I have twin boys, I let them out of their car seats after returning from daycare. I took bags in my house and returned to find my door off the upper track and hanging from the lower attachment causing much stress to the bracket and and scratching my exterior paint. From the door opening and closing so many time off the track. This occurred after my son said he hit that button on the door a few times. This door could of easily fallen off or hurt one of my sons. Very scary! also I found numerous other Pacifica forums that say the side windows have broken on there vehicles after this same type of event has happened. I am very concerned, this is my daily driver for all 3 of my sons who are all under 4yrs old. This heavy door could of caused serious damage to one of my sons. Please help me resolve this problem. Also now I have scratches on my paint from the door going back a forth which is visible from the outside.

The rear passenger door opens on its own. Several times I have returned to my car and found the rear door opened. After researching it, this is a know problem by Chrysler and they never recalled the vehicle. Thanks god I did not have my car or any valuables stolen. . Read more...
A few weeks ago we took our car to a mechanic to have the brakes worked on as a part of routine maintenance. When we picked it up, he noted that when he had it up on the lift, he saw that the engine cradle was very badly rusted. He said that we shouldn't drive it anymore because of the risks involved. I tried to crawl under the car when we got home (there isn't a ton of clearance) but I saw what he was talking about. At that point we looked online and found hundreds and hundreds of similar experiences and complaints. We were left dumbfounded at the risks this introduces. . . Thinking about what would happen if this mechanic hadn't noticed the issue and we'd been driving down the interstate with our kids when the thing decided to give way. And the fact that the manufacturer knows of this issue and has done nothing is beyond disgusting. Fortunately we found out from the mechanic, not from the engine falling out. Even still, this means that we're left with a worthless car. While our car is abandoned in the driveway hoping for Chrysler to right their wrong, we still see lots of similar vehicles on the road. I'm guessing that their owners don't know that they're driving death traps either. We had a 2008 tacoma with similar frame rust issues and Toyota recalled it almost a decade after it was manufactured, and replaced the entire frame. Chrysler should have to do the same to repair their shoddy and negligent design, or at least compensate us for the complete loss of value so that we can have some money to put towards its replacement. I also think that this issue needs to be publicly noted for all similar model years. We'd purchased this from a Chrysler dealership, and had checked the carfax and consumer reports before purchasing this vehicle, and none of them noted these issues even though the vehicle was a few years old at the time.

This car was bought used in 2020. It had less than 15000 miles on it at that time and was still under original warrantee. I took it to a Chrysler dealership for some minor repairs which they resolved. I informed them that there was a rapid acceleration issue which they couldn't resolve. For the last year it has continued. It only happens at low speeds an is definitely not a pedal issue I recently happened while pulling into a handicap spot and I hit a pole. It was fortunate that it wasn't a crosswalk or some on could have been seriously injured.
The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid minivan has electronic sliding doors. The doors do not always shut when the button is pressed or handle is pulled. Sometimes it takes 4 to 10 tries to get the sliding door to shut and latch. The Chrysler owner's forum says this problem can be fixed by having the dealer reprogram the door software to make the door close with a little more force. This problem started at 36000 miles, I now have 46700 miles on the van. One owner van that I bough brand new in 2018.

First component failures - passenger sliding door: a) while driving, the passenger sliding door mechanism engages and attempts to open the door - the driver then sees a notification "to operate the sliding door, put the vehicle in park"; b) when parked, if the door is open and we want to close it, we can engage the closing mechanism with button or fob, but then it will not stop and re-open even if there is an obstruction; it has closed on my wife's arm and almost hurt one of the kids. One can even try to stop the door from closing with their full body weight, or the use of the door handle, and the mechanism simply continues to closure. C) when parked, if the doors are unlocked, the door will sometimes start opening and then go into a cycle of back-and-forth opening and closing for several minutes; the only way to stop it is use the button on the ceiling to turn off the automatic sliding feature. Second component failure: electrical. When we return home after driving the car, and turn it off, and go inside, the dashboard lights stay activated and the message on the dash says to depress the brake pedal and push the start button. This even happens when the keys are not present and doors are locked. We put both keyfobs on the other side of the house as a test, and the vehicle appeared ready to be started. The battery dies daily. Third component problem: suspension. This is a new vehicle we had converted into a wheelchair accessible vehicle by freedom motors in battle creek, michigan, with a rear-entry ramp. For a wheelchair passenger in the back, the ride is extremely rough and unstable (a lot of swaying on curves). The car passed maryland state inspection after it was delivered to us, but we doubt validity of any safety self-certification freedom did post-conversion. See these two videos: https://drive. Google. Driver side door constantly opens. I hit the button to close and it opens right back up. My daughters car seat is right there, so when I go to put her in her car seat say while it's raining or snowing and I hit it to close to walk away, bam it's right back open. It never stays shut. It takes me 5 times to finally shut my door. This happens all the time. Anytime the van is running or off it does this.
Purchased this vehicle in 2013, inquired about defects and recalls but was told there was none. Vehicle had 46,000 miles on it at time of purchase 104k presently. Good running vehicle up to par on maintenance, which all goes to waste with a rotted subframe. Researched 100's possibly 1000's of complaints online with the same issue, where was mentioned nothing was done about it. Contacted Chrysler myself to put in complaint and agent would not even forward it to the next level because the lack of recall or extended warranty. The cost for a new frame from a Chrysler dealer is over 2k and cost just as much to replace. But the part is on back order for weeks. (could this mean there are so many people in line waiting to order and needing this particular part?) cannot trust used parts because of many Chrysler Pacifica owners had to salvage their vehicle for the same reason. More of an investigation should be done into this. In the midst of a pandemic who can afford these outrageous, unexpected repair costs or even a new vehicle. My only option is to salvage it for way less that it's worth, as I mentioned it drive great! I cannot sell it to anyone else knowing the safety hazard it has on it and I cannot afford a car payment. I am fearful of my engine falling out of the bottom if I drive it. Something has to be done, too many vehicles with the same issue. Force a recall on Chrysler for their rotted subframes.
My 2017 Chrysler Pacifica limited passenger sliding door fell off today. Van was stationary. My kids opened the door with the automatic open button on outside door handle. The door opened and then the kids got in the van and pushed the interior close button and the door got jammed. Then my wife tried to move it and couldn't get it to open all the way or close. She then realized a part was sitting on the ground and had fallen off. This is when I got called to look at the van. Luckily, the door didn't fall to the ground and instead fell off its track on the bottom hinge that powers the door back and forth. The part that fell off is the bracket to hold the door up and keep it attached close to the track that sits right on the rear bottom of the sliding door opening on the body of the van. Very odd piece to fall off because two bolts hold it on and can only be removed by taking the door trim piece all the way off. It is in a hard to reach place that a user error cannot likely cause.
My van has 54,000 miles it's not very old and the transmission is skipping (up shifting, down shifting, and highway driving) I keep taking it to the dealer ship they keep running updates on it and it's still skipping. The van has a very rough idle (keeps feeling like it's going to turn off while it's in park) something is wrong with it and the deal ship thinks it's okay. Well it's not. The front hood has bubbles in the paint and it's still a new vehicle how am I to think I will be owning this van for atleast 10 more years and it's becoming rusted already.
While driving, my son, who was seated in the passenger side of the third row, noticed that his cupholder area was extremely hot. I pulled over and confirmed. We drove on and I told him to check. It stayed very hot for the duration of the drive. At the first visit the dealer said that they added insulation between the interior panels and the coolant lines in the area, though as an engineer I understood that said insulation would do nothing if it were squeezed tightly between the panel and the pipe. We noticed no change and reported the problem to Chrysler, who refunded the visit but took no further action. A repeat visit to the dealer had them saying there was less than five degrees difference between the hot spot and the surrounding area. I used my infrared thermometer to prove that the section of the interior panel is over 130 degrees whereas the surrounding panel is about 65. You can see this in the video I link to below. This is a safety issue, as second degree burns can result from temperatures that high, and it could start a fire. Repeated attempts to contact Chrysler were ignored. Https://youtu. Be/gtbecz5chtg.
The under carriage that holds engine in place is completely rusted through. I bought brand new tires from belle tire on September 9, 2020. By November 1 2020 I was observing extreme wear on the brand new tires. Went to my mechanic and was told the car is unsafe to drive due to the cradle rust rot, and the engine is about ready to fall out and would cause catastrophic emergency I and my family could die. Trying to find replacement and am being told it is such a problem that there is no parts available to fix this problem.

I brought my car in for inspection. I also wanted them to check the muffler. I was contacted by the garage, they were not able to inspect the vehicle because the subframe under the engine is completely rusted away. They said even if they could replace the muffler there would be nothing to attach it to. That's how deteriorated it is. I would like to know if there is any recourse I have ? I would like Chrysler to be responsible for this defect. Thank you, larry la bella.
This van was purchased by a dealer with approximately 23,000 miles. It was sold to a retail customer and the following day it caught on fire in the customers garage. We had it towed to a Chrysler dealership and Chrysler said they would not accept any responsibility for fire, even though the vehicle is clearly under bumper to bumper warranty. After leaving it there while trying to get Chrysler to fix it we finally sent a tow truck to pick it up. The tow truck driver got in the vehicle to put it in neutral and it caught on fire again. The entire front end of the vehicle is burner/melted and Chrysler refuses to look at it or repair it under warranty.

When we shut the sliding door electronicly. It opens back up on its own. It beeps and then opens again. Sometimes we shut the door go in a store and the door is open cause it just opens on its own.
The van lost control on its own and would not allow me to break whatsoever, until I got into a very dangerous accident. I was told by fiat Chrysler automobiles that there was nothing wrong with the car, but there certainly was something wrong with the breaks. There was no issue with my driving, nor was there any issue with the weather. I am a seasoned driver of over 20+ years, and the weather the day of the accident was completely sunny and it was bright daylight outside. I was driving straight ahead on a residential neighborhood street. This should be looked into, especially considering the vast number of similar complaints regarding breaks and vehicle safety for this type of car.
When taking off from a stop and begin to accelerates it like it goes to neutral the engine's been revs and then shifts back into gear can cause a really hard jarred in the car all happens in about a second it has done it roughly 20 or so times in the 4 months we've owned it and the and when breaking and accelerating you can hear a clicking in the front of driver tire area and the back sliding doors will not always shut it takes multiple attempts what the electric motors sometimes you have to manually shut the doors.
Bought car 2018 Feb . No mention of whole under carriage rusted out - 2004-2008 Chrysler forgot to spray for rust. When we go we bought it later in evening - was assured that car had been checked out and sound. We have done some repairs on other things - thermostat , radiator , tires abs sensor issue but there was no mention of underside being rusted from front to back - two years and the engine is going to fall out and can no longer drive the car. This car was submerged in water somewhere before we received. This is the shorter version of this situation. Alignment is now way off , pulls to one side out of nowhere. Wearing on tires- just took it into heartland tire by house and told do not drive and that fixing it would be over 3500 or more.
The van was parked and the back glass shattered by itself. I was just sitting in the van and boom, glass shattered.
Vehicle was taken to service. Shop would not work on vehicle stating the deterioration of the subframe was to extensive and they would not work on it. Upon closer inspection showed the frame in a great state of decay, with some places only being held together with thin strips of metal. These vehicles were recalled in the past for defective frames however not all were recalled and this is one vehicle that was not. The motor in these vehicles will fall out and could cause an accident which could result in serious injury or loss of life. These frames are defective in workmanship from the factory and should be handled by the factory across all 2004-2008 Chrysler Pacifica's affected by defective equipment knowingly installed by the factory that will lead to an accident and cause serious injury or death. Thousands of these vehicles are on the road today with occupants unknowingly driving these vehicles which are "ticking time bombs".
Purchased vehicle new April 2019. The start/stop system has given a dash message 4 times. The dealer has replaced batteries and the entire drivers door mechanisim trying to correct the problem. This is a braunabilty handicapped conversion and it is imperative that the vehicle stop and start as needed. It cannot stop and not start in traffic situations. It also has a sliding door problem that has failed and stranded the handicapped person. Third situation is the brakes, the brakes failed, however the computer on the vehicle indicated no problem. The question below asks for a date it happened this is ongoing so I am using today's date.
Upon taking a the vehicle to a mechanic, I was informed the subframe which supports the engine is rusting to the point it will not hold the engine causing catastrophic failure. I have become aware Chrysler is aware of the future failure and will not fix it.
Severe cradle rust. Mechanic has said the engine could fall out of the vehicle without warning.
Bubbling of paint on the front edge of hood - entire width of hood. Appears like it is rusting underneath the paint.
Water entering through front side of marker light and shorting out light and corroding wiring and switch. Also, breaking active grille shutter. Also shorting out bulb for the marker light.
My car was built in 2005 when the subframe recall was issued, I called them to try and get some help, basically get reimbursed for the labor of getting the replacement subframe installed. The old subframe finally broke while I was driving at city speeds and I was lucky that the shop I used let me know. When I contacted them, the statement was that due to the age and current mileage of the car, we can not help you. Now if I had of been on a road trip or driving at the speed limit this would have cause some serious damage. This is a safety issue to anyone who has this vehicle and has run out of warranty to get it replaced. Below are photos of the old subframe and the door sticker.
Popping / creaking noise coming from left and right b-pillars when vehicle accelerates from a stop. Possible body flexing noise.
Both sliding doors will automatically and inadvertently reopen immediately after closing. This happens when the vehicle is turned off or in park.
Came to full stop at a light on a 2 lane highway. There was no one in front of me and one care behind. Almost immediately after stopping for the light, the engine stopped, the transmission indicator light flashed the light under "d" and the gauge cluster flashed multiple lights. I can only remember seeing fwc or fcw flashing but there were other lights. Auto start/stop was not disabled so I was initially not surprised by the engine stopping at a light. To restart, I had to place transmission back in "p", hold the brake and push the ignition. I then, despite having our seat belts on, had to disengage the parking brake by pushing the button. This usually happens automatically when the vehicle is placed in "d". Once we returned home, the driver's side power sliding door would not operate. We had to open it manually to get my son out. The passenger's side worked like it should. Both these things have happened to my wife (the primary driver) several times and reported to the dealership. They have been unable to replicate the problem or fix it.
We have a 2018 Pacifica, and the window on the driver-side sliding door all of sudden shattered while we were driving on freeway. We have a dashboard camera that records while we are driving. We could not see any objects flying towards the car or the sound of any object hitting the window when we checked the recording. But we can hear the recording of the glass fracturing sound of the window without any impact sound. I am puzzled about this glass window shattering, and why these windows are not shatterproof (like a safety film)! my kids were seating in their car seats next to this window, but luckily the sun shade protected them from getting sprayed by the shattered glass while we were driving at 65 mph. The wind was blowing in fast after this window broke. Since we could not see or hear any impact of anything in the video, I am wondering if this window shattered by itself !? I hope Chrysler has the proper glass specifications and qualification for these windows. Glass shattering can be very dangerous to vehicle's occupants!.
The bottom chassis is rotted under the motor near front wheels causing unsafe driving for my family.
Found out that my front sub frame/engine cradle is badly corroded and full of holes after having my tires changed.
This morning I entered the car with a passenger and neither front door would latch shut. The door would register to the car as closed when pulled shut, but it would not physically latch. The car was turned on and off, the doors were locked and unlocked, and the door was repeatedly opened and shut, and it still wouldn't latch. After about 4-5 minutes, the driver door successfully latched. Another 5-10 minutes was required on the passenger door before it suddenly started latching. There was no obvious maneuver that proceeded the proper functioning of the latch. Weather conditions were 23f this morning and dry. It was damp the night before and the temperature was above freezing, but did not rain overnight. Car was garaged indoors the day before but left outside in the driveway overnight. There was a slight sound of frost giving way when the door was first opened this morning, but no ice buildup.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated the front passenger side frame rail was rotten. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 141,000. Dp.
