38 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

The auto locks don't work on my 2005 Chrysler t&c. I have had continual problems with the auto-locks not working. I have pulled the fuse and have also disconnected the battery for several hours at a time to "correct". Sometimes this fixes for several days, and sometimes for several months. Currently even after "resetting" by disconnecting the battery, the drivers side sliding door still won't auto lock/unlock when the other doors do. Also, the lock/unlock switch on the passenger door does not lock/unlock the doors. I have heard there is a software update for the bcm that addresses this, but even that is not guaranteed to totally fix the issue. Also, I don't feel that as it is a known issue, that we should have to pay to have the system updated.

40 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

My 2007 t & c minivan has a faulty door latch assembly on the rear passenger slide door. The Chrysler dealerships replace on average 5 of these a week. You cannot go to the junk yard and get a replacement part, they are updating with brand parts because all the old parts are defective. The door will not pop up or down with the automatic locks. This is a chronic problem and it should be a recalll. The part is $400+ and the labor is $200+ just for a lock!.

44 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

We have a 2005 Town & Country minivan with locks that quit working often. We disconnect the battery for a few minutes and they work again for a day or two. This is very unsafe for many reasons. Sometimes they stop working and you don't know it until you get back in your car, thinking the whole time your car is locked and it is not. Also, having 3 children riding in a car with locks that don't work is very unsafe. I have a family member with the same minivan and they are having the same problem, how ironic. After reading on-line I have read how common this is. What do we have to do to get Chrysler to make a recall on this problem? we don't have the extra money in today's economy to have it fixed at the dealership. I am really hoping there is some way they make a recall on this problem. We have put some thought into getting a new minivan that is not so unsafe for our family. Very unhappy with Chrysler!!.

45 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/05/2009

Door locks do not work. The rear sliding doors locked up and would not open. The front side doors will not lock or unlock. I got the rear sliding doors open by climbing in the back and pulling the tab up. The passenger rear sliding door is powered, but it wouldn't work either I finally got it working by pulling the fuse ( which was not blown) but when I put the fuse back in it started working. The safety issue here is , what if a child was in the back and this situation accured. And you were unable to open the doors?.

The power door locks do not work either with the fob or with the power lock button on the door panels. The internet is full of discussion on this topic each with several complaints, all of them saying that there is no permanent fix. This vehicle has only one key entry, so that you can open only the door with the key and the one behind it without climbing into the vehicle and crawling around inside. There is much advice on the internet for temporary fixes that require opening the hood and unhooking the battery cable daily to reset a computer etc.

The automatic sliding door of my 2008 town and country Chrysler Mini van closed on the fingers of my 4 year old child while he was sitting, strapped into his booster seat. I did not realize until I opened the drivers side door and was then able to open the sliding door to release his fingers.

56 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/12/2008

I attempted to lock my van using the remote. The van did not lock. Thought battery was dead in my remote. But sliding door would still open. Then I had to manually lock all doors and it's difficult when I'm pregnant. I am unable to unlock all doors using the interior switch and there is only one door that I have to manually unlock with the key. It was constant. Someone suggested to pop off the fuse and then put it back. Did that. But temporary solution. Also the lock will not automatically lock when van is in motion over 20 mph. Dangerous as I have kids all under the age of 5.

58 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/01/2008

We purchased our 2003 town and country in 2008 within a few months of our purchase we noticed that the hatchback no longer opened using the key or sometimes the door does not open or close and we have to open the hatchback manually or try to close the door manually and at times the door will not close and we have to wait until it is ready to shut which if you are in a rush in the morning 5-10 minutes is a while to wait especially when you are trying to get kids off to school and yourself off to work.

59 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/28/2008

I am contacting you in reference to my Chrysler Town & Country. We bought this new oct. 2008. We have this van in atleast seven times for the sliding doors. The problem is when you close the doors with the power shut the door starts to close but when it gets to where it starts to latch it will click two or three times and re-open you then have to manually open the door all the way to reset the door and at times you do not know if the door has shut. My wife actually had one door open while she was moving! we contacted Chrysler on 3/26/2010 I was told at this time since the vehicle was already at the dealer ship for the problem at hand and since we were so close to warranty expiring to leave it there and I was given a case # 19426494 and told a case manager would call either that day or for sure the next day and I never heard back from them. I contacted the dealer (sleepy hollow Chrysler/Dodge) 1-877-899-4023 and told this of the situation. I did then receive a voice message from william whom is the case manager with Chrysler on 3/29/2010 I then called back and was told he was busy and would call back and again no call back. I called back again on 4/01/2010 and again got no call. I called again on 4/05/2010 and spoke with a don and he confirmed this was an active case # and was concerned since it was so old and nothing had been done with this, he indicated he would forward the info to william and he would contact me and it is now the second day 4/06/2010 and still no call. This is why I am contacting you! this is a safety issue but since they can not get a code or it to reproduce when the dealer has it they do not know what to fix however one dealer did get a code and replaced a faulty latch but it still malfunctions. My wife after leaving the dealer ship could not open the door at all and she did finally get it to open. This a issue we would like resolved and I feel I have given Chrysler ample time to fix this! we wanted to try and keep this between us and Chrysler.

63 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/30/2008

Randomly, the power locks on my newly purchased 2005 Chrysler Town & Country touring edition (3. 8l v6) decided to stop working. Research online told us to just remove the fuse labeled iod and then put it back. This does stop the problem but it's temporary and in my case it stopped working. After further research it appears the vehicle needs a computer update which I'm expected to pay for. This update, in my case, would require me to lose my car for at least a week. Seeing that I am in a high risk pregnancy I don't think it would be a good idea to not have my car. Chrysler knows this is a problem cause they made the update to correct it. I think this is a safety issue. I leave my car, hit the lock button, hear the honk telling me it's locked but it's not. Someone can easily get into my car. As well, I have a 2 year old. I have the child locks on but if they malfunction as well or she is outside of the car and manages to open the door when they should be locked she could get her fingers stuck in the heavy door. I also live in bear country. It's not completely unusual for bears to manipulate vehicles and get inside when they are left unlocked. We always lock our cars. We always rely on the car's power lock option that you pay extra for to operate properly. I think the update should at least be offered, rapidly at a Chrysler service shop free of charge and the same day you make your appointment as it is a safety hazard.

64 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/02/2008

Power locks failed. I took the van to the dealership in Jan. 2009 for other repairs (ck engine light - ended up being a bad egc valve) and when I mentioned the locks had failed the technician immediately asked if the van was a 2005. When I said yes, he told me that there was a defect in the programming of the locks which has caused a high number of them to fail. Told I would have to pay $100 to have them fixed. Which I did as it has been very inconvenient as there is only one lock for key entry. $100 for it to be reprogrammed was highway robbery. Why was there no recall if they knew they were defective?.

65 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/25/2008

Following a front end deer strike on the highway, our auto body shop completed the repairs to this auto - a 2008 Chrysler town and country. Our concern after we struck the deer was that the hood flew up "blinding" us as we attempted to get to the side of the road. I originally felt that the hood lock must have failed. The auto body shop said that the issue was that the "upper tie bar" broke free. This in turn [in ways that I don't completely understand] took the hood lock with it. The radiator support also was involved somehow in this failure. Apparently, while the hood lock was metal, some of these other pieces are plastic and could not withstand the front end impact without failing. I believe that this is tremendously dangerous and that the manufacturers should be aware that, while the airbags functioned properly, we could have died because of the loss of vision caused by the hood. I notified Chrysler but they said that since the vehicle has been repaired, there is nothing that they will do about this.
