Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chrysler Pacifica based on all problems reported for the Pacifica.
Two issues. First, when accelerating, sometimes the transmission disengages for about 1-2 seconds and then reengages and causes a sudden jerk motion forward. Happens 3-4 times a month. This will happen on both city streets and highways. This has started over 3 years ago. Second, the engine will stall/shut off at random times on city streets. It occurs when going over a speed bump and also occurs when making a u-turn. It takes quickly shifting back to park, then pressing brake and start button to start back up. This has started happening within the last 3-6 months.

At 10mph decelerating to stop light. Engine shutoff. On restart error message appeared _service shifter. No lights on shifter designating gear in use was able to return to Chrysler service. Replacing shifter. Previously there have been instances when doors opened while car was at 30 mph. That was corrected with new locking computer. Several times the transmission would not shift into drive when car was started. Ignition had to be switched off then on a couple of times before the shifter would work properly. The parking brake would not disengage when car started and brake control button was presseed. Ignition had to be cycled couple of times . Not shifting into drive and failure to disengage brake occurred together frequently but not every time on downhill roads in cruise control at 45 to 55 mph , transmission down shifts so rpm would exceed 3000 and did not immediately upshift when road became flat . Rpm would remain above 3000 for several seconds then return to 1500 rpm. This is a very recent new action. There a disturbing thunk sound and hard jerk when transmission shifts under load at approximately 40 to 50 mph.
Very hard gear shifts at low speed - city driving. Jolt to passengers - feels like a low speed rear end bump. Also, vehicle transmission may not engage when attempting 3 point turn. Unable to move. Check engine light now on with code p0732 - gear 2 incorrect ratio.
From a dead stop, turning left the vehicle accelerated and got "stuck" in gear, the engine was revving but the transmission would not engage the next gear, once I set my foot off the gas pedal and reapplied it, the transmission allowed the gear to shift in, and the vehicle slowly moved up to speed, but still with a slight jerk.
I have experienced sporadic incidents with my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica where when braking to a stop, the engine continues to run at 1500 or so rpm instead of idling down. It requires extremely heavy brake pressure and putting my left foot on the brake so that I can tap the accelerator with my right foot. That will disengege the transmission and cause the engine to idle down. During these incidents the automatic engine shut-off when the care is braked has not been disengaged the dealer has not been able to locate any codes or dupicate the problem. In summary, it is an accident waiting to happen.
Zf 9 speed transmission suddenly disengages at slow speeds passenger sliding door slow and rough when opening.
At times when I step on the gas to accelerate the transmission does not always engage properly and it slips causing a delay in taking off. I have had it back to the dealer for all upgrades or reprograms for this problem and yet the problem still persists. The other day I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a highway on which there was oncoming traffic. I stepped on the gas and the transmission did not engage properly and then the car did not accelerate as it should have which then caused the oncoming traffic to have to break in order to avoid hitting me. Thankfully, that vehicle was able to stop before hitting me, but I am fearful that one day I will be in a situation where I won't be so lucky when the transmission does this. This has also happened to me when I have had to slow down while on an interstate or highway and then had to accelerate to resume traveling with the other vehicles on the road. At times when the slippage occurs the transmission shifts very hard which is quite alarming.
