Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. Explosion in the engine while driving contact was left stranded damage done to the radiator from fractured fan blades while at a traffic light, there was an explosion under the hood of the vehicle. The contact was able to get the vehicle off of the roadway. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that several of the fan blades had fractured and punctured the radiator. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted nor informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000. Piir=y. Ah.
"takata recall" the radiator fan assembly broke and damaged the radiator.
While parked at idle, radiator fan, without warning, suddenly and catastrophically fails sending fan blades into the radiator causing rupture of radiator and uncontrolled pressurized release of coolant. Setting: parked vehicle in parking spot of a department store with intent to shop. Places vehicle in park, within a few swcidns a loud explosion resonates from the engine compartment and begins smoking. I immediately shut the vehicle off. Opened the hood and identified the failure.
I was in a drive thru waiting on the cashier, when I heard a loud explosion and pop from under my engine. I could also feel it through my brake pedal. Scared and wondering what the heck just happened? I immediately pulled forward and parked my car and turned the engine off. I got out of my vehicle and noticed fluid leaking. I popped the hood and found some shattered plastic pieces. Upon my 1st inspections my fan was what shattered. I made a few calls and when a mechanic came to inspect 20 minutes later, he said the fan exploded causing pieces to then hit the radiator. Now both parts need to be replaced. Now investigation, I see this is a common problem for Chargers and I'm wondering why there isn't a recall. I cant even imagine what could've happened if I was driving. I also had my child in the car. Scary enough while the car wasn't moving. Tis happened out of the blue with no prior warnings.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the engine fan failed. While driving approximately 40 mph, the engine emitted a loud noise and the vehicle abruptly stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic (chick's auto repair, 540-347-3992, warrenton, va) who diagnosed that the engine fan failed, which caused the radiator to fail. The manufacturer advised the contact to tow the vehicle to have a diagnostic test performed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (Chrysler Dodge Jeep, 540-905-7223, warrenton, va) for a second diagnostic test, which confirmed that the engine fan blade fractured and caused the radiator to fail. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the engine blade replacement warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 52,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. While the vehicle was stationary, the radiator fan fractured and caused a crack in the radiator. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,645.
Was going to town and as soon as I stopped at the store I seen steam coming from under my hood and popped the hood and had water spraying out of my radiator by the fan got to looking at it good and all the fan blades was broke off and one of then went into the radiator. Took it to the Dodge dealership in town and they told me the recall l08 was only for the v6 motors and I had to fix it myself.
I was driving when I heard a loud noise. I then went to a repair shop, I was told that one of the blades on the fan had broke and put a hole in my radiator. I contacted Dodge and the lady I spoke with did know about the problem but she stated that my car was made in a different factory so I was not part of the recall. Which I think is unfair since I had the same problem like everyone else.
My radiator fan motor assembly locked up and a blade came off. The blade went into the radiator. It damanged the radiator and left me stranded. Had no prier noises or prolems. Took it to the shop. Cost me $677. 27 to replace the radiator, the hoese, antifreeze, hose clamps and radiator fan motor assemly. The guy that fixed mine said he see this every week in Chargers. Infact our whole police department switched from charges for this reason. I called the dealership and the Dodge # and they said there is nothing to do to help out because of age and mileage of care. Wasn't happy because online there are plenty of discussions about the same issue. My dealership doesn't fix them unless they are underwarranty. They send them out to the same guy I went to if they are out of warranty. I guess not to show on their books the problem.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. While driving 20 mph, an abnormal cracking sound was heard under the hood of the vehicle without warning. The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. The contact heard a loud noise near the vehicle. Upon further inspection under the hood, it was noticed that the fan blades separated and fractured into the radiator. Also, antifreeze was on the ground near the front of the vehicle. The dealer and manufacturer stated that there was no manufacturer recall to address the failure. The manufacturer provided no recommendations and suggested the contact take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis and repair. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
I have a 2007 Dodge Charger sxt with 60k miles. On 4/8/2016 while backing out of my driveway at 7:45 a. M. Heading to work I here a plastic breaking noise and a large thump sound coming from the front of the car. I quickly got out to see what I had hit rolling out the drive when I noticed water, heard hissing and noticed big broken plastic pieces all on the ground. I turned the car off called my husband to turn around, look at the car and them drop me off at work on his way to work. He popped the hood to my Charger and he showed me 2 broken fan blades and housing surrounding my radiator and where the fan blades had punctured numerous holes into the radiator where the fluid was coming out from. Had to get to work so away we went. We called a shop to pickup my car and have the repairs made. I remembered this sight and my husband checked out the recalls and complaints regarding my car which brings me to write this complaint in hopes that reimbursement for my recent repair will be handled as it seems others have had and been given the opportunity to do so. Thanks.
There's a problem with the head gaskets on the 2. 7 v6 engines. My Charger is boiling coolant in the reservoir coolant tank and when you run the rpm's up to 3x, coolant spray out the coolant cap. I replaced the thermostat, the coolant top itself, I did a radiator flush and also changed spark plugs and at this point I don't know what else to do. My car has 15400 miles on it and it happens day after day but now it seems as if the issue has gotten worse. I was told that all or most the 2. 7 engines has had this issue and had to replace the whole engine. After explaining to Dodge Chrysler Jeep what my vehicle was doing I paid $125 for a diagnostic test and they said that it failed the block test and it's recommended to tear down the top cylinder heads to check for warped gaskets. Please get back to me with any resolutions.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. While the vehicle was parked, it vibrated severely and an unknown noise was heard from the engine. The thermostat gauge suddenly indicated that the vehicle was overheating. The contact exited the vehicle and observed coolant leaking from the radiator. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home where temporary repairs were made by the owner. The owner discovered that the radiator fan had fractured and became lodged into the radiator. The owner was able to replace the radiator and fan, but the failure recurred. In addition, the housing for the fan blades fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while at a stop, the gauge indicated that the engine was overheating followed by a loud noise. There was smoke being emitted from underneath the hood and antifreeze was leaking onto the ground. The contact discovered that the fan blades were missing. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who stated that the engine fan blade on the drivers side fractured and punctured the radiator. As a result, the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,954.
07 r/t Charger going home travelling 20 miles an hour on country road I hear a warning light go on. The temperature guage light is on and its past red. The engine light and throttle control valve also go on. I am about 1 mile from my house so I drive around 5 mph to get to the house. 50 yards away the temperature needle goes all the way to cold. I started to think its electrical. I pull in my driveway and check fluids. All are fine. Husband takes his car and goes and buys a thermostat thinking thats it, it wasn't. We noticed antifreeze at that point leaking. When looking for leak he noticed that the fan assembly blade was shattered on one side and that it had dug into the radiator. So again he goes back to the store to purchase a fan assembly and installs it. It starts fine, takes it for a 30 mile test drive and on the way home it stalls in the middle of the road. He finally gets it home, tries to start it again and now its making a grinding noise. He cuts engine off, checks for other problems, tries to start again but this time its a loud knocking. We call tow truck, tow it to dealership and am told that it needs new engine and the cost is $8000 and said manufacturer warranty doesn't cover it even tough to me it seems like a default in manufacturing. After researching furthur I noticed there are a lot of complaints for both problems, the fan assembly and the engine blowing a main seal. Just way too coincidental they happened back to back. Will someone please help me and others with these problems and Dodge not taking responsibility. God forbid if it would have stalled on me while I was on the highway. Now I have no car, I cant get to work, I am in the national guard and can't make it to drill this weekend, if something isn't done soon I will lose everything if I can't make it to work. I live way out in the country so impossible to catch a bus ride. Please help!!!!!!.
