45 Door problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/22/2009

My right forearm was crushed when the driver's side power sliding door closed on it after encountering an obstruction (a lawn chair). I had pressed the button to open the door, reached around to put a drink in a cooler on the back seat floor, the door ran into a lawn chair and reversed, crushing my arm. Six days later, my arm is still horribly bruised and sore. I had someone take pictures to document this accident. The dealer didn't even know that the side doors have no safety sensors like on the power liftgate. The side power sliding doors should also have safety sensors! if it had been my 2 year old grandson, he'd be dead now!.

48 Door problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/19/2008

The automatic sliding doors the sensors do not do their job!! we questioned this with the salesman upon purchase and we were reassured they work fine then we asked about it after purchase while in for other repairs still reassured they work fine cause "if it doesn't do it while it is here then there isn't anything wrong with it". (that is what the tech's always say when they don't have an answer) we had the worst run in with the electronic doors this morning 6/19/2008! drivers side. I a grown 115 pound 5foot 4 woman was pinned hip to hip my right knee was resting on the floor board facing in the car . While I pushed back to get free the door only made the noises of it trying to open ddd ddd ddd it did not for at least a minute that is a long time to have that continually adding more pressure while the door tried to force itself closed on me as an adult thank god it was not one of my smaller children. I am positive that would have caused extreme injuries on one of them or any child. Im surprised it didn't injure me worse. I was sure the latch had punctured my thigh fortunately it had not. I was left with a good size probably 1 1/2 - 2 in hard lump and a wonderfully colorful bruise and lots of soreness not only to the touch but walking and putting my weight down on my right leg.

49 Door problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/21/2008

I have a 2008 Chrysler town and county that I have had problems with the doors about a month after I purchased it. I had just parked it was christmas eve and the side passenger door opened by itself and my puppy got out in a very busy shopping center. I have gone out to go to work in the morning and the door is open. On Monday, may 21 I came out of work and the back hatch was open. I have made a number of trips to the dealer. They really are not much help. I was told they are having to reprogram the doors and in some cased even put in new rails. Chrysler really has a safety issue with this van.

50 Door problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/03/2008

The sliding doors on my new Mini van don't close properly plus the doors can be open and it lets you drive away. It gives one sound at the beginning. The company does not recognize a problem with one side (even though the other does the same thing and it recognized it-however even after fixed it still does it). They do not recognize the open doors while you drive away thing. When doors are closed, they will not open until car is in park. They should make it so when cars are open, you can not take it out of park.

51 Door problem of the 2000 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/04/2007

The rear door handles are apparently faulty. My mother tried to open the rear drivers side door and the door handle broke off in her hand, then approx. A month later the rear passenger door handle also broke off as I was trying to put my child in the car. No excessive force was used, it appears that the handles are just cheaply made. In order to have them replaced at the dealership, the handles/labor will be $198 each to be fixed, which to me seems incredibly ridiculous considering the parts are cheaply made.

52 Door problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/01/2005

My 2 year old son was exiting our Chrysler Town & Country van when he realized he had forgotten his dvd player in the car. I had already pressed the button to automatically close the door and when he reached in the door closed securely on his fingers. I had to manually open the door and get his fingers released from the door, which were smashed!!! we were promised when we purchased this vehicle that it had a sensor that would not allow for this kind of thing to happen. We have since looked at newer ones, and again have been guaranteed that this is the only minivan that promises to stop the door closing process if something is in it's way!!! with all of these promises, I have to say that when we contacted Chrysler about this, they sent out an inspector that took pictures of the minivan, and experienced not being able to get the door stopped himself. They mailed us a letter about a week or so later that said they were sorry for my childs injured hand, but if you read your owner's manual that it states to be careful when opening or closing the electric doors!!! we have heard of several other cases of this happening, and one was a child's head that got closed in the door. What do we have to do to prevent this from being more serious than a hand!!! Chrysler does not care as long as they're selling cars and putting safety hazards in fine print!!! unfortunately we do not know the exact date of the incident since it did happen 2 years ago, but as you can see we are still very upset about this!!!.

On February 28, we took the van in for oil an change, and reported the door problem, then the service writer said an update to repair was in the works.
