36 Body problem of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/12/2022

My back driver side sliding door stopped working and I had to remove my grandchild from the window because the car was loaded and packed for a trip. Then about 5 months after the door stopped my passenger and driverside windows would roll down and immediately back up and then down and not close. This caused extreme cold for passengers in the vehicle since we were driving in bad weather and could not stop to try to get them rolled up. Having only 1 back door that works makes it completely impossible to load and unload my family and it bothers me if there were an emergency and had to exit vehicle I wouldn't be able to get all my grandkids out in a timely manner. When I pull up to a construction zone and have to stop I have to open my door to hear to talk to them which caused them to tell me to stay in vehicle and they get scared for my safety with my door open. I cannot communicate with drive up tellers and it is impossible to order from a drive thru when I have to open door or if I get pulled over by a cop and he tells me to roll window down I have to open door and he takes secure measures thinking I am going to do something bad when I have to talk to him with door open cause windows don't work. Then about 3 months ago the same noise and situation started happening with the back 2nd row windows and therefore I have not been able to use any windows in my van because I am scared they will remain open and my vehicle will be a target for theft or vandalism.

37 Body problem of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

The rear drivers side sliding door no longer functions. The issue began when the door would intermittently make a buzzing sound but would not open or close. Shortly after, the door continued the first issue but also began pulsating when it actually would open. Around the same time these issues began, the door started opening by itself while driving. Though I have not had any accidents yet, several near misses have occurred due to the confusion and stress that this generates. The opening while driving issue occurs most often when on the highway. The primary passengers in the rear are children so there is heightened risk based on their very appropriate age based reaction of panic. The door is also no longer opening electronically from the key fob nor from the front seat buttons.

38 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

My left sliding door just opens at any giving time I have been sitting in my house on several occasions and my neighbors ring my doorbell to tell me my door is open I get out of my vehicle and the door just opens up out of nowhere thats the left sliding door. The right sliding door makes a buzzing sound when I lock it and unlock it. Suppose I have my grandchild in the back when that door just decides to open on it's own.

43 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/26/2021

The rear sliding driver’s side door could not be opened. There was no warning that this would happen. With this malfunction, exiting the vehicle from the back seat would be difficult and possibly life threatening in a crash.

44 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/23/2021

This summer our driver’s side sliding door stopped working. It will not open manually or with the buttons in the car or on the remote. Around the same time, the lock on the passenger side sliding door started to buzz every time it unlocked. This weekend, the passenger side sliding door became stuck closed as well. Neither door is functional. I have a child in a 5 point harness that must be in one of the middle seats. It is very difficult to get her in and out. In the case of an emergency, we would be struggling to get the 4 kids out of the back. I see that you are doing an investigation, so I wanted to be sure and report the problem. We have not pursued a repair yet as it is not in our budget.

45 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/10/2021

The driver side sliding door is stuck in the locked position and will not unlock using the key fob, the door locks on the front doors, the manual door lock on the door itself, or by pulling on the handle to open the door. This door will not open at all and is a very dangerous safety hazard if we were to be involved in an accident or have a vehicle fire and the door cannot be opened. There is no warning notice or error given thru the vehicle's message center on the dash.

46 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

49 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

The sliding door on the driver’s side is stuck and cannot be opened either automatically or mechanically. This is extremely dangerous in event of an emergency.

50 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/03/2021

On 3 July 2021 the driver side rear sliding door became inoperable. The door would not open using either the electronic motor or by manually pulling the handle and sliding the door. The door lock appeared to be jammed in the locked position and could not be unlocked either electronically or manually. Not being able to open the rear door in any manner is unsafe and in the event of an accident would not allow access or egress to passengers in the rear of the vehicle. I had an independent ase certified master mechanic asses the issue. The only way to get the door open was to remove the door panel from the inside and manually push the lock actuator back into the correct position. Upon further inspection and testing it was noted that flipping the child safety lock back and forth several times seemed to have reset the actuator and the lock and door has worked correctly since.

52 Body problem of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/01/2021

The drivers side sliding door of my 2013 Chrysler Town & Country will not open. It is stuck closed. Mechanic says it is a faulty actuator and will require a $700 repair, for one door. An online search revealed that many other consumers are experiencing this same problem. I'd like to hold Chrysler responsible for this repair. I'm concerned that, in an emergency, my children may not be able to get out of the car. And, if the left door is faulty, how long before the part in the right-side door goes out, too? I do not want to be responsible for $1400 to repair faulty manufacturer parts. Please advise!.

53 Body problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/22/2021

When attempting to close the rear sliding doors, they attempt to latch and then fail. If it's hot out the motor will randomly go off and randomly operate. The harness and motors have been replaced and yet it continues.

54 Body problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/17/2021

On warm days, the sliding door on driver's side will not latch when it closes. The door constantly tries to latch shut. After the van has been sitting in a garage, out of the direct sunlight, it is able to latch shut again. This opening and closing occurs while the vehicle is in motion and stopped. Furthermore, there is a seat right next to the door. Thus, this is a safety risk because the unlatched door poses a risk of injury or death during a collision or accident. The Chrysler dealers have not able to solve this issue and there are countless instances online of other van owners reporting the same issue. This is well, documented issue that the manufacturer cannot explain or solve. Please recall the van before someone dies.

55 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/03/2021

The transmission hydraulic pump failed and caused complete failure of the trans at 105000 miles. The rocker arms failed at 97000 miles. The front lower aarm bushings failed at about 60000 miles. The rear slider doors don't lock and when the dealer tried to repair them they made it worse now the windows in those doors are failing. Also a code for thermostat housing popped up after the rocker arm repair. What a terrible vehicle. It's only 5 years old and I'm a stickler about maintenance.

56 Body problem of the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/05/2021

My engine needs to be replace. The dealer says the upper rod has damaged the engine and the engine needs to be replace ($5200. 00). Also, the actuator in the right sliding door had to be replaced.

57 Body problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/01/2021

Driver side rear sliding door became locked and stuck in the closed position. It will not unlock electrically using any button inside the vehicle nor will it unlock using the key fob. The door lock cannot be forcefully disengaged manually either. This creates a great safety hazard because in the event of an accident, the rear passengers can egress only through the right sliding door (or out the back hatch if they are mobile enough to move by themselves). There is much documentation of this in online user forums and on Chrysler's own website, there is no user-level repair or bypass information available. The only available fix is to take it to a dealer for an approximate $1000 repair charge. The vehicle is unsafe without both sliding doors operational and the dearth of information how to fix the issue is worse. Occurred at approx. 110000 miles.

58 Body problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/12/2021

I bought a 2014 town and country from moran Buick dealership in September 2020 by February 2021 I had to replace components in my drivers side window twice due to failure and the window falling in my door. Also noticed a huge oil spot on driveway went to have it checked out and was toild my oil filter housing cracked and it on back order over 4 month. Looking online this is a huge issue. How can I feel safe driving my family in this vehicle with oil leaking out constantly.

59 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/09/2021

Back sliding door inoperable, dealership sold the vehicle this way, neglected to disclose the issue. When we noticed we refused the sale, dealership added to the sale contract that it would be fixed before delivery, vehicle was not fixed before delivery after several attempts, and a third party off site company attempted to fix the issue. Dealership had the vehicle for 36 days before coming to a temporary fix, door still has issues opening and closing. Sometimes won’t open at all or just close instantly after opening pinching/crushing anyone who isn’t fast enough to get out of the way in the door. Door has also come completely off the track at one point. The door will not stop if it starts to close, it will slide closed into you or a child, the censors do not work as designed apparently. I sincerely hope for a fix as I am terrified of my children being trapped in emergency situation, or in general entry exit of vehicle.

61 Body problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/14/2020

The van will just shut off while driving. I have been keeping track in the last 4 months it has shut off completely 32 times while in motions sometimes starting right back up other times takes so cranking to get it to turn over. Last Wednesday 10/14 the car shut off while I was driving my kids to school in a 45 mph zone and the van went right off the road luckily no damage and no one being injures. If that was on the highway it would have been a lot more dangerous. I did some research and found that many of this year have the same problem. Also the sliding power doors will not shut and stay shut without holding them with pressure to close they also will close randomly and almost closed on my 4 year old in it luckily I was able to put my body in the door so she did not get squished. I can give me detail on either if you need any.

65 Body problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/24/2020

The rear sliding doors of my 2012 Chrysler town and country van has issues. When beginning to drive and the doors automatically lock the passenger side door buzzes a warning. Passengers think the door is about to open. Sometimes the fob will and won't lock the door as it should. No consistency to this fob problem but the buzzing occurs every time you put van into gear and begin driving.

66 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/16/2020

The sliding rear doors became stuck and will not open. In the event of an emergency, the children will not be able to exit the vehicle quickly. The problem is confirmed by a dealer. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps or messages.

67 Body problem of the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/28/2020

Rear passenger side door does not latch properly some of the time. Most the times it does it when the vehicle is stationary. But has happened when I hit a bump driving down the road.

68 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/21/2020

Driver side sliding door mechanism would not work using key fob or inside automatic button mounted on inside. Manual lock also would not work. In the event of an emergency or accident we wouldn't have been able to extract our 2-year old grandson quickly as we would have had to get our 5-year old grandson out of his car seat first then crawl over his seat to get his brother out. In an emergency we may not have the time to extract our grandchildren. From research I've done it appears this problem has existed since 2003 & Chrysler has done absolutely nothing to correct this design flaw putting people's lives at risk. I paid over $1,200 to replace the mechanism. In my opinion this is clear negligence by Chrysler/ Dodge. The only saving grace was the repair shop (pep boys) fixed the wrong door, when I complained to their corporate office they agreed to repair the driver's side door. Although, I still had to pay for labor of $457. 00. The first time this happened at our home, had to get the oldest grandson out first, remove his seat then get the 2-year old out. Not easy for a 65 year old with bad knees. If my wife had been alone when this happened she wouldn't have been able to get them out. I hope your agency looks into this before a tragedy befalls someone unable to exit the vehicle due to an obvious that has been ignored for rears.

69 Body problem of the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/15/2020

Driver side sliding door makes a loud buzzing sound while locking or unlocking the vehicle. I was told by the dealership that this is a common problem for this vehicle and an expensive repair (around $650). Eventually the lock will not function at all and you won't be able to lock or unlock the door. This is a life safety issue that should be addressed by Chrysler.

70 Body problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/03/2020

I arrived at work and was going to park in my dedicated parking spot. I had to turn to the left and turned the steering wheel accordingly, but a car was approaching from the front so I stopped and waited for it to pass. I took my foot off the brake pedal and suddenly without any warning the car shot forward as if the gas pedal had been stepped on very hard. I had about 50 feet to the building and was fortunate to be able to correct the steering wheel from the turned position and straighten the wheels to avoid hitting the building full-on. As I hit the side of the building the car came to a stand still, but the engine kept running at full revs. I managed to force the car out of gear, but the engine kept running at high revs. I kept pushing the brake pedal down as hard as I could, and suddenly without doing anything else, the engine returned to normal revs. The car was heavily damaged as was the building. If it had not been that I managed to correct the steering in that short distance, and hit the building full-on, the pillars that hold up the whole front of the buiding would have colapsed on the car. I have done extensive research and have a 9 page printout of exactly the same thing happening to other drivers. This is a tremendous safety issue. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 3 - VIN corrected, error in one position (assuming check digit is correct); 14 - unable to provide information for all the characters in the VIN. #vpic#.
