On Friday morning, my wife went to start the van but none of the lights turned on. After checking the voltage of the battery, we found that it was completely drained. The night before, she heard a humming noise coming from the rear of the vehicle after the van was off. We were able to jump the van to get it started. Once it started, it ran great. The next day, we tried to start it again but this time the engine struggled to start. It took a couple of tries before we got it started. Jumping the engine did not have positive results. We decided to take it to our auto mechanic and he diagnosed a faulty fuel pump relay. He found that faulty fuel relays are very common in 2011-2013 vehicles, but Jeep grand cherokee and Dodge durangos were the only vehicles recalled and fitted with an external relay. I am submitting this complaint in hopes of issuing a recall for all vehicles affected, more specifically, the 2011 Chrysler town and country. Below is a link to a website designed specifically for this issue. . Read more...

Van was having a hard time starting. Then one night I heard a humming noise when the car was off. Didn't know what it was. The next morning battery was at 0%. Charged the battery and got it to start. When starting we have to turn it to the on then off position a few times before I could get it to work. When I hear the humming of the fuel pump that is running when the key is out, I can put key in and turn it to on and off a few times and get it to stop. My shop said the tipm needed to be replaced. It is recalled on other vehicles but not our van. It was supposed to cost $710 to fix but the part number has now been superseded with the fixed and the now will cost $950 to fix. We should be paying for repairs for this when the same part has been recalled for other vehicles! I'm worried that the fuel pump relay will end up wearing out the fuel pump too which would cost another $600 to repair. I hope the company will do the right thing and fix this broken part for all vehicles they used it in!.
My vehicle will stop after I have finished driving it. This has happened quite frequently. I will have to jump start my battery and then the engine will start. It usually happens when the car has been sitting overnight or for longer periods of time (meaning over 6 hours). I have already replaced the battery and took the car to a mechanic. The mechanic said it a big problem with Chrysler town and county. The fuel pump relay is not working right and causing my battery to drain or not start. He said there are recalls for very similar cars and models, but checked my VIN and it was not on my vehicle. I need to the company to look into this as this seems like a problem that could have been prevented. This could be dangerous if the car stops on its own while driving.

Vehicle wont start until multiple attempts, will stall while driving and fuel pump will continue to deun when the vehicle is shutoff until battery is drained. This has continued to happen daily for a few weeks. Car has died on multiple while driving on busy streets making it impossible to steer. Wont start without multiple attempts in the morning on my way to work and I between short stops after being driven for awhile. Fuel pump will intermittently continue to run after car is off and key is removed both short and long trips, requiring battery cable to be removed. On a number of occassions I have not realized it was running until coming back to vehicle and hearing it, only to find that it has drained the battery to the point that it will not start.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the etc warning indicator illuminated. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle approximately four times, but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was towed by aaa to autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram houston (1515 south loop west, houston, TX 77054, 713-489-7825) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 217,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler town and country. After the vehicle was turned off, the battery power drained and the vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who replaced the battery and alternator, but the failure continued. It was later determined that the fuel pump relay remained activated even though the vehicle was turned off and the ignition key was removed from the ignition switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer (east tennessee Dodge, 2774 n. Main st, crossville, TN) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
The power shuts off or the car won't start after the key is taken out. I was told by the mechanic I went to that something with the spark plugs was firing incorrectly so I had that replaced. I also had my auto start removed because I was told that was affecting the battery and finally I was told the fuel pump was constantly running which was draining my battery. I was told to pull the fuse for the fuel pump until I can have the part replaced, which is tedious and that still don't work all the time. It is my understanding that the part has been on back order since December. At this point I am very frustrated and I don't feel safe driving this car until the issue is resolved. The blind spot lights also remain on.
Car would not start when parked in the driveway, had it towed to mechanic. They first said that the fuel pump needed replaced, then after replacing this part, they stated that the totally integrated power module also needed replaced. After 5 days without our vehicle and paying thousands of dollars, we are furious. I have been reviewing this problem with this vehicle and it appears to be a problem for many, many people, but nothing is being done by Chrysler. This is the exact issue as part of "safety recall r09 / NHTSA 15v-115 fuel pump relay". The town and country was excluded from this recall despite using the exact same part and having the exact same issues.
My car was working fine before the the incident that I had was in the family dollar I was as doing some shopping when I was done I went to my car I put the key in the ignition on and I turn the car there was no sound or any power so I call the towing company to take the car to my house when I reach my house and call a friend that he is a mechanic to check on my car and he told me that the battery of the car was drain so I took the battery out and took it to closes autozone hwy 27 haines city FL I took my old battery to the autozone but the new battery was going to cost me round 230 dollars I had no other choice that to buy it then I went back home my friend the mechanic put the new battery in drove the car to the same autozone the same day to do a quick check up on the alternator so they did the check up and the alternator was going bad also so I bought a new alternator that cost me 170 dollars having this problem with almost a brand new car it got me upset I never went to the dealer to complain so 2 weeks pass coming out from my house I turn the ignition and the car didn't wanna start so I ask one of my neighbors to do a quick battery jump when so I took my car to the autozone since I have warranty on the 2 items they have me new alternator and battery again I took it to the mechanic and more money to spend also the mechanic told me that it might have some electrical issues inside the car so the mechanic replace again the alternator and battery now the car is running good for now a week pass and leaving home went into my car try to start my car and it took a while to start it sound it like a choke it took me almost 5 times before the car starts so I took the car to the mechanic and the mechanic told me that the fuel pump is going bad and it needed to be replace I spend almost 400 for 2 things now I got to spend more money for a fuel pump this is nonsense.
Fuel pump remains running after ignition switch is turned off. This situation has been recalled in other Chrysler models and should be applied to the Town & Country. Any time you cannot shut the fuel pump off you have a very hazardous condition. This incident first took place 10/01/2018 and has continued to do so ever since. This condition applies to the tipm, Chrysler dealer wants $ 1200. 00 to fix.
Fuel pump will not shut off, runs continually until battery dies. The vehicle is parked and turned off however the fuel pump continues to run.
Car will not start, will not stay started, or shuts off while driving. Or. . . The fuel pump will stick "on" while the car is off. This is due to the faulty integrated relays in the totally integrated power module failing. This is the exact issue as part of "safety recall r09 / NHTSA 15v-115 fuel pump relay". The town and country was excluded from this recall despite using the exact same part and having the exact same issues. I would like to have the proper parts put into my car for safety reasons. The dealer wants to put the faulty parts back into the car after charging me a lot of money to fix this obvious safety issue that should have been recalled with the others.
My fuel pump initiator is not sending signal to start my car. It is draining my battery as well. My car may start going to work but not on my lunch break then start after work but it hesitates many times.

Our Chrysler town and country started dying while going down the road, not starting at times, and causing a wide array of concerns including seat belt lights coming and going, air bag lights coming and going, fuel pump staying engaged after shutting off. This can happen at any random time. It was determined to be another fault tipm module in the vehicle, something that has been replaced before even.
Faulty fuel pump wiring system the tipm is no longer allowing the engine to realize their is fuel. It is not the fuel pump. There are so many websites that offer the service to re-manufacturer the tipm because of the ongoing issues. Why is their not a recall?.
Fuel pump relay not operating properly. Used to not operate fuel pump upon first start up. Now fuel pump will not shut off even with key out of ignition. Sounds like tipm issue. Constantly running fuel pump is very dangerous situation.
Car stalled while driving 40 mph,and will not start, tipm is defective, the internal fuel pump relay has failed, the vehicle is a 2011 Chrysler town and country with 59000 miles.
Fuel pump not working correctly, not shutting off, not starting, I search online and found the exact same problem. Recall r09 / NHTSA 15v-115 for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles but recall is only for Dodge and Jeep. (not Chryslers. ).
At first starting the van was intermittent you would have to wait till you heard the fuel pump turn on in order to start the vehicle because the fuel relay on the tipm board is going bad. Once you heard the fuel pump come on the van would start but there are times where the starter stays engaged and wants to keep trying to start when the van is running. Last weekend I was on the highway with my five year old daughter and the fuel pump shut off while driving( in motion), speed limit of 70,. I lost control of the steering, the van decelerated very quickly in heavy amount of traffic, I was nearly in a multi-car accident. When the van is shut off I am not sure the air bags will work if I had been involved in an accident. I have to unplug the fuse to the fuel pump every time I get out of the vehicle because the fuel pump keeps running draining my battery. I had to pay $200. 00 to replace my battery. This has been a problem with Dodge and Chrysler for 10 years they know about it but it will take someone dying in order for them to recall all vehicles affected. I am afraid to drive my van because I feel in this current state it is unsafe because it has shut down because of the fuel relay on the tipm board.
My 2011 Chrysler Town & Country quit while driving on hensil rd port orange, FL. Lost power steering and power brakes. Was able to pull to side of road. Found problem is fuel pump relay in the tipm is insufficient to carry the load. A recall was issued for 2011 durango and Jeep grand cherokee, but not 2011 Dodge caravan or Chrysler t&c for the same problem.
One night 2 years ago I was driving my van. I drove it as usual on my daily routine. I went home and about 30 minutes of being home I went and got in my van and started it up and it started normally just as it always did. It ran for pry 3 to 5 seconds only and just died. I tried to start it back up and it would not start. Tried starting it for an hour and it would not start. That's when I researched and found out about the tipm problem that Dodge has. I never knew for sure until recently if that was indeed what the problem was. Until recently and only found out because I sold my house and had to get it moved out of my garage where my van sat since the day it died. I was not able to drive my van for pry over 2 years. My van is a 2013 and has about 80,000 miles on it. We are the only owner. After paying almost $40,000 for a brand new vehicle I definitely didnt think I would not be vehicle less anytime soon. Once my house was sold I had someone I knew come to try to get it started so I could move it. A guy looked at it for a couple days before he got it started. I was thrilled. That's when I knew it wasn't the fuel pump that went out. To get it started we had to hook the fuel pump up with a different wire that is ran to one of the cigarette lighter spots in the van. That was in September. That's how I've been driving my van since. Now the other day as I drove over a bridge my van just died. Reason is because the wire that is plugged into cigarette lighter to fuel pump got to hot and began melting inside the cigarette lighter plugin. The wires began to melt as well from being to hot. This is very dangerous as it can start a fire in someones vehicle. Someone can be killed because of this and it can be prevented if Dodge fixed all the vehicles with this same tipm instead of just some of the vehicles that the recall was for.
Dealer identified as failed fuel pump relay integrated in total integrated power module (tipm) which is the problem recalled in r09/NHTSA 15v-115 the 2012/2013 durango and grand cherokee series and made by same manufacturer. This can cause vehicle to stall while driving or have a non start situation as power is not properly delivered to the fuel pump due to relay failure. This failure occurred in the 2012 Town & Country model which is not covered under the recall for the same year.
Summary: I believe that the tipm fuel pump relay is causing the issues. It has left the fuel pump on when the engine and power was off with the key out of the vehicle. It has many time cranked without starting, while stationary with the engine cold and also while hot. This morning it shut off while driving my kids to school it shutoff the engine while driving down the highway followed by cranking it was restarted. It failed to start after coming out of the school. I have seen that crysler recalled this part on durangos with the same engine and model year.
The fuel pump relay inside the tipm (fuse box circuit board fuel pump relay) the vehicle would not start sometimes and died a few times out driving it out on the highway. I bought a new relay and had it solder in to my tipm and it works great now then a engine light came on and it say's it's not communication with my pcm then it's working again. Vehicle runs great now and starting. I hear Chrysler 2011 town and country vans are having a lot of problems with the same issues but no recalls on the tipm box modules.
(am - no dealer info) tl the contact owns a 2013 Chrysler town and country. When the ignition was started, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay needed to be replaced. The vehicle was temporarily repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and was unable to provide assistance. The failure mileage was 112,553.
Van would not start, only crank and crank. Towed to repair shop and fuel pump was replaced. Next day van had starting problems again. Van was taken back to repair shop. Mechanic was unable to solve problem so van was towed to a Chrysler dealership. The Chrysler dealership was also unable to solve problem and van was returned back to me. Again the van would not start, I tried the tipm bypass idea found online. The van has ran ok since, only having troubles when very cold. The van only has 87000 miles and a very well maintained history. I am scared this van will fail and seriously hurt someone. The cost for a new tipm is very expensive and I don't know if this will even fix the problem. I have already spent $900 on a new fuel pump and have the same problems. Please help.
(redo - no intials; no tl; no failure mileage; some sentences are incomplete; typos; no dealer or manuf info) the fuel pump relay failed. The fuel pump relay is much smaller than the industry average, and the contacts overheated. The relay randomly failed multiple times while driving. The problem was intermittent, and the vehicle was functioning normally by the time it made it to a service facility for testing/repair. The relay on this particular design is integrated into the fuse box, which Chrysler calls a totally integrated power module, or tipm. The design makes it prone to failure because of the size of the relay (too small for this application) as evidenced by the recall for jeeps that use the same wiring.
The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. While driving at any speed, the vehicle slowed down and gradually accelerated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer (cornerstone Chrysler Jeep Dodge, elk river, mn, 763-441-2300) for diagnostic testing. The technician diagnosed that the fuel pump relay was faulty and was not under recall. The failure recurred and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
Tipm fuel pump relay caused motor stall in front of kindergarden. Luckily at very low speed and my wife was able to stop. The fuel pump relay as part of the tipm is causing starting problems and completely drained battery (fuel pump sometimes does not turn off at nights) as well.
Ever since we got the car, it has had problems. We knew that it was a used car but didn't expect all the problems. The check engine light turns on all the time and the radio stops working. Currently we are having problems with the fuel pump. We were told that that was the problem and there was a recall on the 2012 & 2013 grand cherokee relay pump. Also the radio seems to be failing again. We were wondering if you could check that and more since there seems to be more people with the same problems as us.
When the vehicle is turned off, the fuel pump continues to run and will not shut off. The problem is a faulty tipm - totally integrated power module.
Tipm (totally integrated power module) failure. Symptoms include fuel pump not running, or running irregularly. Vehicle will not start, vehicle stalls soon after starting. This part is common to several models and causes problems across model lines. It has since been redesigned, and the dealership is installing the "new" module in our vehicle at my expense.
From what I've researched my problem is with the tipm. Several months ago I started having problems with starting the vehicle. Push to start nor key would start the vehicle after several attempts. Then all of a sudden it would start. Dealer found no codes to diagnose and claimed they could not reproduce it. Dealer flashed something but did not make a difference. A month ago, the car stopped on a major highway, I was fortunate to be able to make it to the shoulder. Had it towed. Diagnosed as fuel pump getting no power. They replaced the fuel pump. Still having intermittent issues with starting. Now, with no warning the vehicle justs shuts down completely as if no power. Radio, everything goes dead for a fews seconds. Then radio, lights come on with no intervention. Car cranked up both times. Has done this twice in the last two weeks. Someone will get hurt or god forbid, killed if Chrysler does not stop lying and take care of this defect. Consumer's should not be forced to pay to replace this part.
Fuel pump keeps burning out. I am on my third fuel pump and replaced the tipm.
Van would not start from it's parking place at a car wash. Message came up "accessory or ignition on". I had it towed to an auto repair shop. Diagnosed as failure of the tipm (total integrated power module). This shut down all power to the vehicle including fuel pump, computer, steering, engine, and whatever else. Good thing it was parked when it failed, for had I been driving I would not have had any control of the vehicle, according to the mechanic.
