general problems of the 2006 Dodge Charger - part 1

My 2006 Dodge Charger stalls after refueling, and now stutters when driving as if not getting fuel. I have noticed when attempting to break and stopping at stops this is happening more often. The car shuts down and could cause a accident. After researching this issue I found that this has been addressed already under investigation number pe13-016 by the NHTSA.

Valve in the top of the tank to release vapor through the purge system is stuck open allowing fuel in the system, is available for inspection. Car stalls while driving and at stops, stalled infront of ambulance. Has not been reproduced of confirmed by dealer, but it has happened everytime I fully refuel the car. Has not been inspected. No symptoms or warnings prior to issue occurring.

On 3/10/2023 my vehicle suddenly starting trembling and shaking profusely! it terrified me severely. I immediately called my mechanic and it was towed in to be repaired. I was told it needed a tune- up. Towing, 3-direct ignition coils replaced, 6-spark plugs replaced and 1- fuel injection plenum gasket set replaced. Four weeks later on 4/16/2023 a warning sign of a backwards meeting parenthesis with a lightening bolt between to the two backwards parenthesis showed up on my warning lamp-electronic throttle control (etc) indicator symbol; causing my vehicle on shake, jump and stall as I was driving on 29s heading toward 70w towards baltimore to get home. I was able to drive to side of the road and my car completely stopped. A the horrific sounds of the traffic wizzed by me and my 12 year old child, I immediately called aaa, as we were in danger and severely terrified. We were finally picked up after 3 long hours!!!!! my car was the towed up the street from my home because the huge tow truck was unable to get directly in front of my door at that late hour. As I called aaa back the next morning to have my car towed to my mechanic shop, I was told I could only get 1 tow/ breakdown. I was totally in disbelieve after all we endured the evening/ night before. After explaining to a supervisor at aaa, she agreed that we had such a horrible experience the night before and adjusted the policy to accommodate my vehicle to be towed to my mechanic for repairs. This time, my fuel pump needed to be replaced and it has been. My vehicle still feels hesitate in its acceleration and as of today my engine light is on on my warning panel. I have been contacted by a nhts recall team agent and have been scheduled for an appt.

Car stalled after refueling, restarted pulled out stalled again a minute later. No warning lamps. Able to drive 15 miles home, parked it. Investigation # pe13-016.

Car will stall and not start after filling with gas. After awhile car will run but shut off randomly. This can happen while driving. Car has been stuck at intersections and will stall even doing highway speeds. All lights will appear on dash engine car will lose all power. Small ding before it dies.

After filling up the car with fuel (93 octane) the car stalls after a couple of minutes. This has caused unsafe situations as the car has stalled in the middle of intersections and on the road. This has happened consistently after filling up. The car does not start immediately after stalling. After a couple of minutes post stall, I am able to restart the car. At times, the car studders while moving. This all happens after topping off with fuel. The vehicle has approximately 106,000 miles.

My Dodge Charger has 4 codes I can't figure out and one is a is a manufacturer code that popped up and lost connection to tcm and something to do with the fuel.

Engine stalled while driving 3-5 times. Almost caused a collision.

Pcm/ecm failure during driving. Caused entire vehicle to shut off during speeds as little as 20 or as high as 70 mph. Severe safety issue and potential for critical component damage to other parts of the vehicle! warning tone and lamps do not appear until after the incident happens. And it has been confirmed by 3 consecutive car shops and dealers. Happens repeatedly, day to day.

I've owned this car a little over a month. I filled up the gas tank today, after leaving the gas station the car stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. Thankfully no one was coming the opposite direction at the time before I could get the car restarted. At the next light it stalled again, and then was able to restart the car. I was able to pull into a parking lot to access any issues. Nothing looked wrong visibly. While idling the car stalled again. I researched the issue and found other similar issues with this year and make of the car stalling after filling the tank. This is a huge safety issue as there was no warning and the car completely stalled and had no function. If cars were coming at me in the intersection or I was on the highway which was the next exit, it could have been worse for me and others on the road.

Rocker arms in the 2006 and above have a major problem in the rocker arms. Bad arms go bad or seize up cause veichle engine to stop running scary if your on the fwy with your family. I researched the problem online and there are thousands of complaints if not more.

Filled gas tank, did not top off. Left parking lot and the car died going down the road. Happened 3 times that day. Has happened many times since November 2020, didn't know you had complaint line. My 2006 Dodge Charger has been hesitating and dying immediately after filling up my fuel tank, every time. This has been an ongoing problem as of the last 6 months. I've read in multiple online Dodge forums that this has to do with a faulty �evaporation valve� in the fuel tank and that there are many 2006 Dodge owners who have encountered the exact same problem. There are no codes in the vehicle's computer & the dealership has not taken ownership of the problem created by their design & created a recall of the gas tank or �evaporation valve�. I was directed to this website to notify you of this problem in hopes of alerting Dodge of the issue. It is extremely dangerous. In the event that this happens in traffic or while turning in an intersection, the vehicle may easily become uncontrollable, as all power steering & power brakes are rendered useless.

Traveling I-5 at 65 mph when the car lost all power. No response in gas pedal, engine stuttered. Pulled off freeway and put it in park and turned the car off. Waited for around 10 -20 seconds then restarted the vehicle. Then all power and driveability came back. This is the 5th time this has happened for this car and becoming more frequently. Took the vehicle in to have it put on a diagnosis. Code is p0016. Crank shaft position, cam shaft position correlation/bank 1 sensor a. Also code p0128. Thermostat rationality test.

It cuts off when I'm driving it slows down and I have to tryin get over . And it takes almost a 1. 5 hours before it cranks back up. That can cause a car crash.

We where driving down the road and the cajust cut off in the middle of the road.

1-fuel system after filling up will choke itself out at slow speeds or idling-2-engine cuts out going 40-80 mph jerks and cuts off and back on sometimes engine light comes on and other times not 3- issues with turning car completely off have to put back into gear then park again to turn off 4- at times when putting into park my brake light comes on. I thought I did good on this car but now I'm beginning to think I'm in over my head all of this happens on average every other day. One or all things happen intermediate.

I have 2 problems. First while driving all my warning lights will flash on then go right off. Another problem I have is my car will turn over and sometimes start but die immediately. Once I get it started it will go fine for a while before doing it again. By the looks of my research both problems are pretty common in 2006 Chargers.

My 2006 Dodge Charger rt with the road and track option will intermittently loose power and often die after filling gas tank. Even if you don't completely fill it still will die unexpectedly. I never top the tank off with more gas. In addition when car dies going around a curve, the power steering goes out making driving really dangerous. The engine dies at nearly any condition. When traveling at highway speed, after accelerating after stopping. It happens most during acceleration after turns.

After fueling car up, I traveled a short distance, stopped at the main intersection of the city I was driving in, the light changed, I accelerated to turn left and my Charger died right in the middle of busy intersection. I had my daughter with me, so I told her to get out and push, scared that I was going to be t-boned. We discovered how heavy my hemi was, but thankfully 2 men jumped out of there vehicles and pushed us to safety in a nearby parking space. I called a tow truck and had to be towed home after trying to get it to start again and it wouldn't stay running. If you know what my problem is, please help me. My car has 95,000 miles on it. Condition: unknown.

When driving the car it will randomly turn off and then come back on with out having to restart it. It's like if you were to turn a light switch on and then off again, it's that quick. I'm talking about everything shuts down, the lights the radio the gauges everything and then sometimes it comes right back on. There has been some occasions where it doesn't come back on tho.

My son's car caught fire after he had parked it for the night. After 10 minutes he was called at his apartment by a friend who told him his car was on fire. There were no warning signs whatsoever. No warning lights, unusual smells, or hints of impending doom for his car.

Car cuts off randomly- when moving or when stationary. May or may not restart immediately. It has happened when stopped, turning, or in motion.

I have a 2006 Dodge Charger that randomly dies when I'm driving on the highway in town at slow speeds turning corners or sitting still in park it's died on me several times when people have had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting the side of me and it happens no matter what gear its in or what the rpm is at I've replace the ecm the tcm alternator battery and everything I've looked up about it online nobody has a definite fix but the problem exists in a lot of 2006 Dodge Chargers, and it almost always gives me one of two codes one is loss of communication with the ecm and the other is loss of communication with the tcm and then there's other times that it gives no code.

My car motor blew out of no where in the middle of me driving it. It was being well maintained up until this happened too. Anything that could of caused this?.

Transmission and car computer are not working together properly, making the transmission shut off as I drive the car. Can happen at a red light, in the highway, even when it's parked. Brought it to several mechanics no one could fix it. Called the dealership and they claim no open recall but yet the car only has 89k miles. Was built wrong off the line if you ask me.

Some days you come out and crank vehicle and it just cuts off on you will you run down the road it makes a beep noise and cuts off on you if you stop at a light it cuts off on you this happens recently almost everyday.

Every time I get gas and start the engine, it jerks and dies after driving a few hundred feet. I start it again and it keeps doing the same thing repeatedly. I'm afraid to pull into traffic because I don't know when it's going to just stop running. I feel this is a very unsafe situation. It has been going on for about 2 years now. Last night was the most recent occurrence.
