1 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2019

Van will switch off while driving down the road causing power steering, power brakes, and airbags to shut off. This happens intermittently. My van is a 2010 but for some reason not covered under a Chrysler recall to replace the win module. I currently have van at Chrysler dealer and having repair completed on my own dime. This recall should be extended to cover all Chrysler vans manufactured in the 2010 model year. The key fob will be in the ignition but the ignition switch is faulty and switches the motor off. Van will restart if you put it in neutral and turn the switch back on. Very unsafe.

2 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2019

Vehicle has been losing power suddenly, without warning for several months. The issue occurs at various speeds, road conditions, after various running times. When power is lost the lights fail to operate, the engine completely stops, signals dont work, steering is minimal. We have almost been in several accidents. The dealership it was taken to only provided a failing egr valve as a diagnosis with an estimate of over $700. However, research did not indicate that would resolve the sudden shut-off. I took it to a private garage after noticing the engine tended to shut down when the keys seems to be touched. I was able to replicate the issue reinforcing my assumption. The shop replaced the ignition module (as has been recalled with other town and country vehicles) and I have not had a single issue. The failing ignition module has been an issue in thousands of vehicle and this should be included.

6 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2018

My exact year make and model of van had a recall for the win module because of ignition problems. Because my VIN number didn't fall into those affected by the faulty win module, they will not take care of it. The van will fail to turn over or start completely or will start and then shut off leaving my family stranded. Chrysler is this exact issue with the same other vans included in the recall and needs to include the others affected by it. I've personally replaced the alternator, battery, and key fob and have come to realize it's the win module that was recalled for these same exact issues on other vans.

7 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2017

I purchased this car two years ago with a limited mile warranty. A month later the ignition module went, we are constantly taking the car to have breaks front and back and rotors repaired every month on the vehicle. We were given a false carfax report as well. If that wasn't enough there was a faulty spark plug which cost me 800. 00 to remove the head gasket to replace the plugs that were never replaced and had dry rotted. This occurred in July of 2017 after I spent 3k in rental cars to get to and from work. On 8/4/2017 the thermostat blew which cost 200. 00 to repair now the catalyct converter is gone and on 8/5/2017 the car was acting possessed. I came outside side to start the vehicle and noticed the windshield wipers were going off and the car smelt as if it were burning. They keys were not in the vehicle. I need help I have a family size of 6 with small children that ride in this unsafe vehicle every day. It is our only means of transportation to and from work and additionally I pay a monthly car payment of $410. 00 not including insurance.

8 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2017

The engine of my 2010 Chrysler town and country shut off while traveling on the highway at a speed of approximately 60mph. It has happened two other times at lower speeds while in town. The issue left me and my family in danger of a highway collision. This problem appears to be with the ignition switch spontaneously dropping into accessory mode which matches a recall for the same issue in other town and country's very close to the date of manufacture of mine. That recall was 14v373. My van was manufactured four months after the recall window relating to the ignition switch issue which subsequently disables the airbags and other safety equipment. The specific part that was the issue in 14v373 and what I believe to be the issue here is the win module.

9 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2017

At a slow speed of about 5 to 10 mph, my vehicle would shut off leaving me with no power brakes, power steering, and in the path of cars behind me almost hitting me as well. It always happens when I am turning left or right at a slow speed. I have had the wireless ignition control module, battery, and key fob replaced already by the dealer.

10 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2017

While driving down a busy 5 lane road around rush hour with my three children in the vehicle, the town and country lost power. Twice. This caused me to have to avoid other cars and find a way to restart the vehicle to ensure we did not cause an accident. When we had the van checked out, it was found that we had a faulty wireless ignition module (win module). This part was replaced in my make and model vehicle under a recall by Chrysler, but we were informed that our VIN did not match those manufactured in the time period attributed to the recall. We are requesting that Chrysler expand the recall of the win module to include the full model year. This was a very scary incident for my family, and with it being an identified problem already, I find it hard to swallow that we were forced to pay to replace a part Chrysler knew to be faulty.

11 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2016

While driving along, the vehicle shuts off. The key is in the still ignition, and I am able to put the vehicle in the neutral position and restart the vehicle. Between my wife and this event has occurred at least eight times since the vehicle was purchased. In each case the vehicle was in motion, and the shutoff has occurred on city streets as well as the highway. My 1st occurrence happened while I was turning right. I believe that the wireless ignition node(win) module is the cause of the shutoffs but it may be caused by a problem with the fuel system. Regardless of the cause, the engine shutting down while moving is a safety issue and dangerous. The appropriate recalls are: l02, l25 and r03.

I have two recalls on this vehicle for the same thing (r03). One in may and one in December for the wireless ignition node module. I have contacted the dealer many times and told that Chrysler is not sending them the parts. I went from seven(7) on their list to fix it on 11-2-15 to 10 on their list on 12-28-15. Another dealer in the st. Clair/port huron, michigan area told me I would be 200 on their list. The national highway traffic safety admin. Does not care if we get killed or not. 21 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2015

My 2010 Chrysler town and country was taken into a Chrysler dealership for a routine repair in 2011. During that repair visit, the dealer checked for any open recalls and performed NHTSA campaign number: 11v139000. I never had the condition this safety recall was intended to repair. . . Until they performed the recall. When I went back to complain. . . I was told the recall could not be "un-done" by law. Over time, this ignition switch became even worse, so that it became extremely difficult to turn the key (the design of this "key" is actually the square-ish plastic tip of the Chrysler key fob rather than a traditional key. . . There is no actual key in this design. . . The fob itself is required to turn the ignition switch). This has, over time, destroyed both original keys. When I recently was forced to replace (over $200) my last functioning key so I could operate the vehicle, the new key made the turning of the switch even more difficult due to a newer design. I contacted Chrysler, they had the dealer re-perform the "detent-ring" install for 11v139000. . . This changed nothing. Chrysler then had the dealer order a new "win module" to fix the issue. . . And offered to reimburse me for my one key I had paid for. While waiting for the win module to arrive at the dealer, Chrysler called me and the dealer the next day to tell me that they had reversed their decision. . . That my case with them (Chrysler case id# 26457034) would be referred to their internal "special tracking unit" and that this recall was being expanded (I assume this is for 14v373000) and they'd let me know if the situation changed. Meanwhile, I continue to drive a car that has the safety issue still. . . And it's ruining my new $200 key. Since the condition allows air bags to be deactivated and the engine to cut out unexpectedly, I do not allow anyone else in my family to drive it since 2011. Please make Chrysler fix this.

24 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2014

I had the key fob in the ignition and when I went to turn off vehicle it would not turn off all the way. The key fob seemed to have separated somewhat. I wrestled with getting the vehicle turned off for a while and was finally able to get the key out and the vehicle turned off. When I went to turn the vehicle back on the key fob would not work. There was power to the fob. It would lock/unlock doors and the battery was fine. The key fob would not turn and could not get the car out of park or get the car to do anything. Had the vehicle towed to the dealership. They told me I needed a new win module. This was recalled and fixed in 2012. The dealership said it is not the same problem. I was told on the recall they fixed a component of the win module and now I need a whole new one for $800 and Chrysler will not cover this even though it is the exact same problem that the recall supposedly fixed. Car is only 4 years old with 54,000 miles on it. This should not be happening and Chrysler should fix it. I called Chrysler and it has been assigned to a case manager. We will see what the case manager says. I have read numerous complaints about this problem. For Chrysler to fix a problem on a recall and when that fix obviously did not work because same problem is happening to say it's not the same thing is completely unacceptable.

29 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2013

The ignition key was displaced from run to accessory without being touch. This is identical to the win module recall for this model which we had replaced last year. I have seen the same thing on this site many times. The dealership reports that this is "similar" but not the "same. " if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Please do not let them pull this on the consumer! don't just look at all the complaints and nod your head. Do something!!! we are struggling financially like so many other people and now Chrysler isn't going to honor what really should be part of the recall. Don't wait until there is a crash and death! we were going 70 miles per hour down an interstate and suddenly had not brake lights or turn signal. We were very lucky! we have been told the part is on back-order and will take at least a month! high demand for that part, isn't it???.

35 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2011

On July 13 2011 we purchased a 2010 Chrysler town and country with 28500 miles. Twice this month, my wife was driving our 2010 Chrysler town and country and the engine shut off while she was driving. One of the times it happened while she pulled into a busy street and was very lucky to not have caused an accident. We know that this is an ongoing issue with these vehicles and that a recall has been issued. We took the van to lee automotive in fort walton beach florida, and they said they would take a look at it. 8 hours later I picked the van up. The dealership said they could not duplicate the problem, they test drove it for only 2 miles. They said they looked at the ignition and that the right components are in place. So after 8 hours they did not fix anything. Called Chrysler corp. And they told us that their database shows that our vehicle has not been serviced to close the recall and that it is still showing an open recall suspense. According to the NHTSA recall, they were supposed to replace the win ignition module which they did not do. We have four children and are very scared to drive our van. We do not know where else to turn and are hoping to be pointed in the right direction to resolve this issue and be able to get on the road without fear.
