Vehicle engine shut down while driving in a parking lot preparing to pull onto a 4 lane busy county road, all of the systems other then brakes failing. It was not the key as it remained in the on position never moving. Only happens after using the remote starter. We have since stoped using the remote starter after the 3rd time the issue happened. Past issues. Etc inop. Car would not accelerate past idle today car will not turn over starter will not even click clock losses time intermittent and then we have electrical issues. I guess its Chryslers warning system telling the owner the car is not going to be working in the next 2-3 days head lights occasionaly will not turn on and some times will not turn off car has been into the dealer 8 times for electrical issues and every time they tell me they cannot reproduce the problem and send us on our way after reprogramming the main computer. Every time it apparently is a seperate electrical component. At least that is what they tell us. However it seams to me the computer for the car must be bad and or the software/ programing is severly flawed since it keeps failing. I think Chrysler is pulling a vw scam on the government and its consumers. Fix the problem. We have had nothing but problems since the first month we owned this at the time brand new car. Been in the shop 3 times in the first 6 months for electrical malfunctions and intermittently ever since.
Appears related to NHTSA action number: dp14004 problem: sudden unintended and uncontrollable acceleration sudden unintended acceleration of our 2010 Chrysler town and country touring was experienced on 2 occasions (8/2/14 and 12/5/14) nearly resulting in a serious accident on each occurrence. Both incidents occurred under similar circumstances. While traveling on a freeway @ approximately 65 mph bearing left (either to change lanes or on a curve ) and accelerating, the accelerator pedal drops to the floor with uncontrolled full throttle acceleration. Braking did not stop the acceleration and emergency evasive maneuvers were required to avoid serious accidents on both occasions. Shifting in and out of neutral several times was performed and eventually the accelerator returned to normal operation. I am unsure what caused the unintended acceleration to stop. Key information identical during both incidents: 1. Engine oil was changed within days of each incident. Oil change reminder counter was reset using manufacturer reset procedure. 2. Left turn signal was engaged. 3. Travelling at approximately 65 mph when beginning acceleration (transmission downshifted). 4. Throttle position was approximately 30-40% throttle to accelerate to pass or get up to speed after a curved freeway entrance ramp. 5. Vehicle had been driven for approximately 25 minutes prior to sudden acceleration on each occurrence (however in two completely separate locations). 6. This occurred on 2 occasions with 2 different drivers. 7. Both incidents occurred while on a freeway. 8. Duration of incidents: approximately 10-20 seconds. This appears to be a software bug (I am an it professional and electrical engineer by degree). This needs to be fixed immediately for the safety of my family and the general public.
Have a 2010 town and country. Vehicle stalled for no reason and was taken to dealer. They said they reinstalled software and were going to send paperwork. They have not. Since then the car has stalled six more times and we will be taking it back to dealer. When will Chrysler acknowledge they have a problem?.
We have a 2010 Chrysler t & c purchased new on sept 30 from the local Chrysler dealer. It now has less than 2000 miles on the odometer. Last Thursday evening, Dec 23rd, the battery was totally discharged after setting in the garage about 24 hours. None of the remote buttons were effective, the door had to be manually unlocked with the emergency key, and key placed in the ignition switch would do nothing and could not be removed. I tried to contact the dealer next morning, Dec 24, but found it was closed then and for the next two days. I could not get the car started by jump start and could not get the battery recharged while connected. Finally, I managed to get the battery charged while disconnected. Upon entering the car to start it,prior to inserting the key into the ignition switch, I noticed the heater blower in the second seat area was running. I checked the blower control knob and found it was turned on. I turned the knob to off and back on again. The fan stopped and did not come on back on. The car started normally with no subsequent problems. On Monday, 27th, I took the van the dealer who could not diagnose or fix the problem. The problem was also reported to Chrysler costomer service. No response has been received. Now we have a brand new van that we cannot trust with an apparent computer and/software glitch the dealer cannot diagnose or fix. What should I do now? until this problem is diagnosed and fixed we are hesitant to drive the vehicle. Just about every function, including brakes, accelerator, steering, lights, heating, cooling, gear shift, are computer controlled. Toyota's problems with accelerator and brakes come to mind. The contact requested that the personal information previous entered by him be deleted from the compliant. Vf.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that there was a beeper on the rear lift gate of certain models that was not on his vehicle. The beeper would warn anyone when the gate was going up or down. Since this function was not on his particular model year, he has been injured by the gate coming down on his head. The injury was not serious. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him that he would have to change the software and advised him that the they received a large number of complaints in regards to consumers not wanting the feature, so they did not install it on the 2010 models. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200. The VIN was unavailable.
