While driving about 30mph in my neighborhood, all of a sudden, my van's horn started honking, the wind shield blades began wiping very quickly and water was spraying over the windshield. Also, the automatic locks were going up and down and the car lights and blinkers were flashing on and off uncontrollably. It was very scary! I stopped the car and shut off the engine, but everything continued. Luckily I was not far from home and was able to carefully drive it there. Once in the driveway, the only way to get the car to quit was to disconnect the battery. Waiting on repair report.

The right rear power sliding door on the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country fails to latch properly and does not notify the operator of the malfunction. The door will fail to operate in the closing operation with the power sliding option and requires operator intervention to manually close the door. In many instances when the door fails to close properly, iit is impossible to manually close the door to get the latch mechanism to engage. The failure of the door to latch constitutes a safety concern. The fact that there is no warning indicator to notify the operator that the door has not latched poses a severe safety risk to the occupants. The only notification the operator receives during this malfunction is increased road noise due to poor sealing between the door and door frame. Occupants could be ejected from the unlatched door. The manufacturers representative has been made aware of the concern and has failed to properly address the concern or shown any interest in resolving the issue. Other owners of Chrysler Town & Country vehicles has stated that they have experienced similar concerns with their power sliding rear doors.

After parking and locking the vehicle, when I come back to it sometimes the side doors or rear door are open. This has happened more than once in a parking garage at work, in my garage at home, and when the vehicle is parked on the street. On one occasion, the driver's side sliding door was found open by police in the parking lot of a hotel where I was staying. On two occasions I've found the vehicle's engine running when it was parked inside my closed garage at home. The doors can be opened remotely or the engine started remotely with two successive presses on the appropriate button on the key fob, but I often come back to the van and find these doors open when I have been too far away from the vehicle to activate it with the key fob. Because it takes two successive presses within seconds on a single button to open a door with the key fob, the key fob is not likely the problem. I would like this fixed, but in the interim, I want to disable the ability to open the doors or start the engine remotely until such time as a fix can be found.
I have owned a 2007 town and county from new. Yesterday for the 6th time when I turned the vehicle off the left hand sliding door opened by itself. I called Chrysler some time back about this and they had no history of this happening. The vehicle has about 36,000 miles on it. We use the vehicle primarily for traveling and with our dogs. Can you imagine what could happen if I pulled into a rest area and the door opened by itself!!!.

I am experiencing at 80k miles on my town and country, faulty rear door locks. I am extremely concerned about this issue secondary to having two small children. The automatic door locks no longer work. I fear that my children will open the doors while the car is in drive. This is not only a huge inconvenience of crawling through the vehicle to lock and unlock doors, but I am majorly concerned of my children's safety.
Passenger side electrically operated door does not latch after closing. Door does not always display to driver that it is not latched.

While removing a bike rack from the trunk of my 2002 Town & Country Mini van, my hand slipped shutting and trapping the fingers on my right hand in the door jam. Since my fingers were in the way, the trunk wouldn't shut securely and therefore, the trunk release would not work. When I tried to open the trunk with my left hand, it just dinged at me three times and stayed tight on my hand. My fingers quickly began loosing feeling. Seeing as I had no adults available to assist, I started trying to pull my hand out as my daughter called 911. The ring on my right hand was keeping the trunk opened just barely far enough where I could pull my hand out, but in doing so I managed to scrape a large portion of skin off one of my fingers and my knuckles were bleeding. If it hadn't been for that ring, I am certain I would have needed the paramedic' assistance to break open the door. This would have left me trapped for at least 5 more minutes. As it is, my index finger has been numb for three days. By the grace of god, I only suffered this temporary numbness and minor scratches. I am deeply concerned for my children's safety as it would have crushed their little hands. You would think a 2002 model would have the safety feature that would detect an obstruction and not close or at least be able to reopen immediately. Very concerning.
2005 Chrysler town and country power locks all stop working. Pulling and replacing fuse gives temporary fix but problem occurs again.
The passenger side sliding door lock does not respond to the remote or inside control for locking and unlocking. It only works when controlled manually.
2007 Chrysler town and country minivan sliding door lock fails to open with power button or keyless fob. This requires a manual intervention to unlock the door and then manually open the door. This is a safety issue in case of emergency which would hamper immediate egress. Web sites suggest to reset the iod fuse or change out an expensive bcm. However, this only treats the symptom. There are no recalls or Chrysler help to identify or fix the root cause, not just the proximal cause. I have small children and believe this could be life threatening if the power/keyless locks fail to open during a traumatic event requiring immediate egress. This issue is found hundreds of times on the internet going back to 2004, but with no fix after 6 years? thank you for addressing this critical issue. This has been an issue for several months. Searching recalls . Gov failed to locate any other issues.
