1 Engine Noise problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 04/01/2021

When attempting to start the van it will periodically not engage. The gear selector will blink when you select a gear, but it will not respond to throttle. The vehicle will roll however. This becomes a greater problem as you need to remove your foot from the brake to cycle the van back to off. All of these issues are compounded by fact it is a phev and there is no engine noise to help you notice it has not started. Chrysler has said they are aware of the issue, but they have given no information other than a fix is supposed to come sometime in q2 of 2021.

2 Engine Noise problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 09/25/2018

2 days after purchasing car, the check engine light came on. I asked service folks at dealership if I can bring it in. They said bring it in the next day. Later that day, my wife drove to store. She was in for 15 minutes. When she came back to car in parking lot and started the car the monitor said something about car being put in "park" and then had electric failure after a strange noise. Worried that power failure could happen while car is in motion. Dealer would not replace car unless we gave all 10s on survey, which we refuse to do. Dealership service said car had complete electric failure. Was told this was the first time they have encountered this problem. Service person also said they were aware of defects in Pacificas. I asked how come they sold cars with known defects dealership stated they have lots of cars and many have defects.

4 Engine Noise problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

I purchased a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica in October 2016 and it has given me nothing but problems ever since then. Within the first year I took the vehicle back to the dealership multiple time for a wide range of issues 1. The main issue was a hesitation in acceleration (this problem is ongoing) each time we took it in they said that because they couldn't duplicate the problem they couldn't diagnose it, but when we got it home the problem always came back. It just continued to get worse, the warranty we purchased ran out and the vehicle ended up getting towed multiple times for repairs for the fuel system at another dealership (because I lost confidence in the dealership of purchase). The fuel system problem is dangerous because it stalls, stops, and shuts off in traffic. 2. The passenger (right-rear) turn signal and reverse light (right) wiring had to be repaired and is now out again also very dangerous when people don't know you're turning right, we've almost been rear-ended several times due to not having a working rear signal. 3. The lift gate stopped working 4. The engine sounds rough like its ready to shut off. Most of these issues were reported and/or repaired while the vehicle was still under warranty. Now that the warranty has expired all of the cost are my responsibility. A loaner car is no longer an option so I have to pay for rentals or miss work. Copies of the many roadside calls and tows attached.

7 Engine Noise problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

While driving on the freeway I glanced in my rear-view mirror and noticed smoke coming from out the back of my Pacifica. I proceeded to exit the freeway at the nearest exit and the car jerked and made a noise. I told my two daughters who were in the car with me not to panic and then drove to the nearest gas station. I assumed the car was overheating and when I pulled up to the pump to put in coolant, someone in the car next to me told me my car was on fire. Three good samaritans pushed my car away from the gas pump, the fire department was called, and I watched the front end of my car burst into flames. The only salvageable part of the car was the rear area. The fire department hosed it down with water and had to use an ax to break open the hood of the car. The car was a total loss and I have contacted Chrysler who will send someone out to investigate the cause. I am awaiting on a response from them currently.

8 Engine Noise problem of the 2006 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/13/2009

On March 5, 2012 I was required to pay $95. 00 for a full diagnostic to satisfy [xxx] ([xxx] corporate office). The service was rendered by capital Chrysler 200 waterfield ridge place, garner nc 27529. The service rep [xxx] and service manager [xxx] informed me that the catalytic converter replacement looked used due to the rust on it and was causing other mechanical failures in my vehicle but would not confirm this in writing. I do not have an extra $1000. 25 sitting around to pay for a part that Chrysler is well aware of it being defective or used. Chrysler settled a lawsuit in 2005-6 with the u. S. Environmental protection agency for the defective catalytic converter. In closing, as a resolution to this matter I would like all repairs related to this matter replaced at no expense to me by a certified Chrysler dealership of my choosing. . Read more...

9 Engine Noise problem of the 2006 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 08/02/2008

I purchased a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in may 2007 w/ 20,134 miles on it. It started a tapping noise at the beginning of Aug 2008 (apprx 40,840 miles) and went into the shop on 08/04/08. The dealership called me on 08/08/08 to p/u my vehicle and reported that the noise was due to my using non-mopar oil and filter (they changed the oil and filter that day). The car was still making the noise when I started it but the mechanic informed me that "well it sounds better than it did, you just need to drive it for a few days". I left the dealership and drove it the 35 miles home. By the time I got home the noise was worse than ever. My husband hauled the car back to the dealership 08/11/08 (all tow drivers picked by roadside assistance wanted at least $100 over the $100 daimler warranty pays). The car sat there for a week and when I tried to p/u a rental car 08/15/08, the service manager stated that my car was drivable even though they had just ordered new lifters. He also told this to daimler so they would only pay for 5 days rental which of course did not cover the full time they took to complete the repairs on 08/22/08. The noise was gone when I got it that day. On 09/06/08 the noise started again and is now in the shop (a different dealership this time) for the 3rd time in a month for the same problem.
