1 Water Pump problem of the 2008 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/06/2017

We have replaced the motor mounts around 50,000, we replaced the engine at 66,000, and I was driving it today and my steering locked up on me. We have issues with the lights, and just had the timing chain and water pump replaced. I recently just put around $6,000. All issues happened while the car was in motion on a city street.

2 Water Pump problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 02/29/2016

Purchased 2005 Chrysler Pacifica limited 4 years ago. Currently 109,000 miles. . Had been hearing a clunky noise for a short time took it in to get checked😔 mechanic came back with ghastly news. Tie rods, bushings, water pump, rear axle shaft oilseal and worst of all cradle was rusting through. Over $7000. 00 to fix all. I thought I would faint. No way could I do all the repairs. Upon reading all complaints Chrysler should fix the rustimg problem. Shame on them for letting these cars on the road knowing this could happen to families purchasing their vehicles and possibly having a fatal accidemt occuring when the engine falls out.

3 Water Pump problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 02/21/2014

While starting to accelerate going onto the expressway, the vehicle just stopped. There was power from the battery but the car just stalled. It was horrible winter weather with extreme cold temperatures so the car was towed to a reputable nearby auto repair. It took two days but they found the problem to be a bolt on the water pump that had sheared off flying into the engine which in turn destroyed the timing chain and the entire engine. I called Chrysler in an attempt to find out if this had been another issue with the 2005 Pacifica model but their response was asking me if we had it towed to an authorized dealer. The engine had to be rebuilt which was our only cost saving option but the mechanic that worked on the car stated he had never in all of his years in the business seen a bolt shear off of a water pump inside the engine and it should never have happened. Chrysler told me to take the defective parts to an authorized dealer who confirmed that it shouldn't have happened but when I called Chrysler back with the findings from the dealer, all they said was that they would make note of the problem and present it to a committee for review. While this vehicle was still under warranty we had to have the back end seal replaced 3 or 4 times which kept breaking until Chrysler finally agreed to replace the whole back end without explanation as to why it kept happening. There seems to be a problem with this make and model which I believe could case injury if the vehicle were to stop in heavy traffic without warning. We were out of state when this happened and our son was returning the vehicle to our home ( an approx. 10 mile trip from west bend WI. To jackson WI) after having new tires put on it at our request.

4 Water Pump problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/14/2013

A week ago I smelled an awful burning smell coming from my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. I took it to the mechanic for investigation and repairs needed. The car needed an alternator, water pump and serpentine belt. While they were fixing this problem I told them to investigate the rattling noise coming from the frontend. They found that the engine cradle was rusting away. The garage suggested that I contact Chrysler as this is a known problem with Pacificas but it has not been recalled. I did my research and found that there are extended warranties being offered for this issue. I called Chrysler directly and they told me because I was the second owner of the vehicle and they didn't know how the vehicle was treated and because of the mileage, they would not assist me in any way. Keep in mind I am a student and now have a car that is unsafe and Chrysler could care less!! the fight does not end here. Please contact me if you are having the same problem and what your outcome has been.
