1 Transfer Case problem of the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 06/16/2016

Takata recall. My husband was driving it on Friday and made a noise, thought it was tire brought to tire place and they stated that the transfer case has cracks in it. We had the transfer case go bad in November 2015 and replaced it with a cost of over $2,000. 00. Now the transfer case cracked and Chrysler is saying that it has a 3yr 100,000 warranty on it and we took it to a dealer under their instructions, and the dealer called and said that it is not covered because the tires are off 1/8" of an inch which made it crack, never in my life have I heard that tires being low on pressure or worn cause pieces of your car to crack!! this needs to be investigated immediately.

Failure Date: 02/13/2016

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving approximately 80 mph, the transfer case failed and disconnected from the motor. The driver side, steering wheel, and front passenger side air bags deployed with force. There was a white substance that emitted into the interior of the vehicle, which affected the four occupants in the vehicle. The force of the air bag deployment hindered the vision of the driver and front passenger. The driver, front passenger, and two rear passengers were uninjured. The insurance company stated that they would not cover the repair because there was no crash. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a third party technician who diagnosed the vehicle. Neither the insurance company nor the manufacturer repaired the vehicle. The contact was to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic for further inspection and repair. The failure mileage was not available.

Failure Date: 09/11/2010

This is in regards to a 2004-2005 awd Chrysler Pacifica. There is TSB 21-020-05 out on the transfer case (ptu). This vehicle had approximately 40,000 miles on it when the problems started occurring. Chrysler recommends replacing the ptu if making noise. Chrysler was contacted on this problem by the consumer, and was denied any assistance in repairing this problem. They site it as normal wear and tear of a vehicle. With such low mileage on a major component on a vehicle, this seemed to be an easy way out for Chrysler to pass this problem off to the consumer. Chrysler also states that unless you are the original owner, the 75,000 mile warranty is void. Considering how many vehicles are on a lease, this would be a very large number. This leaves many people in an unsafe condition that Chrysler has shrugged off. . Read more...
