Before arriving at work stopped at mcdonalds to get coffee. After 10min return to car and tried to start and would not start. I turned key again car started shaking and started with white smoke comimg out of exhaust. Car was shaking real hard I stepped on gas pedal and place it in drivei drove to the next street to work location and as I was putting car in reversed car cut off again. I started it again smoke again came out I put in reverse while giving gas and backed car into parking spot at work location. I called tow truck j & j towing they came and I started car and drove unto flatbed and had towed to myers automotive mechanics. They said the valve/cylinder #2 had broken cause spark plug to bend and melted other things and that this year of the 2006 Dodge Charger rt with the hemi 5. 7 was know for this issue they have had tremendous amount of problems with these models/make of Dodge and that even getting a used one it would do the same. They advised a new manufactured one that Dodge apparently have revised editions. They need to replaced all these engine issues that they have known about but left the consumer to deal with unfortunately.
We own a 2006 Dodge, charget sxt. It just passed 76,000 miles when we started smelling a strong odor of gas and exhaust. About a week later we heard exhaust noise and took it to our mechanic. When he checked it he found the right side exhaust manifod was broken into two pieces. He replaced the manifold and the dealership told him they were selling 15 right (passenger side manifolds every week. After he replaced it he said he still heard aexhaust noise and recommended we contact Chrysler. Chrysler told us to take it to a dealer for diagnosis. We did and the left side manifold was also broken. The bill for both manifolds was $1035. 20. Chrysler has agreed to pay 50% of the dealers bill only or $250. 96. There is obviously a serious defect when not only one, but both cast iron manifolds fail within 6,000 miles of the mandatory California epa warranty period for manifolds (70,000). I am seriously concerned because carbon monoxide fumes were entering the car when traveling 65mph. What would have happened if we had been stuck in los angeles traffic at 5-10mph. This defect should be immediately investigated before someone dies from carbon monoxide poisoning.
We have a 2006 Dodge Charger, always had all maintenance performed via dealership on scheduled time. Out of the blue, engine light starts to blink on/off, car hesitating. Dealership says the engine has completely failed, and we need a new one. Dealership states "something" in the exhaust system broke off and entered into the engine, causing it to ruin the engine, and we need a replacement engine. We have never had any issue with engine up to this point, and the car was taken into the dealership immediately when issues began. We still owe 4k on this car, and feel we have done everything within dealership/car requirements regarding having only the dealership work on this vehicle for every engine need. No warning, no prior issue(s), no reason for this to occur other than a failure with the manufacturing.
I have a 2006 Dodge Charger that attempts to stall ~ while driving and while sitting at a traffic light ~ and then will hesitate upon acceleration before lurching forward. No accident or injuries yet, but potential is there. Miracle I haven't been rear ended or rear ended someone else. Frightening to think of what could happen if traveling on a highway at around 60-65 mph and the car did stall. I found a forum online with numerous Dodge Charger owners experiencing the same problem. No recall that I can see. . . Yet. I've had mine in the shop five times for this problem and it still acts up.
