1 Body problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/19/2025

The passenger sliding door on my 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is stuck half way open and will not move. The vehicle was parked and we opened the automatic door and it opened fine. I pushed the close button and it closed half way and stopped. The cables that connect the door to the open/close motor are hanging out. I called the Chrysler dealership and they tried to schedule me an appointment next week. I asked how to get it to the dealership and they said to drive it in. I said the door is stuck half way open and its not safe. They said to either drive it in or tow it in. I asked if there was a recall or an extended warranty. They said there was not and that I would have to pay for all repairs out of pocket. The motor actuates but since the cables don't move it faults out. I have pushed and pulled as hard as I can and the cables will not move. This puts all passengers in danger as the door is part of the structural integrity especially in a side impact collision.

4 Body problem of the 2025 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/19/2025

Passenger rear-sliding door will not open automatically/ will not properly re-latch despite multiple repair attempts (ie sensor and module replacement).

5 Body problem of the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/13/2025

The vehicle was purchased on 1/8/2025. On 1/13/2025, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer because the transmission wouldn't shift to park. Dealer performed a software update to correct the issue. On 1/21/2025, the vehicle had to be towed to a dealer because the transmission wouldn't shift to park. Dealer replaced the gear selector. On 1/27/2025, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer because it wouldn't shift to park. Dealer stated the battery failed. On 3/13/2025, the vehicle was taken to a dealer because the rear hatch opened on its own while driving and wouldn't close. Transmissions that won't shift to park present a serious roll away hazard that could injure or kill a person.

6 Body problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 12/30/2024

While driving the vehicle on a highway - a hard solid piece of the exterior literally separated from the vehicle and flew off. This incident gave rise to the risk of an accident or injury to those traveling behind or to others traveling on the highway. A flying projectile is an inherent safety risk. No external force or event caused this. Vehicle literally fell apart on its own. Some kind of defective attachment process or mechanism. Vehicle was purchased new.

7 Body problem of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/18/2024

Bubbling on both sliding doors and also all along front of hood. Just noticed it as hard to tell unless you put a flashlight on the areas as van is black.

8 Body problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/14/2024

Dear sir, I am submitting this formal complaint regarding severe misconduct, fraud, and reckless endangerment committed by Hyundai escondido, Hyundai motor America, and ally financial in connection with the sale and financing of a dangerously defective 2021 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid touring awd (VIN: [xxx] ). 1. Background of the case on [xxx] I purchased the above-referenced vehicle from Hyundai escondido under the representation that it was a Hyundai certified pre-owned (cpo) vehicle that had passed rigorous manufacturer standards. The dealership provided me with a carfax report showing no prior accidents or major repairs and falsely assured me that the car was in excellent condition. However, immediately after purchase, I discovered that the vehicle had severe hidden defects, including: •extensive flood damage, which was concealed at the time of sale and significantly compromised the car’s electrical and safety systems. •prior frame and structural damage from an accident that was never disclosed. •critical electrical malfunctions causing the vehicle to swerve uncontrollably on its own, without any driver input. •severe safety risks, which nearly resulted in an accident with another vehicle carrying a baby on board. •substantial mechanical and structural issues requiring over $20,000 in repairs, making the car unsafe and unusable. Despite reporting these issues on the first day of ownership, Hyundai escondido refused to acknowledge or rectify the matter. 2. Hyundai escondido’s role in fraud and misrepresentation •knowingly sold a flood-damaged and structurally compromised vehicle without disclosure. •misrepresented the vehicle as a certified pre owned. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

9 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/22/2024

Numerous issues: 1. Multiple misfire codes, check engine 2. Loss of coolant, no indication of leaks 3. Faulty thermostat. Loss of a/c and heat 4. Bottom of both sliding door panels corroded, with paint loss 5. Uconnect system malfunctioned, not working at all **repairs have costs thousands already. And based on the other complaints, probably much, much more. Something is obviously wrong here, but Chrysler is not doing much about it unfortunately.

10 Body problem of the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/03/2024

I own a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica (VIN: 2c4rc1gg0lr229568) with approximately 60,000 miles. In October 2024, corrosion began appearing on the sliding doors. Despite proper care (garage kept, washed and waxed monthly), the bubbling and corrosion worsened significantly over 11 months. Photos are timestamped and show clear progression. Two independent body shops confirmed this is premature aluminum corrosion and suggested I request goodwill coverage. On September 8, 2025, I brought the vehicle to preston Jeep of newark, DE, only 19 days after my factory warranty expired. Chrysler offered 58% coverage, but this defect appeared long before warranty expiration and is now more widespread than a single door. I am filing this complaint because I believe this represents a broader defect affecting Chrysler Pacifica vehicles. Nhtsa has issued service alerts on aluminum corrosion for Chrysler body panels, which supports that this is not an isolated incident. This corrosion threatens the durability of the doors and could compromise safety if left untreated.

11 Body problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/02/2024

There is no safety feature on the automatic sliding doors that prevent them from fully closing on something or someone. Once they begin closing they will not reverse if they encounter an obstacle. Given the nature of the vehicle being primarily for family use with children as well as children being the passengers that would use this entry, not having a safety measure to prevent them from being crushed is unacceptable. My 3 year old had accidently hit the close button and the door kept pushing them forward toward the latch and even with considerable force pulling it the other way when I noticed and realized it also wasn't stopping or reversing to open, I was lucky to be there. Then again recently, my wife was in the car cleaning out some items where she had reached in and she accidently bumped the same button, however, the door kept closing on and pressing into her. I thankfully was on the other side and ran over and threw all my weight backwards for it to stop, again, not reversing. It was something we noticed early on, but figured with the electronic failure they continue failing to resolve it was related and would be either solved or the fault become a recall. However, after it happening again recently and without any safety recall, I'm now reporting.

12 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 06/30/2024

Passenger sliding door fell off.

13 Body problem of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 05/30/2024

My [xxx] grandson was getting out the automatic sliding door passenger side. His head was in the way and he door button was hit and the door started to close. It closed on his head and he had to force the door open because it didn’t do what it was supposed to do. If a small child was in the door it would have shut them in and they couldn’t get out. This needs to be addressed by the safety board. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

14 Body problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/28/2024

Ghost braking. While driving on the road using the adaptive cruise control, the van initiated its braking system as if someone was in front of me. This happened with nothing in front of me for miles in sunny cool weather and while at night passing a car with fog. I assumed the fog case had some bearing as the car I was passing their tail lights appeared to illuminate the fog to a degree you would think was a car in front of me. Glove box needed to be replaced. Kept opening and slamming on my bride's chins. The trunk is soaking up water from an unknown source after heavy rains and car washes. We noticed the issue when we vacuumed the rear trunk space and took out the mat. We dried it at the local car wash and didn't think much of it until we went through a car wash again. And there was the leakage but unknown from where.

15 Body problem of the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

Rear passenger sliding door power lock failed. The door does not lock, leaving the door accessible even with the vehicle alarm armed.

16 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/30/2024

Driver side sliding door fell off onto my wife causing window to break and was hanging by just a cable on bottom track.

17 Body problem of the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/20/2024

The rear tail gate will not latch. In cold weather the rear gate has exhibited problems latching. The tailgate motor fails to open or close and the latch remains released. The latch is well greased and moves. You can hear the latch motor run, however the tailgate does not latch shut. There is no d-ring or pull to tie a rope. No handles with a through hole to tie the tailgate closed to protect animals and baggage from falling out the back. The tailgate slowly opens by itself while driving. Wind pressure or bumps cause it to open when the latch fails to work properly. This could put occupants and drivers on the highway at risk if things fell out the back of the minivan on the highway. The driver may not be aware that the tailgate opened up while moving by it self on the highway. The automatic closure mechanism and motorized latch need to close and latch tight for safety. There should be a d ring or a handle with a through space to tie the tailgate down if it fails in addition to a recall to program or replace defective components in Chrysler Pacifica with motorized tailgates.

18 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/17/2024

The auto opening passenger side door was only opening half way and stopping. Aware that there might be a component that prevented proper function we stopped the door by using electric eye and opened the door manually. This worked fine. We were traveling when this issue started. When we returned home I was unloading the van. It opened half way and started to close. I stood in the door to get it to stop closing. When it stopped I took the handle so I could close the door this action triggered the motor. The door finished opening and fell off. I caught it. I was by myself and had no children with me. I had groceries near by that I used to prop the door. I was then able to assess the situation. There are two small rollers that run under the back window. They are hooked to a hing that folds and unfolds when door opens and closes. When the door malfunctioned the door fell out of the back window track and fell toward me. I am a strong adult and was able to catch the door. It twisted off the bottom too. After trying to get the door back on the body of the car I gave up and called an auto body shop. They were unable to come out at that time the temp was -8 degrees. I looked at the working door on the drivers side. I was able to get the rollers back in the track enough to get the car into the shed. I packed the door with towels and rugs to keep it on the car. The next day the auto body shop staff came out. It took two men to get the rollers back into the track. If they would not have been able to get it on the track I would have had to have it towed into the dealership. 20 miles away. I am glad I was at home. I am glad I did not have children in the car. I am glad I was able to catch the door. The next morning body shop staff closed the double latched door and push it into the latches without triggering the motor that opened and shut the door. I drove it to the shop, they ran diagnostics. The top and middle roller hinges were broken.

19 Body problem of the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/02/2023

The mirror on the passenger side of the vehicle "exploded".

20 Body problem of the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 09/17/2023

09/17/23 was driving 65mph, car was slowing down in front of me and turned cruise control off. Immediately car started stalling. Was in middle lane with cars on both sides. Turned on flashers and no power in gas pedal. At about 30mph, was struck from behind by Jeep! third car behind struck Jeep and Jeep struck me again. There were injuries and a death. My car was towed. 10/02/23; now car is in body shop. Contacted Chrysler, they inspected car, but did not drive it. 10/12/23 just received email stating that they found no problem. They stated that they are not responsible as they found no evidence of manufacturing defect or recall having contributed to this accident. Insurance companies and police are still investigating.

21 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 08/02/2023

This week was the second time our van lost both low beam headlights at the same time while driving at night. Both times the dealership wanted over $500 to replace them. Our drive train will catch while driving. We took our van in for this problem and were told by the dealership that "its just the way the transmission is made" when we bought the vehicle it was two years old and had rust spots on the hood. We had it repaired. Now, two years later the same rust bubbles are starting to appear on the hood.

22 Body problem of the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 05/15/2023

The engine cradle as well as the engine mounts along with the subframe have deteriorated uncommonly fast resulting in the vehicle involuntarily swerving into other lanes of traffic.

23 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 04/28/2023

The driver-side rear sliding door is not closed securely and it reopened while closing without any other button access and obstacles on the door. But seems like it was fixed with an ecu software update. I have a problem with that and it was fixed with a repair visit last week. That means it was a known issue, but I must pay the repair cost. I have a short video clip to show the problem and my dealership was able to reproduce same symptom while they doing a diagnosis.

24 Body problem of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 04/24/2023

My local Chrysler dealership suggested (and charged me for) computer updates relating to the sliding doors and transmission of a 2019 Pacifica minivan. Without these updates, the service advisor said the sliding doors may not open/close and that the engine may rev but power may not be delivered to the drivetrain. Doors can be opened manually. I am not all that concerned about that one. But if the engine revs but does not deliver power to the wheels, the results can be catastrophic, especially while pulling out in traffic at highway speeds. These issues require a recall with costs covered by the manufacturer not the consumer. I was charged $165. 00 for this repair.

25 Body problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 04/11/2023

Description: my 3 year old daughter was getting out of the rear of the vehicle on the drivers side. The door is automatic and closes via button in the passenger compartment or the remote keyfob. She pushed the button to close the door and the door closed on her wrist and hand, the door did not automatically reverse and the door latched with her hand still inside. She was injured and needed to go to the hospital. This issue has also happened to several other people as well. There is a facebook page dedicated to complaints on this van. The door has closed on adults and children both. There were no warning lights, the vehicle has had a recall done on the auto open sensors under the doors. This issue occurred on April 11th 2023. The manufacturer was contacted and they have opened a case. The case number is 85938082.

26 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/09/2023

Was at my house and opened my door like normal. Door fell off the rear hinge and stayed connected on the front, but with the door now open. The van won't drive because the parking brake will just keep turning on.

27 Body problem of the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/08/2022

When locking vehicle and arming the alarm up on returning to vehicle in a parking lot no matter where. Upon return to vehicle before unlocking we notice vehicle rear tailgate is wide open. This has happened multiple times with a dealer not finding any cause. Now on our second case to have looked at. This is not good as anything in the vehicle is open to theft with me having no control of it. Happened on the road traveling to FL from IL leaving all of our belongings visible and available to take. Not good had luggage tools, guns all easily stolen.

28 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/31/2022

Today I could not get my fuel door to open. This is frequent and I’ve had it replaced once already. Today I in frustration accidentally popped off the door to the fuel tank and had to go to a dealership to even get it open and get fuel. Then I get home and I try to open the sliding door and it fell off. It was still connected on the track on the bottom. I looked it up and this seems to be a frequent complaint not just mine.

29 Body problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/19/2022

When I pushed the button on the handle to close the back sliding door, my 2 year old suddenly stuck his hand in front of where the door was shutting and the door did not stop. Thankfully I was able to push the button back open almost immediately but his hand bruised immediately. We applied ice and the swelling went down but it could have been much worse hadn't I opened the door back up right away. There should be a sensor that stops the door if something is in its way.

30 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/09/2022

The driver’s side passenger door was opened but then failed to close. That is when the sliding door completely broke away from its track & shattered the back window. The door almost injured me & could have seriously injured my younger daughter who was in the vehicle when this failure occurred. Upon looking at the damage afterwards there is significant rust to the components. No warning indicators where on & it will be brought to Monday 7/11/22 to a Chrysler dealership.

31 Body problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 06/22/2022

Automatic right passenger sliding door will not operate with the outside door handle or inside pillar switch making it a safety concern.

32 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 04/24/2022

After running my van through the car wash we found water leaking into the left rear interior through the roof. We took the vehicle to the dealer and they showed us the left rear seam under the roof trim was not completely sealed and had a hole in it. The seam sealer from the factory is painted in color and we had to pay to have our roof resealed due to factory defect. This could be safety related in nature due to exhaust gases from the tail pipe flowing back into the unsealed vehicle.

33 Body problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

When I first purchased my 2021 Pacifica hybrid pinnacle in January 2021, randomly when pressing the lift gate button in the top left of the trunk it would beep multiple times and the lift gate would not move. The key fob, front button, and rear button would not engage the lift gate motor. You had to manually shut the lift gate and it would latch. Then in November 2021 I had the y50 2021 ru power lift gate recall done on my vehicle and since then three times while driving the lift gate has popped up on its own. When you pull over all buttons are unresponsive and when you manually close the lift gate the locking mechanism does not engage. It just pulls right back open by hand or while driving. To resolve you must try over and over shutting the door, pressing the buttons, turning the vehicle on and off multiple times, letting it sleep and turn it back on and eventually the locking mechanism will engage. Have brought it multiple times to the dealer and every time they cannot recreate. Poses a dangerous safety issue while driving for the lift gate to open as you don't realize its not latched.

34 Body problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 02/24/2022

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking oil. The contact took the vehicle to the a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the oil filter housing was fractured and leaking. The oil filter needed to be replaced however they were on back order and could not be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

35 Body problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

Hi, I received a recall notice in February 2022 (z11) related to a fire potentially originating in the center of the vehicle underbody with the ignition in the off position. A resolution to this defect has just become available which would require the car (Chrysler Pacifica VIN 118706) to be kept overnight by an authorized dealer. My complaint deals with that no deal can provide a rental car that is of equal size to accommodate my family of 6 with four kids using car seats. I was told that an car of equal size cannot be provided and would have to pay for a rental out of pocket. Why would the cost not be covered by the manufacture that is attempting to resolve an issue created by them. I have kept my part of the agreement by making my monthly car payments and paying the car off with no issue. It seems to me that the manufacture has no regard to the buyers of their vehicles after the sell is complete. I am looking to have the recall corrected and to have a rental car of equal size provided by the manufacture, since they are holding my car as they fix their mistake. Let's take ownership of our mistake and do the right thing. Thank you for helping with this recall.
