The transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring hook on about 28,800 of the above vehicle broke. A broken interlock return spring hook will result in the inability to move the gear shift lever out of the park position. There is a recall for customer satisfaction notification k39 transmission shifter interlock lever for the following vehicle which is the same as mine but the "lx": 2005 - 2007 (lx) Dodge charger, magnum and Chrysler 300. Why does the same problem, with the same automobile, with the same year does not apply to a "sl"? how much do I have to spend to repair a manufacturing malfunction for something that should be a recall. I parked my car and on my way to work I could not move the gear, it stuck to p.

When accelerating on a freeway ramp and also from a stop the transmission has failed to change gears until the brakes were applied. It has happened once in each situation. Having to apply the brakes when accelerating to join freeway traffic is not a good thing. In both cases a turn was involved, turning on to the ramp (left) and turning onto another street, also turning left. In neither case was it a "hard" acceleration.

The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 300. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v240000 (power train), but the dealer was unable to supply the parts for months. While waiting for the parts to repair the vehicle, the gears failed to stay in gear and the contact constantly had to apply the emergency brake to ensure that the vehicle would not roll without warning. The contact experienced the failure with the gear being placed in drive, park, or reverse and it was not fully in gear. The contact had to quickly maneuver the gear in place and apply the emergency brake. The dealer was notified of the failure for months, but the part was unavailable. The contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine when the dealer would be able to repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
My vehicle for the past 2 year have a shifting problem. I can't get it into gear and go over 28 mph. I had it checked out I was told nothing was wrong. The second time I was involve into a accident because tea went from 50 mph to 30 mph back to 50 mph to a barricade on the hway. My insurance cover the repairs and a week later still the same problem. I took it to the transmission shop and mechanic said it's not a transmission problem he believe it a sensor problem. I took it to Chrysler and they told me I just needed new brakes. I ship it from hawaii to new york and the mechanic replace the sensor it was fine for a week. I drove it to va for mandatory training and it completely die on me back to driving under 28 mph. My car is stationary in a residential nieghborhood in va because it will not shift into gear and I don't know what's wrong.
I rented a car from fox car rental and I was renting 2016 Chrysler 300 my dream car has I was driving turned right on a residential street the rear shift by it self the nob turned when I pressed on the breaks I got real scared and I went back to the car rental and told the manger that this car that is a 2016 car they just received needed to be returned to the dealer cause it malfunction when I press the breaks the nob of the 2016 Chrysler 300 gear shift changed gear on its own. I was only going 5mph that is very dangerous especially if you are driving in a down stiff road or street I do not think the nob gear does not lock so it changed rear on its own when you do a sudden break.

Brand new 2014 Chrysler 300 s purchased 12/5/2014 . 595 miles on odo today, 1/17/2015. Driving home today I noticed a split second surge, like the brakes grabbed, like the car lurched. Shortly after I noticed the check engine light was illuminated. Pulled over and shut/started the engine. Check engine still there. Started out from the curb, and the engine revved to approx. 3000 but the car barely moved, the transmission lagged relative to engine speed. [I. E. Not engaging or slipping]. Gradually it picked up speed. Stopped again same thing. Tried to shift to sport mode with out success. . . . No sport mode, so paddle shifters also failed . I could shift to p,r,n,d. Not sport mode. A short while after I was home, I started the car, check engine still lit. While still parked now I could shift to sport mode. Drove a short distance in drive, but eco not showing in infomat display. Sport mode/paddle shifters now were working but would not shift to 8th gear. Prior to this event, and hours before it took place. . . . . I paired my cell phone and it automatically loaded all my contacts. I used both contacts and voice recognition to make calls no problems. So it was working great earlier in the day. When the transmission problem took place [explained above] I tried to make a call, and the screen showed "no phone connected". . Everything including contacts evaporated like I never paired the cell. I would think both problems are connected.

After my car had been sitting at work for about 10 hours, I found that I was unable to get my car out of park. The shifter was locked up, and would not move into gear. I googled the issue, and found that there was an under designed plastic piece in the shifter assembly located under the shift knob that was known to break and cause this issue. I had to tear apart my center console and use a screw driver to manually pull on a cable in order to unlock the shifter and allow me to get out of park. Had I not had the correct tools in my vehicle, I would have been stuck. I had the part replaced, but experienced a second occurrence about 4 months later. This time I found that my car was stuck in gear. I was freely able to move between drive, neutral, and reverse, but was unable to move the shifter into park. To add to the head ache, because the touring edition has a slap stick function (similar to a manual transmission car), putting the vehicle in gear does not cause the transmission to lock up. This fact, compounded by the fact that the parking brake did not supply sufficient stopping power to hold the car at a standstill on even a mild grade slope, I was unable to secure the vehicle from rolling away unless on a completely flat surface. I had to place wood blocks under the wheels to avoid the car from rolling away.

Car was stuck in park. Could not move gear shift out of park position. I was in a unsafe area and had no way home. Luckily I was able to get in touch with someone after being stranded for 2 hours. I did some research on the internet and found hundreds of complaint articles for same probem with same make and model. Found a customer satifaction notification k39 on internet. Called the number to Chrysler group recall asssitance center listed in the notification only to be told that even though the letter addressed 2005 Chrysler 300s my VIN did not apply. Also called the local dealership, same answer, cant help me unless I pay. Now I have no transportation to work or otherwise and have to pay to get vehicle towed and find a mechanic that will fix the problem for $$. This seems to be a huge problem for Chrysler/Dodge owners and due to notification they are quite aware. Very unsafe to leave people, children stranded due to this faulty plastic transmission gear shift lever interloc return spring hook.

I was driving as usual, went to my grandmothers house. Stayed about 20 minutes. When I left I started the car, went to put it in gear and nothing . It would not come out of gear. I had it towed Monday and the tow truck driver informed me there had been a recall in the gear shift on other year Chrysler 300. I called a Chrysler dealership and they told me that yes it had been a recall on that particular part but not on my yr vehicle which is a 2005. If its a problem in other yr 300's then why not mine. Obviously it can happen to any year if its already had a recall on other year and the same car. They need to do a recall on all. I looked it up and there were alot of people who this has happened to and unexpected. My mechanic said when he took out the part, springs and pieces fell out the open part in the bottom of the part that he removed. I was told to save my receipt and if they do decide to recall, I can get a refund.

I parked my 2006 Chrysler 300 in my garage on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, I could not take gear out of the park position. I had to pay $99. 00 for towing to dealership and $349. 00 to replace gear shift selector assembly.
The car will turn on and when in park will not switch out of gear. Turned the car off and on several times and still would not change gears.
I parked my 2006 Chrysler 300 at a local rink to pick up my daughter. When we were back and turned on the engine, the gear shift locked at "park" position and would not change gears. The car was towed to the dealer, and they changed the whole gear shift selector assembly. It cost me $305 not including the towing fee.
2007 Chrysler 300 - transmission fell apart at 28,000 miles, defective transmission plug I'd at 41,000 miles. I was driving on the highway in traffic moving at 65 miles phr- vehicle just started slowing down and would not go in gear. When I got it to the dealer they initially didn't want to fix until they realized I was still cover by initial & extended warranties. This is the 1st new vehicle I have ever purchased & I am afraid to drive it the 20 miles back and forth to work or visit my family in nc. I am sure I am not the only person this has happened too. I purchased the vehicle Feb 07 & since then been deployed 15 months, so the car was only used 21 months.
2006 Chrysler 300 limited rwd - could not put car into drive. Last use was fine, but went to use car next day and couldn't move shifter into drive. Putting foot on brake allowed shift handle it to move right further but not down to next gear (reverse). Rocking car did nothing. Researched on internet and found reference to shifter pink plastic piece breaks off which attached to return spring. Called dealer - told need to have it towed in and replace shifter - they're just starting to see this problem more frequently. Removed silver shifter trim bezel, disconnected small cable from key switch interlock, then rotated pink plastic piece under the front of the shifter (not the pink plastic tab on the side of the shifter) so I could put car in neutral and use the car and avoid the hassle and embarrassment of towing. Drove car to dealer the next day. They replaced the shifter - about a $500 job but given a goodwill exchange so it cost $100. Since I live in the phoenix metro area (read hot - hot - hot) - this will happen again in another 3 years because the same cheap replacement part was installed. Stevie wonder could see this is an outright designed in defect - using some cheap pink plastic part in a high use area. There supposedly is a metal replacement part to fix this but you need to tear apart the car and the shifter assembly to replace it. You need to remove a bunch of trim panels and bust a knuckle or two to get the shifter out. I would have had it out in about 10 minutes if they hadn't molded the "large" base plate as part of the shifter which makes the small shifter assembly twice the size of the opening.
The gear shift gets stuck in park position. We have to insert a ink pen or screw driver inside the panel in order to get it another gear. This problem started in 2006 but it keeps getting worse. Yes, the vehicle is stationary when this happens.
