The vans power would flicker on and off multiple times. The windshield wipers would turn on and off. The radio on and off. All dash lights on and off. Then driving 26mph one day it did this and the whole engine shut off with the keys in the ignition while driving. I lost all power, power steering, and brakes! battery was replaced and the issues kept getting worse.

The electrical and engine shut off more than a dozen times over several months, summer, fall and winter, while I was driving in city traffic, with no other known correlations. All electrical systems and power steering and power brakes also ceased to function. This necessitated my placing the transmission into neutral to reengage the ignition, which immediately restarted the engine. . Perhaps also related: after overnight, immediately after engaging the ignition, starter and briefly the engine, the engine shut off when I released the ignition switch. This happened several times in a row. Only recently has this problem first occurred duurinh the several years we have had the car. Only after I engaging the gas pedal while engaging the ignition and increasing the rpms did the engine begin to function normally. This has happened several days when the temperature was about 30�f.

My vehicle shutsdown intermittently right after starting it either remotely or via the key. This tends to happen after the vehicle sits for a bit. The traction control light comes on and the car shuts down - no power steering etc. I just bought this vehicle and have not replaced anything yet. A google search indicates this is a common issue. Any help or direction to resolve the issue would help.

Traction control light came on and engine shut off while driving around 30 miles per hour after just starting about 20 minutes after shut off and listening to radio with key in accessory position lost brakes and steering. Traction control would not come back on till I stopped 10 miles after restarting and turned off. Only came back on with engine not on.

On two occasions while my wife was driving, both times while on a town road, the vehicle shut off almost like the vehicle had its ignition turned off. Total loss of power to everything electrical, loss of power steering and brakes. She was able to get the van pulled over, and once she was on the side of the road, she was able to get it started right away.

I was driving along in motion, an all of a sudden the car just completely shut down. The steering wheel locked up and the brake got tight. Thank god I was on a slow street so I was able to stop the car and put it in park and the car started right back up again. This happened to me once in October and once again a month later in November. In November I was on a regular street in traffic and the car shut down. I was able to put it in park and start it back up again. This is so scary and a safety problem. Thank god I didn't cause an accident.

I was driving yesterday with my 3 kids and the van shutdown without warning at highway speeds. It became a very dangerous event since we did not have breaking and very difficult to steer. After, getting to the shoulder, the vehicle would not start again, although it had a full tank of fuel. The key gets stuck in the on position. And it lock the starter in the ignition phase as if I was holding the key on after the car starts. I cycled the key and noticed that if I held it right, it would not lock the starter in the starting position. However, it would not turn on. I saw there were recalls on this vehicle and one about the ignition.

Traveling around a curve on city street dry pavement at 25mph , without warning all power , steering control, brakes gone. Entire car shut down while in motion, ran off road, no brake control, by the grace of god , I nor anyone else was killed or seriously injured. When car came to complete stop on its own before hitting someones house, I could put car in park and restart. Now afraid to drive that van.

Was on my way to work and when I had stopped at a stop sign the engine shut off. I had not touched any button or anything else. If this were to happen while someone was driving it would be a very big issue.

When we are driving on streets, the power shuts off. I can barely pull over since the power steering shuts off. There is no lights or anything. Car must be shut off and turned back on to fix the problem. I have 2 children under 2 and I am so worried about getting rear ended. Luckily it's never happened on a highway. The dealership basically said it's not their problem. Mechanics cant figure out why it shuts off . It only happened once when we bought it in the fall. Now that its warm it happens a lot.

My vehicle will shut off while I'm driving. It's been an ongoing issue. There are no lights that come on, on the dashboard that indicate any error, except the antilock break light will occasionally light up. I could be driving slow or fast, it makes no difference, it will just shut off, and the power steering and brakes lose power and don't work. This is very dangerous and can easily cause an accident. I have done some research online and have also seen this exact same problem with hundreds upon hundreds of other consumers with the same make and model. People have taken their vehicles to Chrysler dealerships and mechanics and no one can figure out the cause. This is a huge safety issue. I have small children, 2 still in carseats, and my youngest who is 1 is handicap. I am scared to drive it. I still owe $10,000 on my auto loan for this car, so I am stuck with it. It seems like this is a defective vehicle, since so many others are having the same mystery safety issue.

While driving my van, especially at speeds of 20-30 miles per hour, shuts off , leaving me with no electric brakes or steering, no acceleration, nothing. This has been happening intermittently for a couple years. The mechanics at aaa have trouble recreating the problem. About 14 months ago they replaced the tipm . The electronic aspects of the van were haywire, dash lights flashing, born blaring etc. This is also occurring again but the tipm isn't the issue according to aaa. It is terrifying to drive and unexpectedly have the engine shut off. I have diminished ability to safely steer and brake in these instances. This happens when going straight as well as when turning. Last night our van just shut down driving down the road so I had no power steering or brakes. Looking into the problem on the internet I discover that this is a common problem with the town and country. And this isn't the first time this has happened to us. It always happens in motion. This is probably the third or fourth time it has happened. Checked the VIN for any recalls and had no recalls come up. Now I'm furious that Chrysler does not want help anyone with the problem. This is my wife's main vehicle and hauls our 3 kids in it. It is only a matter of time before someone is killed. I have owned several Chrysler vehicles over the years. I financially can't go buy another brand of vehicle at the drop of a hat, but I will get rid of this problem as soon as I can and go out of my way to discourage anyone from buying Chrysler. I don't care if they go out of business. Obviously the people at Chrysler don't drive their own product or this wouldn't be an issue anymore.

My vehicle shuts down randomly. I can be going 55mph, 45 mph, 35mph, 25mph, 10mph, at a stop light, as well as turning, it has happened during any and all of those. No turn signals, power steering, brakes. Been happening months. 1 dealer and 2 mechanics cannot find any issue. Occured 7 times today in a 3 mile round trip.

In attempting to turn north on to route 29 from the kroger gas station in chilicothe, IL the vehicle entirely shut down when partially through the turn. The lighting turned off, the engine shut down, and power steering did not operate. I was able to shift the vehicle into neutral, and attempted to the vehicle. It started but instantaneously shut down again. I attempted once more and it started and I quickly shifted into drive to avoid being struck by another vehicle on the 2 lane roadway.

I experienced the following issue which is addressed in a recall however, my vehicle was not included in the recall. I replaced the part, out of pocket, and am attempting to recoup the cost. I took the van to a Dodge/Chrysler dealership and the van showed no codes, etc to indicate the issue. I simply went out on a limb to guess if this was the problem. I have receipts showing purchase for the repair. This should be covered. While driving the van will just shut off/stall with no warning. Which then locks the steering even if in the middle of turning. Its very dangerous. We have taken it to the mechanic multiple times but they cant figure what the issue is because whatever it is is not throwing a code. It happens every time its driven.

2013 engine shuts off within first 7 minutes of driving. No warning it doesn't stall and radio gps and other components stay on just engine shuts off. This happens about 60% of the time. First time was on highway after driving 5 minutes going 60 mph shut off and it actually turned itself back out without me doing anything. Another time was after driving 3 minutes at a stop sign started to go and car shut off after 1/4 mile I had to pull over to restart. It's shut off dozens of times regardless of speed or location. 2nd to last time it happened I was going over railroad track at about 15 mph and last time it happened I was driving on highway at 70 mph. Once it happened in my driveway, I though idling it a while before driving would help but it shut off when I adjusted my steering wheel after idling for 7 mins.

Vehicle shuts down with no advance warning! there are no error or fault codes stored in the pcm. Very dangerous while operating on the highway. The vehicle is totally disabled when this occurs. The condition seems to be a common problem with Chrysler products as described on the internet. Someone (fed. Govt. ) should immediately launch an investigation into this serious and/or deadly situation. The vehicle has approximately 74000 miles on the odometer. Van will just shut off while driving. No warning, no lights. Have had the recall fixed twice but problem still hasn't stopped. Doesn't it doesn't matter if the van is cold or warm or what speed. It has done it on the freeway at 70mph. Dealer can not get it to duplicate the problem had if for 3 weeks in the shop. I can not keep driving this vehicle if no one can find what is wrong. Chrysler built the car why can't they find out what's wrong.
