The car engine shut off while driving. It occurred while braking on a city street. Put the car in park and started it up again. Drove it home.
I own a 2007 Dodge Charger v6 engine on Nov the 14th I was driving 40 miles per hour oil light suddenly came on started flashing really fast and making a dinging noise, all of a sudden there was a loud fast ticking under hood then the car shuts off luckily I was close to the Dodge dealership I was able to coast into the parking lot I cut the car off and tried to crank it back up it would not start but all my lights came on as if it was going to crank the technician came and checked my oil it was full and clear because I make sure I keep my routine maintenance done on my vehicles, they told me that they needed to keep my car to figure out what was wrong with it I said ok that's fine, on Nov 17th 2014 I called to see if they had found out what was wrong they told me that my motor had locked up how is that possible when I keep everything checked and up to date and fluid levels checked I also get the 16 point multi check done every time I go in there it gets put on the machine to check to see if there are any issues with my car, in other words I need a new motor I always do preventive maintenance on my Charger this should not have happened at all. I also needed to replace my gear shift it got stuck in park and I had to have it towed and I had to pay to get the gear shift replaced, as well as getting the relay switch replaced as well. Needless to say I am still without transportation.
This incident has happened twice now. One, I was stopped at a stop light and the car just shut off, engine, all power etc. Second time was going 25 miles per hour and the same thing happened. . Car just shut off. . . No power steering, no breaks. . . And was in a neighborhood with lots s of kids out and about. Dealer say no computer codes no issues. This is not a safe vehicle.
I was driving home along with my wife from running errands when my vehicle shut down while driving at 45mphs per hour. I called aaa to come and tow my vehicle. They did just that and the service-contracted towing company for aaa dropped my Dodge Charger rt off to the auto repair shop that I'm accustomed to going. The mechanic told me that the battery was drained heavily from the engine problem. So he took out the old battery I had and put in a new battery. Once he did that he tried to get the Dodge Charger rt to start but there was no luck. But eventually some electrical power was restored to a level in order for a diagnostic test to be performed. Once this mechanic completed the diagnostic test he told me that the codes he received are identical to the recall problems associated with the 2007 model of the Dodge Charger rt. He told me that the 2007 model for this vehicle had the most recall problems for the issue that I experienced which were engine problems. He said that the engine problems were the second most recalled issue after the transmission problems for this vehicle. He told me that I needed to investigate about getting a recall complaint made for this vehicle with the manufacturer (Dodge), because the engine problem justified the same recall issues that previous owners had with the model and year of this vehicle. Please help me because I was told that the manufacturer warranty expired.
2007 Dodge Charger engine shuts off without warning occasionally which is very dangerous. This has happened 3 times in 3 years and has been back to the dealer but they have not been able to find out what is causing it or how to fix it.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. While driving between 10-40 mph, the engine shut off without warning. The vehicle has been to the dealer a total of six times for this failure. The dealer replaced all the coils for each cylinder, which temporarily repaired the failure. Five months later, the vehicle began to shut off again. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they installed a CO-pilot to monitor what happens in the vehicle. The CO-pilot registered an issue, but the dealer could not locate the failure with the vehicle. Currently, the vehicle is at the dealer for repairs. The contact feels that the vehicle is unsafe to drive because it shut offs without warning, which could cause a crash. The current mileage was 5,600 and failure mileage was 1,000.
When I first bought the car in may 2007, my car's engine shut off without warning on the highway. I immediately put the car in neutral and it started up and didn't have the problem again. I did report it to the dealership during my second oil change. They said that since it has not happened again that it shouldn't be anything to worry about. Now, at about 95,000 miles its been happening more frequently, about twice a day. No warning lights come on. The engine just shuts off. I took it to the dealership and they ran a diagnostic computer test and nothing came up. We also went for a test drive, but it did not happen when the technician was with me. I feel that I will eventually get into an accident. Our family relies on this car and I am worried that something horrible could happen. I have visited different forums and others have had the same problem. I feel that this is a defect due to the fact that others have had the same problem. I have also seen complaints on this site reporting the same problem. I don't have a choice but to use this car, but also feel that it is extremely dangerous.
