the same make and model of the car has.
Strong fuel smell in cabin and outside of car when gas tank is full. Discovered gas in the cabin sitting on top of the fuel tank under the passenger-rear seat. Multiple posts in online forums confirm this is a known issue. Vehicle owner ordered a new o-ring to attempt repair. Area around fuel pump under driver's-rear seat was not affected. No warning lights, notices or performance issues. Only indication is strong gas fumes in car after filling up the gas tank (auto shutoff at pump, not topped off) which persists for several days. Problem seems minimized if gas tank is shorted 2-3 gallons from max capacity on fillup (about 14 gallons when car is close to empty per the gas gauge in dashboard. ) car was not inspected by dealer, insurance agent, police, independent service center, or anyone else other than owner.

Strong fuel oder in car after fueling. It's been venting in the cabin and it makes you lightheaded after some time of driving. I've checked for leaks and no leaks. I suspect fuel is gathering under rear seats. The smell seems to be most prominent around the rear d/s seat and near the fuel nozzle entry area.
Fuel vapors are strong when I get gas, car is now leaking gas when it’s over half a tank.

Gas smell coming from the tank or a fuel pump when gas is full. Hairline crack in fuel pump/tank causing horrible smell inside car cabin and exterior.
Took my car to the dealer to have the fuel pump replaced. Car was repaired and picked up only to have it returned for a fuel leak complaint. Dealership said there was no leak nor evidence of a leak, however, the car is leaking fuel. After my experience I searched for any information on this topic and found others that have had a similar issue with the repair/complaint. This has not been resolved after a call to the dealership owner.
I here to report what seems to be an on-going issue with the older model Chrysler 300's. I have an 2006 and just recently started smelling gas fumes or an gas odor inside my car. I had a mechanic look at the problem. He assumes it was a cracked or damaged seal. He took the backseat out and looked. The ring was intact but the fuel filter had a small crack in it. We fixed it and thought the problem was over. He said the car would have a heavy fuel smell for a couple of days but would go away once the car was aired out. 3 days go by and though the fumes remained. Now,I see that gas isactually leaking from the underside of the rear passenger side. And the smell is still there. I am taking the car to another repair shop to do a more through exam of the car. Leaking gas should be the least of my problems.
Our 2005 Chrysler 300 stalls and will not restart for many minutes after we refuel it. Chrysler stated they have extended the warranty to a life time coverage if you are experiencing this issue you are able to get it covered under said warranty. We have contacted them and they state this one is not covered. How can we go about getting this covered. It obviously has the issue they have recalled and should be covered!! thank you, shannon hainzlsperger.
Every time I fill my car with gas I get a gas smell inside my car and garage for the next few day. I call about a recall for my car and was told that my car was too old to be serviced at the dealership where I bought it.
After I feel the vehicle up without topping off the vehicle starts running rough after about 10-15 minutes. The car shuts off and error message comes up to put the car in park and then select desired gear. The entire time you can smell gas because the car is leaking fuel from the right rear wheelhouse area. This is very unsafe. I was just driving on i95 and this happened to me. This vehicle could have caused a pile up on the highway. People could have died. Recall.
On multiple occasions I refueled my vehicle without topping off. A strong odor of fuel can be smelled in the cabin of the car after fueling while driving and even more when stopped at a traffic light. When I parked to investigate the strong gasoline smell, raw fuel could be seen running from behind the wheel well onto the ground. I turned off the vehicle and waited for the fuel to stop hitting the ground before starting and driving the vehicle again. My concern was the fuel leaking onto the hot exhaust and causing a fire.
I have 130k mileage on my Chrysler 300 2007 model. For about 3months, I’ve been experiencing fuel leaks from the bottom rear corner of the driver side just directly beneath my fuel tank, which also makes both the exterior and interior of the car smell of gas. I took the car for maintenance and the fuel tank seals were replaced after my fuel pump was changed. There was no visible fuel spill after the rear seats were removed and inspected but there was constant droplets of fuel from beneath the rear left side of the car. I don’t know what else to do and what can cause this?. . Besides, whenever I put fuel in my tank, I can smell fuel coming from the ac vents. Also, my airbag warning light has been on for a long time on my dashboard. Help!!!.
My car has been at the first dealership (brewbaker Dodge, montgomery, ala. ) on November 11, 2020. I got the car back March of 2021. The problem of misfires on cylinder 1 side, hesitation when proceeding from a red light, and stalling out. The problem continued so; I took it to another dealership (stiver Dodge, prattville, ala. ) in August 2021. I was given the car back in February 2022 stating to me that the problem may correct itself after being driven until after my birthday (March 2022). So, to this date my car is still at the dealership and Chrysler star team has no clue what is wrong with this car. I'm still paying a car note, insurance, and renewing the license plate for this car every year and moth. Chrysler knows that there is an issue with the 3. 6l pentastar engine. No one wants to help me in this situation, but all parties involved wants my money but no real solution(s). I need someone that's going to advocate for me on my behalf. I just want Chrysler at this point to just put a new engine in the dang car and cover the charges at their expense for their defective engine. Chrysler seriously knows what's going. As long as my car has been at this dealership for over a year, how could the engineers who designed this engine not know what's wrong with? this car has very low miles to be 8yrs old with major issue. And fca doesn't want to admit to this engine (3. 6l pentastar) being a defective engine. Look at the class action lawsuits pertaining to this. Please sir / MA'am help me make sense of this. Thank you.
I was driving down the road and my vehicle died. Now it does every time I come to a complete stop. The steering makes a clicking noise when I turn.
There is a recall on this car but Chrysler will not cover repairs be cause it was in an accident car is in very good condition. It is a rebuilt salvage and the registration is in CT. I think they are responsible for repairs because air bag was never deployed on pass side. Far right front and undercarriage on lncident report only. Also control modules for cruise control will not allow you to turn it off short circuit in vehicle wiring . If a rebuilt salvage can be sold to me by a dealer that is unsafe why can't Chrysler stand behind there recalls. Oh the car is in very good condition an I love it. Can you help me please.
I replace the battery cuz it seem that it wagong bad dint want to start the car and after running it for a few minutes whit a new battery it did the same the remote start was working then it just stop my reverse camara also stop working my radio shuts down when I turn the steering wheel and it drains on the battery fast.

Fuel canister recall # ub4.
Car shut off in the middle of highway, stalling, I was almost hit from behind. Now it won't even start. Every issue is related to the fuel issue recall. But my because my VIN isn't included, I have to deal with this. You guys aren't perfect and missed adding my car to the recall.
My 2005 Chrysler 300 has been having an issue with the fuel tank. When you get fuel in it then it won’t stay started. It keeps stalling out repeatedly. It also stalls out randomly under 25mph. Both are dangerous as it may cause you to get t-boned leaving gas station as it repeatedly stalls. Also it stalled out on the freeway on-ramp under 25mph. This is also dangerous as you lose your steering at the same time. Someone could have been injured or killed. And Chrysler needs to take this more seriously than they did just with the 2005 300c. It’s happening to more models of that year as well. Their offered remedy was telling me not to fuel it all the way up anymore past 3/4 of a tank. A dealership confirmed it needs a full fuel tank replacement and has had it since memorial day. They still have it currently. Chrysler told me and the dealership I’m on my own after treating me horribly most of the time on the phone calls with customer care center as I was jumping through hoops for them over and over for around 2 months. Whenever I get someone kind and helpful they won’t let me speak to them again. I have this all written down. And will get the estimate when I get my car back. But I don’t have $2800 ($2000 alone is just the fuel tank) to fix this on my own. Especially not when there is a known issue. Fuel tanks just don’t break and need full replacement as a common issue in vehicles. But Chrysler says my vehicle is too old. Which they knew the year of my vehicle when I called in the first place. And they know there is a known issue which is why they have lifetime fuel tank replacements on others of the same year. It’s too bad they weren’t pushed to do a total recall rather than just a safety bulletin. It left the rest of us that end up having issues with the fuel tanks in danger. It’s not just coincidental. It’s been acting up for awhile and I couldn’t find anyone that had ever heard of this until the Chrysler forums. It got worse in 2020 to present. Thank you.
Car stalled while driving and one time after refiring the engine, the shifting of gears was awkward. Dealer changed oil pressure sensor. Did not help.
Everytime. I feel my Chrysler 300 up. It shuts off ,stalls for about 10 minutes. Then everything is normal. Note. This is very dangerous could be just driving and it'll just shut off. Can you cause an accident? this is happening to me at least six to eight times so far beginning in January.
Tl- the contact's wife owns a 2011 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at a low rate of speed, the steering wheel became stiff and hard to steer without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective power steering module; the part was replaced. Despite the vehicle being repaired, the failure persisted. . The contact's wife also stated that the check engine light had illuminated on the vehicle and that upon inspection, the oil appeared to be in good standing. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that an engine gasket and an engine oil cooler needed to be replaced. The contact's wife notified the manufacturer of the failure who had referred her to a local dealer to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 130,220.
