Wife stated that she went to her car to leave from work and once she got close to the vehicle the horn began blaring non stop, wipers running, fluid spurting out, dash lights going on and off and door locks going up and down. I arrived and removed the battery cable and it stopped. I replaced the cable a short time later and was able to start the vehicle and I started driving it home and as I got up to about 30 mph it did it again and this time the car cut off and I lost steering and brakes but was able to come to a stop on the side of the busy street I was on. I removed the key from the ignition and got out of the vehicle at which point I noticed that the car had cut back on and was actually running without the key in the ignition. I drove it home without further incident. At 3 am the same night we were awakened by the vehicles horn blaring in the driveway. I went outside and it was doing the same thing that my wife originally stated but the car was actually running without a key being anywhere near it - we do not have the remote start installed on the vehicle. My wife and I refuse to drive it due to the fact that if the above problems happen at 70 mph we would probably be dead.
My wife went to the car to unlock it the horn began blaring, locks going up and down, lights flashing, wiper fluid spraying everywhere, and the car actually started up w/o the key in the ignition and we do not have a remote starter on the vehicle. I arrived and removed the battery cable and it all stopped. After a few minutes I replaced the cable and was able to start the vehicle without incident. I was driving it home at approximately 65 mph and the vehicle suddenly started doing the same thing but the car cut off and I lost all steering and braking ability but was able to coast to the side parkway I was on. I removed the cable and replaced it and drove home without incident took the key out but the van would not shut off. One night of the issue we were awakened by the vehicles horn and when I went outside it was doing the same thing and the car was running in the driveway. She refuses to drive it and now we are stuck with a useless vehicle sitting in the driveway. . Fed up with this situation there needs to be someone held accountable, dealership was no help at all!! " they say the don't know what the problem is how can that be !?????? seeing that there are thousands of van owners like me with the same problem!!!!!.
The check engine, brake warning, and low fuel light stays on all the time. The gas gauge reads empty all the time. The side door close buttons do not work and something is draining my battery (I even purchased a new battery and it still happens). I have to disconnect the battery cable every time I'm done driving for the day or it won't start the next day. I can't get this vehicle inspected with the check engine light on. The part has been on back order for weeks.
While waiting on my husband to run in a store I was sitting in the van engine running. I touched nothing and the van went off. The doors locked, wipers , cleaning fluid, horn and it was scary. My husband released the hood and disconnected the battery cable. We could not start van without all going off again. We called a tow and van taken to auto repair shop. They checked it out and said it needed a new safety electronic component. They said van was to dangerous to drive, and it would take 3 months for the part. It is now in our garage with battery disconnected. This is our only way of transportation and what are we to do now? how are we to get to appointments, grocery and whatever? ## VIN passed ## Chrysler van 2008/town & country ##.
When opening door after unlocking and disengaging alarm, horn abruptly comes on continuously and wipers start. Pulled battery cable to shut off. Imagine if I had been driving and this happened. Could have caused a crash with me or others. Afraid to even drive it to the dealer for repair. What if it locked my child in the car in the summer heat? this should be a mandatory recall immediately!!!!!.
Windshield wipers going without being turned on; washer fluid continually spewing out; horn honking continually; lights flashing on and off; doors locked. While driving to the dealership, van stalled in traffic. Finally was able to get it there with the engine running and the key off. Could be a very dangerous situation if vehicle caught fire due to electrical problems and I am unable to get out because the doors are locked and the knobs are down in the door so you can't pull them up to escape. It was like the vehicle was possessed. I purchased this vehicle for my mother to drive and I am afraid for her to use it. The dealership kept it for a day and said it would need a tipm, but it was on back order and wouldn't be in until possibly 1-3 months. Ridiculous! they can make several vehicles in one day and can't a part for 1-3 months. They said we probably shouldn't drive it. That's certainly inconvenient for us since we don't have extra vehicles. While the vehicle was sitting in my driveway, all of the same things happened again-horn honking, windshield wipers going, washer fluid spilling out, doors locked-while it was just sitting in my drive. We were told to unhook the negative battery cable. Something needs to be done about this issue because apparently I am not the only one with this problem as noted in other entries listed. We have not had a crash, fire or injury/fatality as of yet, but I want the problem resolved before that happens!!!.
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town and country. The contact was driving approximately 60 mph when the vehicle lost coolant fluid and the brakes failed. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer yet the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was taken to second dealer where the front brake rotors and pads were replaced. The failure recurred one month later. The contact stated the brake pads and rotors were replaced three times to no avail. The contact stated that both sliding doors would become jammed and he would have to remove the battery cable to restart the computer for the doors to close properly. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 19,000 and the current mileage was 53,000.
