7 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2011 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 01/23/2015

We had recall p08 headlamp wiring performed on 2/22/15 at palmen Dodge in racine WI. 2 months later we moved to arizona. Within 6 months after this recall was addressed we continued to have headlights go out. After a couple of times I started keeping receipts. Approx. Every 6 months we had to replace our headlights (sometimes 1, sometimes both). We finally had a dealership built near our house this year (rodeo Dodge- san tan valley az) so we were able to take it in without too much inconvenience- we only have 1 car & no rental was offered. The identified the issue was a headlamp harness and needed to replace it. The cost for this work was $729. 77. They advised that it wasn't covered under the previous recall. However when reading the p08 recall it does indicate "your dealer will replace the headlamp harnesses and replace them if required". It seems obvious to me that there was a harness overlooked when the recall was addressed in 2015 that caused us to continually replace headlamps every 6 months. I have receipts from these headlamps from: Feb 2017, Dec 2017, may 2018. There were a couple additional times between Mar 2016 and Feb 2017 that I did not think to keep receipts. I finally had the issue addressed when both headlamps went out in Dec 2018. Service wasn't completed until 3/5/19 as it was difficult for us to be without a car for the length of time we knew it would take to have fixed. I am asking for reimbursement from Dodge in the amount of $971. 37 to cover the work done to replace the harnesses and reimbursement for the headlights I needed to have replaced over time (only the ones I have receipts for). See attached. We will be purchasing another car in the next 6-12 months and this would go a long way in building my confidence in Dodge products/service.

8 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2009 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

Since December, I have experienced a very noticeable flicker of the headlights and dash lights. This has caused oncoming drivers to flash their headlights in response to the flickering. The dealership has replaced my battery and checked the electrical system. When I googled "Dodge Charger flickering headlights", there were posts by a substantial number of Charger owners experiencing the same problem, some are experiencing headlight failure. I believe this is a safety issue worthy of investigation.

Failure Date: 12/05/2013

My low beam headlights have went out over 5 times this year. I replaced the light at my expense every time. I took my car to a car shop to have the headlights replaced only to find out the bulb harnesses were burnt up. I took my car to the dealer to have the burnt up bulb harnesses replaced because that's what the remedy is and I was told my car could not be fixed with out payment. They stated that the recall was for a different car. My VIN # only showed the abs/esc, door handle, and airbag harness needed to be replaced. From the look of it other people are having this same issue. Chrysler needs to be held accountable to correct this issue. The issue occurred due to the abs/esc system which was recalled.

16 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2012 Dodge Charger

Passenger side headlight went out. I was able to tap on it for a few days to make it come back on thinking it was just a loose wire, but one night it completely went out. 17 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2011 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 10/21/2013

Low beam headlight went out. Changed it and the very next day went out again. Looked to see the harness was burnt. High beams work fine. Checked to see if it had a recall, Chrysler said no. Will be contacting my lawyer since I've noticed everyone has been having the same issue. I think every Dodge Charger will have this problem and there are too many for them to recall, so they are going to get a gang of $ off of repairs.

18 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2012 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 10/15/2013

The drivers side low beam headlight went out while driving. Thinking it was the bulb, I took the car apart to replace it and the connector was melted. I found that there was a recall regarding the wiring and power distribution and called the dealer and scheduled an appt for repair. A few days later, the other headlight went out, at night, while driving home from work. This is a very dangerous safety issue for me as well as other drivers. The dealer replaced the recalled parts but the low beam harness bulb connector is not included in the recall. I currently only have one working headlight again and I have no choice but to pay for repairs myself at this point because I can't risk both lights going out again. Something needs to be done.

The passenger side low beam headlight appeared to have burned out. This was not the case. The headlamp harness for the low beam headlight became so hot it melted and began smoking. This is an apparent serious problem in this year model. There have been several complaints about this and the only recall is for police vehicles. The rest of us have to fork money out of pocket to fix a clear and apparent manufacturing defect and major safety issue. This happened to me while I was driving on an unlit roadway after dark. My headlight went out and began smoking. I had to pull over and disassemble my headlight assembly to keep it from smoking.

The dealer indicated the repair solution would be to replace the entire electrical harness. Currently the vehicle has not been repaired. 28 Headlights Turn Off While Driving problem of the 2007 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 07/01/2012

My 2007 Charger is having the same problem that so many others have had. . . While driving, all the warning lights come on at once, fan (heat, a/c) goes dead, all gauges drop to zero and automatic headlights turn off. . . After a couple seconds, everything goes back to normal except for the headlights, those have to be manually turned on. . . This was happening once in a while before, but now is happening multiple times a day. Dealership has no answers and I called the 1 800 number for Dodge with no luck. Has anyone had this diagnosed properly and fixed?.
