Slowing down when approaching toll booth at night in main lane when van dies and will not start. Everything went dead (including hazard lights). Lucky we didn't get hit! toll road authority truck pushed me to shoulder. After an about an hour, the van started.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

The vehicle was parked inside our attached garage. I went through the garage when going out to work in the yard. The vehicle was not running at the time. When I returned to the garage 5 minutes later to get an extension cord I discovered the van was running and the doors were locked, it appears it remote started without a request for remote start. Neither key fob was in a purse or pocket at the time. I had to run into the house to get my key fob that was located in the bedroom to shut the vehicle down. The other key fob was on the kitchen counter and had not been disturbed. The van would have kept running could have filled our home with carbon monoxide. Both our kids were inside napping at the time and their mother was inside the house nowhere near either key fob.

39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2015

The van would stop at low speeds with loss of steering and braking power. No codes would be triggered, it was as if the ignition was just turned off while driving. The electrical power would still be on like the radio and instrumentation panel but the steering and braking would tighten up; very scary feeling. It has happened to my wife driving the kids eight to ten times and myself two times. The dealer said the ignition recall would take care of the problem but I think it is something else (took dealer 6 months to get the part in after our first incident). It got so bad that my wife would have me warm up and drive the van around before she would use it. After my experiences with the issue my procedure to her is to place the transmission in neutral while the van is still rolling and restart the car (this is only in the case of possibly being rear ended). Also, the traction control light would flicker right at engine cut off but no engine light. Five days before the appointment for the recall, my wife with kids and parent were in the van entering an on-ramp to the freeway when the engine cut off again causing the van to rear end the car in front. The accident totaled the van even though the speed was around 8mph; no airbag deployment. Chrysler opened an investigation but found no evidence of any failure from the vehicle. How can they find anything when no codes are triggered when the engine cuts off?.

We took our two vans in for re-call repairs and the vans started to work poorly, we think that the dealer can not be truthed do right by us,finding problems or leaving us with problems that did not acure before taking to the dealer's shop for recall services I believe it's all about the money. What can we do now?.

My van shut off on interstate 94 right before the bridge between bismarck, nd and mandan, nd this was not the first time this has happened. All the lights on the dashboard start flashing and then the horn toots and then the wipers start up and then it dies. Sometimes we can sit there for a while and then it will start up again and go a little ways again. . This is a handicapped van and luckily my son was not with me this time. He has been with me before and we can't find a another handicap van to get us home. It has been in the shop to be fixed but it still happens. I really need this fixed. .

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

I received a recall notice for my 2008 Chrysler town and country back in may of 2015. The recall number is r03 and has to do with the wireless ignition node module. I have been on a "waiting list" with my local Chrysler dealership in titusville FL for months and every time I call I am still "number 6 on the waiting list". I am concerned for the safety of myself and my family. It is not logical that the dealership has receive zero parts for this important recall in all these months. Please assist.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2015

The 3. 8l engine in the van uses 1 qt of oil every 1,000 miles. It has been doing it since we bought the van. Mechanic checked it out and there is nothing wrong and said it's "normal. " it shouldn't be normal for a 2008, that is a problem from 1968! concern for running out of oil and blowing an engine causing an accident.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2015

Incident with Chrysler Town & Country 2008 2/9/15 between 4:26-4:29 p. M. Driving slow after just having gotten a green light (25mph or less) hit a big bump in the road. Every light on the dashboard lit up and I felt the engine lose power. The van coasted for a couple seconds then seemed to gain power back. Went around a bend in the road slowly and the engine lost all power. It did not come back at all this time. I tried to use the turn signal to get turn into a parking lot. Signal did not work. Neither did power steering. I could not get van to turn into parking lot. There was a moving vehicle behind me and a parking lot full of cars to my left. I found the automatic brakes were not working. I turned the steering wheel hard to the right to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle and thankfully the van coasted into a snow bank which stopped it from moving any farther. Turned on the hazard lights. I was able to get the van into park and make sure it really was not going anywhere. I took the keys out of the ignition and waited just under a minute. I decided to put the key back in the ignition and see if I could get the van to start. It started without any noticeable problems?! car ¿key attached to key ring with other keys. Did not receive a notice in the mail about recall. Looked up possible recalls after the fact and yes, there is one. And it is much more serious than Chrysler lets on. Tried to contact Chrysler by phone several times and can't get through. If this had happened in one of many other places I had been driving that day the accident could've been fatal.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2015

L25 recall. Ignition failed three times no parts to fix yet. No other keys on fob last time it turned off. Key is loose in the ignition (per the local Chrysler service mgr). Engine turned off three times while drive without touching the key. Happened three time at different speeds first time at 45 miles per hour car just stopped in the middle of the road. . Once faster, once slower. My 22 year old daughter was driving the car all three times. All the lights on the dash come on and she said the steering would not work and the brakes did not work. She called crying the first time from the middle of the road did not know what to do. Engine had stopped. (no codes showed on diagnostic computer when dealer charged for the diagnostic) she ended up in the middle of the road stopped. Engine did restart all three times. Local Chrysler dealer could not get to duplicate even though the said they drove car 4 or 5 times. (even though they said they drove it 4 or 5 times, no miles were put one the van while in the dealership. Even the $115 diagnostic charge from the dealership showed no miles were put on the van). They charged because they said they could not confirm it was the l25 recall which they have no parts to fix yet. The local Chrysler dealer said they ran a diagnostic for $115 that showed no computer codes which the service manager said sounds like the ignition recall symptoms, but still charged me because they could not get it to duplicate at the dealership. (I did not know a safety recall had to be duplicated to get work done without charging) the local chyrsler dealership said that it should be safe to keep driving, they could not find anything wrong with it. My 22 daughter is scared to death of the van but is having to keep driving it.

50 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

My son and a friend took my car to a movie. The car suddenly quit running while driving on a residential street at approximately 25mph. There have been two recalls on the vehicle concerning the win module and win module detents. In 2010 I experienced the same exact issue, had the car towed to a dealership and they supposedly fixed the problem. This recent incident was exactly like the first. The dealership is refusing to replace the module and wants me to pay $600 to have it fixed. The car will not start without this repair. I am at wits end wondering why it is my responsibility to pay for a known safety issue repair.

51 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

This is in ref to recall l25. My car over the past 3 weeks is consistently shutting off while driving at least 1x per day. I have almost been in 4 accidents as a result. One time it happened as I was entering a busy interstate. Chrysler has not eta on the piece to fix the car. I called and they said to call you. I transport a special needs child daily and this is getting ridiculous. I have been on busy main roads, on side roads and driving around a traffic circle and the ignition slips out of the on position, motor dies, I lose power steering and brakes and airbags. I have all keys removed from the key fob and it happens on a daily basis. I will leave the parking deck at my work today and it will shut off going down the ramp and I struggle to steer, stop, put car in park, restart and continue on. . . Hoping I don't get hit or that I hit someone else. I need a temporary car until they can fix this. My key fob sits in the key hole lose and the littlest of bumps throws turns off my car. I either need resolution ASAP or another car until fixed. If I have an accident then we will see what an attorney has to say. This recall occurred months ago and Chrysler is yet to fix it.

54 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

While driving the van stopped working, instrument panel lit up, ac and radio turned off, steering locked and brakes did not work. Contacted local dealership they were unable to diagnose after 2 days. Took it home and same thing happened on 7/11/14. Brought to non-dealership mechanic who is looking into steering column/electrical problem but still nothing after 3 days. I have an extended warranty on vehicle so plan to submit expenses to Chrysler.

The engine light has come on off 4 times since June 2014.

56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2014

A few months ago I started having a problem with turning my ignition to the "off" position - it would only go as far as the "acc' position. I turned the van back on, put the van in drive and back into park again thinking I didn't engage the park all the way. Nothing. So I did it again, and again, and again. It finally went to the off position. At first this was happening once in a while. Then after about a month of that, it started happening maybe half the time and now it happens closer to 75% of the time. What happens if the key goes into the "acc" position while I driving? will the same thing happen to the van as it did with the gm vehicles? I could lose steering and brakes and my airbags wouldn't work? I need this problem fixed ASAP. I should also tell you that there is only one other key on the key ring with the van key. I am very afraid for my safety and the safety of others on the road and my family while we're in it.

57 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

58 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2014

I was driving on a NY highway at 60 mph when my car suddenly shut off and the ignition turned to the acc position. I had my child in the back seat and we narrowly escaped an accident. I brought the car to my Chrysler dealership and paid $800 for a clockspring which I was told would prevent this from happening again. It just happened again 3 weeks ago. This time I was in rush hour traffic and almost caused a multiple car collision. I had no control over steering wheel or brakes. The car completely shuts off. I called Chrysler and they said "wow, I never heard that before". Really?? because models 2009-present have been recalled for this exact issue yet you have no idea what I'm talking about. My car was at the dealership again for 11 days and I was told they don't know what the problem is either. I spent $900 on a rental for that waste of time. These 2008 cars need to be recalled before someone gets killed. I do believe it will happen soon because this is a scary situation to be in.

59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2014

As I was driving 65 mph, the minivan just completely shut off (engine and dashboard). The speedometer dropped to zero, the car began to shake and I had to cut through high speed traffic (with my kids in the car) to safely get over to the side of the road. I put the car in park and then the gear shift became stuck in park. I had to shut off the car for 5 minutes, restart and the car was fine. I am terrified to drive this car with my two small children. I am the original owner and never had this happen before. From what I have read online this is common with Chrysler. When I called Chrysler in mi the customer rep replied "OH wow, I've never heard that before". If you do a search online this has affected many car owners. There needs to be a recall before someone gets into a serious accident. If this happens again I will contact legal representation.

61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2013

I was driving to the store at approx. 40 mph when all of a sudden I noticed my dashboard and my fuel gage went down , my speed dropped I didnt know what was happening . My car was slowing down but since I was going downhill I coasted. I realized my engine had shut off. I panicked but thankfully thought to turn the ignition switch and the car turned back on. I thought it was a fluke. But this issue has occurred several times while driving. The same scenario. I realized by just bumping the key it turns off the engine. If I turn my ignition and if I don't hold it long enough, it will move back to off position. I mean I barely bump it and it can turn off. It has happened while driving at least 4 times. I have not gone to my Chrysler dealership because I didnt want to pay an out of pocket expense and I no longer have the warranty on it.

62 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2013

About to get onto a major highway when smoke started to come from under the hood. Pulled over to a gas station and found antifreeze sprayed over the entire engine compartment. Mechanic at the garage found that the rear coolant heater hose was cracked where it attaches to the engine. He said the y design is a bad flaw and very common. He said no reason with only 58,500 miles should that have cracked already. Van had to be towed 32 miles to the nearest Chrysler dealership, van is still under extended warranty.

63 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2013

My 2008 Chrysler Town & Country loses power when starting car but also when driving in normal roadway conditions. No other keys are on the key ring. I have had it at the dealer 3 times for loss of power issues. First time the wen module was replaced when car would lose power while driving and had trouble re-starting. Repair seemed to help for about two months but then car lost power but would restart once car came to a stop. First time at dealer was told car would not cooperate and they could not get the car to stop when they drove it and no error code. I specifically asked about the ignition and was told it was definitely not the ignition. Was told to bring it back if it happened again - it had happened everyday the previous week including 3 times in one day. Took the car back and was told they found the problem and repaired but lost power on way home. Will be trying a different dealer in the next couple days but car lost power again today. Fortunately, no accident yet but am extremely careful when driving and am limiting my driving to essential short trips. The car makes a click when loss of power and key is no longer in "on" position. Seems to me like the ignition. I told the dealer what it does.

Van shuts down while driving. Loses power brakes and power steering. This has happened at least 5 times in past two years.

66 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2013

Heater hose started leaking antifreeze on engine making the car smoke really bad. Took it to our mechanic and he looked at it and said "you don't even need to show me. . . It is the heater hose. I can't even tell you how many of these we have done. We actually just finished one up yesterday. " seems to be a really big problem with these vehicles and nothing is being done about it.

67 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

My van will just turn itself off while you are driving and you lose all power steering and etc. We have had it to the dealership 3 times. I believe it should be included in the ignition switch recall but I have contacted the Chrysler 1-800 number and contacted them thru their website and they won't help me. The representative thru their 1-800 number wants me to pay to take it to another Chrysler dealership and pay them to look at it after I have already paid $800 to my local one to have a switch replaced that did not fix the problem.

68 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2013

This van has been shutting down while driving to often now. It is now a case number with Chrysler but no one has solved the problem it is now back in the dealer for the 4th time on this incident. We experienced more than once very near accidents on busy roads. Too dangerous to drive. I can't believe the amount of problems with these Chrysler's shutting down and from what I reviewed on line there are different years involved. I have the 2008 one and they recalled the 2009 ones. But I really think they need to re do the e2008 from the amount of people I have read reviews on. All owners of 2008. Very serious issue.

69 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

The keys system would not lock/unlock the car consistently. Manual operation of unlocking/locking the car was the work around. Subsequently the ignition or wireless remote system has gone bad which now affects the igntion displaying a "bad key" and solution is to replace the entire wireless remote system. The wireless remote system controls the ignition, the doors, the engine.

70 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2013

Faulty transmission. Constantly hard shifts everywhere. Feels like the transmission is going to fall out of the vehicle every time you shift from reverse to drive ,or drive to park, or park to reverse. This is the second transmission on this vehicle. . I had the powertrain checked and the vehicle came out with no problems. Im afraid that I will be in an accident the vehicle shakes and stops abruptly while driving.
