1 Air Bag problem of the 2020 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

While driving under normal conditions with no collision or impact, the side curtain airbag in my Dodge Charger scat pack deployed spontaneously. The deployment caused the headliner and pillar trim to rupture and released what appeared to be metal fragments and more. Occupants sustained scratches and narrowly avoided facial injury. I discovered there’s a recall on this airbag as this is a known issue. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Dodge dealership for diagnosis and repair. During this process, I was informed that the VIN has an active safety recall related to the airbag/srs system. However, the dealership declined to perform recall-related inspection or repairs due to the vehicle having a rebuilt title. I’m concerned my recall remedy is being denied.

4 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 10/18/2025

While driving my 2012 Dodge Charger at times it pops out of driving going into neutral. It happens when I'm on the hwy or in town. And the air bags has illuminated on the dash and it is at the dealership, and I was told, I have to pay for everything out of pocket. To replace it, popping out of gear while driving and the airbags. The dealership is not going to warranty anything because it's past. It does it off and on, and I don't know when it's going to happen. Popping in and out of gear. So I took it to the [xxx] 4025 cleveland blvd caldwell idaho. 83605. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Air Bag problem of the 2024 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 09/23/2025

While driving at highway speeds the vehicle suddenly dropped into "limp mode" causing the vehicle to start slowing down very quickly since I had regeneration breaking set to level 2. Causing the vehicle behind me to almost rear end me but they moved out of the way quick enough that no collision happened. I was able to turn on my hazard lights and roll to safety. After powering off the vehicle, exiting, locking it and later re-entering it was I able to drive it home normally. During this time the airbag error came up and a service electrical system error. The vehicle is currently parked and I can't move it. When I purchased the vehicle I was told all existing recalls were serviced but never received documents. The limp mode came without warning. It was raining at the time of failure.

Failure Date: 09/17/2025

I just had gotten my 2025 dayton r/t ev and I was on the highway in my first drive…. Enjoying the hell out of my experience. I had driven abt 12 miles. Even got a powershot in when I had a free right away in the highway and man… ?????? im so saddend to share that a car got over on my car and completely swiped the right side, then got over in front of me and slammed on their brakes…. All at 65 mph. Man… my car’s sensors didnt help at all and my airbags didnt deploy. My sensors never detected the car on the right getting close or that it slammed on brakes…. All my sensors are still green in the car, but my abs and other lights are on. Airbags didnt deploy crashing st 65 mph snd I stopped breathing for a few minutes the other driver snd passengers said. All I saw was the csr slam on brakes and then I woke up with 5 cops and 2 ems bombarding me with questions I had no clue to answer as my head was dizzy. Once I got to my senses they asked why my air bags didnt deploy and if it was a 2025 ev how did I get brake checked with security sensors and regen brakes. And I cant answer that only Dodge can… ?? man im devesated. My car is also still registered to Dodge… so when I went to the impound and shiwed them my info they told me I couldnt get the car out even with me showing them my welcoming emails apps etc. So now the car is stuck there. Racking up a crap ton of daily fees. Starting today. And I csnt even get the csr out if I tried. Now my payments. The storage fees. And to fix the vehicle as my deslership didnt add the car they switched me in because the one I signed for had problems to my policy. They left the one I never left the dealership with and I gave me the new one without asking or inquiring abt insurance for the new VIN… please help me guys. My lifes falling apart but im keeping my head up. . My right shouoder blade snd bsck is such a mess. Even after the hospital.

8 Air Bag problem of the 2019 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 08/25/2025

Here in az we had some strong monsoon storms and during one last week, my car was shaken from the winds and rains so bad that my driver side curtain airbag was visible. It did not fully deploy but the bag was exposed. There is a current recall on these bags but since this happened before the recall fix(at the shop now getting replaced) should insurance have been contacted before hand since this was weather that caused the partial deployment? how safe are the replacements?.

9 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Dodge Charger

10 Air Bag problem of the 2019 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 06/25/2025

I brought my vehicle in for a recall to replace the airbags and headliner. When I received my car back from the dealership (union city Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram), the vehicle was returned with a broken windshield, water intrusion leading to mold, corroded and missing components, and now both rear doors do not function properly. These issues are safety concerns and were not present before the service. This dealership severely compromised the safety and usability of my car during a recall repair. I believe this warrants investigation and potential oversight from NHTSA, especially as this stemmed from a recall they were authorized to repair.

11 Air Bag problem of the 2020 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 06/09/2025

The vehicle was sold under deceptive business practices. I inspected the vehicle and seen the tire (side wall) was badly damaged and the vehicle did not even run as mentioned in the description. The safety was in jeopardy and the seller made false claims for me to believe the vehicle was safe and ready to drive.

12 Air Bag problem of the 2019 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 05/30/2025

Had an airbag recall and dealer tried to fix it and now airbag light is on. This is a safety issue to drive car like this.

13 Air Bag problem of the 2020 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 05/27/2025

The driver side air bag in the roof of the car deployed when the engine was not on, and no one was in the vehicle. The car was parked in the driveway of the insured's residence when the air bag deployed. No visible damage to the exterior of the vehicle indicating a collision. The vehicle has been inspected by the local Dodge dealership (mac haik, georgetown, TX), with no known cause of the air bag failure identified. Damage has been estimated at $6,700 to replace interior parts including the air bag and multiple sensors. Weather was noted by the owner of the vehicle as a potential cause, although research suggests that air bags should not deploy if the car engine is not running, when parked, and no one is in the vehicle regardless of weather conditions. Statements found that a cause could be airbag control module failure, wiring issues, sensor misinterpretation, which should lead to an investigation into the quality and workmanship of parts installed in the vehicle, with no liability for the owner. At no point was there any warning or indication of air bag or sensor failures/malfunctions.

16 Air Bag problem of the 2019 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 04/11/2025

We purchased our vehicle from big star Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram, located at 15711 gulf fwy, webster, TX 77598. We drove 3 hours to buy this car, and at no point did the salesperson disclose the open takata side airbag recall during the sale process. After the sale, we met with the finance director, chris schnooberger, who handled our payment and paperwork. He also failed to inform us of the airbag recall or the serious safety risks it posed. Our conversation in his office was recorded on their in-house camera system, per dealership policy. Once we returned home, we discovered the airbag recall through the NHTSA website and were shocked to learn how dangerous it was. We were terrified to even drive the car knowing a faulty inflator could potentially send metal fragments into the cabin. We had the airbags replaced at a Dodge dealership in austin on or around April 29. We purchased the vehicle on [xxx]. I still have the pictures of the carfax detailing the recall. When we called chris to express our concern, he downplayed the situation, claiming the recall was not serious and didn’t need to be fixed. His tone and evasive answers felt dismissive and dishonest. My family and I feel cheated and manipulated. There was no transparency at the point of sale, and we believe this is a serious violation of consumer safety disclosure standards. We respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this dealership’s handling of recalls and safety notices to protect future buyers. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

30 Air Bag problem of the 2019 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/20/2024

There has been an open recall for my car since the first quarter of last year for the side curtain airbags. I have written to Dodge a number of times as well as contacted my dealer. Dodge has not responded to my emails in regards to getting this repaired. It seems as though that it's getting swept under the carpet and nothing's being done about it. The way the recall notice I received said that possible death could happen in as a result of the side curtain airbags suddenly deflating and shrapnel going into the car. That doesn't give me too much confidence in my car and I feel in light of that wording I should get some sort of response from Dodge.
