In January I filed a safety complaint on this web site regarding the stalling of my Chrysler 300c after filling the gas tank (odi # 10561779). Over the last two and a half months the problem has persisted, with the only way to avoid the problem was to only fill the gas tank to 3/4 full. On 2/24/14 I saw the abc news report that stated "us ends probe of Chrysler engine stalling" and the article states they investigated 1200 complaints and found 299 in which the fuel system allowed the gas tank to be over-filled. It also stated that "Chrysler updated the part in new cars and guaranteed it for life in cars now on the road. " when my Chrysler dealer (who has been taking care of my Chrysler since I bought it there new in 2/2006) was contacted, he stated that only certain VIN numbers were being covered. He told me I could call Chrysler and speak to them. I called the 1-800-992-1997 Chrysler customer service this morning. I explained about the stalling and that I had filed a complain back in December 2013 regarding the consistent stalling when the tank is filled. I explained my Chrysler dealer stated my car was not on their list, and to call Chrysler. The representative informed me that they were only fixing certain cars and mine was not one of them and that I could take it to the dealer and pay to have it fixed. When I asked if it turned out to be the exact same part that was being replaced, would they cover it, I was informed they would not. I am unsure what factors guided Chrysler on which cars to fix, but it appears that they have left out at least my car which has exactly the same described problem I have seen on the complaint web site.

After filling the car a Chrysler 300c stalls. This is now an ongoing problem as the car now stalls after fueling. The stall occurs mostly when stopped at a red-light or driving at a low rate of speed. It has now progressed to include when accelerating onto a interstate. The stall causes all safety systems to fail ie. Breaks, steering, et. I have called the local dealership and the Chrysler hotline 800-992-1997 and was informed that the national highway traffic safety administration, Chrysler will extend fuel-tank warranties does not apply to 2006 Chrysler 300c models. I was told the malfunctioning shut-off float and gas tank neck splash issue is not covered.

After filling up the gas tank I was driving on the highway. Traffic was heavy and speed was reduced to about 20 mph. While exiting the highway the car started to spurt and then shut off and the steering wheel locked. I was able to put the car in park and restart the vehicle but once it slowed down again the car shut off. I was nearly rear-ended but fortunately the truck behind me stopped in time. This only happens when the tank is full so once there is only about 3/4 of a tank full the shut downs cease. Does it take fatal accidents like what gm had before Chrysler issues a recall?.

After filling tank, the car stalled on exit from gas station. The car stalled a few miles later after stopping and then trying to go. Filling the tank with gasoline has become extremely slow since then. 20 to 30 minutes to fill the tank. Most recently on 3/4/2014, the car stalled again when stopped at red light. The stalling and slow fill have been continuing since November 2013 and happening more frequently recently. The nhsta has a case number pe13016 which describes exactly my situation as a defective fuel tank valve. In that case, Chrysler has agreed to extended warranty on gas tanks for 2006 Chrysler c cars in the case file write up, but both the dealer and customer service do not acknowledge the existence of the case findings or the problem itself. I am hoping the nhsta will stand behind their findings and support the completion of manufacturers solution. Right now Chrysler does not appear to be honoring its solution.

After filling up the fuel tank from a start of 1/8 th to full tank, the car stalled after leaving the service station about 200 feet down the road while stopped at a light. After getting the vehicle restarted I began to accelerate from the stopped position but driving power train was fairly erratic as the car attempted to lurch forward or accelerate unpredictably then would pull back by nearly stalling. This continued for several miles before reaching my driveway. The car while in neutral loped substantially from 2000 rpm to 100rpm several times before stalling. Attempting to start the car after stalling was successful. Leaving the car parked and off for 60 minutes had no beneficial effect. After returning the starting was very difficult and the instrument panel gauges were not lit until the car started again. The car continues to be idle erratically both while in park and in drive and at slow speeds.

We had just filled the gas tank and were heading off to las vegas for a long weekend when as we drove less than a block away the car stalled. This never happened before, we restarted the car and she continued to jerk around acting like it was going to stall again. We were very close to a pep boys so we pulled in and told the clerk what was happening, he said we maybe got bad gas (maybe watered down) and to try a gas treatment. We did and it stalled again, we restarted the car and drove cautiously around town testing her reliability. She seemed fine so we drove on to vegas. She performed well for a few weeks then did it again after filling the tank so again we added gas treatment and things seemed fine. A month or so later the same thing again with the stalling after fueling. So far this has happened approximately 8 times since the first time and only after fueling. We are nervous to drive anywhere now. We have used various gas stations so not any particular brand makes this happen. It can go for several weeks without incident but we just never know when it may occur again. We looked it up online to see if anyone else was having similar problems and found that owners of Chrysler 2006 300c and magnums and chargers all experienced the same thing. Pe13-016 was referenced as the original investigation number into these occurrences. Chrysler supposedly issued a lifetime extended warranty for this problem but only to those affected and notified them prior to Jan. 2014. The rest of us are screwed. I am asking for this investigation to be reopened. Chrysler needs to be fair to all owners of these vehicles with this defect. I am the original owner and have taken excellent care of my car. Many people have stated that Chrysler is not acknowledging their complaints since the investigation is closed. Your help is needed to correct this injustice.

After filling up with fuel, the engine stalled shortly after. This has occurred on a regular basis when filling the fuel tank using regular unleaded gas. Several complaints duplicate this occurrence.

On 8/29, I picked my car up from the dealership for a repair to the body. When I attempted to start the vehicle, it turned over but would not start. After several attempts, I went back inside and made the service manager aware. He came out and after a few tries, it started. They told me they didn't know what was wrong with it but that it seemed to be fine so I could take it. I started the vehicle with no issue and took it to a nearby gas station to fill it up. After filling it up, it would not start. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership. It was at the dealership from 8/29 to 9/26. During that time, the battery was changed, the evap canister was replaced and the gas tank was replaced. When I went to pick te vehicle up on 9/26, it would not start. After several attempts and pumping the gas while turning the ignition, the vehicle started. I am now only able to start the vehicle if the gas pedal an pumped while the key is being turned. The vehicle has also attempted to stall several times since I got it back and doesn't have the power it had when I bought it. I have also smelled gas while driving immediately after accelerating. My check engine light is now on also. The dealer has requested that I bring the vehicle back to them and I fear that it will be there another 4 weeks and return to me in the same or even worse condition!.

After many incidents we have determined that after filling with fuel, the vehicle stalls many times in approximately the next 5 miles, makes the vehicle very scary to drive. Difficult to get the whole family and station attendants to understand that this car can not have a full tank of gas. Terrible failure that it seems Chrysler is ignoring. . .

After filling car with fuel and drive a few hundred feet car starts bucking and stalls. Restarts and bucks and stalls a few more times then runs fine until next time we fill up. We have stopped filling car up but just putting 10 to 12 gallons when we get gas. We cannot fill the fuel tank up or take a serious chance of having car stall in traffic as we had a couple close calls. I have asked beck Chrysler if there was a recall or fix for this and was told by service manger never heard of problem. I have read that many people are having same problems and only fix is to pay over a $1000. 00 for a new gas tank as this is only fix. I have replaced vapor canister and vapor control valve in engine compartment with no improvement. I feel Chrysler should fix this for no charge as it is part of the emission system and also worry my wife and I will be hurt or killed by this flaw in the fuel tank. Vehicle stalled at low speed. The date indicated is believed to be approximately the first time this occurred. It has occurred about 6 times in the last two years, the last being on Jan 2, 2015. This last occurrence happened just after filling the tank, and within 1 mile. The vehicle stalled when approaching the entrance gate to the housing complex, again when arriving at the house, and once more while sitting idle.

After filling up with gas drove to stop light and car stalled. Had hard time starting. Took to pensacola Chrysler and the mechanic said we needed a new gas tank . 2100$'s.

Vehicle stalled 3 times after filling up the gas tank. Very close to a multiple car pile up behind me. Tank was not topped off and never has. Chrysler knows this is a problem yet refuses to help the owners of these vehicles. The gas tank is faulty, causing raw fuel to enter the evap system.

My wife drives this vehicle. Every time she fills it up with fuel, the car stalls in traffic 2-3 times immediately after she drives away from the gas station. It will however restart after a few minutes. She has had several close calls that could have resulted in a serious accident. At least once she was driving through a curve when the engine stalled, disabling the power steering where she was no longer able to control the vehicle to a safe stop. The first time this happened, I took it to the dealer and they told me it was my wife's fault because she must be overfilling the tank. They told me to tell her to let the fuel pump nozzle shut off the fuel when the tank was full and not put in any additional fuel after that. Well we tried this and it makes absolutely no difference. Then I carried it back to the dealer again and they told me that they had since found out from Chrysler that this was due to a defective fuel tank issue and the only fix was to replace the tank and associated parts at a cost of approx. $2000. If Chrysler knew that the fuel tank was defective, it should be fixed under warranty. Chrysler should not be allowed to get away with this. It is a serious safety issue and someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed if they haven't already! please help. Thank you.

After filling the fuel tank as I was leaving the station the car stalled and the check engine light came on. The car started and I drove about 3 blocks and it stalled again at a traffic light. It ran ok the next several fill-ups and then it happened and this time it stalled four (4) time. Once on a busy by-pass I spoke with Chrysler customer service on March 20, 2012and they will do nothing about this. Clearly this is a serious safety issue. I am having the fuel tank replaced at a cost of $1200. 00. .

I bought my car new in March 2006 and I am the only owner/driver. I do like my car and will buy another Chrysler 300c. When the car was new I had several stalling issues where the car would stall at low speeds or while sitting at a traffic light. I do not recall if it was after refueling. I took the car to the dealer and no "codes" were found and the dealer could not replicate the problem. The car than ran perfectly for six years with no stalling issues. All maintenance has been performed including new spark plugs as recommended by Chrysler. Starting earlier this year the stalling restarted and it only happens after I fill the car with fuel. I have tried several other gas stations and ran some fuel injection cleaner through the fuel system. I do not top off the tank when filling the car up. At one point the stalling occurred after every fill up and now it is not as often (every other fill up). After filling the tank the car starts normally and as I exit the gas station and stop to check to merge into traffic the car will stumble and stall. It restarts and will stall again if I don't keep the engine rpm's up. Sometimes after I fill up and quickly merge into traffic (and not allow the car to fall to idle speed) while accelerating up to 25-40 mph the car will stumble and it feels like it is not getting fuel. It does not stall because the car is gaining speed and then clears up after a "surge" and then runs fine till the next fill up cycle. I am careful about pulling out in heavy traffic after fill ups out of fear of it stalling.

Five minutes after refueling my 2006 300c, it stalled at a stop light. Vehicle restarted quickly, but could not hold steady rpms at idle or higher. Drove immediately to dealer, and vehicle stalled three more times on the way. Dealer personnel indicated stalling could be caused by over-filling the gas tank (however, I had not continued filling the tank after the pump auto-shut-off). Dealer suggested running the engine for 15 minutes to clear vapor canister. This did not help. Dealer replaced fuel tank and vapor canister, $1500. This is a dangerous condition since the rough running leads to stalling at intersections or stop signs.

On 3 separate occasions immediately following filling with gas, the engine died within 2 blocks of the gas station. No check engine light was displayed on any of the 3 occasions and the car was extremely difficult to restart, requiring at least 30 seconds. Also, after restart on all 3 occasions, the engine ran very rough for 1-2 miles and then ran smoothly. On 1 of the occasions, the car died the next day after only driving a few blocks from home. After the first occurrence, the spark plugs were changed, the throttle body was cleaned, the vapor canister was replaced, and the evaporation system solenoid was replaced. On 1 of the occasions, the gas tank was topped off beyond the initial shut-off by several tenths of a gallon. After the 3rd occurrence (70,796 miles), the car was taken to the olathe Chrysler dealership and diagnosed as needing to replace the gas tank (2/20/2013). The cost was $1583. 58. Since then, the vehicle now has 72,062 miles . . . Approximately 1200 miles since replacing the gas tank . . . And has not died following filling with gas (6 times).

After filling the fuel tank the engine will stall when stopping for a light or when first leaving the light. It will also jerk while driving. This happens until the fuel level goes down. It did not do this when first purchased. Now it happens every time the tank is filled. If the car stalls while driving the steering and brakes become difficult to use. There are many reports online about this same problem. Chrysler does not claim to know anything about this at the dealer. Someone will get hurt or worse if this problem is not addressed. Thank you.

Car unexpectedly stalled in traffic but started right up again. This happened several times as I made my way to the Chrysler dealer a few miles away. They could not diagnose problem at the time. The car ran fine until yesterday January 31st 2013 when it happened again but this time in heavy traffic. I managed to get the car started and it continued to stall several times as I made my way to the dealer again. The mechanic identified the problem which appears to happen right after filling the gas tank as a problem with the vapor recovery system. He stated he has seen this problem many times and the remedy is to replace the fuel tank and vapor recovery lines and filter etc. Cost about $2000. I asked if it was a recall given that this happens frequently (my online research suggests this is a common problem with Chrysler 300c). I was told it was not a recall. My issue is that this is a serious safety problem and should be addressed by the manufacturer.

Vehicle hesitates/stalls after filling with fuel. Dealership replaced purge solenoid and cannister at a cost to me of $538. 22. After replacement, car died on me 5 times after filling with fuel in less than a 4 block area. Returned car to dealership. Was told the customary fix was a new canister and fuel tank, at an additional cost of $1,168. 70 plus tax, or to only fill tank 3/4 of the way full when fueling. I choose not to pay approximately an additional $1,200 and have not been able to fill my tank to first fuel hose shutoff since. Have had to try to guess how much fuel to put into vehicle when fueling ever since. Don't understand why I wasn't notified by the dealership of this problem since they obviously have a record this was an issue with my vehicle, and have not received the fuel tank extended lifetime warranty coverage letter from Chrysler. Have not been contacted by Chrysler at all regarding this problem.

After filling the gas tank to full, stopping after the pump clicks off the first time, the vehicle stalled after running for around 5 minutes. Restarted vehicle and same thing happened two more times. Vehicle continues to do this regularly.

After filling up my gas tank, I encountered numerous stalls while driving. Thankfully, it was city driving early in the morning. Since then, I have encountered numerous situations where the car has stalled after filling up. I initially thought it was bad gas (I. E. Water in my gas tank), however, I have since varied the fueling stations and brands I use and have seen no effect. It always seems to happen after I fill up, and it seems to go away after the tank has emptied a bit. The latest encounter was yesterday (I filled up two days prior) while I had my family in the car - multiple stalls in mid-day city traffic. And again this morning. The gas tank is still quite full (it shows over "f" on the gauge). I _never_ top off when I fill - I simply wait until the filler turns itself off when filling. I have never seen this problem prior to the first occurrence in mid November of 2012, which I initially (as indicated) wrote off as bad gas due to hurricane sandy (I figured the storm may have caused water in the tanks of gas stations). After hearing about numerous issues on this, I wanted to add my experiences to the growing list. The car in question is a 2006 Chrysler 300c srt-8.

I own a Chrysler 2005 300c. The had no fuel problems until the odometer reached approx. 50k miles. It then started to stall immediately after filling the gas tank. I would have issues with the engine stalling while in park or driving under 60 mph. I has stalled while driving in traffic which created serious safety issues unless I got it restarted quickly. I would have to immediately put the car in neutral and restart. It appears that the problem goes away after driving for a day or so. I have asked the Chrysler dealership if there were any TSB's on the problem ans have been told no. Owners on the Chrysler's owner forum with my type of car are complaining of the same issue and say that there is an issues with the gas tanks that Chrysler does not want to address.

2005 Chrysler 300c died in traffic shortly after filling fuel tank full of gasoline. The vehicle was restarted and died three more times in traffic before running fine. My concern is that this is an accident waiting to happen. Online research showed this is a common occurrence in this vehicle after filling fuel tank to full. Apparently raw gasoline (rather than vapors) gets into the evaporative system and enters the engine, creating a rich fuel situation and the stalling. This is a very serious situation and should be investigated further. Thank you.

Many multiple incidents - after filling fuel tank, engine will stall multiple times shortly afterwards and is difficult to re-start. This happens even if care is taken to avoid "topping off" tank. At times the engine has even stalled during fueling once tank is near full, before pump clicks off. Must drive with gas cap removed for it to start and run at all for many miles before it behaves normally again, and even with gas cap removed it still will come near stalling at times.

This is message is to help you out. My 2005 300 stalled when filling the gas tank as well, and finally it was determined that the entire gas tank from front to back needed to get replaced. Dont let the dealer tell you otherwise. My car was fixed and has been fine ever since. Everything that is being said about it stalling after pumping gas to the max and the wheel locking w/o notice has to do with the gas pump.

Every time the car is filled up with gas, it stalls several times. This can be dangerous as at least once I was getting on an interstate. Fortunately, no accident occurred. The first time I took it to the dealership they said it was because I overfill the tank (which I don't) and replaced a charcoal filter and solenoid at the cost of almost $500. It happened again after this repair and now I am told I need a new gas tank. This will cost another $1250. I am aware of this happening on other Chrysler 300's. Contacted Chrysler and reported the problem. At first they said it was because of overfilling the tank and now confirm it is the fuel tank, but there have been no recalls on this issue. We bought the car in 2005 when the new 2006's came out. This is a very dangerous issue.

After filling gas tank with fuel engine will stall for the first few miles. Has stopped in traffic/roadway putting myself in danger after putting fuel into the car.

Every time I put gas in my Chrysler 300c and start the engine, the car tends to jerk forward and then the engine literally shuts down. This is a very serious problem, because the engine has shut down while I'm on the interstate; after filling up gas tank to capacity, my vehicle stalled after driving for not even one mile because fuel flooded the engine. The vehicle restarted after several attempts but my vehicle continued to stall after a distance. I took vehicle to an authorized dealer who stated that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The fuel tank was replaced, but I am very concerned that this problem could have caused a crash resulting in a lot of damage and possible death!!.

After filling gas tank, car stalls many times before running ok, until next fill up and then it does the same thing every time.

Problem first occurred at approx 41k miles. Had just refilled tank and car refused to start. Let car sit for 1/2 hour and car restarted. Problem has occurred intermittently since then - always after refilling the tank. Sometimes the car is hard to start after a refill and other times it stalls, typically when leaving the gas station. I use the auto-fill feature at gas stations and do not overfill.

The engine will stall after every fill-up. It stalls within 15 seconds after starting it up at the gas station. It will then stall repeatedly at intersections and every time the car comes to a stop. In addition, it has stalled while making right hand turns and misfires and stumbles while at speed. The stalling/misfiring episodes do not occur once 2-3 gallons of gas have been consumed. This situation is extremely dangerous as I have been nearly rear ended as traffic started to pull away from a green light, and also stalled at intersections while making right turns. The Chrysler dealer said nothing was wrong since they didn't find any codes or TSB's regarding this problem. I have taken the car to an independent garage and they found a lot of chatter on their mechanic help websites. They think it might be the emission control that sits on top of the gas tank. The top gas in the tank is flooding over to the engine and stalling it out. Since Chrysler nor anyone else can say what definitively is going on I have cautiously not been filling the tank. This car is dangerous since the next owner may not be aware of this issue.

Engine stalls after filling up the gas tank. Currently I can not fill up the gas tank and if I do the engine will stall and die. Last occurrence I was decelerating due to traffic to around 30-35 mph. The engine died during the deceleration. The traffic had picked up to 50-55 mph and I could not start the car so I had to pull off the road. If this had been in a location that I could not pull off the road I could have been in a serious accident. To compound the issue I can not go from neutral start the car and then into drive. The transmission will not shift into drive. I have to pull over and go into park before drive to get it to work.
