When coming to a stop the engine will stall. Radio and instrument panel stays powered up. Brakes and steering do not work. If the van is put into park and then restarted it will work again. This only occurs when coming to a stop and not while driving at any speed.

On 1/17/21, the van engine stalled while I was driving on a freeway. This caused loss of power steering and power brakes. I coasted to stop on side of road, waited a bit, and restarted the van. It drove for aout 3 miles when the same thing happened. Problem appears intermittent since it hasn't happened when I brielfy drove the car on 1/18 and 1/19. Dealer is saying they can't find anything wrong with car (took car in to dealer on 1/20).

The engine stalls/shuts down while driving. This has occurred about 12 times in the past 4 months, and is becoming more frequent. Shortly after starting the car when driving the engine turns off and power steering is lost and braking becomes difficult. It is somewhat random but more prominent on cooler and humid days. The recall for the bad ignition key fob switch was completed 5 years ago and should not be the issue.

While driving on several occasions van would stall out while driving but wouldn't have to restart. Had engine code p0302 diagnosed both at advance and dealership. After further combustion check both left and right cylinder heads needed rebuilt to include crankshafts, rocker arms, and gaskets. New engine cooler installed due to failure of part leaking. Contacted Chrysler customer care for assistance due to van no longer under warranty and right cylinder head was already repaired 60,000 miles prior. Received no help. Left cylinder head was covered under an extended warranty. Cost 1250. Plus rental cars.

Engine stalls while driving, unable to steer as steering locks. Then difficult to restart. Doesn't happen any specific time. Been happening on multiple occasions.
Can stalls while in motion after cold start. Usually while 25 - 45 miles per hour. Car seemed to lose power brakes and steering moments before stalling. On city streets. Has happened 20 plus times since purchasing the vehicle new. There are not any engine codes associated with the stalling.
Engine stalls in the first 5 minutes of driving. Sometimes it is difficult to restart, other times not difficult to restart. Occurs 20 mph or slower. Usually while slowing to stop or turn. Has bee happening intermiitantly since January.
The traction control warning light flashed and then the car completely shuts down while driving. I contacted mopar who says it is not a known issue, but it obviously is. . Read more...
Engine stalls randomly, while in motion, highway, city, country. Vehicle just stops running making it difficult to control steering, stopping. Nearly caused an accident several times, due to the vehicle behind nearly crashing into ours, and the vehicle must be pulled off the road while abruptly decelerating which is dangerous when you must cross several lanes of traffic, as the vehicle cannot be restarted while moving. Vehicle has 56k miles. This problem has been happening for several months. Vehicle must be put into park to restart requiring the vehicle to be pulled off the roadway. The vehicle often does not restart immediately. After taking it to the dealer, they duplicated and verified the stalling issue and suggested to replace the win module, which we agreed to have them do, because we believe it is a extremely important safety concern. Price $700. It looks like there was an earlier recall for the exact same problem on the 2008 to 2010 model. We feel this is a major safety issue. Many times we have children in the car. These incidents cause all passengers to be distressed. Problems started in Dec 2016 and was infrequent at first but became very frequent in February and March. Checked by a local shop in February. They suggested taking it to the dealer.
Engine suddenly stalls while van in motion. Losing power steering and power braking. Once van coasts to a stop, restart with no issues. Normally occurs after van sits overnight and engine isn't warmed up as yet.

Car is dangerous! engine has stalled repeatedly when in motion. Has been in for corrections three times with no improvement. Re. L25/NHTSA 14v-373 recall, fobik was replaced by ziegler in mich. --followed by more stalling, subsequently by phillips in florida (also replaced wyn/fobc module--9dec15)--followed by more stalling, subsequently phillips updated pcm & tipm--5feb16,car stalled next day and then again the day after. Stalling usually occurs within a mile after starting the engine. Can then turn off the ignition key and restart the engine. Usually the engine then runs without stalling. Regarding "when did this happen?" stalling has occurred most recently several times in December, 2015 and several times in January and February, 2016. I wonder if the problem might not be the wireless ignition node module detents, but possibly the fuel shut-off float which is a problem with my 2005 Chrysler town and country--just a thought that may be irrelevant to the problem with my 2009 t & c.

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town and country. While driving approximately 35 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the repair failed to remedy the failure. Engine stalled 5 times already this month, while in motion. Only light that comes on with it is the 'road slippery' picture and some shops stated they could not diagnose it since the car does not show up alert /warning lights to go from. It stalled from being parked for a while after at least from 5 mins of driving. It stalled while turning and while in motion. Electrical power is still on. Engine was not. Loss of steering. Very very dangerous!! have 3 kids as pasengers. Lots of complain about it on the internet, but haven't heard a thing from Chrysler at all! last happenned today , January 27, 2016.
Recently purchased vehicle used (dealership filled with fuel after test drive but before we took it home). On the way home on city streets (while approaching an intersection), the engine stalled causing loss of power brakes & power steering. After putting the car in park, it started up & ran fine. A couple days later, my wife was driving it & while turning right at an intersection it did the same thing. She barely was able to safely complete the turn due to the loss of power steering. After that incident it hasn't happened again (but we haven't filled it with fuel again yet). Research on the net leads me to think it is the common problem with a valve in the fuel tank. We are very nervous driving the car & are dreading our next fill up. This is incredibly unsafe & I hope Chrysler is willing to do something about it.

Engine stalls while driving. I took the van to the dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong. It's happened at least three more times since then. Taking the van to dealership next week for oil change and have them check it again. It happened once on the highway and twice on the street during rush hour.

While attempting to start ignition this morning, the engine cranked over once then stalled and would not restart. All dash lights and radio worked however power windows worked intermittently. After about twenty minutes, the engine finally started but the traction control off light remained illuminated for another ten minutes or so.

Yesterday while driving in town my engine stalled, and the horn started blaring. Not honking or alarm sound, but solid blaring. My wipers turned on high, and the windshield wash started spraying all over. Front and rear wash and wipers. My reverse lights were on, even though the vehicle was in park. Also, the fan inside the van for the heater/ac isn't working. This spell lasted 3-5 minutes. Afterward, I was able to restart the van and continue on my way. Today, the same thing happened, shortly after starting the vehicle. 2 of the 3 times happened while I was driving on the street, approx 25-30 mph.

My family purchased a 2010 Chrysler town and country in November 2014. The vehicle seemed to drive normally until sometime at the beginning of 2015 (I can always get exact dates of service) when it began to stall while driving. The stalling typically happens at low speeds ¿ less than 35 mph. It has stalled once in a 40 mph zone, but more often than not it happens on a residential street with a speed limit of 25 mph or less. As the vehicle stalls, the traction control light flashes and the power steering goes out. The car becomes unmanageable, and the only option for the driver is to attempt to pull over, come to a complete stop, place the vehicle in park, and restart. We have taken the car into the dealership a few times and once to an auto repair business unaffiliated with Chrysler. None of the technicians who have seen the car can diagnose the issue. They have tried to remedy the problem, but the repairs that were made were only guesses and did not fix the vehicle. We have another appointment with charlie¿s on August 1. This was the earliest ¿one of their best technicians¿ could see us. During this time we have also contacted the Chrysler, the manufacturer, to seek guidance. They are not able to provide any other than to tell us to reach out to the attorney general. Additionally, several websites\forums discuss this exact problem. It is not an isolated incident. . Was driving on highway suddenly the tire traction light came on, power steering became hard to move and could not accelerate. I turned off the unit and turned on again no problem.
