I recently purchase a 2003 Dodge Caravan. The headlight switch is not illuminated. My dealer says that the illumination was removed in the 2003 models. Does this comply with title 49 part 571 standard no 101?.

Light switch smoked at start-up. Dealer replaced switch and claimed it was not a fire hazard. I contacted Chrysler c/s who also claimed not a fire hazard, but I took switch apart and can see where a printed circuit board is heavily blackened.

Vehicle is experiencing a problem with the headlights. The headlight switch was replaced. It happened a second time and the switch was replaced again. The headlights went out again for the third time. This time the repair will not be free because the vehicle is out of warranty. The headlights went out again. Dealership will not do anymore than replace a switch. After 4 failures, the lights are still operating intermittently. Dodge approved a new switch at no cost and had been made available about three years ago but a local dealer installed an old switch in 2000, 2001, and 2002.

Turn signals would work intermittently in hot/humid weather. Sometimes would not work with indicator turned on. Had changed the fuses each time problem happened. Also, sliding door lock does not regularly release with the lock/unlock switch. Further, it is unreliable with the manual lock/botton. The headlights, in hot/humid weather may or may not go off when switch is turned off. Been in contact with dealership.
