When driving in a parking lot of a grocery store, my van's cluster board started going haywire, illuminating all warning lights, turning wiper blades on without them being on, opening windows. Turned van off and waited a few minutes and everything was back to normal. Next day it did it again when driving down the road at 55 mph. Took it to the mechanic and it did it for him. He believes it has to do with the wiring in sliding door, which does have a recall but not for my particular van. If my 2008 town and country could also catch fire at the wiring harness, it needs to be included in the recall. Either way, it is extremely unsafe to be driving at 55 mph and have everything start to go haywire in your car. I'm afraid to drive it. This problem absolutely needs to be looked into and at the least, give the consumers a reason for it and a repair solution that doesn't cost them thousands of dollars to try and troubleshoot.
Wiring running at both back doors get caught up in door track and break. This causes windows and doors electrical systems to malfunction. Speedometer is not working along with mileage. This kills battery requiring you to jump vehicle often. This has occurred in the past year, losing different things as time goes by.
The wiring harness in my minivan broke, causing the wires to become pinched and sever. While trying to remedy the problem we became aware of a safety recall on the same part. When I took my vehicle to bernard's in new richmond WI. I was told that the recall work had already been done (obviously not correctly, if the same problem occurred) and the recall was closed. I firmly believe that this would not/ should not occur without default. I fear fire with my children/ grandchildren in the car. . .

The vehicle went back to normal but the electrical system went crazy again before they finally arrived home. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was old and offered no further help. The VIN tool did not pull up any recalls. Tl the contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that there was an internal wiring failure within the sliding doors on the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle. I am a victim of these electrical issues with the 2008 t&c like hundreds of others. Driving the car lights will flash on and off, wipers will come on and some times the car stops running. Here is another complaint from another owner, same symptoms, and we're not alone. Somebody is going to get killed. Recall!? complaint - electrical system, exterior lighting, visibility wiper the following has been happening for over a week now. When starting my vehicle, the wipers independently turned on, the headlights flashed every time the wipers where deployed independently. The wiper and light on/off was checked. Turned off and on, and still both items flashed, and swiped by themselves. January 29th, operator was driving 25 mph, all dash lights blinked, including but not limited to, esp, brake, engine, and airbag lights, airbag light remained on, wipers deployed and rpm gauge reduced to 0 for 5 seconds. Pulled over turned ignition off, opened door, shut door restarted vehicle. The above repeated itself, with more errors, now the driver window controls did no longer work. This happened repeatedly for 5 full minutes before resuming normal operation. It seems it could be related to a wiring harness issue, or leaking door seals letting the wires get wet and short out. We need help.
Same as complaint NHTSA id number: 10496186 and NHTSA id number: 1049507. The problem was a defective wire harness in the drivers side door. My vehicle had the air bag light intermittently going on/off in addition the these issues stated in these two complaints. I called Chrysler then took it back to the dealer and said to re-check safety recall k25 which I already have had completed that had caused the air bag light to go on/off . As it turns out, because the drivers side electric door locks and window switches did not work, the mechanic found the wiring harness in the drivers side door was defective and replaced it. Now all the crazy flashing air bag light, dashboard warning lights, windshield wipers, interior lighting, ect ect have stopped. My 2008 town and country had the wiring harnesses recalled for the sliding side doors and I already had those harnesses replaced. This driver door harness problems were much worse because I never knew if the air bag had failed or was working properly. Everything works ok now that the driver side door wiring harness was replaced.
Our 2008 Chrysler Town & Country leaked water from a manufacturer defect in the ac drain tube, rotted the carpet and underlay, filled the wiring harness under the passenger carpet with water. The drain tube was replaced under a recall. The ac started to blow hot air. The dealer said it was the ac compressor so we had it replaced. $ 800. This did not fix the problem so they said it needed the ac pressure switch and harness so we replaced it. $400. This still did not fix the problem so the Chrysler dealer then diagnosed the tipm. After $ 1200 we still have no ac. We have another $ 500 to pay if we can ever get the part. The whole problem is from the water from the defective drain tube shorting the electrical system and Chrysler know it. The dealer said the tipm was on back order and there were 600 others ahead of us. We contacted Chrysler but they are just giving us the run around. We bought Chrysler to support american jobs. What a grave mistake.
