Gear shift stuck in park consistent with hundreds of other Chrysler 300 owners.
The shifter is stuck in park? this started off happening on occasion. But now has progressed to almost a permanent situation. This causes a hazard because in order to not being able to avoid being stranded. I have no choice but to leave the vehicle in neutral and put on the parking brake. Running the risk of the car rolling and causing a collision. Crysler needs to address this situation. As I'm aware that it's a defective plastic part causing this problem. It is also a problem that spans for several years of this shifting system.

The transmission shifter lever was stuck in park and would not move. The dealer says I need a new shifter. This problem seems identical to recall k39 transmission shifter interlock lever but for some reason my car is not included in the recal. I suspect this is an oversight. I will updload the documentation from the dealer when I get it but at the moment the part is on back order.
I was driving my lights started flickering inside and out. I pulled over turned car off then back on and it was completely dead. Had it jump started and then push the gas and car wouldnt move. The it jumped into gear real hard and has been stuck in 2nd gear ever since.
The transmission went out. It was fine then then lights started flickering inside and out and then when I turned the car off and tried to turn it back on it was completely dead. No lights or power at all. Had to get a jump start. Then when I tried to go it was revving up but wouldnt move and then all of a sudden jumped into gear real hard. It had significant loss of power and would get up and go. It's real slow from the start and it dangerous driving it because it will just rev up and not move then jump into gear very hard. It has almost thrown my car into the back of other cars because it jumps so bad I to gear all of a sudden. Then when you try to get out of the way of another car coming g it sometimes barely moves and it very dangerous. It has been stuck in 2nd gear ever since. It had a lot of loss of power. I had the transmission replace 2 times and both including the original are all stuck in 2nd gear. Also when I turn the car it makes a loud popping cracking sound by the wheels. Like it's going to break. Also going over speed bumps it's really loud and squeaky.
Gear shift stuck in park wont shift, locked up in park position also while driving the acelerator rises to show a excellerate speed then goes quickly back down to the speed you were traveling going 55 and guage quckly rises to 65 or 70 and drops to 55 again within seconds without going any faster than 55.
On 5-01-16, while driving, heard a "thump" type noise in my right rear. This also activated my check engine light. Also I noted significant reduction in ability to accelerate, as in the car was stuck in a higher gear. Drove straight to my local mechanic and he did a obd ll test. A p1dc7-00 code came back.

Shifter stuck in park.
I feel the gear selector on my 2014 Chrysler 300 is vague, confusing, and dangerous. It is electronic and pivots instead of moving one spot for each gear selection. If you park and attempt to shift from drive to park sometimes it makes it and sometimes it ends up in reverse. When this happens the engine does not turn off when you push the stop button and as you step out the car takes off backwards. Also when shifting from park to drive sometimes it goes past drive and into low, so I ended up driving for a time stuck in low gear and not knowing until you go to slow or stop and it feels like the brakes are stuck on so you start looking for the reason. I have hated this car almost since I leased it in December of 2014. I feel with the lack of a switch key to turn the engine on and off, and this vague gear selector this group of vehicles is an accident waiting to happen. I have tried to trade it in but I still have 13 months left and can do nothing. Please look into this. . . Thank you.

I was going 30mph when I noticed my radio turned off, few seconds later center console went off, afterwards all the warning lights appeared on my instrument panel. The lights were going on and off the wind shield wipers turned on. 10 seconds later I lost brake control and the vehicle was stuck on the drive gear, power steering was off as well. I ran through a red light I managed to use the emergency break to stop, once I was stopped the car was still stuck on drive, the engine was shaking and making noise it took 30 mins for the engine to turn off. The vehicle interior and exterior lights were going crazy. The car got towed now the dealer is charging me 1,020 to replace the alternator and battery. That's how Chrysler thanks me for almost crashing.
I parked the car in the garage and when I tried to back out the car, the gear was stuck in park. The manual said to remove and the small storage bin and press the pink tab. Nothing happened. I called aaa towing and they came out. He removed the entire top portion around the gear shift and said to release the gear shift use your finger along the cable and push the first thing you feel. It worked and each time I remove from park, I have to run my finger along the cable and push the button. He said that a pink $14 part is defective and needs to be replaced. I called the Chrysler dealer and they quoted me $450 to repair. I called my auto shop in la quinta and they quoted $120. Everyone said that this occurs all the time on the Chrysler 300.
Tried to leave work and gear shift stuck in park. Got a ride home and googled finding multiple complaints. Found k39 recall and called the recall center. They said my VIN was not included and I asked why? it's the same problem and the same make and model covered under k39. They told me there was nothing they could do. What a crock! not buying a Chrysler ever again.

Submission from re recall k39 and exclusions. The consumer stated he experienced the exact problem that was addressed in the recall where the gear was stuck in park. I have a 2007 Chrysler 300, went ou this am to go to work and the gear shift is stuck in park. Had to get a ride into work. Got on line and found pages of this same problem on multiple cars from Chrysler. Saw the k39 notification form called Chrysler, my VIN is not listed, they can't help me out. Per other people will cost $300-600. 00 to fix out of my pocket. This is a defective part and needs to be recalled on any vehicle it affects. Called the parts dept. At Chrysler the part is 85 cents. But the dealer will charge you an arm and a leg for the labor to do it. This is ridiculous, I'm disgusted with Chrysler right now. They need to step up and do the right thing, their customer value has gone out the window. I will not be buying any more cars from them in the future.
