36 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 12/14/2012

Engine stalls has occurred multiple times. Been in shop all 6 times. In there today. Stalled as I was driving at 60 miles per hour. I had no control over steering or anything. Just had to coast with emergency flashers on till it came to a stop, I also had just filled with gas each time it has stalled.

37 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 11/22/2012

Trouble with engine stalling. It happens after the car is driven for a whole or filled full with gas. I have been driving several times in the middle of traffic and the car turns off. Sometimes it will immediately restart and other times it takes several attempts to restart it. When it stalls out, the automatic steering also locks up causing the car to be difficult to maneuver. This has occurred several times not just once. . . . One time was after being on interstate for a couple hours, as soon as we pulled off the car kept cutting off. It has been cared for and is properly maintenance. On some occasions, I have even had to disconnect the battery to reset the computer for it to start. The problem has become more frequent other the months.

38 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 11/18/2012

I was turning right at a stop light, immediately following a gas tank fill, when the engine stalled and power steering and brakes failed. The engine continued to stall during deceleration or when stopped for the next 30 miles.

39 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Many multiple incidents - after filling fuel tank, engine will stall multiple times shortly afterwards and is difficult to re-start. This happens even if care is taken to avoid "topping off" tank. At times the engine has even stalled during fueling once tank is near full, before pump clicks off. Must drive with gas cap removed for it to start and run at all for many miles before it behaves normally again, and even with gas cap removed it still will come near stalling at times.

40 Engine Stall problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/24/2012

Engine stalled at slow speed immediately after filling up with gas. Engine was somewhat difficult to restart because it was flooded. Engine stalling happened at least five times before enough gas was burned off to prevent the condtion. Numerous reports on the internet indicate this is a common problem and happens when raw fuel from the evaporative system is ingested through the throttle body. The evaporative system should only convey fumes but a failure allows it to carry raw fuel to the throttle body. This condition has the potential to be very dangerous. Given the number of complaints a safety recall should be instigated to ensure that raw fuel can never reach the throttle body via the evaporative system.

41 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/19/2012

After filling up with fuel while stopped at a traffic light the engine stalled. After restarting and proceeding the engine stalled again while traveling at 15-20 mph. This has happened several times since always after refueling.

42 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Engine stalls after filling the tank. On at least four occasions vehicle would stall within 20 miles of completely filling tank. After second incident vehicle taken to Chrysler dealer for a tune-up, however problem persisted. This occurred once while entering a public parking lot with loss of power steering and brakes fortunately the car at low speed and rolled to a stop before striking anything. On another occasion this happened while pulling away from a traffic light in heavy traffic nearly causing the vehicle to be struck from behind. Temporary fix is to no longer completely fill the tank, guessing at about 3/4 tank to stop fueling. Partially filling the tank is not a proper solution. This is a recurring problem and needs to be investigated and recalled.

43 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 05/16/2012

After refueling tank I drove away from the pumps and onto the roadway, during acceleration to speed limit (50mph), at 25mph the engine stalled, with traffic quickly approaching I might add, and left me coasting. I was able to pull off to the side of the road thankfully, at which time I had to attempt a restart 3 times before it did start, when it started I had no issues for a few months. This exact situation happened to me every other month for a year until I learned to not fuel the vehicle to the top. It is a considerable inconvenience to not be able to fill the car to its capacity, especially on long trips. I am just afraid that this will happen, at any time, with no warning, quite an uncomfortable feeling actually. I hope for a satisfactory resolution to this issue. Thank you.

44 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 04/15/2012

After refueling, my Chrysler 300srt 2006 6. 1 liter v-8 engine stalled while traveling through town. It restarted quickly and I continued my travel. Within 1 mile, the vehicle stalled again and restarted quickly. I have not had any other incident as of 5/5/13. I am concerned after reading an article in the paper regarding this problem with other Chrysler products of the same year and similar models. I travel the interstates often and refuel during my travel and I am extremely concerned that my car will stall on the interstate while traveling 65 mph surrounded by other cars. I have reported this problem to my Chrysler dealer and understand there is an ongoing investigation. I can only pray that the underlying problem is discovered quickly before there are any crashes with or without injuries. Is there anything else I need to do?.

45 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 04/11/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. The contact stated that while driving any speed or coming to a stop, the engine would stall in a jerking motion. The vehicle restarted and resumed normally. The failure recurred after the vehicle was refueled and most recently, the engine warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer numerous times and they were unable to duplicate or locate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

46 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

After filling the gas tank the vehicle stalls periodically. The issue has become worst over time. The last time my son was driving with me in the car and stall in the middle of the highway. He was 16 and still in the learning stage of driving. The time before we were pulling out of a gas station as we were entering traffic the engine stalled. Lucky we were not involve in an incident.

47 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 01/03/2012

Vehicle stalled after refueling. Filling the gas tank to full without 'topping off' will cause the car's engine to stall without any prior warning. No dtcs/miles are set. Can be restarted with some difficulty. The stall will occur at any engine/vehicle speed and will happen within the first 5 minutes of driving the car after refueling. The problem can be avoided by not filling the tank past 3/4 full. Have tested this 'work-around' at the same gas station & pump.

48 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 12/06/2011

After filling tank with gas the car stalls a few times once you start driving away. It can also happen if you park your car after filliing with a full tank. It seems you must gun the engine to prevent the stalling. It happens intermintently. It just happened 2 fill ups in a row and sometimes it could be months before it happens again. At first I thought it was bad gas but this happens to frequently. What is causing this problem? my car has been maintained extremely well. I went to my dealer and they had no recall or knew nothing about the problem.

49 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

After refueling engine stalled. Hard restart in busy traffic. Problem continues today.

50 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/20/2011

Engine stalls at least once after refueling. The dealer replaced the fuel-line purge valve last year, but it didn't fix the problem. I was told on several occasions that it was bad gas that was causing the problem, but I've tried using several brands of fuel without any luck. I don't drive the vehicle that much, but I have had a few near accidents because the engine accelerates before shutting off.

51 Engine Stall problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 08/25/2011

Engine stalls after filling up the gas tank. Currently I can not fill up the gas tank and if I do the engine will stall and die. Last occurrence I was decelerating due to traffic to around 30-35 mph. The engine died during the deceleration. The traffic had picked up to 50-55 mph and I could not start the car so I had to pull off the road. If this had been in a location that I could not pull off the road I could have been in a serious accident. To compound the issue I can not go from neutral start the car and then into drive. The transmission will not shift into drive. I have to pull over and go into park before drive to get it to work.

52 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 07/12/2011

After filling my gasoline tank and driving away the engine quit running while driving down the city street or highway. While still rolling forward I put the car in neutral and attempted to restart the engine. I always succeeded in restarting the car while it was rolling forward. However, the stalling would repeat itself two to three more times before the car stopped doing this. I reported this to my dealership who said they knew nothing about this problem and had no solutions. After months of repeated experiencing this problem I started to fill my tank only to about 3/4th full and the stalling was solved. However, after hitting some rough road after a 3/4th filling (the gasoline got sloshed about, I am sure),the engine stalled on me. On June 12, 2012 I asked the dealership, overland park Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, in overland park, KS to start replacing gasoline tank parts. They installed a 4891427ab detector-natural vacuum detecti. . . . . , a solenoid-proportional purge and a canister-vapor. (their invoice #429537). This did not solve the stalling problem. On March 26, 2013 I finally gave up on the problem and asked opjcd to replace the saddle-bag gasoline tanks. Their invoice 452851 covered the installation of a 68051891 aa tank-fuel, o-ring-fuel pump and level unit. With three complete gasoline tank fill up's I have had no problems with stalling. I am writing to you after reading, in this mornings newspaper, about similar problems being looked into by your agency and I wanted to report what happened to me and what I did about it. Opjcd service man told me they would reimburse me for my expenses if a recall was made on my car. I paid a total of $1,453. 90 to get my 2006 Chrysler 300c, I hope, fixed. Thank you.

53 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 07/05/2011

Most of the time, the engine will stall at a stop with all gauges dropping to zero. This also happens when the car is moving down the roadway. Engine does not start smoothly. Most times it takes at least two attempts to start it. Sometimes upon restart the gauges remain at zero. Upon start, engine will run for a brief time and will run maybe 1 block or so before stalling again. It will run without incident until the next episode. There may be a spread of 3 to 4 weeks between incidents. Sometimes the engine speed jumps up without accelerator input making the car leap forward. This has happened once to me. Sometimes when the engine is restarted and put into gear, the transmission does not engage immediately, but after a very brief delay causing a "jump" into gear when it does engage. The esp bas light comes on a majority of the time this happens. Sometimes the gauges all drop to zero while the car is running. Almost always, I can feel in the running of the engine that something is not quite (almost imperceptive missing) right before this happens. I took the car to a Chrysler dealership immediately after this happened and asked them to read the codes. They told me many codes had been recorded.

54 Engine Stall problem of the 2007 Chrysler 300C

55 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 02/16/2011

The first time I had this problem, I filled up my car after a trip, and upon leaving the gas station my engine stalled and the car would not come back on. I could not get the car to crank and when the engine did come on once the rpms would not settle and they kept dipping to almost zero before the engine cut off. I had the car towed to a repair shop where they were unable to fix the issue. I've had this happen about five times and I finally had one repair shop tell me to not fill my gas tank up all the way and it should prevent the cut offs. I then failed an emissions test and had to have my gas cap replaced. I thought that this had solved the problem so I tried to fill the tank up all the way again and it immediately cut off after starting it up. I was able to rev the engine and use up some of the gas and managed to get the car home with the rpms constantly dipping almost to zero. The car cut out at a stop light and I then had to get it started again after sitting in the intersection stalled. I've had my car inspected by two Chrysler dealers, a few independent repair shops, and also a Nissan dealer where I know the head mechanic. The only answers I've gotten were that it is a faulty O2 sensor and needs a new gas tank.

56 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/21/2010

Vehicle has had 3 incidents of engine stalling. 1st was early morning after being driven only . 7 miles. Next was 11/5/2013 after filling up on way home. Car died at stop sign. Next was 11/6/2013 after being driven less then a mile. Car restarted after each incident.

57 Engine Stall problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 06/04/2010

Engine stalling after fueling. We first suspected bad fuel, but soon learned we were not alone in this issue. We waited years for the local dealer to finally admit to a problem with the fuel tank rollover valve. Chrysler then issued a lifetime warranty on the tank. As soon as the lifetime warranty on the tank was issued we took the vehicle to our local Chrysler dealer and was told we were # 6 on the list waiting on tanks that are on back order. I checked status this past week and the dealer said he now has a stack of back orders for these tanks. What good is the lifetime warranty if the company is unable to provide parts support. We really enjoy this auto but the stalling is getting more common and we feel it is becoming more dangerous to drive.

58 Engine Stall problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 05/15/2010

After filling gas tank, engine would repeately stall (at idle or at 40 mph) up to 6 times within 2+ miles. . Incident did not seem to occur if the tank was not full.
