1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2001 Chrysler 300M

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

While driving the vehicle at 30 mph, I got a check engine light. The vehicle transmission would not shift to the next higher gear during acceleration. Note: this was also evident by an increase of engine rpm's on the tachometer. This vehicle was purchased new by myself in 2001. It has only 17,508 miles on it!. Checking of the engine fault light revealed a p0601 trouble codei. This is an internal fault in the powertrain control module (pcm). I have seen similar problems noted by other 2001 Chrysler 300 m owners, upon conducting a search on the computer. Since this appears to be a common problem for this vehicle, I would like to know why there have not been any recalls!.

2 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 1999 Chrysler 300M

Failure Date: 08/13/2005

1999 Chrysler 300m, driving along freeway at 60 mph, sudden deceleration. Big scare for wife coming home in rush hour. Speedometer read zero, and the transmission was stuck in first gear. Could not get car to shift into another forward gear, still would go into reverse. Had to call tow truck to tow through houston, 65 miles to home on west side. $165. 00 for tow alone. This issue, I see, is common with this car. Why doesn't Chrysler address this problem??? tcm transmission control module, or transmission solenoid pack may be to blame, I think it's the transaxle output speed sensor, since speedo is not working. Transmission had no prior sign of problems. Love those computers. Sure do hate them in my car.
