46 problems related to engine belts and pulleys have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
On three occasions the fan belt broke, causing noise.
Timing belt failed.
Drive belt failed.
Serpentine belt failed.
Engine knocks due to damaged tensioner/belts.
The belt tensioner and serpentine belt wherein the tension mounting belt is sheared off and the belt becomes torn apart resulting in immediate loss of power steering and power braking. Nlm.
From November of 1998 unitl March of 2000, serpentine belt and tensioner has been replaced four times. Dealer has no idea why the belt continues to break. Please provide any further information.
Automatic belt tensioner fails causing loss of steering and braking capability.
