general problems of the 2007 Dodge Charger

Shuts off while driving with no warning. . . Stalls at stop light/sign and when I try to accelerate it has barely goes. . Sometimes it seems like it has no power at all and sometimes it seems like it has to much power without me accelerating. Its very dangerous this issue has almost made me get into several accidents.

Service bulletin # 14-002- fuel tank "roll over" valve failed immediately after fill-up saturating the purge solenoid and dryer canister for the fuel vapor vent reburning system. This service bulletin described failure caused liquid fuel rather than vapor to be dumped into the intake manifold stalling the vehicle in traffic in unsafe conditions. The car was towed to beamon Dodge at 1705 s. Church st. , 37130 awaiting repair. Dodge customer service was contacted at 1-800-423-6343 where they stated that this VIN was not covered by the service bulletin. Quoted repair for the manufacture defect is $4,680. 48. Clearly the vehicles covered by this service bulletin are incomplete. Complaints of this failure can be found on the internet through 2014 when this service bulletin was issued on April 22, 2014. Clearly Dodge corrected nothing in their manufacturing and NHTSA is not protecting all consumers.

Filled fuel tank up until the pump shut off. As I drove onto the road, the engine suddenly died causing me to run off the shoulder as the power steering went out as well. I eventually got it re-started, but it ran rough and stalled out several more times on my way home. After some online research, I determined that it was probably raw gas getting pulled down the evap tube. I avoid the problem now by not filling the tank up all the way, but do it once in a while accidently and the problem returns. Highly dangerous situation.

Every since had car ticks. Was driving after fill up and car just turned off having me almost hit 8 cars on the highway with my 5 year old son in car. Now will not start. I was driving my car when all of a sudden flames were coming from under the hood on the driver side. I pulled over, got out and called 911. By the time the fire department put out the fire, my car was totaled. There must have been a defect somewhere under the hood. It may have been the engine which I had to replace at 66,841 miles for over $8,000. I got no warnings on the dash, just fire from under the hood.

Valve seats dropped on cylinder 1 and 7 while driving on highway causing severe damage to internal cylinder and causing over heat of car also no longer turns on. Takata recall - while exiting a highway into a shopping center, my car completely shut off. My wife was unable to steer the vehicle. Fortunately we were able to restart the vehicle before an accident occurred. This episode was very frightening. Very unsafe. I don't know what caused this, but this desperately needs recalling. The bridge on the main highway had standing water. The road was not blocked off and couldn't see it until you got up to it. Traffic was in front and behind me so I could not turn around. I went under the bridge by piggy wiggly in pototoc, me and soon as I did my car started sputtering and I pulled over and car cut off. I had just bought the car that Monday and this happened Thursday. Dealership tower car to shop and said the water made motor lock up. Had car taken to another mechanic which said same thing. Now I'm stuck paying for a car I can not drive cause of the road condition. I was told this is a state highway . Mayor told me call insurance person tim gunther and tim told me it's state hwy so I have to call department of transportation. This was going to be a car for my daughter and now I am stuck paying for it and needing a motor due to the road holding water and not being blocked off. I was headed to work and had to call my boss to pick me up.

Each time, I have taken it back to the dealership and they have found nothing. On 10/3/2014 approximately 6:10 p. M. , I turned right and the car completely shut off. I have read that there were other Dodge vehicles that lost power and have researched them to take to the dealership to inspect. If I were to trade this vehicle in for another car, I am afraid the next purchaser's life could be in danger. Once it stops, it takes strong arms to control it while pulling over. I need assistance in getting to the problem.

I was driving on the freeway going about 65 mph with cruse control when I felt a odd vibration, I noticed the car was off. While I was coasting on to the shoulder, I noticed that the steering and braking were heavy. I pulled to the shoulder, put the car in park and restarted the car. This car is a moving death trap and if not for the light traffic or the side shoulder there could have easily been a crash and or fatality.

While traveling at 40+ mph I attempted to accelerate by pressing the accelerator pedal all the way, the Dodge Charger rt(5. 7l v8) did not react and kept accelerating at the normal rate before I pressed the accelerator. Since it was not reacting to my input, I took my foot completely off the accelerator but the vehicle kept accelerating at a constant rate. Then after two seconds, the vehicle accelerated at full throttle, in automatic, downshifted, and continued to speed up at full throttle. Brakes were pressed but seemed to have zero effect on the vehicle's uncontrolled acceleration. Finally I decided to shift into neutral and the engine resumed normal operation. I then shifted into drive again from neutral, and operation of the vehicle resumed to normal. First time this has happened and is extremely unsafe, luckily, no car was in front of me and I had time to control the car before I came to the upcoming red light/intersection.

I was sitting in the car a/c on and heard a loud pop and then another. A man came to the car and told me it was leaking. I got out and looked and all of the antifreeze had came out. After reading a forum on this car,it is 12 other same issues that I`ve seen and called to ask whether it`s under recall. All the incidents are recent.

Was driving down road and car started to slow down and became extremely difficult to operate. Car slowed pretty much to a stop and I had to use all my strength to get it to turn so I could pull over to a safe place. The car completely shut off and locked up on me. I put the car in park and took the key out, put the key back in to restart the car and it started right back up. I have been researching since this has happened and there are tons of complaints about this exact thing. I have two small children and now I am afraid to drive my car and it is my only vehicle. I just purchased this Charger about 3 months ago. This is the first time it's happened . This problem needs to be addressed and it needs to be fixed before people start to die from horrific crashes from no fault of their own! I'm so disappointed about this and would have never bought this car if I would have known I was putting mine, my kids or others life at danger! absolutely ridiculous!.

I have an 2007 Dodge Charger and I love my car. I got it in 2007 my first car I have ever had. One day I was on my way home going 50 mph and my car just slowed down on me and the stearing wheel got hard to turn. So I had to push it out of that road and call a towning truck to pull it in. After pulling it in I had it towed to a shop. The guy looked and it and called and told me tha engine was bad. He said it was strang that it happen because there was no reson showing why it should be bad. Because I kelpt the oil chaged got it servies like I should. So we got to looking online and see that there is a recall on tha engine and he said there is tha problem its with tha engine recall and not something I did because I did because tha car is in great condition. And I just want my car fix buy tha company. Because I prices evrything to get it fixed and it was 5600. 00 and I dont have that kind of money.

I was on I-495 leaving long island NY , driving around 50-55 mph when my 07 Dodge Charger 2. 7 liter turned off on the extremely busy freeway. Im usually in the fastlane , but this particular day I was travling in the far right lane. So no damage was done. There are no warning indicators or warnings of this problem that occurs , before or after. There has also been numorus times that the vehicle has turned off while attempting to leave on a green light. That has almost caused me many rear end accidents. I have taken my car to many machanics including the Dodge dealership and no one could seem to find the problem. There are many others on the Dodge Charger forum with the same problem , and feel the same dangers that could be caused if this problem is not fixed or at least identified. If all Dodge Chargers have this problem , it could cause many defect related accidents. There is no check engine warning and the car runs fine untill it unexpectedly shuts off. I have spent over $800 for test and other wishful repairs with still no answer to fix the problem. Check the Dodge Charger forum. I didnt bother to sign up because there was no solution.

While driving down the street the engine cut off completely. First it revved up and then cut off on while driving( in the drive mode). My son was in the car and oncoming traffic was coming in the direction. The car was then placed in park and started again. It started up and revved again and ran after that. This could have been a tragic situation. I hope you can figure out something to help me make sense of this situation.

I have a 2007 Dodge Charger that I have purchased "used" just 8 months ago. I have not even driven 6000 miles in this car and it has a bad "lifter" ticking in the engine. It will cost in the neighborhood of $1200. 00 to repair. On the Dodge forums I have seen multiple people complaining of the very same issue. They have all called Dodge as I have as well and the answer was the very same. Can't help you sorry for your luck! I can't believe that there has not been a recall on these Chargers as it seems to be a problem across the board with this model car. I am furious that they will not help and stand behind their products. I will never buy another Dodge vehichle or recommend one ever. I have spent a fair amount of money for what I thought was a "good" brand american vehichle and now here we are with another headache car with engine problems and no help in sight!.

She took the vehicle to a local mechanic and he advised her that the vehicle had no oil on the dip stick. The mechanic added 4 quarts of oil to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer advised her that the teflon pistons were consuming a large amount of oil and was a normal occurrence. The dealer did not find a failure with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that she had an oil change less than 2,500 miles ago and the rate of which the vehicle was consuming oil was abnormal. The failure mileage was 44,500 and the current mileage was 44,925.

After dealership changing all 8 coils and cam sensor there is no change in driveability. Car still cuts out spontaneously, bucks, and snorts when doing simple (no drama) passes. I heard of these cars with this problem and I have a suspicion that the dealership will not find anything. I surely do not want my wife and kids to be driving on the freeway and have it just turn off on them!!!.

While driving my car has completely shut down at least three times. No steering, no power nothing. Also while sitting at signals or stop signs my car seems to surge occasionally, to where it feels like I have been rear-ended. It has been to the dealership twice and they said they cannot "seem to replicate" the problem.

Reverse went out in transmission. There was no warning of any sort. Had no idea that I even had any problems. Took vehicle to the dealership to be repaired under warranty. Was without my vehicle for almost a month while still having to make payments and find another way of getting around. Vehicle was just over a year old. Got the vehicle back and the reverse went out in the transmission again as well as the rear main seal leaking. Took vehicle back to dealership for more repairs and was without my vehicle again for almost a month. Now, the motor is knocking and skipping and vehicle has less than 95,000 miles. These cars are lemons and I don't know how Chrysler corporation is getting away with this and I sure do not recommend anyone buying a Dodge. Wish I had never bought this vehicle and somebody needs to step up to the plate and make it right. Sad part is I am stuck with a vehicle that is going to need major engine repairs or engine replace and I still owe on the vehicle and of course there is no warranty left.
