At around 106k, a valve seat broke and dropped into a cylinder chamber, damaging the cylinder. The engine is a complete loss. No compression in one cylinder and 50 lbs difference in compression in remaining seven cylinders. The car had recently been driven and parked in a garage. About ten minutes later it was started, backfired and failed to idle. A scope detected at least one cylinder was damaged. Mechanic assessment: need a complete new engine.

I was going to check the oil level when the top of the dipstick came off in my hand. It is made of plastic. ; I was opening the drivers door, the handle came halfway off, subsequently all handles have done the same thing. The washer fluid does not spray. These problems all happened in the past 3 or 4 years. The vehicle was stationary for these problems. While turning, the steering wheel would not continue too turn, heard a " thunk", finally turned but the turn signal mechanism does not work now.

The cylinder valve seat fell off the cylinder head, then fell down into the piston causing damage to the valves and piston thus the only repair possible is to replace the engine. Not sure when this happened because there were no warning signs.
While driving at highway speed engine and lights and all power equip shuts down like turning off the ignition. Lights also shut off! usually can shift to neutral and restart engine. Sometimes it takes several tries before it keeps running. Dealer cannot find problem. No error codes stored. Afraid I will be run over on freeway!happens at different speeds at anytime. Need help!.

It dropped the #7 valve seat and never overheated. The vehicle ran fine, until I got back in the next day and started it. It immediately happened at that time. This is a common problem with this engine, and to fix costs upwards of $8000.

The Chrysler start with no problem drive around stop park and get out the car. Return in a minute no crank start wait 15 or 20 minute the car will start. This problem accured 2 or 3 times a day after I park. Fuses ok, new starter, new battery, new tranmission nothing display on dishbroad or diagnostic machine several machanic unable to determent the problem no reading the car is ok but car contiue not to crank start I only have less than 50,000 miles after I was told that I needed a new transmission from a bronx new york dealership?.
While driving down road engine just stops running as if ignition was turned off! radio stays on. Shift to neutral and able to restart it if not run over by then! very bad safety problem! has happened multiple times. No pattern that I can tell.
Takata recall still waiting on parts.
There is a recall on my car for alternators failing/over heating effecting circuitry, that can stop the car while in motion or end up in flames. I fill my car up at gas station and while driving my car will completely cut off out of nowhere.
After filling fuel tank in a gas station and starting warm engine the engine died after traveling approximately 300 feet while making a turn. Very dangerous situation. Engine re-started but continued to die on and off for approximately 2 miles. Have not driven car since.
Tamara recall engine has stopped several times while I have been driving it and some while stopped at a red light. The power steering stops and become difficult to steer and I get afraid until I can fight it and stop and restart the engine. Have not taken it in for repair yet.
Dropped intake valve seats on this hemi engine. Based on my research, this is a known problem on the hemi engines from this time period. Stopped at the store for 20 minutes, came out and tried to start the engine and all I heard was metal on metal as the engine tried to turn over. Engine needs to be rebuilt or need to buy another rebuilt engine.
Shut off at anytime, like driving slow and everytime I hit the corner of my block same spot always shut off . Once in the freeway was scarry also motor would shake, one day drive good next would be bad, took it to many places no one can pin point problem, spent lots of money in parts and never got problem fixed until moter gave out with cylinder damage at 90000 miles . Always keep it maintenance good disapointed would not buy Chrysler anymore before this had a new yorker that cought on fire electrical issue.
Dropped valve seat at 72k miles. All maintainance done on time. One day the car just wouldn't start, took it to the shop, found a drop valve on cylinder 5.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle staled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure was unable to be determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. The VIN was not available.
Stopped for gas. When I tried to start the car, it would not start. I had it towed home. Then had it towed to mechanic. I was told the engine was shot. The car has approximately 56,000 miles on it.
My car's 96,000 mile engine suddenly blew a #6 cylinder soon after I drove from work. I have an excellent service history. Never had any warning or issues. Now I'm told to pay 6500 for another engine with more miles. My research shows this an ongoing issue with Chrysler hemi engines. My next step is to contact my congressman and senator. Why has Chrysler been held accountable?.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. After driving 55 mph and parking the vehicle, it failed to restart. Once the vehicle restarted, the engine idled low and the accelerator pedal had to be depressed in order to keep the engine running. The manufacturer was notified. The contact had the vehicle towed home. The contact received information from the independent mechanic who stated that there was a piece of piston that fractured and was rattling around in the combustion chamber. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 170,342.
The frontend has death wobble going on the highway more than 65mph I've had the whole front end replaced without solving the problem, the motor also was replaced due to one of the cylinder going right threw the motor and it happened again after motor over heated a year later.
While on a curvy road after dark, at 45 mph, the electrical system shut down, dash lights flashed and went off, engine died. 40 mph on a curvy road with no lights. After 20 seconds it all came back on. Had no problems for 3 months. Electrical system has momentarily shut down on 4 other occasions since then. On 12/08/15 my wife was in line at the dandridge elementary school picking up my grandson. While in car pickup line with the transmission in drive, the dash lights came on, the vehicle accelerated (surged forward) then died. Engine died 5 times before she could get it home. This would be called a near miss accident in a workplace setting. Car is operating normally at this time. I held an ase master technician certification and in my opinion it is a dangerous electrical condition. I realize that someone must die in order to get this problem fixed and that is a shame.
12/5/2015 went to the market, 2 miles from home. Went into the store for approx. 15 minutes. When I returned to car to start is wouldn't start, not a battery problem. Couldn't move car so had it towed to dealership, mcpeeks Dodge of anaheim. Service writer told us that the noise in the engine was two valve seats dropped into the engine causing cylinder head and bore damage. We have always had our car service by dealer when we needed oil change, tune up or whatever was necessary for car. We keep car in garage and drive at posted speed and always keep our vehicle in new condition. My husband and I are in our seventies so we aren't reckless with our vehicles. There were no warning signs of any engine trouble and the service writer couldn't believe what had happened with only 44,612 miles on a 2007 vehicle which we bought new in 2007. We had to pay $8749. 65 for a new engine which is only guaranteed for 3 yrs or 70,000 miles. We only drive about 5,000 miles a year. So this means if this problem should happen again I would have only put 15,000 miles on my car in three years. This is totally wrong. After reviewing associated problems on the internet I find that Chrysler has engine problems with 2006, 2007 vehicles. . . Engine goes out at around 70,000 miles, ours at 44,612. We paid $42,000 for the car new in 2007. Chrysler should pay for our problem since they knew there were problems with 300, 300c engines. We are out the towing to the dealership and the repair using a small savings we have as a retired couple. A seven year old car with 44,000 miles should have a engine last longer. As noted the car was stopped and parked at a supermarket for no more than 15 minutes and did not demonstrate any engine problems prior to this problem drove beautifully. We have the bill, which has been paid by us. I'm not sure how to download, but I could fax if contacted.
Took vehicle to barber shop anti skid light came on without a wet or slick rd condition. . Took car to mechanic to have it checked out . Pulled into garage parking car shook violently and shut off. Would not crank. . The mechanic opened the vehicle up timing chain was intact ,found the camshaft broke.
Car dies after fueling. It will sputter then die, it will also die while coming to a stop. After refueling it sputters and dies at gas station but it can happen within the next couple of miles. It will die while pulling out in traffic and extremely dangerous. Reading on line this is a common problem and no one can figure it out. It also will not always go back into gear after it dies.
Drove my car to work in the morning with no problems. After work I started the car and could not shift the gear out of park. I tried several times, turning the car off and on etc. But it would not move. Called the repair shop. They came and removed the shifter assembly to get it to the shop and said they had to replace the entire shift assembly because a small plastic piece was broken inside and they couldn't just replace the piece, it had to be the entire assembly for the cost of $300. 00. No warnings or other issues. After looking the problem up on the internet, seems to be a very common problem with this car make and model. I have also had trouble with this car several times just shutting down or almost shutting off (jerks like you are hit and seems like it is shutting down but then returns to normal) while sitting at a light or a stop sign. Usually it will start back up quickly but it is very dangerous in traffic and I have almost been rear ended 2 times because of it. I took it to the dealership 2 different times complaining about this issue, but they said they couldn't find anything wrong and that the computer system didn't show any problems.
I was driving the car from work I made a left turn onto the street that leads me to my house the vehicle stopped I tried to make it start back up nothing happened. I called the tow place to have it towed to Chrysler they took a look at it the next day saying the engine has seized it needs a new engine.
Recalled ignition had become locked in "off" and "accessory" position. Dealer had to take ignition apart in order to get the key fob released from its locked position. Vehicle has sat on dealership lot since 7/6/2015, waiting for replacement ignition that has been released since 8/26/15, but was originally to be released 7/28/15.

Filled the car with gas and the car died within 5 minutes of the gas station. Restarted the car and had the same thing happen two more times. This has since happened after ever fill up since. We bought this vehicle may 1st 2015. The issues with it dying started happening the very first fill up. We just figured it was a vapor lock but after reading the compliants, oviously not. This needs to be recalled as someone is going to hurt.
Car had been running fine. All routine mataniance done regularly. Came home Tuesday night. Attempted to start car next morning would crank but not turn over. Car was towed to shop and mechanic advised no compression on #3 cylinder. Engine needs to be rebuilt. How can a car run fine one day and with no warning indicator alerts and no trouble running need a new engine the next? mechanic states possible valve spring came apart.
After refueling, engine stops running at low speed or idle. Engine restarts immediately. After several miles and 4 or 5 restarts engine runs smoothly. Dangerous because of loss of acceleration, steering and braking.
2006 Chrysler 300c - after fueling up got about 1/2mile down the road engine just cut out (not electrical as I didn't loose dash lights) just like the engine stopped for a few seconds and came back on. Thought it was a fluke and kept going and it happened again twice, turned around and took the car home happened a couple more times while trying to get home. Haven't driven the car since and that was 5 days ago.
Vehicle started randomly shutting off primarily at stops and gradually became more frequent to shutting off while driving and shifting backwards.
I have a 2006 Chrysler 300c that recently broke down. When I took it to the dealership for repairs they said that valve seat deteriorated and dropped on the piston. They said it had a grenade effect and sent metal everywhere, which jammed metal inside piston. I was told that I need a new engine which would cost me $3,500 for a used engine and $5,000 for a new engine with $2,200 labor costs. I did some research and have found that there are numerous people that have experienced the same issue. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. When the contact attempted to start the ignition, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who stated that the engine piston exploded and extensively damaged the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 84,320.
I drove my 2006 Chrysler 300c hemi with my soon to be wife and 4 year old daughter to go food shopping and was low on gas after shopping I filled the tank up at a chevron station and as I tried to pull out of the station it died. It tool 3 tries and it started again then on the freeway as I was changing lanes it died again in the middle of traffic and I was scared to death for the safety of my fiance and small child I coasted to a stop in the middle lane because I couldn't get over either way with cars behind me honking I calmly tried to start the car and on the 3rd try it started and got us back to martinez. It died twice more at stop signs and a light. Very dangerious. I bought the car a week ago because my fiancé is 6 months pregnant. And I wanted her to have a 4 door to make it easy on her with the kids.
